So I have this idea, I hope someone in HTC can do this (Ideally this should be done by all manufacturers)
1. App is submitted in Play Store - Google adds it
2. App is quality checked by HTC for each HTC device before it shows up in say HTC one X play store. Same done by Sammy and others
3. If any problem HTC refuses the app into the Play Store for HTC one X / or for any HTC device, till the developer fixes the problem
4. Plz HTC implement it
Why should they do it ? Because we give them money and they should place quality control over the apps so we get the best experience (smooth, takes advantage of hardware as per each device, end spam)
Edit. I still stick to my point that brand that loose value due to hiccups of apps is the open handset alliance. Google will come out the winner in the end because their handsets are developer handsets thus the apps will always run smoothly on them.
I think the open handset alliance should take an active part in screening for quality of app.
Good idea, but impossible in the long run. There are far too many apps to make this anywhere near workable.
LoL
You serious? Every app has several versions and there are like tons of htc models out there. Even if we don't count custom firmware it is a impossible task..
And this not even a petition.. you are just a lazy bum hoping someone will do the job for you. So if you cant even find the effort for testing out apps... Then just use the standard apps

My favorite statement in this case: buy an iPhone . Or at least a windows phone.
Google gave so much free space to manufacturers, that it impossible, neither in long, nor in short run.
The only way for HTC, is to create own analogue of store with games best passing for your device (apps compatibility is already very good). Like nvidia did.

My question is, what does HTC get for doing this?
Why do you even want HTC to do this? Apps in the market are by default supported by all phones that pass Google's CTS tests anyway, and all OHA member companies' phones must pass that test before being given the green light by Google to be released.
Do you want them to bankrupt faster?
It is nowhere near being possible.
and I must say I find your approach very very unhealty!
you can not ask for anything from anyone just because u pay them.
HTC is a phone manufacturer and does not promise you anything about any android application.
even if we try to take this approach seriously, HTC is putting sense on top of android which gives us HTC's own way of using your android device, with their own apps in some way. that is what you pay them for.
It's not HTC's job to check the quality of APPs in the Play Store.
This is like saying HP should be checking software is compatible for thier PCs running Windows.
(The software developer or Microsoft should be checking in that case - not HP)
APPs should be either checked by Google (who run the Play Store and Android) or by the developer of the APP itself.
HTC are a hardware manufacturer, not an APP developer....
the public do this already.
Just be careful what you download, pick apps with many downloads and/or many high ratings.
PLEASE NOT!
This wouldn't be a good idea ... Just think about how long it takes to put Sense 4.5 on top of Jelly Bean release. Quality checking apps by manufactures would definitely be a step in the wrong direction.
It would be better when HTC releases a plain Android (asop) version for the HOX.
complete useless and rubbish imo
no way, small company dont care end user
Maybe if you say
"Pretty please with a cherry on top"
They might just do it xD
What a ridiculous suggestion. Let them concentrate on producing great hardware and software.

What does this have to do with caring about the end user?
Nothing at all.
Still I would argue that if apple can ensure that all apps use the hardware why can't the open handset alliance do the same in assisting google in screening apps. As to why I made the thread I recently downloaded drag racing and immediately I had a notification full of ads which I don't mind however I uninstalled it and now the ads pop up on the screen whenever I switch on WiFi.
HTC and other manufacturers including Samsung need to step up if they want better quality apps for the end user. I would like to play a gameloft game without having to add a mod , changing kernels etc
Just my opinion and yes someone commented of me being lazy .... Yes its a public holiday here so nothing better to do other than making a thread.
No
Hell no!
Play Store is completely Google's thing, plus I don't want HTC fooling around with the way the Play Store works, AT ALL. Google's trying to make the Play Store a cleaner place I believe.

Then rate the app with one star and write a comment. That way you'll help all the others that consider downloading it and hint the developer that the app needs improvement. And vice versa - look at the ratings and comments of others before installing an app. Play Store is for people that can decide for themselves if they want the app or not. Anyone wanting to live in a walled garden and put his/her trust in someone else to not allow "bad" apps (basically those that hurt that someone's interests) should go with iOS.

