Hi
My phone is setup with pattern unlock, with a 3 min relock time. However, once unlocked, if I turn the phone off and back on (standby like when you put it in your pocket), it always come up with a swipe screen and I have to swipe up. Never had to do this before with other phones, Note 4, S6 Edge Plus etc.. is this an AT&T 'feature'??
Thanks
Andy

It appears that the note 5 will always fall back to a "swipe" unlock when other lock methods are excluded (and "none" isn't the selected option.) The same thing happens with a fingerprint unlock if within the timeout or if the phone has a BT connection to a "trusted device."
I'm not sure if this is a samsung decision or something with lollipop. I can understand the reasoning (which probably is that unless you specified NO unlock mechanism, the lock screen should always show to prevent unintended taps.)

I know this is a dumb question, but are you trying to unlock in less than 3 minutes? Pattern unlock will only show up after 3 minutes since that's how you have it set up.
Yeah but that's not the problem. If I unlock before the 3 mins it comes up with a swipe to unlock screen. So if I close it, and open it a few seconds later, swipe to unlock screen. Looks like this:

The infamous "lock screen bug" is plaguing my N920A note5 (like my Note3 and Note4) whenever I have fingerprint lock enabled.
When I tap the HOME button to unlock the phone, the screen instantly switches off (as though I pressed the power button to lock it).
This cycle keeps happening until I leave the phone as is for about 10 seconds then try again.

I've slowly come to realise that my GNex is making a quiet popping sound from the rear speaker. Also happens across by Bluetooth headphones.
It happens when I tap the screen a second after I tap it, and then if I don't do anything else, 5 seconds after that. It can be anywhere on the screen, even the android buttons.
If I pinch to zoom, it doesn't do it.
Its very quiet, but quite annoying.
Anyone else got it/noticed it?
Phone settings>sound>touch sounds <-disable this.

You can turn it off in the settings. If you still encounter it, even after doing this, there is something wrong. Go through the usual troubleshooting steps before taking the phone back to the retailer.
Strangely, it seems to happen only in certain apps, twitter for example, but browser seems fine.

That popping in Twitter is a feature of Twitter whereby you pull down the twitter stream and it auto-refreshes, giving you a popping sound once it has completed.
It also does this popping sound upon entering the application, because it auto refreshes when you start it up.

Perfect. I didn't believe this could be it as it made the popping sound, even with the volume off, but turn the volume up and yup, there's the correct tap sound, turn it all the way down (off) and it makes a faint pop sounds. Switch Touch sounds off and no pop, any time.
NEW ISSUE! The pop sounds happens as soon as you stop doing something which makes a sound. With Touch sounds off, turn your volume up to full until it makes the full volume set "chirp", then 3 seconds later, around the time the volume slider fades away, you'll here the pop is there.
Or at least it is on mine. Almost as if the sound card powers off a few seconds after it was was used and discharges into the speaker in doing so to cause a pop.

Known issue, complain to google. Maybe if we get enough complaints, they will do something about it.

I have a locked stock HTC 10 with software version 1.53.617.5 not wanting to go out of DND mode I have the icon showing by the system clock I don't remember turning it on but I cannot get it to go away, I have tried pressing the volume rocker and pressing "End Now" also by pressing the icon in the drop down toggle menu I have also tried clearing partition cache but it will not go away. Any ideas?
I went to try to see if my works now I'm stuck in DND also. I'm one Verizon version though. ill get it working and let you know

Still stuck on tried turning sound profile to vibrate, silent and normal. Still no go.
Ok, I reboot the phone into safe mode once on the home screen I held volume down till it went the whole way down and then pressed vol down 3 times quick and it went off...
hmm.. worked for me.....
I cannot get the original icon back now in the quick settings. it still says "do not disturb" but when I back out the icon in the status bar is gone and all sounds/ alerts are working again.
so can you try clicking the icon in quick settings and back out and see if the icon is gone? try that a couple times, each time you click back out and look at bar..
also the slider on the quick setting pop up (turning on DND from QS) in the right corner will also disable it, if you haven't noticed that one

I also noticed
my original "DND off" icon (one with the \ through the circle) is back after a reboot. but when I turn DND back on, the "off" icon is gone again and just have to cycle enough button presses to turn it off and not rely on the icon.

