My friend was playing with my phone and he got into code *#9090# and click on first one.
after that it is keep rebooting the phone and does not show any cell signal.
Phone is rebooting every 30 second and during that time i tried to access the code again and it show blank.
The setting-> More -> mobile data shows that insert the sim card.
The only solution for this issue to get a warranty replacement from Samsung. As far as I know based on the threads which I read for this issue, no one has a concrete solution to solve the issue yourself.
Why do people keep using this code???
What does it do? I'd explore it myself, but I'm afraid to.

Hi guys,
ok... I have an HTC desire... originally on Virgin Mobile and now unlocked. I'm an O2 customer...
I have rooted and installed the Leedroid rom... originally at version 1.8b. Everything was fine.... until I had a corruption on the SD card.... which I fixed when I got a second following a couple of days of "mounted read only." A day or so later, I lost connection to the O2 network and have been unable to regain it, despite several ROM (I'm now running Leedroid 1.9) and radio reflashes.
I still have access to wi-fi, gps etc.
I have tested my sim card in another phone (all ok) as well as other sim cards in my phone (doesn't work.) I have also swapped and tried another O2 sim.
The phone detects all the major networks... just won't let me connect.
The error message I get when trying to connect to a network manually is "your sim card does not allow a connection to this network"
I've obviously checked that the phone isn't IMEI blocked etc. I've also tried the sim unlock from the fastboot menu, the switching on and off of the radio, airplane mode... lots and lots of stuff.
I really am at my wits end with this issue. I love the desire... but it's obviously of no use to me without the phone element!!!
Can anyone please suggest something to solve this problem???? Could the corruption of the sd card have caused this in some way, despite several rom/radio reflashes since? I really want to stick with the desire, but at the moment I effectively have a £400 brick....
Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to provide.....
Shep
Firstly this is not a development issue, its a question.....
But anyway, when the phone is telling you that you cannot connect to the network is it allowing you to enter an unlock code at all? Or have you ever "unlocked" the phone in the past?
You're right Lenny... apologies for creating the thread in the wrong part of the forum.... perhaps a mod could move it....
Yes... the phone was unlocked from Virgin mobile prior to me buying it [from ebay.] I didn't perceive this to be an issue, given that I actually had connection to O2 for a day or two before losing it...
No... the phone/sim is not asking for a code when I attempt to connect.
Thanks,
Shep

and did it stop letting you on randomly, or did you do something immediately before?
Nope... completely random. I was in a poor reception area and initially put it down to this... but then it never returned and I'm now back at home having had zero connection for a week.
I think that my repair of the SD card was after I initially lost connection. But as I said, I'm not sure whether the SD card corruption is a red herring.
Call me sceptical, but I doubt you would of been able to check whether it was on the IMEI blacklist or not unless you worked for a phone network.
It's not public knowledge and someone working for O2 shouldn't have told you if it was or wasn't.
Also, even if they did and the IMEI listed on the handset is NOT blacklisted, as was possible with WinMo devices, you may have unintentionally changed the recorded IMEI on the handset to one that IS blacklisted - unlikely though I'll admit.

the sd card should not have anything to do with radio.
Go to dialer and dial *#*#4636#*#*
then press phone info
done.... what info do i need to post?

