Hi all,
I semi-bricked my device (815) while cleaning from bloatware.
The last stuff I cleaned were some drm-stuff from LG which might caused my booting being stuck at Boot with Security Error, Authentication failed.
I am rooted and on Genisys 1.0 Rom and I would reflash it with command Flash but I removed the System.img from my internal sd Card.
I managed to copy it to the external sd Card but can't get the proper command to Flash it from there. Maybe the external sd Card is not even mounted in Download Mode?
Unfortunately I have no custom recovery installed so flashing a zip over this method is not possible.
Hard Reset of the phone is not working, there Comes a small error message with "secure boot not working".
Any ideas?
Best regards,
Matze
solved
Reinstalled Stock kdz-file with LG Flash Tool.
Even was able to Keep my files.
Now I Need to regain root.

My phone got stuck and I did a factory reset. When I try to reroot the phone I can't find apply file from sd card on recovery. It only says apply update from /cache
It seems my phone is not seeing my sd card. I installed Rom Manager clockwork. I tried doing a Flash as someone suggested I got an error message, It runs to the end then is gets stuck and the error message I get is an error occured while attempting to run privileged commands.
So that did not work. Then he said do Flash Mod Touch that did not work either.
When I select I get an error while downloading from server. Please make sure that you have a stable internet connection, and that your SD card is inserted and has free space. I have a solid internet connection. It just can't find the sd card.
Please help.

Anyway, use the Nexus tool to recover back to stock and reinstall CWM, start all over.

Just because you did a factory reset, doesn't mean it's not rooted. Flash a ROM and see what happens.

Hey all,
Recently I tried to format my sd card from my phone to create extra space, as it was getting clogged up. I pressed unmount, expecting to mount it again as the format option was greyed out. However, I was unable to get it mounted again (ie my phone no longer recognises a sd card is inserted).
I tried to perform a factory rest to get my phone back to the settings it should have once had. However it didn't manage to do this properly and now its stuck at the htc logo screen. Formating or partitioning the sd card didnt do a thing.
I can get into the bootloader, and it was rooted beforehand. I was running the official Miui ROM. Now I am unable to start my phone normally, nor get into access my sd card.
Unfortunetly, I have had my phone for quiet a long time now so I doubt the warranty is still valid. I need help urgently.
Thanks in advance.
Try clearing cache and data and then install a new rom for example Jellytime r26.2.
if it dont work the first time try one more time. I had the same issue ones and had to install the rom twice before it worked.

Are you S-OFF? Can you get into recovery? through the bootloader? If so, just flash a new ROM through recovery.
How did you try to do a factory reset? If you can get into the bootloader, go to recovery if you have it. Then see if the sdcard is being recognized or not. If it is getting recognized, put the zip of any ROM on it and flash it after wiping like the guy above me said.
Post what your bootloader screen says here. Your phone is far from being bricked as far as I know.
RESOLVED
I've managed to resolve this issue. For the benefit of others I will explain what I did.
1)I went into fastboot mode and connected my phone to my pc (running windows 7). Using cmd I reflashed the recovery image.
2)Went into recovery and installed a custom ROM.
I hope this helps you as it really saved my life.
P.S Cheers for all the help guys, you've been amazing!

I formated and wiped all the data i could from the phone itself and the from recovery. Lucky you were right about me being far away from bricking it completely.
Since I firstly unmounted my sd card from my phone settings, it didnt get recognised at all. I couldnt mount it again. So i formatted it with windows, then in recovery made a backup image despite the phone being stuck in bootloop. That allowed me to finally access my sd card for some reason.
Then as you all suggested, i just needed to reflash everything, including recovery using fastboot.
Bit of a strange scenario really
Lesson learned ? :
1.) If youre going to start from scratch then start in Recovery;
2.) wipe all partitions (twice)
3.) enable USB drive and transfer new ROM to SD Root
4.) flash new ROM