Hello poeple of the internet, my name is Alex and I just bought an Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1.I was so happy when I bought it but now I`am a bit upset, because I can't run on this device ''cool'' games like Batman, Real Racing 3, Asphalt ( any version), Need for Speed Most Wanted, and other stuff like this. I am able to install the app, but when I'm openning it it says (name app) has stopped. What would be the reason ? and in NFS MW It is a huge lag, in the home screen, after touching the screen , It simply crashes somehow. The sound is broken , and I can`t even go to settings or back to the Samsung Home Screen, only by holding the ON button at the top of the device.
Please tell me why It this happening to me? And how can I fix this!
P.S : the device has only 3 days.
Hi !
I think this may have something to do with the 'special' specs of our device
It has an x86 CPU (similar to the ones used in PCs) and a PowerVr SGX 544MP2 GPU and that may present a problem to some of the games as out tab is somewhat different
I'm not very sure of anything that i've said above (it is what I think is wrong) and therefore if someone smarter than me comments please follow their advice
I believe there MIGHT be a fix for this in the development section. Please browse that and if you find the fix congrats
Cheers
P.S. This might help

I'll Shed a little more little on this l As @Nitro_123 said the "special" specs are to "blame" well kinda of.
Apps especially games usually contain native code which is basically code the talk directly to the processor, Intel and Arm processors talk a different language so normally any app you pulled of a phone for example wouldn't run, however intel created a translator library called libhoudini which does the magic, hence houdini I suppose.
Right now the best source of information for libhoudini is the android-x86 google group, do a search for libhoudini and see whats in there, I would assume the Android-IA official sight might have a FAQ about it but i've not checked.
Basically there plenty of things to try and tweak if things don't quite work right
The important part starts at point 4
1. The inevitable rant:
- If it wasn´t for the Stylus I would go for the Ipad Air... Why? 16GB only - No 32 or 64 available for me - and no way to move 90% of Games and big to SD without root.
- graphics for example RealRacing3 - Graphics on Note 10.1 LTE 2014 very bad compared to ipad4 Don't get me wrong, compared with other games graphics rock... But compared to an Ipad4 they just suck.
Have both - and best comparison you get in the car selection menu. On the ipad4 I can read even the printing on the trucks in the back... on it's just a blurry paste.
- KNOX
2. Please DON´T bother to write here, if your post is plain stupid - sorry to be offensive - Android/This and other android related forums were once great, until it became big and for the masses - so it had to be dumbed down to a level where we are now with no end in sight
- If you dont know what I mean then dont post, you are one of them.
Examples:
-- Samsungs remote deactivation as theft protection sure won't be supported much longer, because dumb user support is costing carriers too much money.
-- 2 SD is not working as it should be because for dumb users it createt to much trouble so now we have the f*****g internal eMMC posing as EXTERNAL SD
-- permissions - soon we will have no way to change them and shut down spying features of - for example torchlight needing full internet access and contacts - thanks to dumb users
3. I know this is a dilemma - this forum should be for all users - old ones and newcommers - It helped me a lot to enjoy and use and get so sad to see the downfall
but soemwhere should be a line and this was crossed with a long time ago
-- All hopes are now with UBUNTU which should work on Note3 and Note 10.1 2014 - comming middle to end 2014
-- Hopes of what: Not being for dumb people
I have no clue about Linux/Ubuntu - same as I started with - but I learned/experimented/read - and I avoided stupid quesions and postings - looking at Linux / Ubuntu forums its still like heaven. Tons of stuff to read, forums are full intelligent questions and responses, because those people actually have an IQ above the average user now - who has to be able to register to a damn forum
4 :victory: What I actually wanted to know
Actually I have ignored now what I expect from others: read and inform more than a day before posting
But here we go:
- I want so swap external with internal SD (mostly for my games) have not found a to do this without root ( I know there isnt any )
+Is there a way without at least permanent root?
+How reliable are root-requiering options like: modyfying vold.fstab or Int2ext or others? - had sometimes trouble like dublicate files - folders - crashes after some time. Especially after reboots with those solutions on my Note 1
+What is the best root solution- maybe with hide root option (integrated or external)? so Samsung HUB (Video, Learning...) and mirroring stays usable?
But it has to work with an Internal - External SD swapping even if temporarily deactivated/hidden for the metioned Samsung stuff to work
+ Knox should / must be untouched

the more useless answers appear the harder it is for intelligent newcommers to read through all the stuff, to get to the point/solution.

but

B user experiences are not good
C Could/Should be what I am looking for but no user experience posted because - forgotten about - thread title/tags not correct
Not all apps are able to be put on the sd card without root but some are, go to : settings , general tab, down to application manager, swipe over to SD card then checkmark apps.
Samsung hub you go can put music/movies by going to that app and settings menu button then choose ext SD for storage.