try to go down the bottom and press the "turn radio off" button
then when its turned off try to turn it back on, then see what happens.
Just done it and no changes.
Did it several times between reflashes too... not so much as a flicker...
No idea then, unless the IMEI has been blacklisted.
Ok.... thanks anyway.
Any luck getting this to work? Am in the same situation - t-Mobile unlocked Desire with a 3 SIM?
Edit: I have intermittent reception/connection to 3 now - I did a lot of recovering/trying RUUs which would partially load on Win 7 then just disappear...assume they should have done something more than that. What seems to have helped - and I partially had this problem in my Nokia E65 - was to place a piece of paper (SIM sized) behind the SIM to 'push' it onto the contacts. Well, maybe it was a software issus but it's now my luck paper and I'm not removing it!
Gone again. Very annoying.
RUU'd to RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed (unbranded 2.2) and still no luck.
Any ideas?
Guys, I am having this problem of random rebooting. I first thought it was random but then noticed that whatever ROM I use, this reboot happens when network signal is lost.
Now i read every thread and discussion google could give me on this problem but cant seem to figure out how this happens. I wanted to substantiate my find, hence ran logcat for few hours. Now i cant seem to understand what it means.
Can anyone please take a look at the attached text file or reason out how and why this happens. Is there a pattern I am missing?. All i notice is that my phone vibrates in my pocket after an hour when it is preparing the SD card after a reboot. Thats it
Thanks in advance.

OK I found that defy is rebooting on no network and I was able to replicate the same situation. Is there any fix to this issue. Can anyone look into the code and tell me a tweak where the phone reboots because there is very less or no signal. It happens even if phone is kept in 2G/3G/Automatic.
Here is similar thread in motorola support forums
https://supportforums.motorola.com/thread/40973?start=0&tstart=5
Have noticed posts about this -- and in fact it's not restricted to Defy by any means, though overall not that common. Even the Nokia N8 forums occasionally mention the problem. The most successful cure seems to be swapping out the SIM. This does not appear to work for everyone, but generally people are so imprecise on forums it's really hard to know if they just pulled a SIM from another phone (so, being as old or even older than the one they were using), or used a new one. So, if you have not already, I would get a new SIM, "approved" by your carrier and try it. Otherwise I would return the phone.
Thanks mate. Yes I read a lot about sim being changed but no where did I see it being solved. I have spoken to motorola support and plan to send it next week. Anyway I will change the type of sim once to see if it makes a difference. I hate my phone being ripped open here because I have very less confidence in these authorised centres who deal with every damn phone.
Thanks again.
I'm running MIUI on my UK Desire Z, on a T-Mobile pay monthly contract. The phone frequently goes into Emergency Calls Only mode for no apparent reason, then goes back to normal in a couple of minutes.
Has anyone else had this problem?

I have not had this problem, but I believe that once the phone goes into Emergency Mode, it should require a battery pull and/or a reboot to return to a normal state of operation. Perhaps try a battery pull? This is supposed to be a security feature so that if something happens your location can be tracked... or so I've heard.

That's the strange thing - it rectifies itself after a minute or two WITHOUT requiring a battery pull or any other kind of intervention. I'm just wondering what puts it into this state in the first place???

I think it may also be a sign of a bad SIM card. Actually yeah, I don't know why I didn't think of that first. If it were me I'd try a replacement card and see if that resolves it.

Trying a "replacement card" sounds easier said than done. Do phone companies issue replacement SIMs without the need to port the number from the original SIM?

Yes. SIMs go bad from time to time, and they can easily issue you a new one (keeping your existing number). Not sure about UK, but in the US, the easiest way is just walk into your carrier's store, and they can fix you up. Some carrier ware technically supposed to charge you $10-20 for a new SIM, but they will often overlook it. Really, the things cost close to nothing. And the SIM simply enables you to use their service, and for them to make money off of you. So why not give you one for free?

The phone moves to 'emergency calls only' intermittently when switching networks or turning in/out of airplane mode, etc.. if its staying in that state, your phone is either having trouble keeping network connection, or isn't properly registering on the network. Id check to make sure your APN's are correct and if they are then id go about replacing the SIM possibly.

