My phone just got a notification that it was downloading a software update from AT&T. It then asked me to restart and now it's 50% done updating.
Just wondering what the update does? Anyone know?
Got the notification, haven't done it

Same here. Have no idea what it is. I'm coming up empty on Google too.
Yup, installed earlier, only thing I have noticed is the stagefright fix.

178 apps were "optimized" on restart. Can't see or feel anything different.

Apps are always optimized after an update.

The apps that are impacted by the update are. 178's a pretty low number but the update was only 80(ish)MB. Going from 4.X to 5.X my Note 12 optimized 600+ apps on restart. Services are considered apps too. Right after I rebooted Play Services updated itself too. To 8.1.15.

It's an app, here is what you would have seen before the update
Got mine too. Updated and poked around the settings and features to see if Samsung added anything that they removed from the Note 4. Nothing so far.
I also checked to see if the aggressive task killing stopped. I'm getting a consistent 6 apps staying loaded after some tests, previously it was four or five depending on whats open. Anyone else notice this?
I just updated and Googled idk.
There's a thread in the general section. Looks like the update fixed the wireless charging issue many of us were having as well as improving performance a bit.

Since about a week the battery life of my one X has become terrible. According to the battery usage screen, google maps seems to be draining all the juice. Im not actually using gm though, so something must be going on in the background.

Does this sound familiar to anyone and is there a solution to the problem?
Thanks in advance!

Just disable it

And how do I do that? I can close the process, but it will automatically go back on. Disabling the app itself is not something I know how to do and not really something I would like to do either.
Perhaps one other thing of importance: when I open maps (or now) it says location services are turned off, while they are not.

disable from settings app manager OR
get greenify from playstore and just greenify it
problem solved :good:
Also, where do you live at? Might be your not connected to the right sattelites for your region. You could go to play store and download faster fix and make sure your phone is reading off the right satellites.
A couple of days ago, a notification to update SPDClient appeared in Galaxy App Store (Samsung Apps). But what is this app for, and what does the update do? The descriptions does not show any relevant information and there are many comments asking what does this app do.
Does anyone know about this app?

It tells you in the app description what it is.

I also got that and was little afraid of updating, worrying if Samsung trying to sneak some security update for Knox, or root discovery etc.(I'm stock rooted). But it seems to be internal driver related to data exchange over networks, possibly updated due to new hardware like VR or S-watch. I updated it now, so in case I buy Samsung watch or some other new hardware in near future, I won't go crazy wondering why it doesn't work, since once you decline the update, usually doesn't come back anymore.

Attached a screenshot. This has been happening for a couple months now, maybe a bit longer.
I don't think it's a hardware issue as it really only happens in the Gmail app. Also, not sure it would be captured via screenshot if it was some kind of loose connection.
Doesn't happen anywhere else that I can think of off hand. Lasts for about a second then clears up on its own.
It has persisted over a couple builds at least. Some from clean installs as well. I root the phone straight away, so next time I'll try stock for a bit to rule any of that out.
Hoping it's not just me.

Yep, same bug here and only with Gmail app http://imgur.com/rjAZE9J
Yep, I'm getting the same
Those occur for me as well, that's why inbox is my choice of app
I was getting to. I sideloaded the march ota yesterday (that has the performance fixes) and it is no longer occuring. Not sure if the two are related, but that is the only change thing that has changed for me. Was definitely annoying..
Had the same on 6.0.1, moved to android N and t desapired

unfortunately only with Android N the problem goes away, with MHC19J is still present
Glad I'm not the only one and my device isn't defective. It's a minor annoyance knowing that now.
Happening to me as well, on stock. Haven't gotten the March ota yet.

Weird. Definitely gone for me after applying the March ota. Did you wipe the cache partition after applying the update? I always do after any update.

flash-all.bat every Factory Image.
If you have not yet seen the glitching on the MHC19J, not try to reproduce it with open/close Gmail, closing all recent apps and re-open Gmail... because you could have a nasty surprise
I was wondering if someone who updated to nougat can make a mini-review. How is the battery, the performance, are the bugs fixed? I want to update, but if it's not better than mm, i'll just install a custom software.
It's been fine for me. Twitter didn't work at first but seemed to have fixed itself without even rebooting it. I'd heard many other people have trouble with apps not working but most of them said it was fixed after rebooting. It really depends on luck tbh. Some people are having loads of trouble while others like myself thankfully have no problems.
I think this won't be the final version of Nougat by Lenovo given it's only 7.0 and it arrived earlier than the date they announced.

Yeah everyone's CPU usage seems to have a high percentage for some reason. I haven't noticed any difference in battery life really so it could just be a glitch. Does a factory reset fix it?

My compass is working fine. Have you cleared the apps cache and data and allowed location in the apps permissions. Do this via the app manager/the app you want/storage(for cache and data) or permissions (for what the app is allowed to use).
Edit, Sorry just noticed you are a experienced member so ignore my comment on how to fix the problem as you would have already tried this.
quiet, do not worry. I finally just restarted, and the compass libraries have started to work again. thanks anyway

I get 771/2734 (with the June 22 update, just installed and ran the app). which is at least better than the A52s score in their database it seems.

Did you disable or remove DiagMonAgent? That bugs the system out and makes the SystemUI process use an EXTREMELY HIGH amount of the CPU while spamming errors. Just my experience.

Could you share some info on how to track these errors? I have a bunch debloated and seems good 20% of battery drain goes without any app being tied to it, perhaps finding errors would help

Well, if you're rooted you can use MatLog to track the errors of these apps, you can also set it up with adb if you want. Make sure to set the Log Level to errors in the 3-dot-menu.
