Phone dies at 20% like it's 0% - Sprint Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey Guys,
My wife and I both have a Sprint Note 4. She runs hers stock and I am always looking for the next ROM. Currently I'm running the newest Hybrid X 3 rom. I'm posting this here because I don't think it's ROM specific. I've had this problem with other ROMs too and I'm curious if anyone else has...
Our phones will just die at 20% like they're dead. And my phone just did it at 35%. Not sure what is going on..
If anyone has ideas, let me know. I do need to run a battery calibration tool, but I've read other places that they don't work.
Thanks,
PhotoshopGeek

My phone has done that too a few times. I'm on stock rooted KitKat and sometimes it will die between 6 and 10% so it could be a calibration issue. let me know if the app you try works and the name of it. Thanks

I've probably done this without thinking much about it. I had installed Xposed and disabled the low battery warnings and totally ran it to power down. Knowing that Sammy used to use a panic rob of ~20%, I charged fully with phone off and then powered up. I believe at step 3, you should leave the charger plugged while powering on. I'm not sure but it seems the old calibration data will be applied if you remove charger before booting.

If that doesn't work, try the OP of Noterized or OBAR.
Edit: The 2 run to 0% shutdowns were done on OB7. I've ran OG5 down to 5% with no issue so far. Still running original battery since day one and get max 10.5 hours SOT.

Its an issue with the new ROM. I too get this all the time. My cousin also gets this on his Tmobile Note 4.
I spoke to a Sprint Rep who also stated he has the same issue with his Note 4.

Yes same here, fully stock.

That's just odd to me. I've been running rooted stock Odex from tx_dbs_tx OB7 to OG5 tar ball. Still using the OB7 bootloader and I've been running the battery capacity down to 5% before charging without any false shutdowns that suggest it's actually 0% prior to charging.
Phone has been running fine. Only a couple of odd issues to report is the messaging app shutdown without explanation or notification while I was composing a text message; went black screen and came back to home screen. I thought it may have been some settings? Yesterday, I tried to update Milk Music and got a -505 error from Google Play. I had to remove Milk Music from the system and data directories and download from Play to get the update; clearing the app's data & cache or uninstalling the previous update and rebooting made no difference. Prior to that the app always launched but on a couple of occasions inexplicably wouldn't start playing music after pressing play a few times; never showed a pause icon, just flashed play icon each press but no music. Appears to be stable despite that; phone and Milk Music was ready, willing and able this morning for a brief workout with V4A and Dolby Atmos to pump up the beats.
I've gotten as much as 10+ SOT rooted with Beastmode kernel on this build; pics posted in freeza's Beastmode kernel 5.1 hello root thread. Fully functional AFAIK, now. No freezes, shutdowns or reboots.
Here's a thought. If the simple fix I posted earlier does nothing, backup and wipe everything but the ExtSdCard and format the data partition a few times. Select reboot to power off and pull battery for 30 seconds. Reflash the stock tar or the other tar ball if actually using OB7 bootloader in Odin and let phone boot normally with auto reboot enabled. You should see the stock recovery open briefly to update the csc files and boot. Once it boots, don't get in such a hurry to go through the setup wizard because the phone will interrupt you saying it needs to reboot to complete installation. Reboot and run the setup wizard.
For rooted users, I'd recommend doing the above steps before root or flashing custom files in Odin or TWRP. For non rooted users, simply flashing the stock tar with Odin or KIES wouldn't void warranty or trip Knox counter. Do the factory reset first and make sure the Reactivation lock is disabled. There's also a Knox active protection setting in Settings/Security that can enabled to protect and root if lost; disable that prior to factory reset and power down prior Odin or KIES tar as well.

I've had this happen to me a few times in the last 2 weeks suddenly out of no where and at varying battery percentages. It's happened at 20%, 12%, 10%, 5% to name a few.
I am completely on the latest 5.1.1 and am not rooted. It's really annoying. Wonder if the batteries are beginning to cut out, maybe defective. I've had my Note 4 since it hit the stores.
I'm seriously thinking about contacting Samsung to file a warranty claim.

