Hi guys would you recommend me to root the phone cuz android pay is the same thing as ss pay or whats ur recommendations? Thanks
Samsung pay will be accepted at all swipe stations not just nfc ones like android pay. If you root supposedly samsung pay won't work.

If you are running the official samsung stock but rooted firmware here is what you can do.
Android pay will not allow you to add cards while it detects root so if you disable
supersu in it's setting while you are adding credit cards & then re-enable supersu.
Root with Android pay should continue to work fine after re-enabling root but
if you want to add more credit cards you will have to un-root the phone first.
Please note, this method will not work on most all the custom roms.
This method only works using stock official firmware which is rooted.
Good luck!
Have a great evening...

Here at work we are gonna receive some Galaxy tab 3 10.1 tablets.
As known, the software on this tablet doesn't support multi-users. (android 4.2.2)
There is an app to do this (Multiple User Enabler or switchme), but this requires ROOT acces. I can't do that, because the tablet isn't mine. I don't want to take the risk to break it.
Does anyone know wich other options there are to do this?
Seen 3 multi-user apps and all require Root rights. I guess there's no option without root.
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
I'd be interested in a non root multiuser app for Tab10.1 aswell

It probably will never work without root!
It needes to change system files else you wont be able to switch anyhow...
The software doesnt support multi-user, so how would you want to change the software? Yup by rooting else you wont have access.

Could you tell me if nowadays (I own a Note 3) if you root the device you will never be able to use Samsung Pay anymore? I heard that now once rooted you will lose forever some features. Is this true?

More than likely as it's not considered 'secure' anymore. I know my bank app doesn't work with rooted phones.

Is there ANY way to get Android pay to work on EPF4? I really really dont want to fool with Odin and moving back. Honestly, I dont know what I am doing.
Thanks in advance.
to dave30534: can't help you. But on other hand I have the same issue after updating to 6.0.1 EPH5. Android Pay is here, but it has no reaction on cashier terminals. NFC works, transferred a file from my phone to another through NFC. Don't know what is the problem

No. Google only enables it on release builds. Update to the released version of marshmallow.

I have searched the forums. Is there a direct link? And must one use Odin or can we do it like we flashed the beta build?
Think I found it...
Is this it? https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24651430732238073
Dl to card then boot in recovery mode like last time?
You MUST use ODIN to get off of a beta build to a released build. There are no update options.
Once on a released build you can use the appropriate update with the corresponding build number to that you are on, and what you want to update to. That can be placed on your SD card to update.
Can someone please help me with this. I bought 2 of these phones at the same time in august, one was already rooted from the factory! No problem I'm using lucky patcher and all. The other will not root not matter what I do! I cant find any solid info on this.

Can you screen shot your kernel information in settings and then about phone so I can see what it says for the rooted kernel. And copying the entire system to use it on the other phone is possible. Just depends on certain things.
I guess I should of bought a rooted one myself...........
think that no one has the root yet on this phone, so, pay attention to the instructions that forum masters will give to you. You could be a HERO for the entire Sm-n920a community and users hahahah. Btw, i don't know your knowledge about this things but yes, is possible to do this. Obvious, when someone of the biggest users will teach you how to do what you need, you could share the system clone with us!
Not to mention there's a big donation for anyone that finds a root method. So if you really have a rooted at&t note 5 there could be money coming your way.

Where's this donation? We are close, also luckypatcher works WITHOUT root. Technically we already have root, it just sucks really bad.

I could of sworn I seen a bounty for the n920a like a year ago, but now I'm not finding anything. I should look before I comment apparently. However, much respect TechNyne66. I've been following you working a root method for a while now, and great job on being close.
@TechNyne66 It looks like he been out of the game for awhile, but try to contact Dan Rosenberg aka djrbliss. If anyone can help, he can.

Do you have a username? I got another member to join in again who says he knows how to complie kernels with ease. So lets hope this gets going! Everything is layed out we just need to get the code written. Remember anything is possible when you put you're mind to it, but this is with code. Kexec has worked in the past for locked bootloaders so I don't see why my notes in theory but plausible.

I shall look into it.
Can we get a system dump of your partitions? We just need your kernel zImage and I can put it together.
I'd really like to see a dump of the system partition.
Follow a guide a make a full system dump of your rooted phone and then make a nandroid backup.
Upload it to us and we can make a clone. Please!
If you have a real full root. We need your system dump to unlock at&t and Verizon both.

Chill bro I'm working on getting it from him. I've seen accident eng phones released by Samsung before so maybe it happened again.
There's no root for AT&T Note 5 SM-N920A if you are running Marshmallow with the Nov security update! If you are on this version you are screwedededed!!!! I tried every type of way to install firmwares PH4 ==> PH2 and I tried every version of firmware I could find on this planet. I have tried OGG. I have tried crashing my installation, then trying to downgrade.
Long story short; If you have an unlocked SM-N920A running Android 6.01 with Nov Security Patch I will definitely be donating to you if you upload. If you aren't a member of this forum I promise you that you are safe. The guys here will help you make a copy of the firmware which will not include your personal information. (Look for the guys with lots of Thanks, listen to them)
So if you are coming in from Google and you are wondering if you can root or downgrade now you know that you can't. I'm a beginner Android Developer who follows directions like a champion, save your time trying to downgrade it is fully blocked by the bootloader.
unlocked SM-920A upload coming soon

Hi guys
I'm thinking of going with a custom rom since Samsung have stopped security updates for the s9.
I'm not interested in root.
1) which rom will give the most stable performance with Google pay and banking apps? Back when I used to tinker with roms/root many years ago, it was a cat and mouse game between safety net and magisk. What is the current picture? How often should I expect google pay to break?
2) which rom gives the best battery performance?
3) which roms have automatic updates?
Thanks in advance

Thanks buddy. Will do.
How easy is the process to revert back to stock rom if I'm having issues with banking apps?
How reliable is Google pay with these custom roms?
I don't have the appetite to continually have to make adjustments to my phone to make gpay work.
I would prefer more of a set it and forget it approach.

Just flash stock rom back with odin
And just hold power button and you have a gpay

I don't need root so can install the rom as it is.
What are the chances of success with gpay and banking apps working with and without root?
What is your experience with gpay breaking?
How often does this happen where a workaround is needed?
Thanks

Can you send me a link to the exact rom that you're referring to and the instructions?
All the instructions I'm reading require TWRP etc. I'm looking for the least invasive method of flashing.
Cheers
