i was planning to buy one of these phones but what ive read it seems like alot of issues with it.any imput would be appreciated
For me, it's the best phone i bought. I had a iphone 4s and the Zenfone 2 rocks.
Fast, great screen, 64gb plus another 64gb micro sd, i love the camera quality. The only downside is the battery size. I wish that it would last longer but right now, it's not a big issue for me.
Definitely a great phone to buy.

This is a flagship phone with a small price...
There are little problems here and there but that can be said about ALL phones... Battery is always a problem with the newer phones, the higher screen resolution really eats up battery, and the memory leak from Android 5. 0 probably doesn't help. But saying that, we have 4gb of ram that pretty much kicks arse and, when it came out, was the largest amount of ram in a phone...
I be had my 4g/64 model for 3 months and I can honestly say it is a great deal for the price. Very fast and responsive.

hey thank you guys thisnreally helped
Easy to root and by the magic of Linux Deploy I'm running 64-bit ubuntu 15.04 alongside android. I can take notes in emacs while talking on the phone.
I do recommend upgrading to a quick-charge charger wherever you can. I'm having good success with the tronsmart chargers on amazon.

Before my phone went brick, I was not happy with its memory management. I was starting to run slow after a couple of hours of usage, and it didn't help much after killing apps. Is that the memory leak from Android you refer?
I was just using the stock ROM.
thanks
I got the 128 gig version and honestly have not been happier. Battery life is decent, camera is so so, but multi-tasking is really awesome. The UI is a bit bit cartoonish in parts, but with Nova launcher and some judicious changes in Nova/Dev settings (minor), it never lags, never stutters and is the only android phone outside the nexus family, where twitter for android scrolls properly.
It's an incredible device, for its price point. Enough said

What model?
The 551ML 4gb ram model I use has no issues with memory management and seem to power through anything but there was a few people saying their 550ML model was a little piss poor due to the 2gb they have.
If you have the 550ML then you probably aren't going to have anything improve much due to the physical limitations...
Certainly not junk! I only got the 550 (720p, 1.8 GHz processor, 2 GB RAM, no NFC and although fast-charging capable, no fast-charger). But even with this cheaper, lower-spec model, and inspite of some software niggles and could-be-better battery life, I am really enjoying this device. Love how it feels in the hand, love the big screen, love how smooth it is to use. It benchmarks on a par with last-gen flagships but I think the Intel SOC actually performs even better than those figures suggest in actual real-life use. A higher mid-range device's power for low-budget device bucks! The camera is very good, not great but way better than it should be considering the price. As I said, there are little niggles and problems and things which could be better, but they all seem very insignificant when you take into consideration the price. The cost performance ratio of this phone is pretty mind-blowing! It is also great that we have an active xda community and plenty of dev support for our device. I enjoy both the stock ASUS experience (tweaked to my satisfaction, naturally) and the CM experience - so much that I have been flitting back and forth from one to the other with regularity. Overall, not a device I'd recommend to luddite noobs who aren't prepared to put some effort in to get it set up right for them, but for anyone who actually knows a little or is prepared to learn it is a fun device and a great value proposition!
I'm very happy with my Z008
Definitely a great phone to buy.

Actually, my cell phone has ressurected today. And I have the rare 551ML with 2gb ram. It has only 400mb of free RAM right after booting up. So, 1.6gb is consumed with "basic" (bloat) stuff. My phone came rooted. I'm trying to stop and uninstall some stuff, but I didn't have much luck yet.
Thanks

