Camera Sound Mod on JG4 (2.1)
-------------------------------------------
May apply for Asia area only.
After upgrading to JG4 rom, all shutter event will trigger the Shutter Sound playback in ANY apps.
e.g. Camera 360, FxCamera, Goggle, or other camera program
Even you disable the shutter sound in the apps, or mute the I9000, Shutter Sound must be triggered once you fire.
To solve this problem in a rooted i9000, you can replace the following ogg with a dummy ogg
/system/media/audio/ui/camera_click.ogg
/system/media/audio/ui/camera_click_short.ogg
I do think that a driver level trigger in the system will playback that ogg upon each fire.
HOWEVER, in the original Camera app (/system/app/camera.apk),
it use the ogg inside the camera.apk.
I tried to replace the ogg with 7-zip, and resign (Auto-Sign) the apk again and then place it back to /system/app/....... It is fail....
The system cannot recognize the camera.apk and no shoutcut is shown in the apps tray.
Any idea in playing with JG4 camera.apk?
There was a JF7 version camera.apk published on the Internet before but this version cannot be used in JG4 (distorted graphic)
The reason is probably because in some countries I heard cameras must make a noise (to stop people taking photos of women which didn't approve the pic)..

Yes, that' true for some area.
However, I need to work with my Camera in office or in client's office...
Some times I have to take a lot of photo of some machine in client's office and send it to my office at once....
The camera sound is too ignoring and it may let other think that I am not professional enough....

Could ask someone to extract the camera.apk from other rom from different region and place it on the Asian rom?
As I know, those Europe rom's camera have the option to turn off the shutter shound.
I am also using asian rom so i cant help...
could someone give me the location for the camera sound. i would like to change it if it is possible. not silence it, just change it to a different sound.
edit: found it, thanks anyhoo
Hello,
Been searching for this but only find results for the camera (photo). I want to know if there's a way to shut the beep sound when you want to RECORD a video on stock rom, theres also a beep sound when the focus works. This beep is too loud, I need to cover the hole from the speaker on the back, still can hear though.
Is there a way to have an option like in settings for the shutter sound photo camera ON/OFF ? something to add like I did in the CSC feature file
or using the Xposed framework installing an apk.
I have a rooted device but dont want to install it with CWM or things like TWRP in my phone since I dont want them. I dont want to erase audio files from the audio library as well. ^^
thanks
With root explorer (must be rooted ofcourse). Navigate to system/media/audio/ui/cam_start.ogg and cam_stop.ogg change permissions by unchecking all checked. Done
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium

Hey buddy, you can use tasker to mute that ****ty shutter sound.
Just create a profile that is triggered by the Camera apps and in the task mute the system volume. Note that you gotta add an exit task to unmute the system volume or else your phone will keep muted :cyclops:
I have tried renaming the sound in system media audio ui folder, but it has stayed persistent. Anyone know if the real files are elsewhere or another way?
I finally found a solution in App Settings module for xposed, in case anyone else needs it.
Hi guys,
i don't like most of the sound any smartphone does when doing any kind of stuff.
So i simply deleted all sounds in system/media/audio/ui.
Since goolge is putting some sound of their camera app (for example the HDR+ shutter sound) in the apk file itself i modified this, too.
I opened it with winrar and replaced any .ogg file with an empty one.
Afterwards i deleted the .odex file of the google camera and also cleared the dalvik cache with TWRP.
The camera app is still working so i guess everything went well.
But the HDR+ shutte sound is still there
What am i doing wrong?
I'm kind of clueless.
Thanks for your help!
