recently my unrooted/stock samsung galaxy s2 has been acting funky. Yesterday, the screen turned transparent red and I had to shut down my phone to return to normal screen colors. Also, my phone's LED was staying on all the time, as the phone was charging. But today, biggest problem right now is my phone is not charging properly. I connect it to a charger, and the red LED is not coming on, I only see the blue led blinking, indicating that the phone is completely out of juice. It takes about 30 minutes for the phone to charge 0% and then it just shuts of again and the cycle continues, so the phone is not charging right. And before the phone ran out of battery, I was getting LOS issues like never before, and my phone drained in less than 5 hours, which never happens. I don't have insurance with sprint, but is this sort of issues covered by samsung's warranty?
You don't need insurance take it to sprint and they will replace it....
Insurance is for something you did ...that sounds like bad phone manufactures defect....that's the one year warranty and sprint handles that

Please don't give incorrect information. Warranty replacements in a Sprint service center cost $35, but we will gladly assist you in contacting the manufacturer for the warranty process. If you have insurance, it is free to get it replaced outside of physical damage or lost/stolen.

Do I need bring my phone to a sprint store or can I just email samsung for a replacement?
My phone was not charging properly. I brought it to a Sprint store and they replaced it and I paid nothing.

really?
I've never had them ask me to pay anything if it appears to be a hardware issue...I've replaced enough phones that Sprint officially hates me...
Crap, should have give through Samsung instead of sprint, got a Refurb pos with screen issues

called up Samsung and they said just to send in the phone I just hope when they check my phone they actually encounter these problems because otherwise the phone runs normal half of the time.
I worked at Sprint up until 2 weeks ago, because my manager was a moron. As a technician at an authorized repair center, I'll lay it down for you. Possible scenarios:
You've had the phone for less than a year, but you don't have insurance: You pay $35 (if it's past 30 days and it's not any accidental damage).
You've had the phone for less than a year, and you have insurance: You pay nothing.
You've had the phone for over a year, and you have insurance: You pay nothing.
You've had the phone for over a year, and you don't have insurance: Out of luck.
So my charger port is officially done. This phone is my ONLY means of communication outside of home (which is where I am mostly). I was looking for something that would charge my phone in other ways. Kinda need something I can go to Walmart or Best Buy and grab (so I can get it today).
I came across the Duracell Powermat for Samsung Galaxy S/Vibrant. The description says for "Galaxy S and Vibrant models" but upon a Google search I found a year old post saying it won't work on the Epic 4G.
So is there a powermat for the Epic? Does the Vibrant one really work on the Epic and others were wrong? Is there an alternative?
Thanks in advanced.
P.S. - I am not going to mod the device or take it apart to add stuff. If there is no powermat or alternative I'll just pay the $100 deductible I trying to avoid.

I used my friends powermat on my epic last year. It still requires that you hook up a cable to the epic's micro usb and then charge it with the magnetic thing.

The USB port on the phone is completely useless at its current state.
This is a serious question though it sounds ridiculous but, can the battery charge itself? The phone would go dead, not charge, sit off for an hour and it suddenly has 60-80% after turning off at 15-5%

Aren't there chargers for epic batteries themelves? Just get an extra battery and swap when needed
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
I use these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005HBGXR6/ref=oh_details_o05_s00_i01
Awesome batteries, and you get a universal phone battery charger that works very well, so it'll even charge your stock battery.
I went and got a battery charger. Didn't want to cut off my phone and switch batteries all day so I was looking for the powermat alternative. You all are a great help

In my opinion powermats are only a waste of money.. it just looks cool. Convenient, yes. But it doesn't make your phone charge any faster.

You shouldn't have to pay the deductible for a USB port problem. You pay that for water damage, broken screens and if you lose it.
Between my instinct, palm pre and this phone I've probably swapped close to 30 phones for insurance and have never payed a deductible. If they say you have to pay it go to a different store.

Sprint tech at a store looked at it and said it was damaged and I would have to pay a deductible. And I not driving an extra hour to possibly be told the same thing. Plus I started poking around and a peace of gold metal fell out, of ourselves this was after it stopped working.

I know it's nearly 2 months old, but I'd like to expand and share my new-found knowledge/common sense. Apparently you can buy batteries that are wireless charging compatible, to where you just swap your oem battery for these wifi charging batteries and place it on whatever mat hardware to have that wireless charging experience, where do they sell it? Which companies? Who knows, but its out there, and something tells me the GSIII comes with one.

My battery is completely dead and is swollen to the point where I cant even get back cover on. I was looking to pick one up locally and I live in Chicago and thought it would be pretty easy to find replacement. Its not at all. Even the Sprint stores say they are all out of stock for replacement batteries for the E4T they only have the extended ones for 100bucks. I really dont want to be out of a phone a the few days that it will take to ship. Are there other phone batteries that work in a E4GT that may be more common that someplace like best by will have in store. Thanks
The OG epic....make sure u return that battery to Samsung and make them send you a new one. It may take 3 weeks, but your gonna need that

Just came across same problem in Orlando. 2 sprint stores, 2 batteries plus, 2 radio shacks, and one best buy. Nobody has our battery. Batteries plus could order it for me, and it'd cost $45. I ordered 2, plus an external charger off amazon, paid for overnight shipping, total cost $33. Regular shipping total was $14 I think.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Order on Amazon. I don't know if best buy carriers them in store but the do carry an extended battery and radio Shack has the same one as best buy. Check stock at stores around you. Or take it to your service provider, I think Sprint might switch it out. You can get the one from best buy or Radio Shack for like $25.