I have been using Galaxy S3 for the last 2 years, along side 7000 mAh zerlolemon battery.
overall my experience with it, considering it was my first smartphone, was OK.
but now I'm looking for:
a bigger screen & a good looking one! (5.5"+)
better camera (S3's camera sucked!)
better speakers & sound quality overall (i watch YouTube a lot at work, some /movies/TV show as well)
newer & less laggy hardware (S3 is just to old, although i run custom roms on it!).
removable battery & SD card storage.
the LG G3 seems to answer all of my wishes from a new smartphone. but i read about a lot of bugs & defects complaints using google search, which scares me a bit!
what do you guys think? would love to hear your opinions, which will be more valid then online reviews of short use since you had the phone for longer time! good & bad stuff.
I probable will buy the 32GB storage unite, since it has bigger ram & the extra 16G will do only good since the camera files will be heavier compared to the S3!
thanks in advance .
I had used S3 for nearly 2 years as my daily driver and it was a pretty good piece because of it's customizability. But, recently I received the G3 as a birthday gift and even though it's design and hardware impressed me, i felt like something is missing. Sure, it has that beautiful screen, sexy curves, overall amazing design, and an amazing camera but the UI tends to stutter a lot which is really wierd considering the amount of power the snapdragon could deliver. It should have been a child's play, but apparently it isn't. Also, the display has an exagerated software applied sharpening, which to this day i still can't see the benefit of it making your fonts at different sizes look ugly. Furthermore, the hardware gets sometimes so hot from simple tasks making it simply unbeareable for your hands.
When i encountered ocasional lag with my S3 i understood that I was asking too much from an old hardware, but i never expected a new-gen phone to behave like this. We will have to wait and see what improvements the custom roms could bring to the table.
If you spend a lot of time watching and listening videos, the speaker does it's job honorably while the so called premium headphones felt less dynamic than the S3's. At this point, the M8 could be a better deal it's only downside being the display size (- 0.5'' ).
To be honest, I still dont know what to say. I guess i have big expectations from a flagship.
I strongly suggest trying the phone before buying it.
Since S3 is only phone you had any upgrade will be good. Just choose what do you prefer in phone. Htc for speakers, G3 for screen, samsung for water resistance. Battery life and performance are pretty much same for all of them. Try them out all and you will see which one suits you best
I used to have S3 too, only thing I miss is very black screen. But that's about it. G3 is better in every way.
If you dont care about your phone being outdated fast, you can also get Z3

I myself have switched recently from S3 LTE to the G3.
On the S3 a lot was possible with mods, ROMs and solutions from this great community :good: , it was and is a great phone.
My impressions on the G3 in comparison to S3 LTE are:
+ good speed and responsitivity
+ larger screen is nice
+ input handling (touch screen) seems more responsive to me
+ good signal qualities
+ excellent battery life
- community much less developed (no wonder, its pretty new and bump! is just out)
- wireless charging much more fidgety
- considerable more bulk (well, can't have it all )
- display is not as crisp and bright as with S3
Overall I am happy with the new phone and not looking back.

Great summary ccs16rocks. My feelings are exact to yours. In order to reduce many of the issues you identified, I had to root, modify, etc but this has not fixed all of the issues. I've changed my framework to ART and launcher to Nova, disabled all animations, scaling, etc. as well to help with stutter and slow downs, that helped dramatically.
After all of the work that I've put into the phone, there are still some things that I cannot fix or improve and I don't think they can be.
-Camera speed: I'm used to iPhone 5/6 performance/speed. There are apps that can speed up shooting, but none can reach the speed of an iPhone. Luckily there are tons of apps out there, if you have the time to try them and find the right one. I've been through a bunch so far and The apps that do work well (speed/performance), usually don't have any other features that seem practical to have integrated into the app. (video, square, panorama, etc)
-Battery life: I'm using a variety of tools/task killers/etc to minimize what's running, eating battery life or slowing the phone down. This varies and I can't seem to find a real solution to extending battery life any longer other than just not using the phone
That being said, I'm happy with the phone. The hype over the quality of the camera is odd to me though. Primarily because it's nice, but it isn't that great. Maybe it's better than other Android camera phones?
Another major concern is, with all the rooting/hacking/modding I've done to get the phone to operate more efficiently, I'm curious as to how I can upgrade to Lollipop when it comes out, since LG G3 handsets are getting it soon
Just want to thank everyone who replied .
after reading your comments, i decided to stay with the current S3 and skip the LG G3. although it's specification sound perfect for me, i just don't want to risk getting a new phone with all this possible bugs and defects! I will just wait until the note 4 or nexus 6 drop to a normal price in my country, don't mind waiting 6+ month for that. it's not like the S3 is a bad device, it does the job well enough for now.
If you read enough stuff on the internet ALL phones have stuff wrong with them - To me the G3 has some minor software hic ups with its launcher, nothing that makes it worth not buying.
Make sure not to buy the 16GB version, because the lag is REAL. The colleague from the USA might be delighted with the their 32GB beasts, but as for european costumer who are offered only the 16 giggs... Id be better without it. Seriously guys the europeen version is crap without any serious modifications!
The G3 is a wonderful device. As well I just wanted to say not everybody's phone laggs. I've had my G3 since launch and I only experienced very minimal lag and once I rooted and made a few small changes in trickster mod it's been nothing but good times.