I had the same problem
My phone would die really quick ones it reaches 20%
I bought a new battery and problem solve
Sent from my SM-N910P using JellyBombed Tapatalk 2

Mine did that a time or two and of course at the least opportune times

My old battery would drop from 30% to 0% within seconds. I took it to the sprint store and have them tested. Sure enough, there are issues with the battery. After getting a new battery, problem solved.
P.S. The Sprint rep told me I shouldn't leave the phone plugged-in when I go to bed.

Well either purchase new battery or just try to calibrate It like older times. May be calibrating it give you desired results...

Contacted Samsung and was told to boot into safemode and run the phone without 3rd party apps loaded to see if it still did it. I was aggravated naturally because I need my apps. Well I did it and sure enough, the phone behaved properly, did not shut down unexpectedly. Now I'm really mad. I still think it's the battery but it was hard to prove that with safemode not replicating the issue. Can some of you try it and let me know your results. Thanks.
Freddie: Below are the instructions for Safe Mode.
Freddie: 1. Power the device off (remove and re-insert the battery after 30 seconds).
Freddie: 2. Press and hold the Volume down key, then press and hold the Power key.
Freddie: 3. When the first boot screen displays; release only the Power key.
Freddie: 4. Keep pressing the Volume down key until the device boots up completely
Freddie: 5. If successful, Safe Mode will appear on the device screen in the bottom left corner.

Was having the same issue, from 30% it would go down to 5% in an instant, or at 25% it would just die and reboot. Replaced the battery with an anker battery off of amazon for $12 or so, battery has worked perfectly since then.

I just bought two batteries off Amazon, but has anyone had success getting a warranty claim validated through Samsung and actually get a new battery without hassle. I would love to have two new stock batteries as my wife's and mine are doing the same thing.

Not yet, I just bought a new battery from BestBuy yesterday and got them to price match Amazon. Hoping I see a difference with the new battery and then will go back to Samsung and let them know that fixed it and maybe convince them to replace it under warranty.
I just can't stand that they want me to factory reset and not install any apps to make sure it's the battery. Maybe I can send in the bad one and have them test the battery. That might work.

My phone just started doing this within the last week or so. My phone is only 11 months old too. Yeah guys, let's seal the battery up so nobody can change it on their own #note5. Another service they can charge $$ for. So it looks like the go to solution is a new battery? Sprint is selling a wall charger w/battery right now for $25, pretty good deal. I am going to try calibration too but am not confident it will help after what I'm reading here.
At least I won't spend much more time trying to 'fix' it. Thanks for the thread!

So, after a little while with the new battery and actually using both because, hey, it's nice having 2 batteries it happened again on the old battery. I actually wiped my phone yesterday and so it's definitely the battery.
Contacted Samsung again today and reference my previous chat. Agent was very quick to give me an RMA for the battery and upon request, even sent me a UPS return label.
Moral of the story, be persistent and they will replace the battery.

Well my battery has started showing failure after 14 months. Last week I rebooted my phone at 15% and it failed to boot; went black. Plugged the charger in and it said 0% charging. Ordered another battery. Deleted the /data/system battery bin stats, charged to full and verified in off condition that it's fully charged.
Still waiting on the replacement battery; delayed due to bad weather... started a benchmark at 26%, today, and the phone shutdown before I returned to check results. Plugged the charger again and again it says 0%. LOL.
Samsung makes a good battery but my experience with them has been the lying% indicator worsening with age. For me, that circuit seems to go before the battery usability goes. I was still getting 5+ hours SOT with heavy use before the % error started. I get more 8 or more SOT if just browsing the web and tapatalk. I'm running stock rooted and have mostly ran just that. Battery is original and I haven't had a backup until ordered. The same battery once got up to 10.5 hours SOT back in KitKat do it has degraded over time.
Not replacing with a Samsung battery. Sorry Samsung. Just unplugged charger with charge showing at 85% and battery % jumped to 100% (the note 8 tends to do this also, even before rooting it). Been using it awhile since unplugging and it's still at 94%. It doesn't drop fast; it just lies and has died twice now near the 20% remaining. Last set of third party batteries I purchased didn't do this and didn't drop 10% on a reboot either. Samsung % seems to get a little dishonest post 50% when rebooting. It's a good thing I've charged to 100% before flashing in recovery or Odin lately. This doesn't leave me feeling warm and fuzzy about buying a phone or tablet with non user replaceable battery, Samsung! However, I'm thrilled I can pull and play a $12 replacement battery in a jiffy on this Note 4!