Try booting to safe mode unlock phone hold the vol down till it vibrates then press vol down 3 times quick, then end DND seems to have got my icon working again.
The only other thing I did before booting to safe mode was setting my theme back to default.

I'm on a custom rom viper to be exact and booting into safemode gave me a bunch of issues I'm dealing with now. but once I factory reset now ill see if I can reproduce it on bare stock.
I have found a solution online:
Settings > Sound & notification > Sound profile
switch the sound profile from 'Normal' to 'Silent' then safe then switch it back to normal. This fixed it for me.
I'm new to the forum so I'm not allowed to link the source for some reason but it comes from pocketables
As the topic says, the glance view and double tap stopped working after shutting down there phone and leaving it in charge. Turned back on noticed that some features like glance view, double tap to wake up, vibrate on tap wouldn't work. Fixes vibrate on tap by turning off and on again, recalibrated phone still the glance view and double tap to wake up isn't working with screen time out being 1 minute and it dims and turns off in seconds.
Any one know this problem or a fix may be. Kindly put your effort and thoughts I to the topic thank you.

Thanks, it worked. The knock code was turned off.
I have no idea what went wrong.
I just noticed that even my time is in 24 hour format. I never set it that way. Surely something went wrong.

That was really helpful. But my problem is wierd. But first is there a away to turn Glance view off or on. My problem is it doesnt respond to knockOn while screen is off. But what I noticed it sometimes catches some swipes or touches to turn the screen on. No Glance view niether knockOn is working like supposed to. I already did a reset. I did removed the screen protector and case and restart still no luck. Please any idea. It used to work till a couple a weeks when I changed my UI launcher to pixle launcher. So i thought it was the problem but after reset no luck.
One more thing which is the most annoying . I used to unlock my phone using knockcode while screen was off. Now every thing went to a disaster. I also tried contacting LG they want me to send it for repair And I cant just live without a phone.
After disabiling knockon. It still wake up by touching it or swiping down. It doesnt change its behavior. But what I noticed is covering th front sensors does stop it from waking .
Update: After testing. I noticed the problem. When I double tap for knockon. It takes 2 to 5 seconds for the screen to respond and turn on. Glance view same behavior but still hard to get it right I have to touch and hold and wait then swipe down and wait. But what didnt even work knock code while sleep. Anyways the delay in respond is really bad. It never took that long.

Did you find a solution for this problem, my phone is behaving the same as yours and i even had it send to the service at lg but it came back the same, they said thet they change the motherboard in the phone.
I noticed that if i change my knock knock code to a pattern or just not useing a double tap in the code (just a single tap on every square) it enables the double tap to wake but still w/ a problem.... the glance dosen't work but if i touch the screen just once it truns on wich is very annoying because it turns the screen on in my pocket and ther it gose the battery.
I'm very sorry for my bad english.

I wish I were able, But not. I use dual boot with linageOS as daily driver I switch to the stock ROM in sec when I need to take photos. And back to LinageOS.
Thats not a solution. But no other I could do.
Last time I will use an LG product.

I have exactly what you have. To stop the phone waking itself in your pocket, I disabled KnockOn. This means we can't double tap to wake but it's better than a dead battery. Scroll up as someone has shown steps on how to enable/disable this.
I've had this happen for a while now, I've had the phone pretty much a year, and I've noticed some issues that I've found on other LG phones dating back to the EnV Touch.
First problem, more frequent, and more annoying:
Pretty much every other time I push the back button to shut the screen off, it plays the little tone, and the screen fades, and then pops back awake. Sometimes, I need to push the button 2-3 times for the screen to turn off and stay off. I also have knock-on disabled (Activity Launcher app allowed me to find that menu in settings, which for some reason Verizon decided to hide from the main settings menu). The reason I did this was to, in theory, save battery from not having the digitizer always on and actively scanning for taps.
Second problem, more rare, but has happened from the start:
Sometimes when waking the screen up, the screen will show up as if it was melted, just a bunch of various colored vertical lines. Swiping does nothing, so it's not like I can unlock the phone blindly. I have to push the sleep button to turn the screen off, and push it again to wake up and get my normal lock screen. I've had this happen even on the last LG phone I owned before this one: the EnV Touch. See pic for reference, ironically I had to use an iphone to take a picture of the melted screen on this phone, so pardon the crappy quality image.