Hi, I'm thinking of upgrading my Nexus 4 to LG G3.
I dont want to spend a lot of cash on cell phones, so considering the prices being reduced, is G3 still a good option? The phones looks absolutely amazing.
the G3 is definitely a very good option especially with the really high quality case with the cover that you can usually get bundled with it. Overall very good phone and I highly recommend it.

Not to mention it's one of the cheapest flagships available, and the camera is great. I bought a Nexus 6, but returned it 24 hours later, there are simply too many features that I immediately knew I would miss on my G3, and the G3 screen was light years better.
Love my G3 had it for a few days now and its great plus when more roms dtart to come out i feel itll be perfect ??

Great phone. Get a spare battery and never worry about battery life!
Just picked up the G3 on AT&T a few days ago after dropping and destroying my Nexus 4. So far its been great. Definitely an upgrade in the screen, camera, and battery department. The battery has been amazing so far plus I picked up a spare battery kit so now I'm never plugged into the wall...something I was used to doing on a daily basis with my N4. My only dilemna with this phone is that it's a carrier branded phone and not stock android. Luckily it's rootable thanks to some awesome devs so removing AT&T bloat is not an issue. As for not being stock android, LG's skin is pretty light with some added features that I actual welcome. A few features that have stood out to me so far are the ability to hide the nav buttons on a per app basis(thanks LG), the unintrusive popup for incoming calls, and doubletap2wake and sleep. Coming from someone in the same situation I would say do it.

Absolutely a great buy! I love mine! I recommend it to anyone looking for a skinned Android. The hardware is great in every way. The screen it top quality, the battery is good, the camera is really good, one of the phones with the most RAM, a up to date processor, and really good build quality considering it is plastic. The only one single hardware issue I have with it is the speaker being on the back. Don't get me wrong, it is a really good speaker. But with the speaker being on the back instead of the bottom or front, it can easily get muffled when laying on it's back. Specifically when it i laying on it's back on a soft surface like a bed. But like I said its still a really good speaker for a back speaker. It is just a very well rounded phone.
Amazing battery life, superb laser focus camera, 2k display consistent dev support. Need I say more?
I had samsung s4 s5 sony z2 and z3 and nexus 5 and htc m8 and iphone 6 for me g3 was the best ..camera very good and the screen awesome and the battery not bad it gives me 5 hours sot.. I didnt try n6 so i cant tell you which one is better
Short answer: Yes
Longer yes: Yes, after dealing with the Nokia Lumia 930, 5 or 6 (now I can't remember) defective Xperia Z2, I'm now on the G3. Very good phone. Battery life FAR Superior than the Lumia, and just right below the Z2. Considering it's handling a larger screen and a higher pixel screen, I'd say it's awesome. I am a light user with about 1-2 hours of SOT a day and I go home with 65-70% every day. So it can get me through a day SOOOOO easily! Highly recommended. Camera is great, I have the 32GB/3GB version and I don't have lags. But as I mentioned before, I'm a light user. I only use my phone for pictures, bittorrent sync (folders between desktops and such), and messaging (Line, Whatsapp, Email, Forums). That's it. I know, the device is overkill for my usage, but still! I'm very happy . I'd recommend it over any other phone. The only device I could possibly recommend more is the Nexus 6 or the Note 4. I don't like Samsung's cartoony UI. And the N6 is REALLY expensive! It's 700 euros while the G3 was 450 euros when I got it. So, I can't complain!

