I've updated my Nexus 6 ROM with clean flashes a couple of times since getting the SW50. I've tried backing up and then restoring the android wear app using titanium backup but it doesn't seem to work. Also restored all Bluetooth pairings. In order to pair the watch I end up having to factory reset it.
Does anyone know what else I need to backup and restore on the phone ROM in order to prevent having to do this after a clean flash?

So I didn't realize that rooting the phone would wipe all of my data before I started using it. I only had a transformer tablet before, and assumed all rooting was that easy. Lesson learned.
So my question is, since I don't have root, what are my options for backing up all of my application data before I do a fastboot oem-unlock?
please use the search button
this has been asked plenty of time
you simply can not, get ready to lose it all
you only lose it once anyways
rooting doesn't wipe the data, unlocking the bootloader does

I used titanium backup to bring my old apps + app data over from my old phone.
To restore I just put them on my nexus and restored only the necessary apps. This kept all my game saves and stuff.
Everything else was either synced with my google account or some other login.

I am planning to start playing around with custom Kernels, and from reading all the FAQs, I understand 5hat best practice is to wipe my phone first. I have also done a nandroid backup with CWM.
Are there any other steps i need to take before installing my Kernel if I want to restore all my apps? (Obviously I haven't wiped my data yet). Once I do have the new kernel, what are best practices for restoring apps? I have both market and non market apps.
Thanks!

Buy Titanium backup in the market, any rooted user's must-have app. Restore becomes a joy.
You DO NOT have to wipe anything (perhaps cache & dalvik if you change to a different kernel but that's it) prior to flashing a kernel!

I do no wipes prior to installing a new kernel. I've been installing kernels on Android devices for over two years now and have never wiped for a kernel.
Here's a little write-up that was done about recovering from a Factory Data Reset, but would apply to a rom install too:
1. First, make sure Backup and Restore are checked in the Privacy setting prior to starting. 2. When going through the setup after the reset/rom install, turn on wifi as soon as you can (assuming it is available). 3. After you have entered your Gmail account info, you will be presented with a screen that has two check boxes. Basically they are "Do you want Google to backup and restore this phoneā€¯. Make sure you check both of those. 4. Open the Market app and accept the market terms. 5. Your apps will then automatically reinstall (paid and free). Set the phone aside for a minute or two and let the apps download and install. 6. If rooted, use an app such as titanium backup to restore data only to select apps such as Tapatalk and you will not have to re-enter all your login information. I do this for 3-4 apps (Tapatalk, SPB Shell, etc.).
Full wipe not required on new kernel
Titanium backup is mus have you will love it

Hi All
I am using JB CM10 preview and enjoying alot. I just want to take backup of all installed apps with user data just like the toolkit does from a PC, only I want it from the mobile itself. The routine for backup and restore is built within the os as everytime I want to take backup or restore apps I have to confirm to/from mobile... so I was thinking there maybe a way to take apps backup from within the os without any toolkit or without using PC .

Titanium backup... its on the play store.
I'm planning to do a complete wipe of my phone because of a few issues I'm having with it (random reboots, apps force closing, etc.). I was wondering if a fresh reinstalling via the Play Store would be better than restoring my apps via Titanium Backup or if it actually even made a difference at all? And if I did reinstall the apps through the Play Store I assume the only way I could get the settings, etc. is if I made a backup and just restored "app data" with TB or is this just the same data that I already have on the internal SDcard that doesn't get wiped after a factory reset?

I always do a restore using TB without any issue. But in your case with some apps FC. Is recommended a complete clean install from Play.
And the apps data is the one which get wiped when your make a factory reset.

I'm no expert, but I always just reinstall from the app store. I figure a clean install is probably less trouble. The only conceivable drawback that I can see is if you have apps that you have paid for, but I ASSUME that would be synchronized with your Google account. Every time I flash a new rom I sign in (after I set up my wifi and my apns) and go to the play store (takes a few minutes for market to change to play store) click menu >my apps and there they are , all current apps (that came with rom) and every Google app I've ever had. Just be sure that the rom you flash has gapps included or you will have to download and flash proper version of that as well.

I have used TB to do batch restore of all missing apps + data every time I have flashed a new ROM. It's always worked great for me. The paid version will auto restore, but in the free one you have to press accept for each app as they are restored.

I always restore through google play that restoring with tb kinda like starting fresh on new roms plus I can play all the games over again

Thanks for the tips guys. I think what I'll try first is to restore with TB and then any apps that force close repeatedly I'll just uninstall and re-download from the Play Store.

So I am currently running cm10.1.3 stable and want to upgrade to a nightly of 10.2. I know the best way to do this is to wipe all data and flash the new Rom. However I was wondering if I will be able to restore all my system settings and app data without much hassle.

You can pretty much update directly. Make sure to install the proper gapps. If you want the "clean" route, use Titanium Backup and backup all your apps + app settings (not system apps), wipe everything, install cm10.2 nightly, restore your apps and data.
So titanium is the best option? I tried to update directly but it was very buggy. It would restart a couple times a day and also the volume rocker wouldn't work randomly as well as the camera.

I agree with polobunny above. If you're upgrading from one CM build to another, you can do it inplace and easy using their updater tool. Just look in About Phone and you'll find it. I'm not using CM anymore, but when I did i always just used their tool. It downloads and installs for you...couldn't be easier.
I love Titanium Backup too. It's definitely worth getting the pro version because otherwise when you restore your apps, you will have to go through, one by one, and click install for every app. Plus, with pro you can set it to keep more than one copy of each app. I keep 2 copies in case I need to roll back even further (ya never know).