hi lachy92, by formatted all the data, you mean wipe data/factory reset in the recovery? coz i have same problem with you, i tried to install new rom from the recovery, but the recovery always shows cant open sd card, installation aborted, can you help me pliz
So hello modders and fellow G padders.
So yesterday or last night I flashed Malludus ROM and it went ok but the keyboard kept quitting on me so in decided to try again and I downloaded the LG apps , Gapps and ROM from his locations ok no prob.
Did a wipe on TWRP latest version.
Now it will only boot into TWRP no matter what I do, I've tried downloaded mode w/ the PC suite and get a 43 code error.
I can still boot into TWRP so I prepared a SD card and tried to flash and nothing but back to TWRP the funny thing tho is as I mount my SD card and continue to flash the data size on my SD card gets larger as if I'm flashing it to the SD card.
So I copied and pasted to the internal memory and get failed flashes.
Neededing guidance .
Never have used Adb from command prompt but will now if someone can link me to a good tutorial.
Thanks again Modders and Gpadders.
Problem Resolved. Here is what I did to fix it, FINALLY...
Install Xposed, Download Wanam Xposed, activate the module, open and go to security hacks and check the box for SDcard RW permission, then reboot.
I just did this to mine and it fixed my problem. Hope it works for anyone having this issue.
Well first of all I an on OK3 5.1.1 build if that even matters or not. I did the Dev unlock and all went well. I then flashed TWRP 2.8.5 through Odin and it boots into TWRP just fine. I then flashed Super Su (UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.65) and wiped both caches and rebooted and now cant get past the red Verizon screen. I know this is more than likely a kernel panic, so I then downloaded and placed the Emotion kernel (Emotion-TW-5.1.1-nightly-r21-RC1-SM-N910P) on my ext sd card put it in the phone booted into TWRP only to find that Apparently TWRP is not reading the ext sd cards. Another fellow member was nice enough to let me know that I may have to sideload it. Well I tried doing it using sideload command and it tells me "cant read file" , so I tried to push and it says "no file or directory". Also tried push and sideload other files with the same outcome. I even tried 2 other sd cards from my GS5 and my Tab S and same thing, when I go to ext sd it doesn't show any files at all. I am at a loss here and any help here would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
EDIT: I finally just went ahead and restored back to factory and reunlocked and flashed Jasmine ROM. All is good here now except I am still having a problem with the ext sd card not being read in TWRP. I have had ver 2.8.5 / 2.8.7 / 3.0.2 of TWRP and none of them will read the card. I have tried formatting the card with my Note4, GS 5, Tab S, and my PC using SD Card Formatter. Still getting the same result.
New 5.1.1 and 6.0+ firmwares require system(less) root (SuperSU v2.67 or newer) with a patched or permissive kernel. You may flash MultiSystem kernel for TouchWiz 5.1.1.
Copy the files to you internal memory. Flash the kernel and that SuperSU from TWRP recovery.
Regarding your SD card: format it using this: https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/

Thanks, but I couldn't flash the kernel at the time I posted this because I could not access my files on my ext sd card. All is good now except the ext card problem.
Probs with TWRP Recovery - not recognized Ext SD + Auto quit & booting to Android sys
Hi, I am having following problems with TWRP on my i9082 - Stock 4.2.2. I did a stock factory reset first. And then installed TWRP using Odin.
Note:My phone is rooted, using SUv2.65.
1) TWRP 3.0 + all versions. I have tried every version till the latest 3.02, but with every 3.0 and higher version, my external SD Card is not detected... Though Android System can detect the SD Card, and read and write files to it.
2) If I use TWRP 2.8.6 tar installed using Odin, then it reads the SD Card, but gives this message E:Unknown File System: 'datamedia' .
If I ignore that message, and try backing up my Stock ROM, then in about half a minute, it automatically reboots into Android system, and the Backup is not created...
Hence I am not able to create any Backup.
Could somebody please help. I can't understand that error. And also can't understand why higher versions of TWRP (which do not have this error), cannot detect the SD Card
But in every version, I cannot stop TWRP automatically quitting and the Phone booting into Android in less than a minute. I even disabled Screen timeout... Doesn't help!
There is a correction to the Post above:
1) About the External SD Card: It seems there is a problem with the Card. The Card shows in Windows and also in TWRP below v3. It gives the impression that you can read and write to it... But in reality, when we write something, we find it is missing the next time we try to read the data... Even while trying to format the card from Android, it says formatting completed successfully. But we find all files are there, just as before...
I have tried using DiskPart and also SDFormatter..., on this Sandisk 64GB microSD XC1 card. But it appears to be bricked, and cannot be formatted.. I have to try with another external SD Card.
2) But leaving the SD Card, the other issue still remains, for which I would be grateful for any help. In any version of TWRP, both above and below v3, I am not able to complete any backup... TWRP quits on it's own after some time, even while the backup process is going on, and boots into Android, and no backup is created...
I know that TWRP patched my Boot partition. Because at the first while flashing with ODIN, I could not boot to TWRP Recovery, it would always go back to Stock Recovery... Then at another XDA Post, I read that 'Auto Reboot' should be disabled in Odin, and the Phone Battery taken out to quit Odin Mode, and then we should reboot into Recovery using the Right Key combination, and TWRP would boot... Once TWRP is booted, that it would patch the boot, so that the Stock Recovery overwriting would cease... That has been successful, and everytime I use the Key combo to boot into recovery, I get into TWRP. But TWRP now quits by itself even when it is actively doing something. And that is getting me completely confused...
I have to add this Error too here!
Besides above, I also consistently get this error in the Log tab. E:Unknown File System: 'datamedia' . This is also the same in every version of TWRP. If I ignore it and continue with Backup, then Backup proceeds, but TWRP quits to Android System like I said earlier, and hence the Backup is never made...
For long time I was too facing this prob with TWRP recoveries for galaxy grand duos sudden restart to UI while taking nandroid backups, flashing new ROMs or apps ...
I just quit and now the probs are solved using Phil's recovery ..NONE problems till now great jobs in taking nandroid backup and Flashing ROMS...