If the pic doesn't show (not showing currently in preview, I have it on my google drive, since IDK how to manually upload a pic to post it), let me know and I can try to put it somewhere else on the net to host it. Since my account is new, I cannot post the direct URL to the pic on google drive, but if anyone PM's me I can send it.
I'm hoping either of these are known issues, at least if it's not happening to just me, then maybe it'll get fixed in an update, although I have my doubts.
In case anyone asks, this is running STOCK VS98625A firmware, never rooted.
Thanks in advance, I think my 1 year warranty expires in 5 days, I'm curious if I should just bring this up to VZ.
Ive had that first problem (hardware lock button putting the phone into sleep & back on in an instant) ever since I can remember - I have knockon enabled because i find it worth the bit of drain.
I use this great app Screen Off & Lock to have a soft key in a convenient place on the home screen and helps me lock the phone without having the rely on the weird button behaviour. Device is VS986 & this has been the issue on 13A, 24C as well as 25A. Living with it!
Thanks, I'll look into that as an option, I just really wish LG would get their things in order. They've never seem to have a stable rom, even on old flip phones.
Another issue I'm noticing is that when I lock my screen, and it wakes itself up and stays lit up for ~30 seconds, the lighting will flicker dimly every 10 seconds or so, like it's trying to put itself to sleep and failing. I should just make a video of all these issues, lol.
I have the 2nd problem mentioned. I get vertical colored lines sometimes. For me it only happens when I plug or unplug the charger when the screen is off. The plugging/unplugging wakes the screen in this funky mode. I turn it off, turn it on, then all is fine. Happens maybe once per 20 times.
Wow, I have the same issue! The only thing is, it only happens when I unplug it. I wish I knew how to fix it though, because sometimes it can be annoying

It shouldn't need a pin unless you just rebooted the phone. In fingerprint scanner settings, do you have the box checkmarked to "Wake up screen"?
If you do then you might have to just reset the security settings and it should fix it. Just turn off all screen security and set it to swipe unlock. Then redo your fingerprints and it will ask if you want to use a pin when restarting (I usually select no). Setting it up like that should do what you want. I just did this 10 min ago after fresh rom flash

also on a reboot it would always first ask you to unlock using pattern/pin after the first time then you can use fingerprint to unlock...
also yes some screenoff would prompt you back to use pattern instead of fingerprint if you are inclined towards towards custom kernels then try out elementalx along with his button mapper which you could use multiple gestures to put your screen off and unlock without pattern....(after every reboot pattern/pin is a mandate as of now)
In Marshmallow, when apps shut off the screen, a pattern will be required to unlock afterwards. This is supposedly a security measure. There are two workarounds that I know of:
1.) Some apps "shut off and lock" the screen by basically turning off the screen and shortening the time-out to the shortest time possible, typically 30 seconds. This way, you won't have to enter a pin or password since the app didn't technically turn off the screen, it just made you wait till it timed out. The problem with this is that means for those seconds while it's counting down, you can't use your phone. Very annoying.
2.) If you have root, apps can turn off and lock the screen by simulating a press of the power button. For example, Nova launcher uses this method. If you have root, you can set a gesture (like double tap on homescreen) to turn off and lock, which will then simulate a power button click and therefore not require pin or password when you turn on your screen again. This is what I use. If you don't have root, Nova still has this option, but it will use administrative rights instead of root, and thus still require pin or password the next time you turn on your screen.

we have double tap on fp which is used by custom kernels and you can unlock back by using your fp again no pattern required...
