Rooting App - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Everyone,
I´m trying to help a friend find an app he can root his phone with. Has anyone with an HTC M8 with Lollipop had any luck with a certain app?

Kingsroot method, or unlock the bootloader and flash TWRP (custom recovery). Then make a NANDROID BACKUP and install the superuser.zip to gain root access on the running rom.

[Q] No Root Access on my One X

Hi,
I'm actually on ARHD 5.0.0 but i still get no root access with SuperSU. Binary gets updated properly but apps like Adaway, Titanium Backup, etc, tell me that i don't have root access.
How is that possible? Bootloader unlocked via HTCDev, latest CWM Recovery, flashing ROM and matching boot.img without any problems but obviously no root.
Flashed the latest SuperSu as flashable CWM zip without any success using root-requirering-apps
Hope someone can help me, never has had any problems like this with my previous HTC devices

[Q] Question about root and recovery

I am currently running the Hyperdrive Rom. It has been a while since i flashed it. I seem to remember that I did not root my phone because the rom had root priv. I only installed the custom recovery. I would like to switch over the AOKP rom but I am not sure if I need to root first or if the rom has root. and also, if I do root will I then have to install a recovery again after. would also appreciate any advise on which root method is best. thanks for any help.
Check the change log for the rom and compatibility with your current Android firmware version. Most of the time after you root you'll be asked if you want custom recovery.

[Q] lollipop root

hello guys ... im trying to root my lollipop m8 ... it's just not working ! woulld you please help me ?
Can you elaborate? Tell us what you have tried, and what errors or issues you've had?
It's as simple as unlocking bootloader, flash custom recovery and flash SU binaries if needed and install super SU from playstore.
Same as on kit Kat.
Or, just unlock bootloader, flash custom recovery, flash custom rom. Which will likely be already rooted.

[Unlocked Bootloader] Flash from 5.0.2 to 5.1

Hello community,
I wanted to download the new lollipop update, but the OTA fails. The reason is: I unlocked the bootloader (without root).
What is the fastest way to update to 5.1? Is there any way, keeping my data?
If not, what is the best way to backup these data?
Thanks for your response!
Do you have root and a custom recovery? Then you flash a pre-rooted ZIP without wiping your data.
You could also do a nandroid backup priop to this in the recovery.
Otherwise, you may want to root your 5.0.2 and then install the custom recovery.
I am not sure if full backups without root are currently possible.
Thanks for your reply. It helped me a lot.
I want to describe my solution shortly:
1. I used this describtion for obtaining root http://forum.xda-developers.com/son...root-init-d-support-recovery-busybox-t3202799
2. I did a backup with CWM
3. I did a dirty flash with this describtion: http://forum.xda-developers.com/son...6-0-368-customized-lollipop-5-t3200948/page11
So i got Recovery + root + 5.1 without loosing data.
