To get cloud printing to work I needed to use the printing option in the "more networks" settings on my 12.2. It works fine. However I have added a user and, when logged in as that user, there is no "more networks" section in settings and I can not get Google cloud printing to work. Any thoughts?

Hi.
When you tap on an address on a contact the phone opens the app Loactaions. I find google maps better and would like to use this instead. Is there a way to decide which app that is being launched when you tap on a contact's address?

It doesn't look like you can disable Locations without rooting the phone. Locations can't be disabled via the setting menu. The next best option is to install "Select Other Map for HTC" by "Kenshinn.TW" off the market. Just select use by default and it'll just open Google Maps directly in the future.
"Default SMS" setting missing from "Wireless & Networks > More"
Nexus 5X , Nougat 7.0, stock. Unrooted.
I use Hangouts for SMS (I like being able to see conversations on all my devices)
It used to be that you could set the Default SMS by going:
Settings > Wireless & Networks > More > Default SMS App
Apparently Nougat has removed that setting.
I have searched pretty carefully through the various settings screens and I cannot find the new location for this setting.
Thoughts?
It has moved I believe.
Settings > Apps > Click 'cog' icon in top right > SMS App
Nice one, thanks.
FWIW: Installing Allo does *not* change default SMS.
So. When I set up this phone last month, I added my Google account and all my Google Contacts sync'd to the phone.
But... no sync since then.
In Contacts, if I create a new contact, my only destination options are "Device" or "SIM1." Google is not an option there. So I wind up saving stuff on the SIM because where else am I going to do it?
In Settings -> Accounts -> Google -> Sync Options, "Sync Contacts" isn't even listed, much less checked.
Help?
Edit: in "App ops' for "Google Account Manager," it says "Read / Write Contacts - Aug 5." Which is about right...
So I reinstalled my phone a few days ago with Android Pie. However, I can't disable the sync for the google account - it's all on or all off.
Normally, one would go to Settings -> Accounts -> (your Google account) -> Account Sync -> Toggle every switch off. Like below seen in 'sync settings toggle'.
However, for the same screen, I get like seen in 'sync settings no toggles'. The only thing I can do to prevent my Google account from syncing, is disable all sync in Settings -> Accounts. But that disables everything, also accounts I want to sync.
I have not found a solution for this yet. Anyone?
Really no one had this before or has a idea to fix it?

Click to collapse
Not exactly sure what you mean but when i go to Settings -> Accounts -> (your Google account) -> Account Sync
i get what you see in your first screenshot, i am however on 9.0.3.
Just updated to OOS 9.0.3, still the same screen (right). No option to disable specific syncs, it's all on or all off :/
Edit: Ah me... Enabling sync for all accounts all of a sudden revealed the switches...
Android "Backup to Google Drive" - thoughts on privacy and security implications?
Setting up a new Pixel 3 XL, Android offers to "Backup to Google Drive". It says "your data will be uploaded to Google and encrypted with your Google account password".
Does using this service introduce any privacy or security concerns (above and beyond those intrinsic to using Android in general)?
Does it give Google any additional access to data from my phone?
I don't think it gives them anything they couldn't already get. The backup process is great when you factory reset your phone or get a new one. Data like call logs, text messages, wifi networks and passwords, etc are all saved in the cloud and applied automatically when setting up the new device.
