I am on kk 4.4.2 with cwm ver 6.0.4.4 i think. But philz touch recovery fails to install. Where may I be going wrong?

I have clockwork recovery 6.0.3.3 installed and runnig CM 11. Do I need to update to latest recovery 6.0.4.5 or can leave the one I have. If I need to update, which is the easiest way? Thanks.
Which is the better method, flashing a new Philz recovery via ODIN, or flashing it via a custom recovery.
Also, can flashing the wrong custom recovery hard brick my phone?

I was on PhilZ and i flashed the latest TWRP through PhilZ no problems

I recently using Odin to go to 4.4.2, using Philz recovery. I installed Goomanager and tried to install TWRP but it would not take. Can I just flash TWRP via Odin? or is there more to it than that.

I am stuck in CWM-based Recovery v5.5.0.4 on my S3 while flashing CM11. I read that I need the latest CWM to flash this.
How to I update CWM from the recovery mode? Where can I find the zip file?

Download the latest version of Philz Touch for the d2lte (it's based on CWM) and flash it via CWM or use Odin to flash it.

Does anyone have ClockworkMod Recovery (CWM) touch 6.0.4.8 or higher for the sgh-i747?
You need it to install the latest gapp packages and I don't want to switch to TWRP
I've never seen a higher version doe the d2lte. The only other version of CWM I have seen was Philz Touch which has been discontinued as far as I know. Even his version may have been based on 6.0.4.7.