Cool, a sprint store gave me a battery even though I was out of warranty. Actually they didnt even see my phone. I pulled out the battery and showed them it was about to explode. She grabbed it took it in the back and brought out a new one. Its a 1500mah but she said to come see her tomorrow and shed give me the 1800. Very nice of her.
Also guys don't forget ATT and T-Mobile have Galaxy S2 in case something like this comes up again. Lots of swollen batteries lately.
Any sgs1/sgs2 battery will fit but sgs1 batteries are only 1500mah instead of 1800. You can find pairs with external chargers for about $25 on Amazon, Hyperion, anker and empire are the best non OEM brands. I'm actually going to sprint tomorrow to get mine replaced if they have any in stock around here, and then once I get a replacement I'm gonna order a pair with charger off of amazon so I have 3 i can rotate to help prevent the bulge reoccurring. Mines not super bulged but once it drops below 40% it will flicker and shut off and when i reboot its dead until I plug in and reboot then it jumps back to 40%+. Its quite annoying
We are legion, for we are many.

I have had a few faulty phones Galaxy S3's from o2 (Long story) and as a result they have offered me a Galaxy Note II, But its refurbished
Now they are sending me just the phone and battery and i send them back my faulty S3. So it means im stuck with the S3 charger, So will it fit and work ok ? (Maybe a noob question sorry)
Also it now means I don't have a box or accessories, I always keep my box for phones in case i want to sell after contract, so Im a bit peed off, that i don't have box.
So if anyone has there old box laying around with manual and accessories, I would be interested or if anyone knows where i can get one from
Phone is Titanium Grey, so would need a box for this phone.
The charger from the S3 will work just fine.

Charge will work just fine.
Will take longer to charge than the Note's original one (aprox 3 hrs to a full charge).
It will work, but will take significantly longer to charge, now than twice the time.
Try and get an original note 2 charger, the charging time saved is worth it.

I charge only at night because my battery life is so fantastic. So I don't really care if it takes 3 or 5 hours to charge. I use the original Note 2 charger by my bed.
I use my OLD Galaxy S2 charger sometimes when I just want to top off a little before I go to work or I have a long night ahead or for whatever the reason. But most micro usb chargers will work just fine. The only difference is charging time.
Cheers guys, I might go into O2 and tell them i want a new charger then. Cant see why I should have to pay out when phone was faulty.
Anyone know about getting a note 2 box ? or anyone willing to sell me theirs ?
Its interesting and unacceptable. If they accept to change with note 2 they Need to provide full box. Coz its not your fault.
But at least a profitable swap
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
Basically they are telling me, they are doing me a favour. They have given me the option to swap to the Note 2 due to 2 phones being faulty. Touchwiz stopped working on 1st phone and wouldnt respond, then 2nd phone they sent out, kept freezing and screen was going all weird.
They say they can only send me a refurbished unit, this comes with just battery and no charger or box. They said charger will work from S3 model.
I explained how i like to keep everything for phone, so i can sell it on after contract. But they just said, I would get same amount for phone regardless of if it had box or not lol.
Might go into store today and see what they say, hopefully they might be able to help me out, But if anyone on here wishes to sell me there old grey note 2 box please contact me
The note 2 Congress with a 2amp charger While s3 with a 1amp charger. I would ask them to get u a note 2 2 amp charger.

This sounds rather odd to me. Here in the Netherlands many stolen phones are sold, just the phone, without original charger or headphones. A box often functions as a proof of purchase. So I would not sell you mine.
You can get the original charger from eBay.

How is it odd ? have you checked ebay and seen note boxes for sale? there are a few but no note 2 boxes. Also there are loads of Samsung galaxy S3 boxes on ebay, and i dare say i will put my old box on ebay too, minus any info about IME number.
If on contract box is not proof of purchase, even if you have insurance with O2 they only ever send you a replacement phone and battery (refurbished not new)
$100 only. Sir.
+1..iam also ready to sell for 100 $...
Why do you need a box. ..we all pay full price in India here. .no subsidies. ..we have no problem needing the box. .. original bill recipient is enough for warranty issues
scribbled from my note 2 (N7100)
Hi all, a quick question: I've been waiting for a good 2nd hand bargain to buy a Note 2, then one shows up on ebay for a very good price. Problem is, it's dead. Guy has impeccable feedback and says it's in brand new cond but it just won't power on, just the red LED blinks when he tries to charge it. It's an LTE model too which would make it less than half price than new.
I've asked him what happens if he puts it in download/recovery mode and am waiting for a reply. Are there any inherent problems with the 7150 that are fairly inexpensively fixed? Does this sound like one or is it likely to be shot? Anything I should ask him to check to see if it's fixable?
Thanks!
It seems device is victim of SDS(sudden death syndrome) and repair cost will be nearly half of device price
In case of SDS you will needs to replace Motherboard
If you want to deal, first ask price of motherboard + repairing charge to service station and sum it to device price. Then you can decide to make deal or not.
Two halves make a whole, so not much point going for it rather than a brand new one!
Thanks, I'm confident a better one will come along
It's wise decision.