[BUG]&[FIX] Battery stuck at 100%

*** Mod Update ***
Confirmed "FIX" : you just need to reboot the phone
To Reproduce the BUG: it's only happens when you charge it up to 100% with AC plug, and leave it there for long
However if you charge it via computer USB, then it doesn't get stuck at 100%
--- Original Content Below ---
I contacted T-Mobile yesterday in regards to my battery continuing to be stuck at 100% after fully charging. This had been happening for the past 4 days for me. They really didn't have a lot of answers, however, the one thing they suggested is for me to reboot into recovery, in my case, clockwork recovery as I am rooted, and wipe cache. I took it a few steps further and did the following:
- wiped cache in recovery
- wiped delvik-cache
- wiped battery stats
- rebooted and charged phone to 100% at which point I ran battery calibration
Immediately the battery responded and started updating with the correct percentages. I have since charged the battery two additional times with each time the battery responding appropriately.
I am not sure which step fixed it or if it will indeed fix your similar issue. However, I wanted to pass along these steps as it may help someone out there.

i exchanged mine for that reason and it did it once and hasnt done it again. id sure like to know the reason for it
If you charge with duferent charger then it gets stock on 100%

my wife is on her 2nd phone with this issue. we have a day left before the two week grace period is up. i'll try the fix you suggested today and hopefully it works! i have a bad feeling i'll get some ugly looks from the tmob people if i come in there again!
On my 2nd phone, exchanged do to random shutdowns. Anyway, it happened on this phone as well. I did the steps listed and it hasn't returned.
It's only happened to me once, but a reboot fixed it.
Granted, it shouldn't be happening, but is this really happening frequently enough to be considered a 'problem'? I got my galaxy on launch day and it's only happened that one time, the second day I had it.
Couple of things i think may have resolved it for me, but i still am not sure what exactly made it work.
- Charged the phone to 100%
- Did battery caliberation which deleted battery.stats
Still was stuck at 100%
By afternoon i connected the phone to computer using USB, it beeped that the phone is fully charged, i unplugged it by mistake and plugged it back in and it displayed the correct battery.
- Charged that night with the original charger (Was using a different one before)
Since then it is working fine for me.
I had somewhat the same problem, only on my Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini. The battery got stuck at 100%, no matter what i did (clearing batterystats.bin, charging with original charger, charging via USB, bumping it...).
The battery also stopped charging at 3,7V instead of charging over 4V.
The last thing that worked for me was taking out the battery for 5 minutes and then reinserting it. 3 days of effortless troubleshooting, and a simple battery pull saved me from sending the phone in to my carrier.
whenever i get a 100% stuck i just boot into CWR and select the option to wipe battery history
then it all goes back to normal
i just shut down the phone via the power button on the right side and turn it back on. works every time. a shame though.. shouldn't have to do this.. i hope samsung/tmobile fixes this.

Yeah I just reboot it every morning after unplugging the phone.
Got a replacement phone and it happened again once. Booted in Clockwork Recovery and followed the steps I posted in the OP and it hasn't happened again.
Happened to me a few times....a reboot fixed it for me....not a big deal for me...i just reboot when it happens...