WTF no stupid useless answers please this is XDA DEVELOPERS not some thread for users that cant wipe their own ass and dont know the rudimentary stuff!
Or did my question sound like I couldnt wipe my ass?
Do you have rooted and disabled root temporarily to use Learning / Video Hub?
Did the temporary unroot cause problems with Folder Mount / Directory Bind / modyfying vold.fstab or Int2ext?
Does Chainfires hideroot work in a way that Learning/ Video hub is not affected? or is there any other possibility to hide root that is working?
For the Note1 and old 10.1 it took almost half a year to make all this work... seems Note 3 and Note 10.1 2014 are doomed because more and more stupid users come to this forum/ Android in general and devs are just not willing to keep up with all the bulls**t here.

No comment on the ass wipery.
On point 1 though, hasn't it been well documented that apps (games) aren't optimised for this tablet yet? Which would explain why they look "blurrier" on this tablet compared to the ipad. Even though this tablet actuallly has higher resolution. Almost certainly its a fault with the app.
Now I would wait for you to randomly shout abuse, but I doubt I'll bother reading this thread again, so go for it.
Asking for help while insulting people seems like a bold strategy. I hope it works out for you.
Development for a Knox-free root for the WiFi model; you need to understand people do this for FREE or by donation. If you're so impatient, I recommend you either learn how to do it yourself (see how hard it is) or donate and wait patiently for a kind developer to do it for you. I don't know why you would have bought this tablet fully knowing about Knox, and needing to root to move your games to SD. Calling everyone else stupid is childish, grow up.
Also, you can still root, it's not like its impossible. So what you void your warranty, you get what you want if it's that important to you.
I didn't buy this tablet over an iPad because of games and tablet optimization. If that was of importance immediately I would have bought an iPad. You have to understand that this tablet is one of a handful of tablets that has this high of a resolution. Until there is more supporting hardware on the market (next year) you will likely not see too many apps / games taking full advantage of the higher resolution.
I bought this tablet for the fact I will likely have it for 3-4 years and I see Android quickly catching up to Apple in the tablet space within a year. I'll take improved hardware and future support for it as a positive, not a negative. Game developers will come around to optimizing soon, as will a Knox-free root.
Go yell at Samsung for KNOX, or for their warranty policy, but not developers who are doing you a service.

optimised? Android? Well you know how far optimization can go for android devices... just look at all games that are available for ios and android (including the tegra optimized stuff... its like comparing xbox360(Aandroid) games to xbox one(iOS) games the difference in graphics quality is huge...
reasons... not cost effective - profitable (much more android users are downloading cracked apps then iOS users)
Android will stay in that matter always far behind iOS

I know your seeking an answer to a problem........ I truly try to help people and question do need to be asked.
I agree that 90% of what is written does not need to be.
I'm also sick and tired of posts like this "My tablet stopped working after I rooted, need help"
The OP does not give any details on the original post and it takes 15 post to get out of them (info that should have been in the first post) what exactly is wrong, what model number they have, what firmware build number they have, are they rooted, what version of Odin they are using, what recovery version they have installed. Sometimes when you ask these questions you get half of the information and have to ask again. Posters install custom firmware without reading the complete post by the developer explaining what they need and exactly how to do it, they don't follow the directions and you have to point out there errors.
So I can see your anger about posters and postings but your anger and cockiness is uncalled for......
Good luck with your search, I hope you find an answer that suits you.
Please don't reply to this post as it will contradict your rude point.
I think I see your issue and might know a solution, Flyer.michael.
First, you seem to be looking for a 0x0 Knox root. See below, as I think this method will work for the 605 LTE model:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2501700
Second, you wanted some kind of apps to SD option. Looks like there are some options on the Play Store, but you might want to look into this one:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.droidsail.dsapp2sd
This requires root, but it seems like you can move / link apps to your SD as needed. Again, not sure if this is what you were looking for but it might be worth a shot if you're rooted, not sure if this even refers to what you were wanting. I did read on some other forums that Samsung has some issues with Apps 2 SD and it may be a bigger problem than can be fixed with a root method.
Lastly it looked like game resolution was disappointing for you. You might be able to try one of the following:
1. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2329080 ---- This option might not be what you were wanting, as it causes some other issues.
2. http://liliputing.com/2013/01/chang...-enable-tablet-apps-on-a-phone-root-only.html ---- Xposed has a module Xposed App Settings and it seems like from within that you can change the resolution on a per app basis. Maybe that will work. DPI will not effect game resolution, but the resolution change option might work. Not sure if this module works for our tablet or not... but again, worth a shot if you feel like it.
I haven't used the Xposed module on this tablet, as I refuse to root until my 600 WiFi model supports a Knox-free root method. I chose the WiFi model as I have set up an automatic bluetooth tether for data connection since I always have my phone on me. Figured it was worth saving $100.
Anyway, I hope this might help.
I don't know why you think that this attitude is acceptable in here but i have to inform you that it is not.
You are always saying about how good android world used to be, but, did you used to read posts like yours? "Useless", insulting rants??
Thread closed. Honestly, i want you to find an answer to your question but with this attitude you will get nowhere in this forum.
Please read the forum rules.
Is there any significant difference between going this route and using the emulator?
Will I be able to use all the apps and games I have on my galaxy S and S4 with either or both method?
Anything else I should be aware of I didn't think of to ask?
Thanks
Sigh... questions rightly belong in General, not D&H. Also, this (dual-booting with Android) has been asked, and discussed, a *lot* already.

