Moving back to stock from Cyanogenmod - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Hi all, I just dug up my old S3 and need to go back to stock. It has a CM11 nightly on there with the MK3 baseband and CWM recovery (and no Knox loaded!). Needless to say, I've been out of the loop for the past year or so and all of these threads about Odin and the newer updates have my head spinning! I want to go back to stock but also want the ability to re-root and load a different ROM later on. If I use the Odin one click here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2755793), would this cause any problem with re-rooting, recovery, or whatever else? I was burned on my newer Droid MAXX when I updated to a firmware that couldn't be rooted so I don't want that to happen in this case if possible.
TL;DR
If I'm on Cyanogenmod with MK3 (no Knox bootloader), what's the safest way to go back to stock with the ability to re-root later?
Thanks!

Yes, that is fine and can be easily rerooted.

But if I was to use the one-click, wouldn't that load Knox and that would be permanently disabling any downgrading in the future? If I just flashed the stock 4.3 ROM and installed as normal through CWM, that should keep everything the same (bootloader, modem, etc) correct?

Yes... 4.3 has Knox by the way.

I flashed the 4.3 ROM and haven't had any issues so far. Still managed to avoid installing Knox somehow. Download mode doesn't mention anything about a warranty bit.

1. Put this in the Q&A thread.
2. This update came out months ago.
It's is just show up on my phone
Got the notification too but phone is unsuccessful on trying to upgrade from 4.1.1.
FWIW, I have the TWRP 2.5.0.0 bootloader and an unlocked/rooted stock ROM and the phone downloads 200+ MB of data and then reboots into TWRP. I then ask it to reboot into the system when it says the upgrade failed and boots me into 4.1.1 again.
I also just got the notification today.
I had previously had the 4.1.1 rooted stock ROM (the one that didn't trip the Flash counter) and was wondering if there was one for this update too.

if you need to update either go with customs roms with the same version but debloated, fixed and works really great or download the samsung stock firmware with Odin and you will go back to real stock with everything bloated and No ROOT

[Q] Having trouble accepting OTA update on 4.1.2. (Assert Failed)

Hello. I have a rooted GS3 which I want to update. I was on CM11 but was getting bad battery life so I went back to stock via a Nandroid restore. I then installed the stock recovery again. Now when I try to do the OTA update, I get the following message

Is there any way to make this work? I am on 4.1.2 (MB1?) and would love to get to the latest stock version. Thanks

you could have left custom recovery on it, and flashed THIS from CNexus. Its stock 4.3, no KNOX, and you get to keep root access.

Thanks for the reply. Is that stock touchwiz or stock jellybean? Also what's the latest version which sprint has pushed out for the gs3?
Stock jellybean with touchwiz launcher. Touchwiz is the stock launcher. This one is the latest update, in zip format, but with KNOX removed.
sent from my GS3

One thing which stock Touchwiz has that I can update my prl etc from the rom, whereas I wasn't able to do that in Cyanogenmod. Do you know if this stock rom allows it? Thanks

4.3 Knox 0x1 Unroot Return to Stock

Hello,
Before anybody tells me to search, I have searched via Google and XDA for several days without a positive confirmed result.
I have a Sprint Galaxy S3, which I bought already upgraded to 4.3. I rooted and installed Cyanogenmod knowing I would trip Knox and be unable to reverse it.
Now I have switched cell phone carriers to AT&T, and want to sell my phone. I want to return it to stock firmware, but I do not know how to do it with Knox being tripped. I don't want to brick the phone, and I don't care about resetting the flash counter nor Knox.
Is there a definite how-to guide for Sprint, with Stock 4.3 images? Will restoring to stock 4.3 brick the phone? Should I be able to just restore it to stock using ODIN like any other version of Android on the GS3?
Thank you for all in advance for your help!

Restoring anything other than 4.3 will brick your phone, restoring 4.3 (MK3) works just fine, I had to do it to return my phone (luckily they didn't notice or didn't care that Knox had been tripped)

[Q] Got a little too custom and rooting happy....

In the last couple days I ended up moving my way up the Stock firmware going from N900TUVUDNE6 4.4.2 w/ root Knox in tact to N900TUVUDNF4 4.4.2 w/ root K.I.T. Within the last 24-hours I was tinkering around with the ROM and I cannot believe I was so derpy but I made a few changes with some apps and ended up doing a reboot. Well when I went to reboot the normal first boot screen came on

(mine is the N900T, I pulled the image from a google image search) and it goes blank after that. I can get into Download Mode and Recovery no problem, and I almost feel like if I just try to re-flash the stock firmware I will be good to go again. My biggest concern about doing this is losing my root and I wouldn't very much like that simply because to get it back would mean tripping Knox. So, I guess what I am looking for is someone who might have a stock System Dump of the N900TUVUDNF4 with root. Even better if it were in a flashable format for Odin or Recovery. I'm also open to suggestions to other-work arounds. I've tried reflashing bootloader, CSC, modem, non_hlos, and recovery with no luck. Before updating the ROM I did to a factory reset so that it cleared all data for a fresh install and have since cleared data/factory reset and clear cache. So, like I said, I am open to suggestions ideas, etc. I've done a lot of research and tinkering around trying to figure this out, but it finally came down to needing to reach out to someone.
Additional Info:
At one point I was getting ADB when it was sitting on the black screen, but now I can only get ADB when I choose update with ADB in recovery, otherwise Odin is picking it up.

you start with nf4, flash ne4 kernel, root with towel root and reflash nf4 kernel
worked great for me

Thanks so much, you are a life saver. Back on NF4 with root access!

Is there a way to remove Knox from the system yet?

I've been waiting since the 4.3 upgrade. Any news?
If it can be put together, it can be taken apart.

Of course knox apps can be removed. Just look at development section of the ND8 ROMs like this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2750674
If you are thinking about the problems with the bootloader...that is a different story. If you update your bootloader and modem you cannot change them to an older bootloader and modem.
Is there a newer boot loader that isn't a Knox boot loader that could replace Knox? I want to be able to use custom roms but Knox is blocking any installation and I don't want to risk bricking. I understand i can install custom firmware if I don't include the boot loader but I don't want to have to worry about all that and just get rid of Knox. Any ideas?

I was speaking more about installing zips through custom recovery
If it can be put together, it can be taken apart.

Yep. I've had Knox since I got this phone and have literally flashed thousands of things. The only thing it prevents you from doing is downgrading your firmware through Odin.... And when I say prevent, I mean it bricks your phone.
My ROM: WICKED X
Ill have to experiment with that
If it can be put together, it can be taken apart.