I also have this problem. I am currently rooted, but using the stock ROM/Kernel. Although I did have this problem before I rooted too. I was wondering if any of the ROMs or Kernels are known to solve this problem. Then we would know for sure that this is a software problem the tmo/sammy can fix.
It's from the charger. Use the charger the phone came with. im using the original galaxy s charger and no problem whrn i charge with other charger overnight it gets stock .

For me the charger I use does not make a difference. In fact, the real symptom here is that the phone is stuck at 100% when it is off the charger. Sometimes when disconnecting the phone from the charger after a "successful" charge, the phone will stay at 100%. If this happens, then even connecting the phone to a charger (perhaps after a couple of hours so you would know that the phone is actually at some percentage less than 100%) will not cause the phone to realize that it is in fact NOT at 100%. What's more, since the phone thinks it is at 100% it will not charge itself. The only cure I have seen is that when I notice that the phone is still at 100% after it has been disconnected from the charger for long enough that I know it should be less than 100% is to reboot the phone. Once I do that then the phone is good to go.
Maybe this can help... I've never had the problem until I charged the phone while it was powered off. Due to the nature of my job, I leave my phone on 24/7 and never had the issue until reading about battery management and doing a charge while powered down. After turning the phone back on, I had this issue until a reboot which fixed it.

If it's anything like the problem we are experiencing, then it means you will have to reboot every time you complete a charge, since it gets stuck at 100%.
This is getting to be really annoying ... having to reboot every morning after a charge. I really wish Samsung would release a patch or something.
Mines only done that once, it got stuck at 100 aftervi unplugged it, reboot fixed it, but it hasnt happened to me since

Battery died get a spare

So yesterday at work the phone started going crazy and bootlooping and just tons of crazy stuff. Battery was reading 60 and then 5 and .all over. I was trying to flash a nandroid thinking it was the ROM. But it was the battery as I have a new battery and everything is great.
Amazon has them for $10. I'd get a spare, your battery is due. I had to buy local for more $ yesterday.
Ha ha zerolemon hands down
I'm forced to bump this from my recent experience couldn't figure out the issue with my phone. It stopped loading passed the Samsung splash screen off the charger. Bought a new phone after so many Odin re flashes failing to fix it only to randomly try a different battery and have it boot up right away.

Yes this device has reached the elderly stage. Yes I know you can still get a new note 2 but production of new note 2's ended. The ones being sold now are left over stock. Their battery could have been on a shelf for a year or longer before the customer receives the device.
I have helped many users over the past year with this battery issue. Some had only had the device for a few months. They could boot recovery and flash things or odin stock rom. Yet it would never boot past splash screen.
The problem is this device requires a bunch of power to run. Notice that the stock charger is 2.1 amps? If you user a monitor you will see that out of the 2.1 amps your phone normally takes around 1+ amp just to run. So your battery gets whatever is left over to charge with. If you have used a cheap charger or most car chargers you will notice it takes forever to charge. Point being if battery is weak then you can't boot without extra power such as a charger connected.
So if you have not gotten a new battery recently then it is in your best interest to go ahead and get one soon. This could be an issue waiting around the corner for you.