Sorry this appeared to be the spot to ask since it is related to the subject of this section which contains the guide to doing the dual booting. And sorry I did not find the answers to my questions in searching otherwise I wouldn't have needed to post. I don't frequent the forums here enough to have known this topic has been beaten to death. Perhaps if you could please point me to relevant thread(s) that answer these questions or me. Thanks.

Both of your questions have been answered in the android dual boot thread but I shall answer them again here.
There is a difference between dual boot and emulator. The emulator (I say *the*, there are a few) compatibility is poor at best and performance can only be described as absolutely abysmal.
Dual boot is running natively, it isn't fully hardware accelerated video but the performance of the w700p is so far above that a regular android tablet in the first place that this doesn't matter, its no biggy. But it is running on x86 whereas android is usually for ARM. Drivers for x86 builds are usually poor, although the w700p is pretty well off in that regard (I think bluetooth and GPS are missing, double check the original thread), on the w700p is pretty usable anyway. The google services framework and play store are not open source software though so custom android ROM's (including android-ia) cannot include them, these need sideloading from your device, again check the thread as details for how to do this are in there. After this you can use the play store fine, but some apps will not appear in the store and some may not work at all. Because the device is unrecognised, some apps which are limited to appearing for certain devices (which is one hell of alot) will not appear. Android apps are usually platform independent but some performance critical tasks can be done in a platform dependent way, a few popular 3d games do this, some apps doing this have both ARM and x86 versions of the app but most don't bother because x86 android devices are rare, as such they cannot run.
Also, keep in mind, that just because an app doesn't show up in google play, doesn't mean it will not run on your tablet. If you can't find it in Google play, back it up from your phone (using something like ESFile explorer to backup), transfer to your tablet, and try it. Some still won't function, or only partially function, but lots work fine.
I use Android on my W700, dualbooting, and spend almost no time at all in windows.

Greetings people smarter than I, so here's my problem
I have an HTC M8 (Verizon) Windows Phone. I have done research that shows that the M8 (Both the android and windows version) are the exact same phone with the exception of the windows logo on the back of the case.
I'm interested in (after backing up what is on it) wiping the darn thing and making it an Android phone instead because I miss playing similar games with my friends that aren't available on Windows phone and I thought they were (see Clash of Clans). All of the articles I have found on this forum so far, and others, all start from the point of view of switching to a custom Android ROM from a phone that is already running Android and well...that's obviously not going to work for me. That I know of.
My question is: Is it possible to re flash my phone from the windows phone that it is, to an Android phone instead. Research suggest the SIM card should still work and be unaffected by the OS change, but I'm unsure where to even start after going to HTCdev.com. Or if I should.
Any help is appreciated.
This is the list of OSs that I'm interested in (Specifically Viper and CyanogenMod)
((Apparently I cannot post links yet, so go to phonearena.com slash News Slash Outstanding-custom-Android-ROMs-for-the-HTC-One-M8_id63633))
afaik there is no platform conversion possible so i would not try anything if i where you.
Secondary question from the thread I haven't checked in a while, I'm curious if anyone has actually tried this on this specific phone. From what I have read there is no hardware difference between the android version of the M8 and the WP version. The only difference is software.
So If I were to simply unlock it (Through HTC's approved process) and swap ROM files, why wouldn't this work? Would it brick the phone? Am I crazy?
/for reference I'm actually using a Motorola Droid MAXX for my daily phone, this HTC WP is an extra one I have
//because I like messing with things
///slashies come in three
The hardware is the same except we do not have available the software to make the conversation. You're stuck with WP and there won't be anything in the future. Little to no development on the HTC M8 windows platforms proves as much. Enjoy while you have it.
Reasons why it wouldn't work:
Partition layouts - if different then no.
Processor OTP - chip security, one wrong digit in this .... It's a paperweight.
Between the sbl, OTP, RADIO and security - if it doesn't all tally with each other... Paperweight.
Partitions match - even if they do, between the second and third reason .... Paperweight.
