My phone got stuck and I did a factory reset. When I try to reroot the phone I can't find apply file from sd card on recovery. It only says apply update from /cache
It seems my phone is not seeing my sd card. I installed Rom Manager clockwork. I tried doing a Flash as someone suggested I got an error message, It runs to the end then is gets stuck and the error message I get is an error occured while attempting to run privileged commands.
So that did not work. Then he said do Flash Mod Touch that did not work either.
When I select I get an error while downloading from server. Please make sure that you have a stable internet connection, and that your SD card is inserted and has free space. I have a solid internet connection. It just can't find the sd card.
Please help.

Just because you did a factory reset, doesn't mean it's not rooted. Flash a ROM and see what happens.

So today i rooted my desire, and tried installing the Sense 2.2 HD.
The installation failed and now i cant boot up, get stuck at the white screen with HTC logo. Connected SD card through USB in recovery mode, and formated it multiple times successful into all kinds of formats (fat16, 32, ext2, 3) in both windows and ubuntu.
Now when i try to run the update.zip or any rom file from recovery i get the following error
E:Cant mount /sdcard
(No such file or directory)
or some other problem
Any help would be nice
Moved to Q&A.
Take a look HERE. Hopefully this should sort you out.
I've did a wipe data/factory reset, is it still rooted after that?
Cant get this crap to work. It boots straight into Fastboot usb now. But it wont find the sd card. Its the stock sd with 4 gig. My pc finds it and it works
How do i get my phone to recognize the sd card?
Yes you should still be rooted, a wipe/factory reset won't unroot your handset.
All you need to do is the fastboot command to get your SD card recognised again. If this doesn't help, I'd try a new or different card.
Wow took awhile. Downloaded an RUU and went into fastboot and updated.
All sorted then?
PLEASE HELP...I am new to this so I hope it is simple. I recieved instruction on how to flash the SNS v1.3 From this Thread on this site.
Sinister Rom [RLV3]-5/12/11|[! Post what you want to see in version 4 !]
Prior to this I performed a Nandroid Backup after flashing Amon RA from ROM Manager. I wiped everything except for the SD Card and attempted to flash the ROM. After an unsuccessful try I tried to reboot phone and it just keeps going to the Bootloader Screen. I also noticed that the PC36IMG.zip file is not being loaded now. It says that image is not found. I have tried several new PC36IMG.zip files from the site and put them on the root of my SD Card using the USB-MB toggle option and it still says wrong or no image found. WHAT do I do? Don't want my phone to die and be bricked...
HELP PLEASE
I think y oi r problem is you dont have an os, try putting a rom on sd card, on bootloader select recovery and flash zip, then look for rom zip file and flash
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App

Maybe bad download. But, yeah, sounds like you don't have an OS. YOu need to find a good one to flash which should contain everything. Good place to start for noobs would be the new GB leak. It's here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1038701
Sounds like you have SD card problem though. Pull the recovery.log using adb:
adb pull /tmp/recovery.log <path on your comp where you want it to go>.txt and post it.
what is adb

You should really know what adb is before you rooted your phone..
Here is Android Debug bridge(ADB)
Now onto your problem. If you have the option try to use a different micro SD or a different way of transferring a rom to your card.
When I transfer a rom to my micro sd via a cheap ebay adapter I receive that same error. But when I transfer right to my phone or through the adapter that came with my phone it works fine.(I have a SD slot on my computer most newer ones do)
THANKS TO EVERYONE!!! Needed to Wipe SD Card, Partition SD CARD, and reflash ROM...WORKING GREAT NOW!!!
Just curious, but why did you feel the need to double post this... .in the same forum, no less?
And good deal getting it fixed....
Hello, i have a flashed to boost mobile htc incredible, i recently put in a formatted 32gb sdcard, i have the original 8gb sdcard that the flashed phone came with somewhere(cant find it), but im not sure if that is what the cause of the error i keep getting is. i try to backup my rom in cwm recovery but when i try to restore the error md5 mismatch comes up, when its backing up the last process shows no sd-ext partition, skipping backup of sd-ext, so im not sure if i deleled something while formatting the sd card or if that is something that is common not having sd-ext partition. what is a solution to this problem?
I am having several problems with my phone actually, if you can help that would be great, whenever i download a rom file zip and try to flash manually via cwm recovery the error bad zip comes up, i figure it must be a bad download so i redownload and try again, ive tried more than 20 times and still get bad zip if trying to download from phone browser, same problem while trying to load files from my computer, i got lucky only once it seems trying from computer and ever since i havn't been able to switch my rom. i really need help on this one, please.
even if i try with rom manager i get an error in cwm recovery saying error processing rom manager script check if you have rom manager v4.4+ ive tried several versions that are higher than that version even the latest and still have not been able to flash a new rom.

It sounds like something is wrong with the sdcard. Try reformating it fat32 with a pc. If it still dosent work the card may be bad, or have some sort of incompatability issue with the phone.
Hi al,
last night i was clearing my phone and i decided to do a factory reset and clear SD card from android menu and now im stuck on the android glowing text and my phone wont load. i cannot access the sd card as the ums file cannot be found.

All help is apperciated
try flashing an ruu it will revert eveything back to stock, but if you updated to 1.23 firmware then you have to flash rom/recovery/kernel all by yourself

Flash a version of clockworkmod that isn't ancient, i.e., 5.8.4.0 and mounting will magically work.
Hey all,
Recently I tried to format my sd card from my phone to create extra space, as it was getting clogged up. I pressed unmount, expecting to mount it again as the format option was greyed out. However, I was unable to get it mounted again (ie my phone no longer recognises a sd card is inserted).
I tried to perform a factory rest to get my phone back to the settings it should have once had. However it didn't manage to do this properly and now its stuck at the htc logo screen. Formating or partitioning the sd card didnt do a thing.
I can get into the bootloader, and it was rooted beforehand. I was running the official Miui ROM. Now I am unable to start my phone normally, nor get into access my sd card.
Unfortunetly, I have had my phone for quiet a long time now so I doubt the warranty is still valid. I need help urgently.
Thanks in advance.
Try clearing cache and data and then install a new rom for example Jellytime r26.2.
if it dont work the first time try one more time. I had the same issue ones and had to install the rom twice before it worked.

Are you S-OFF? Can you get into recovery? through the bootloader? If so, just flash a new ROM through recovery.
How did you try to do a factory reset? If you can get into the bootloader, go to recovery if you have it. Then see if the sdcard is being recognized or not. If it is getting recognized, put the zip of any ROM on it and flash it after wiping like the guy above me said.
Post what your bootloader screen says here. Your phone is far from being bricked as far as I know.
RESOLVED
I've managed to resolve this issue. For the benefit of others I will explain what I did.
1)I went into fastboot mode and connected my phone to my pc (running windows 7). Using cmd I reflashed the recovery image.
2)Went into recovery and installed a custom ROM.
I hope this helps you as it really saved my life.
P.S Cheers for all the help guys, you've been amazing!

I formated and wiped all the data i could from the phone itself and the from recovery. Lucky you were right about me being far away from bricking it completely.
Since I firstly unmounted my sd card from my phone settings, it didnt get recognised at all. I couldnt mount it again. So i formatted it with windows, then in recovery made a backup image despite the phone being stuck in bootloop. That allowed me to finally access my sd card for some reason.
Then as you all suggested, i just needed to reflash everything, including recovery using fastboot.
Bit of a strange scenario really
Lesson learned ? :
1.) If youre going to start from scratch then start in Recovery;
2.) wipe all partitions (twice)
3.) enable USB drive and transfer new ROM to SD Root
4.) flash new ROM