[Q] Tab S dead all of a sudden

Model: Tab S T805M (that's the 10" with LTE) rooted and stock firmware. I've had it for over 6 months and nev er had any issues, ever!
Yesterday I fully charged the battery using an original Samsung charger (from my late Nexus 10) until it was full.
I then used it for a while (basic stuff) then installed a game (Hill Climb Racing), played for a bit, then let it sit on the coffee table. Naturally, it went into sleep mode. Once I tried to turn it back on, about 30 minutes later, it was dead.
It doesn't have a SIM nor micro SD card in it.
I tried the key combos to get into bootloader or recovery, no go.
I tried holding power button for several seconds, no go.
I tried connecting the original charger that came with it, no go.
I hooked it up to my laptop, the same I had used to root the thing months ago and has Odin and all drivers installed and everything, no go. It won't even acknowledge there's some USB device connected.
Then, for some reason, while still connected to the laptop, I was randomly pressing buttons on the tablet (out of mild desperation, I was tired, just wanted to get it fixed and get some sleep) and I saw the battery logo again. It was at 99%, the way it was wen I last used it. So I unplugged the tablet and booted it normally.
Then, again, I used it for a while, connected to my WiFi, everything normal, and once it went into sleep mode, it died again. No buttons, no USB, no response to charger.
So, the problem is repeatable, but I haven't figure out yet the exact procedure to bring it back from the dead.
I'd like to fix it, even if I need to flash the stock ROM back on and lose root. If that's impossible, I'll settle with a tip on how to reboot the stupid thing once it enters this state. Then, eBay, here we go.
KNOX was tripped when I rooted, so I guess I can only try my luck with the warranty.
I think you should start your post letting people know that you have rooted and flashed your 10.5" and not in the last three lines.
Do you think your battery level is being reported correctly, as if your tab thinks you have 90% left when you only have 50% , then you game and use 50%, and think you still have 40% left but when your battery hits 39% it will just die, no battery warning or anything.
Flashing a tablet can cause the battery to be reported incorrectly, since you are rooted, download a free battery calibration app off the play store.
You say you have had your tablet 6 months, if you game or use other apps that rapidly drain the battery, the battery might be failing.
Since you say the fault is repeatable i would have the tablet replaced, flash it back to the stock rom and remove the root, Can you reset the KNOX counter, I think i read you can somewhere on this forum.
Good Luck

Yes, I did mention in the FIRST line I had a rooted device with stock ROM.
Tonight I was just able to enter bootloader and stock recovery and did a data wipe / factory reset. Let's see what happens now.
I'll install a battery tool to see what's really going on. Maybe my battery is ****.
GSam is the battery monitor i use, have a look at the alarms in the setting, I have them all set, I got a high temp alarm while my tab was in it`s case while i was asleep in bed, I remove my tab and the back was hot, just shows what can happen when you think your tablet is sleeping.
I bought my 10.5" before Christmas and it has never been turned off or rebooted, I have about 170 days continuous use in the battery settings, so it`s been quite reliable for me apart from that little temp hiccup.