Have the same problem, but need to reboot my phone to work(( Have no idea except bad SIM-card. But it's registered to the person I've never known, so I can't change it((
I'm having the same problem in uk on orange (signal sharing with tmo).
As I wright this I have 1 bar but says SOS. Bam.... 2 bars orange. It seems to be when it would normally switch to tmo. Been like it for 48 hrs now.
I'm going to give it another day or 2 then investigate further if needed. Could be they are doing network maintenance.
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
it might due to soft bugs or sim or singal issue. Need more info for investigation.
SYMPTOM: can't see any mobile networks
BACKGROUND: I've been using htc one x for a month now. Initially on three, but their signal was unusable at home, so sim-unlocked and switched a couple of weeks ago to giffgaff ( a virtual network on top of the UK o2 network).
All has been fine, until today. I sent a few texts & calls in the morning, and mobile data was working. Since then, I can't see any mobile network.
wifi is fine.
Search Networks pops up "Error while searching for networks" and finds none.
No software changes of any sort since last successful call. No changes at all today, at least until I tried to diagnose the problem.
Running stock rom, with the WW update of a couple of weeks ago (1.28.771.9.CL56522 release-keys) -- neither S-OFF nor unlocked bootloader.
Nothing obvious to me in the normal or radio logcat logs.
The only thing I did after the last successful call was to run sensorly to try and map a trip. I've used this before without any problems. It got no connection but I thought nothing of that. I've since uninstalled it just in case it could somehow be interfering with the radio.
THINGS I'VE TRIED:
No, the airplane mode isn't on, and mobile is. I've toggled airplane from settings and power switch, many times
recreated the APN
checked other phones - yes there are a number of networks visible
tried the original o2 sim - same problem
safe mode
cold boot
reboot, reboot, reboot
obviously I haven't pulled the battery...
turned off wifi, in case it was somehow interfering
HTC diagnostic tool
factory reset
confirmed imei is not blocked
Any ideas? Bearing in mind that I'm looking for something which can happen spontaneously.
Interestingly, while writing this I've just noticed that Baseband version shows as Unknown. That worries me - is it possible that my radio partition has spontaneously corrupted itself?
I did speak to 02 support - they said to take it into a shop for warranty repair. I don't want to try a custom ROM just yet -- not when I might have to use the warranty. But is there any way to force it to reinstall the stock rom (preferably not involving windows)?
I have the same problem as well and flashing custom roms did not solve it for me. But for me even the IMEI number is shown as UNKNOWN...I haven't done anything special to get this issue, one day when I woke up the phone could not connect to any network.
I have tried a lot of different methods but with no success. I don't think we can do anything about the baseband without S-OFF.
If a hard reset fails, then it's time to think about returning the unit. Either get a refund or get it replaced.
This may be irrelevant; but I've had this happen to me on my GNexus. I solved it by going back to stock and it just fixed itself overnight.....
my HTC One X did the same after about 2 weeks. Gave it back to supplier, waiting my replacement.
Even tested with a different SIM card, did a hard reset. Problem stayed the same.
Im curious did any of you find a resolution to this? it happened to me a while ago but yet to fing a solution. HTC refuse to fix under warranty because it is unlocked.. i am currently waiting for the next official update to see if that fixes anything but the way things are looking that could be a while..

It sounds like a fault, probably the radio chip has just stopped working, no software is going to repair that. If it was a software problem, there would be hundreds or thousands of people all having the same issue.

I am having problems with a Samsung Note 2 that I found. I thought it was my lucky day, but when I put my SIM card into the phone, the phone works and has service and I can receive and make calls. However, for some reason, when I lock the phone, the service just dies out and I have to unlock the phone and wait a few seconds to a few minutes before I get service back and can use the phone again. Please let me know if anyone has experienced these kinds of problems before and/or have any solutions that might work.
P.S. I'm not much of a phone techie but I spent a whole day rooting the phone, adding CWM, and adding the Jedimaster-X ROM on the phone, hoping that this would fix the problem but it did not. Any advice or help is wanted! Thank you in advance!

I haven't tried it with wifi. I just know that the service bar goes from having 4 bars to a crossed out O right after I lock my screen. I can see the crossed out O when I re-light the screen by pressing the power or home buttons. I have tried various SIM cards and still no change. I also tried changing the ROM, no change.
