Use KingRoot first. It creates a temp root. Then run Sunshine; it will reboot during the process, and you will lose root. Run KingRoot again, and Sunshine will finish. You will be rooted, bootloader will be unlocked and you will be S-Off. I then removed KingRoot manually, following a script I found searching for Replace KingRoot. Took a while, but worth it.

Root without root issue.

Hi peeps, looked at rooting my nice new G3 and went in for the kill with towel root [emoji16] only to find out didn't support my version. Decided to go with purpledrake (not got there yet) found a couple of apps not working because of root which root checker says I don't have. My question is do I need to root now regardless even if only to unroot? To get things back to normal?

After rooting, did you install SuperSU?
Also, there's StumpRoot as a 3rd option.
That's just it. Towel root told me my phone wasn't supported and root checker says I don't have root, yet the app in question says I do so super user seems a bit pointless.

SuperSU is needed after you root to give apps root access. Try to install it, if it works, you're rooted and you can go along with your rooted apps.
Otherwise, try StumpRoot (Towel and Purple's didn't support my version either), install SuperSU and enjoy your root apps!
Tried to install it with no luck. Seems something's gone wrong somewhere.
Says I need to manually 're root of I just upgraded to android 4.3. As it can't install su binaries.

Time to give StumpRoot a shot then.
Yeah I think your right. The only issue left is the app I want to use fails when rooted and the root cloak module/app doesn't currently support it [emoji20]
Edit:
Well i tried stump root and got nowhere [emoji20] looking like purple is my only way forward. And if i want to use that particular app then root, unroot is the only way forward. [emoji45]

Still no way to root MM without unlocking bootloader or using Kingroot?

All I see are options that require me to unlock the bootloader (lose warranty completely) or use Kingroot (borderline malware and is only temporary).
Is there no way to root MM yet that doesn't include the above?
I want to remove so much crap Virgin Mobile put on my phone and block ads. I mean they put Mcafee Security on my phone and it doesn't allow me to disable it.
Take a look at this page on this thread. The first two post on the page are what you need to root. I would have rooted mine but i await autorec for D852G marshmallow, all other versions are available. i believe your device version will be avaialble. So currently i am temp rooted with king root.
If you worry about king root being malware then simply install droidwall and block it from having access to the internet after you root.
Which device do you use.
the annoying thing is, to root the lg g3 mm you need to unlock the bootloader, and to unlock the bootloader you need to root... so am like what kind of messed up situation is that. Currently no developers are showing much support for rooting the LG G3. wish i dint buy the device

I could live without titanium backup i guess.
Im using d852 with no g.
But the best ad blockers all need root
Gues im stuck waiting for the warrenty to expire and doing it anyway.
I tried flashing back to 5.0 using flashtool, but i got so many problems and errors, i bricked my phone twice.so when i finally got back to 6.0 I just said screw it.
I guess that it's impossible to extract the exploit which kingroot uses? I am looking for root d855 without kingroot and I see that it doesn't exist...
Just tried the 1 click with MM, script said fail, phone says do not unplug, flashing firmware, 0%, unsure what to do now...
I pulled battery and all is fine.. guess a sg update is in order...

How to root verizon HTC One M7?

I would like to root my HTC One M7 (Verizon).
I have been researching it and have gotten quite confused. I am a noob at rooting phones (Last time I used SRS Root on a POS Pantech phone). I have gathered that I should NOT trust KingoRoot or KingRoot (whatever the difference is) because they gather some sketchy info. So far i have gotten that I should unlock my bootloader, have S-OFF, then flash a custom recovery in order to gain SuperUser?
Is all of this necessary in order to mod games and spoof my GPS location on apps that do not allow "Allow Mock Locations" to be selected in the developers settings?
If all of that is necessary, what steps do I have to follow? What is the order of things?
Thanks for any help!

If Verizon allowed bootloader unlocking, yes, this would be true. S-OFF is NOT needed to root or flash custom recovery/ROMs, but it is nice having S-OFF...
For Verizon M7 owners, there's only one way to root, and it comes bundled with S-OFF anyway; it also costs $25, unfortunately, but this is currently the only method of obtaining S-OFF on any recent HTC device, so.. *shrug* More power to the hackers, I guess.
1. Install KingRoot. Once you're finished you can uninstall it, but you *do* need it in order to do this.
2. Install Sunshine apk.
3. Use KingRoot to obtain root access. You can now use apps that require root permissions to function. Your bootloader is still locked and you can NOT flash custom recovery or ROMs, etc.
4. Run the Sunshine app....let it do its thing. Pay the $25 by taking a photo of your credit card when they tell you to. When it is finished, your bootloader will be unlocked and you will have S-OFF. You can keep KingRoot as your root manager, but if is indeed sketchy, you should probably do a complete uninstall, then make sure to install a root manager (SuperSU or Superuser).
Note-- running "adb root" with the stock ROM will produce the error "adb cannot run as root on production builds." This means that adb commands that require root such as "adb remount" will not work, even if you're rooted. However, you can still get a root shell with "adb shell" and using the command "su" once you're in the shell.

what do you mean by "mod games"?? regarding the GPS thing..I've never come across an app that does not allow allow mock locations to be checked.. you can modify apps without root, as long as they are apps you installed yourself and you know what you're doing....lol. sometimes. Depending on the format of the files contained within the apk But if it's a system app or anything on the /system partition, you cannot do *anything* to them without root permissions.
good luck!

Thanks for clearing it up for me! However, I tried to use the latest version of KingRoot with no luck. It says there are no rooting strategies.

Root Lenovo A7020a40 after Marshmallow update

Hello,
I would like to root my Lenovo A7020a40 after the Marshmallow update safely, without breaking anything in it. Is there any way for doing it? I have tried one click root, kingo root and king root and none of them worked.
Is there any one click root or an easy to use, but 100% safe and working bat file what I can use for it?

Rooting Lollipop but SuperSU doesnt install?

I've tried what seems to be every single exploit available for the G3 to get root. IOroot, PurpleDrake, OneClickRoot both GUI and script and the manual way.
They all seem to complete succesfully but none of them installs SuperSU and when i try Root Checker i get denied.
I have tried KingRoot and it gives me full root, but would rather stay away from it as it seems dodgy and installs unwanted software.
What other options do I have? Downgrade to KitKat?

Yes, a downgrade to kit kat and re-rooting would work if you have the time to do so.
Or you can try kingroot again and then use this guide to replace kingroot with supersu... http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-lg-g3/general/replace-kingroot-superuser-guide-t3251013