[Q] SM-P600 weird (battery?) issue

This past week, I purchased a 2014 Note 10.1 off Craigslist. I did check it out before buying it, and the device is in pristine condition, including the screen. It booted fine, and I went partway through the setup (the guy had factory reset it) before closing the deal. It is the wifi-only model, 3G RAM, 8-core Exynos version. It's white if that matters.
Anyways, a while later when playing with it some more, completing setup, etc, it just died on me. I wasn't home, and didn't have a place to charge it until I got home, but just figured that despite the device having said the battery was 99% charged, the guy keeping it unused for a long time might have thrown off the battery calibration. My understanding is that a Li-ion battery has one or more cells, plus circuitry that protects against overcharging and undervoltage conditions, as well as tracking the current charge state. With lengthy non-usage, the circuitry's idea of the current charge can get out of sync with reality, so I figured a few charge-discharge cycles would get it back in shape.
However, the situation after I got home turned out to be a little more complex. If I plug in the device to a power source with enough current (like the charger it came with, or my 2.1A USB outlet by my bed), it will run just fine while plugged in. However, upon unplugging, it would die quickly. Naturally, I assumed the battery was probably shot, so resigned myself to spending $50 on one. This is where it started to get a little weird. It seemed that when I booted into either fastboot or Odin mode, it would stay on much longer than normal, while unplugged. I'm talking hours, rather than between several seconds and several minutes while booted into the OS proper.
This lead me to believe that perhaps it wasn't my battery itself, but rather a glitch in the OS that was causing it to shut down. When I say shut down, I mean an immediate full-off state, not a nice shutdown or one preceded by low battery warnings. It just clicks off like a light that's been turned off. However, trying several different firmwares, including a couple custom ones, has not yielded any improvement. The issue remains.
The device was stock 5.1.1 when I bought it. I tried flashing KitKat (various images downloaded from SamMobile), but for some reason, it would still say it was running 5.1.1. I tried xKat, as in this thread. That results in 4.4.2 with the associated customizations, but the shutdown issue remains. I tried CyanogenMod 13, as instructed here. It works fine, notwithstanding the same issue. In between the stock firmwares (pushed to the device with Odin) and the custom ones, I would do a full wipe through TWRP.
I've popped the back off, disconnected the battery, waited a bit, and reconnected it.
Now my question: does anyone have any idea what's going on? If it's a dying battery, then why does the device say it's got a nearly full charge, and why no low battery warnings? Why would Odin mode or recovery (TWRP now) seem to keep the device powered up so much longer? Sure, they draw less power, but hundreds of times less power? I doubt it. If it's some hardware issue with the chipset/motherboard/etc, then why does it only manifest when running on battery, or a low-current USB connection? If it's an issue with Android itself, then why does nobody else seem to have this issue (googling revealed nothing that matched my symptoms), and why did several different versions exhibit the exact same problem?
I really don't want to spend money on a new battery and wait a few weeks for shipping if there's something else I'm missing that could get my device functional for free and a lot faster.
My tablet had a similar issue, in that when you would get to the 15% mark, I had maybe 3-5 minutes before it would get to 0% and abruptly turn off. I used the battery calibrator app for rooted devices, followed the instructions, and now all is good again. For me, I noticed a variance from what the OS was reporting and twrp was showing in between flashing. For what its worth, I'm on the KitKat bootloader, and haven't used an official Samsung firmware since KitKat. Oddly enough, the battery calibration having been off survived through lollipop and into marshmallow. Hopefully you can get your tablet back on track.

That's a bit different from my issue. Even when the device reports full charge, if I unplug it, it usually dies within seconds, and always within 2-3 minutes.

I don't think that's going to make a difference for me. From what I was reading, all it does is delete the batterystats.bin file (hence the root requirement), which doesn't have anything to do with calibration for most devices. It just contains the stats for how much battery drain various things have caused, during this 'running on battery power' session. It's also reset every time the device is charged. Read here for more info.
Furthermore, even if this were not the case, I'd conclude that wiping the system partition (indeed, all partitions except recovery) would have cleared this data.
Still, that said, it's conceivable (though exceedingly unlikely) that some of these calibration apps might do something else, such as talk to the battery circuitry at a low level. Since I've got nothing to lose, I will probably give a few of them a shot. Do you happen to know which one it was that you tried?

For me, I noticed a variance from what the OS was reporting and twrp was showing in between flashing.

In my case, the values seemed to track pretty closely, and with numerous freshly-flashed versions exhibiting the same issue, I'm pretty sure at this point it's not a software glitch. I've resigned myself to ordering a new battery. I just wish I was certain that it would fix the issue.

For what its worth, I'm on the KitKat bootloader, and haven't used an official Samsung firmware since KitKat. Oddly enough, the battery calibration having been off survived through lollipop and into marshmallow. Hopefully you can get your tablet back on track.

My understanding is that the bootloader doesn't change with flashing. I might be wrong though; is there a way to check the version?
Just a heads up. I ordered a new battery, which arrived yesterday. It seems to have completely solved the issues I was having.
My guess is that Android itself monitors the battery more diligently, and takes a more conservative approach to preserving battery life by shutting down when the voltage drops too low, while recovery mode would just let it run down completely flat (not good for Li-ion cells).
It's a moot point now, because it all seems good.