Do you own a mobile shop ? Well i think giving one phone out of all the above mentioned, wont make much of a difference to u ..
Does 32 gb make a difference compared to the 16gb, keeping in mind the extra 1gb ram in 32 gb version? Also the quick circle case - is this a must have accessory for G3?
Yeah!! I just bought my g3 two weeks ago, i had a oneplus before i purchased this. It feels similar to the 1+ but with the g3 the screen is better, it has a removable battery, micro sd slot and its cheap compared to some of the other flagships. Id recommend getting it

In the benchmarks the difference is very tiny. My mate has a 16gb version with 2gb and compared to my 32gb, and when youre actually using the phones side by side the different isnt even noticeable. The 16gb is also at least £30 cheaper here in the uk.
...
The phone is awesome! It's as powerful (and beautiful) as phones much more expensive than this. It's a shame that AOSP is not well supported yet, but the power and performance of AOSP can be acheived on LG's own rom if you know how to tweak android, both in performance and looks.
This is the best phone ever and I came from Nexus 5

I believe the biggest difference is when you multitask - redraws on the screen, how many apps can be left open without having to hibernate them (the system of course), wtc.
Regardless, I believe 3GB ram will future-proof it as much as possible. It has a good camera, 3GB of RAM in my version, as well as a nice screen. I think it will be a relevant phone for at least a year or two. But as with everything in the tech world... These things get outdated rather quickly.
If you're worried about buying a device that would last you for years and years (with updates I mean), maybe the Nexus 6 would be best as it will be covered for a WHILE by Google. It's absolutely the most advanced HW (processor, memory, screen) so it will be updated for a while!
If you want a G3 now, get it right now. Thanks to the open sourcing efforts of someone, LG's likely to close down the bootloader exploit in the next couple of days.
Unless you like your freedom restricted, in which case, buy a G3 whenever you want.
A very good buy the only phone in my opinion would be the note 4 to actually consider, with that said it also is the easiest root and boot right now with great support from the developers, hands down top three phone until next summer when we'll be asking each other the same question.
The upgrade from the Nexus 4 to the G3 is worth it in every way. I've had my G3 for several months now and it is a great phone.
Yes
Yes I would definitely recommend this phone for a number of reasons:
Overall screen size
Highest % of front face used by screen
4K display
Battery life (I dont do gaming)
Cannot recommend more highly
However, at the end of the day each phone has its advantages and plus points and drawbacks and you need to align your requirements with these stregnths.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 has served me well, but it now seems to struggle. Some apps seem to be processor limited, then they open the default web browser and when exiting the browser I find the app restarts which I assume is because of lack of memory.
Likewise, Google Maps can get very sluggish and use up lots of memory when driving a route of over an hours duration. Google could probably make it better, but unlikely if it works OK on more modern phones.
So I'm considering an upgrade to the LG G3, which would mean doubling the RAM from 1GB to 2GB and upping the processor from 1.5Ghz to 2.5Ghz.
Would this make things better? Or is the amount of RAM allocated to user apps similar and so I'll still have the same problems?
I keep seeing people talk about overheating issues and cracks, are these really a problem ?

