I have clockwork recovery 6.0.3.3 installed and runnig CM 11. Do I need to update to latest recovery 6.0.4.5 or can leave the one I have. If I need to update, which is the easiest way? Thanks.

Anyone,
In ROM Manager I choose to update the Recovery and it changes to 2.5.0.7.
If I reboot from ROM manager into Recovery it is 2.5.0.7
However if I power down and come into recovery via Fastboot, it is 2.5.0.1.
So I assume when you reboot it somehow loads the 2.5.0.7 (i would guess this is why I have a update.zip in root after this option)
My question is, how can I permanently update the recovery vs this on the go method?
Thanks,
Daniel
That method only does a "fake flash" of that particular Recovery which ROM Manager can use. It doesn't touch your original flashed Recovery.
The latest Unrevoked will let you update to the latest Clockwork Mod Recovery permanently: http://unrevoked.com/#desire

i downloaded cwm 2.5.0.7 from the cyanogen mod website but when i apply update.zip in stock recovery it gives me an e-signature verification error. im not rooted so i cant use rom manager and im on the new 2.2.1 update. does anyone have a working update.zip so i can get into clockwork recovery?
Not an expert, but I believe you need to be rooted to run clockwork...
AND the new update hasn't been rooted yet.
I honestly had issues running that version of ClockWork Recovery myself. 1.8.1.7 runs just fine.

I have a rootet Desire (via unrevoked) with s-off and Oxygen 2.1.3 ROM. I flashed a new clockwork version (3.0.0.5) .img file via ADB. If I boot my phone and enter the clockwork recovery the new version is used. If I reboot the phone using ROM manager it enters the old version of clockwork recovery.
So I think, I have 2 recovery versions on my phone. How can this be avoided? I just want to have the new one.
Found this in Cyanogenmod forum.
CWM 3.0.0.5 is permanently flashed so it's always there. 2.5.0.7 is a temporary recovery as when you reboot with rom manager, it uses the zip file that comes with it

Hi,
I have installed ClockworkMOD v3 recently. I heard that I cannot flash radio directly trough it, so I thought about downgrading to CWM v2.5. Can it be done? Is it like normal installing of CWM or there are some additional steps?
And yes, I have S-Offed my phone with AlphaRevX and rooted following this guide:

Just in case that it is needed to mention.
It isn't needed to flash an older version.
Go into ROM manager and hit Flash Recovery, it will be version 2.5.0.7, and then boot into it from the app.
Booting normally into recovery will enter whatever version you flashed, but if you boot from ROM manager it will be temporarily 2.5.0.7.

Thank you for quick and precise response

I am new to Samsung having come from EVO. I liked that EVO had recovery partition keeping recovery separate from kernel. If I want to update to the latest CWM recovery, do I have to wait until it is updated in my kernel? In ROM manager there is "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery." When I click this, it downloads a recovery-update.zip to the internal sdcard. What happens if I flash this zip?