(SOLVED) Pixel 2 XL charging stuck at 99% all of a sudden

My 2 XL is only a month old. There is no complain about charging before. It was normal. Hit 100% everytime. Until several days ago, I woke up in the morning and my phone does stuck at 99% with charging rapidly status. I've tried to drain the battery and fully charge, try to flash factory image, but the problem still exist. The phone does charge normally to 90%, then getting slow and more slow when hit 95%, it takes very long time to get to 99, then it stuck for hours. I'm using app called AccuBattery, just want to monitor the charge speed. And there it is, the phone stop the charging at 99%, charging speed shows -1 , so basically the phone cut the power input when hitting 99% although the status still not fully charged. Until I rebooted the phone then it will hit 100%.
So what happened to my phone? I'm using original charger from the box. Is it software or hardware issue? Thank you
The first image is when stucked on 99% and the charge speed show -1. After that I rebooted the phone then charge speed increasing, not -1 anymore at 99%. The second image is when the phone says fully charged at 100% and charge speed back to -1, which is normal if the phone already fully charged.
EDIT:
Solved - see my post below

The battery health is excellent, I didn't have any complain about battery life. Easily get 6++ SOT, full day usage.

What is it at though? But on all my previous rmas, I had sometimes great issues in from charging past 98%.. I would have to turn it off for it to register that it's actually charged to 100% and more than likely it would drop to 99 as soon as I unplugged it.

So you got replacement?
I can't asked for RMA. Pixel didn't sold in my country. I bought from local seller that handcarry the unit into my country.

Yeah I got a replacement at the time but not for that sole reason so I don't know if it would work but I don't think it's that much of an issue if you are still getting 6+h sot

Yeah, I'm planning to do that. I'm just uncomfortable with my phone acting weird, it supposed to hit 100% everytime normally like before. And a little afraid that this issue would make any affect in the future, broken battery or worse. If there's an explanation how this is happened and it's safe, then I might not make any complain anymore.

I had the same issue with my Oct 18 2 XL.
Download Accubattery and "calibrate" your battery.
It removes a file (.bin or something) that resets the batter charge percentage.
I really think the 99% thing is harmless, but if it bugs you (I get it) Accubattery will remove the file that resets it.
Good luck!

I currently using AccuBattery as shown on my post attachment and I didn't found any "calibrate" menu inside the app.
I've done so many methods, like drain the battery to 0% and charge it or re-flash factory image but seems none worked. So I search on the internet about delete the .bin file under root/data folder, but I didn't found any folder called data on /root (currently running android 10). I'm stucked.
So I'm thinking how if pull the battery out and put it back maybe it will reset something, but it seems impossible to do with myself. Until I found a method to hard reboot the phone with press power button + vol down for maybe 10sec. My phone was 75% at that time, after hard reboot my battery increased to 78%. Then I tried to charge the phone and voila, hit 100% normally, didn't need to unplug and replug to hit 100% anymore. It's been 3 days my phone is act normal again. Hope it will lasts forever.
So my conclusion is, seems the hard reboot method somehow force cut the power from the battery to the phone just like we pull out battery then put it back and maybe it's reset something maybe like batterystats or anything. Idk. But I'm glad nothing happened and it was just software error.

When you download Accubattery, open it, it automatically 'calibrates' your battery (see pic)

Oh, I just realized that. Thank you. But I think it didn't work for me. Nvm, my phone is normal now
I had somewhat of the same issue with my phone too. Would sit around 98% then after taking it off the charger overnight, my battery would drop like a rock to around 85%. No idea if I was just imagining things but I don't remember that much battery life wasted away like that overnight when not in use at all.
I also sent mine in for RMA last Thursday and get it back later on today so hopefully the issue will be resolved.
I have also been experiencing the same issue since upgrading to Pie last year. Once it returned to normal for 1 month only and then went back to 98% charging issue until today

I would assume broken battery. Never experienced drain so much like that when not in use. My phone normally about 1-2% drop overnight (always on display off). It's great you got replacement, but check twice for screen, 2 XL known for defective screen.

Yeah I am content with the RMA replacement it's just fine, no issues thus far. Just annoying the update breaks charging sound file and lockscreen lock/unlock sounds. But I eventually got those issues fixed too.