I haven't had a Galaxy SIII. Otherwise I come from a iPhone 4s, and before this I had a Sony-Ericsson Arc S. Personally speaking, I had a lot of problems with the Xperia: continuous rebooting, RAM limits, not software updates, etc. So I felt let down by Android, and I decide to switch to another platform. I can tell that the iPhone worked just fine, but I never felt comfortable in such a closed OS. Reading about technology and gadgets I realized that in three years Android had improved enough and it had become a very mature platform, so I came back to android. I chose the LG G3, because of the good reviews and the better price/value ratio, and I cant tell you that this was a very good decision. To sum up, the LG G3 is a very good device in every single aspect. It's cute, light and has an incredibly screen. Even with its huge 5.5' qHD screen, it's easily one hand managed. I heard complaints about poor battery life, overheating issues and lags. In contrast I never had one single issue: no lags, no overheating, great battery life and an incredible performance.
Last but not least the G3 has matured enough in the community to have a great developer support. Right now you can install Stock based Lollipop ROMs that will make your experience with this phone even better.
I bought my phone in July 2014. If, right now, I'd have to buy a new phone, it'd be the LG G3, again.
I came from S3. Totally new life with G3. No regrets.
I upgraded from an S3 too, no regrets whatshowever, the camera is a bit slower but the quality is so much better. As well as that, the screen is awesome! I strongly advise you to do so
I also upgrade from S3 to G3 (so many 3's )... The difference is huge. Much faster, great screen and not so big (for me is ok).
The only thing that dissapoint me is that in S3 we have so many roms, kernels, tweaks, etc etc and in G3 there are few (but goods )
So, for me, the upgrade is a Must and i'm really happy with that...
If you could get your hands on the 3GB ram version I would highly advise that to make it more future proof (you seem like a guy who wanna keep his phone for a while).
Thanks all, couldn't find a 3GB version, but ebuyer seem to be the cheapest, so bought it from there. Now just need to get them to actually deliver it. They've said they shipped via Yodel, which are not known for good customer service. Last package someone sent via them they lost!
I'll probably have lots of questions once I've got it!
hello guys am consider buying an LG G3 and am a bit consurend about it
because of the lag and the overheating problems
can anyone tell me how the experience with the device and if ther's problems can they be solved with mods and roms ??
plz help
i have a budget of 350 $ and the HTC ONE M8 is about 550 $ in my country
Yes & No
I love my G3 on AICP 9.0 but I must admit he sometimes get really hot and I haver 2,5h of screenon on an average day... If you can buy one cheap he is really worth it. Great screen (although a bit dim in direct sunlight), nice handeling experience and a top camera.
I'm not fan of the LG UI so I can't recommend it for the software experience
I think you should test one and look if it suits your needs :good:
Since I have experience with both LG G2 and G3, If you are not to much involved into race for the newest smartphones on the market, I would recommend to you LG G2.
Why?
- Perfectly balanced battery with easy 6+ SOT and two days of usage with one charging
- Perfect size for average male hand, with full HD 5.2 screen
- Perfectly capable hardware and lag - free experience without overheating.
- Excelent camera - it is virtually impossible to feel or see difference in quality when comparing with G3 in everyday usage
- WIth CloudyG2 ROM G2 gets complete G3 user interface
Weak points:
- No microSD slot, so 32GB of internal storage could be insufficient for some users. I had 16GB version, and haven't felt usage issues at all for more than year. Responsible user should move videos and photos to computer or other external storage regularly anyway.
G3 looks better, have larger screen, a little bit better hardware, and that's it. CPU can be quite hot from time to time, but phone works nicely. With custom stock - based ROM (CloudyG3) there are no lags at all, and with stock ROM sometimes phone can look a little bit lazy, but no real lags.
Since in beautiful Marrakesh air temperature can be quite high, I would consider that also

I recently came from the S4 where I had pretty massive lag issues and most of it had to do with the phone always being maxed out (even with 2 GB of RAM). If you get the 32GB G3, it comes with 3GB of RAM (I think the 16GB only comes with 2GB of RAM, so you might see some of that lag you're referring to).
That said, I just bought the 32 GB G3 and I haven't experienced hardly any lag with just the stock (rooted) OS. That said, I use launchers so there's little difference in setup from one device to another.
One thing worth noting is that, because this is considered a "last gen" phone (ie the G4 is out now), it's possible that many of the developers have moved on to another phone. Getting responses to basic questions takes quite a while (in my experience) so if you're looking for a phone with an active developer community, you might want to look at a more recent phone. However, If you're looking for a phone/media device that has a lot of the information available for you, don't mind reading, and are comfortable enough with development, I'd say get the G3 (I'd aim for the 32GB version).
So yeah, that's my opinion. Let us know if you end up picking up the phone or if you decide to go with something else. Good luck!
Would you say that the OnePlus 3 is "fast" in day-to-day use? A higher rating indicates that you think the OnePlus 3 exhibits fantastic performance. Like, is it as fast as your tears when you watch The Titanic?
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Everything opening fast and snappy, even from the cache. No issues with ram management in my case. Could be 3.1.2 fixed this issues for the most part.
Ummmmm...yeah. This phone is insanely fast!! My note 4 received 66~k reading. Lol.
Compared to the LG G4 I used before this is amazingly fast. Don't know if it's cos of the processor or the ram.
Blazingly Fast phone at an affordable price [emoji106]

Is it faster than the Nexus 6P? I just had to get rid of my 6P and the OP3 seems like a good upgrade

Yah, it is a little bit better performer. Overall I'm still uncertain if it's really much of an upgrade though. I haven't used it on a cell service yet nor have modded it yet. Each device is solid and I don't think you can go wrong with either.
Coming from 1+1, 1+x, moto x pure to 3. Definitely feels primo. Love the upgrade.

Just got the phone today and have been playing with it the past couple hours. In some ways not a big upgrade from my Moto X Pure, but as far as speed it's an absolute joy to use. Everything is extremely snappy and smooth.
Coming from a 4 years old SGS 3 and it is incredibly fast. But i guess that feeling is normal coming from that old phone.
This phone is a straight up BEAST!
Have been using the device since the 17th. I have only rebooted it a couple times while I was doing rooting/moding/bootloader unlock because it was required to do so. I have yet to notice a single dropped frame during any sort of task. I have had 0 crashes. My only issue has ram management, but that was quickly fixed with the ram fix for root users; now I can literally have all my installed apps opened and cached in memory. This phone flies.
Indeed fast. Love the swiftness.
Oneplus 3 is extremely fast and smooth like nexus on steroid. Even though the display is 1080p but it was a super AMOLED screen from Samsung and it look excellent for white color calibration. I even think the white color on one plus 3 look more like it was calibrate on galaxy s6 than nexus 6p. Nexus 6p white color calibration i did not like due to it contain yellow tin look on the display and not white white like Samsung galaxy or iPhone.
Way faster than my 2015 Moto X Pure. Obviously not the RAM difference as the OP3 isn't using all of it's RAM, aside from reviewer releases, this is perhaps a bit lacking for some. The 820 is a BEAST! I always wondered why in the recent past they(QC) decided to use the whole ARM Big/Little setup... This quad core is, at least seems to be, much faster than previous generation octacores. Not only in benchmarks but also everyday use. Granted I'm coming from a hexacore, an 808 I believe.
Just goes to show that often times these spec wars are kinda of joke. Why would an android handset need more than 4 cores? Seriously. Give me 2 - 4 that are fast and energy efficient. As much as many here hate Apple I have to throw them some props for their A9. Dual core with only 2Gb of RAM? Driving that display too? All the while scoring really well on performance and battery benchmarks! That is some really great software optimization and hardware engineering.
I may be kind of the odd guy out here but I really enjoy the latest iOS experience, its such a well integrated platform. I haven't owned an iPhone since the 4 or 4s(I think) but they have come a long way since then. Of course I always Jailbroke them whenever possible. The whole Phandroid/iSheep phenomenon is so odd to me. They're both excellent platforms with their own limitations, advantages and quirks. That groups of people literally come out and strongly bash and insult each other over their choice of a mobile phone is so crazy to me. I mean seriously people, you're gonna be Apple or Google's troll/"PR" person? How about everyone just uses what they like to use without this "mine is better than yours" mentality. Who are these people trying to convince? Themselves?
Having said that I've always wondered if I should just pony up a bit more cash for the flagship Nexus device. I've always been curious if it received the close attention to optimization of the software to the particular hardware it was running on. That's what has always made me, at the least, respect the iPhone. If it's done right there isn't all that much better than a thoroughly integrated software/hardware package!
Sorry for yet another rant but I just couldn't help myself....

im in the same boat im torn between the Nexus 6P and 1+3
i like the 6GB of ram on the 1+3 as i do abit of heavy multitasking, however the nexus has alittle better battery (i like my battery to last ages between charge)
i believe the 1+3 is a quad core whilst the 6p is a octa-core
still dont know which to get
The snapdragon 820 is far better than the 810. All the 810 do is throttle. This quad core destroy the 810. Just cause it's octa don't mean anything.

I can't speak highly enough of the OnePlus3. It's smooth. It just flies between apps and any other phone could only, at most, equal it really. Go with your heart
I feel it's faster than my s7e in every day use
