What is the best rom/kernel/mods etc for the Sony Xperia M.
I don't play games on the phone, i use BBM all the time, play music now and then as well as use Snapchat, i'm basically looking for a good rom/kernel/mods to save battery.
Any advice/recommendations?
There is no best ROM or kernel. Each user will have different performance on different ROMs and kernels. Try them out for yourself and see.
Try Archidroid Rom ..... it includes custom kernel also
Try znxt evolution rom with SXDNickiSS Eco Edition Kernel
ArchiDroid
Try Archidroid 3.1.3 (Or the latest available). Installed and tried it my self . Smooth and improves battery to some extent (with greenify which is provided out of the box mainly) . :good:
I tested many roms and still best one is stock 4.3. If you wanna more features try Ressurection Remix. Is stable, not uber fast (well, our phone is quite old), nice looking and packed with nice features.

I just wanna know if there are any custom ROMs that are not bugged (I know that even official ROMs have plenty bugs) and can be used for daily usage.
If possible, is there a custom ROM that has/may contain:
1) Non-disturbing bugs. Bugs that doesn't bother and non-severe that may destroy my device.
2) Sleek black UI. Dark colored UI works, too.
3) Newbie-friendly.
Thanks again
try creeds v2 or chobits 1.6,
most if not all custom rom has some issues,
do a trial and error and see for yourself what ROM suits you best
Creeds rom
Creeds Rom 3.2 works great for me.. No bugs so far.. except for the signal icon.. (Something u can live with )
As I have said, I am a newbie. Well, I do know many procedures now, but I don't want to risk it.
@deathnotice01
Chobits 1.6? Is there a problem with 1.8 and 2? I almost flashed those, good thing I am still waiting for a stable one.
@Vikram3392
I need the signal bar. My home isn't the perfect place to get signal, so I look at in order for me to change position in order to get the perfect signal
Thanks anyway.
@All
I want to flash Chobits v2. Is it good to use? I don't plan to use any a2sd and other system related things. I just want a good ROM that fixes a lot of flaws from the stock and a ROM that supports init.d perfectly, as I want to use [email protected]' tweaks.

Chobits v2 is still new. But chobits v1.8 with merruk kernel will certainly satisfy your needs! Stable rom+tweaks!

I thought v2 was an improvement of 1.8. If it is, then new should be better, right?
sir the most stable rom you can get is modified stock ROM, in terms of stability and overall use
custom roms have their pros and cons in terms of speed, memory usage, etc
since you are a beginner try to remove bloatwares and ad some customizations, tweaks, etc..
you can also push apps to ROM to increase a little ur phone memory
the good thing about android is you can personalize based on your taste, so happy modding

You're right....but we need to wait for some more time, till we get lots of good feedback about v2....till then, i consider chobits v1.8 to be better...

Chobits v2, very stable..
If you can live with the dark themes its great
I wish he'd release one without the modded apps though..
most stable, fastest, reliable rom --> modified stock rom. with fine tune and good modification, odexed rom is always faster than deodexed rom.

None the AOSP rom's have bloats, they are all based on pure google experience ,only thing they bring forward is the the various tweaks. No one can tell you which rom is most stable cause everyone uses their phone differently,so best to try few aosp roms available and see what works best for you, same goes for kernel ,try devil or agni and see which works for your phone

to answer some stuff quick:
-KK is a hell lot faster than ANY ics rom with & without apps on it. maybe currently its a bit sluggish but thats because ION is in ACTIVE development. but its getting better & better every update. for latest version of LX im really amazed. if you know that ''It's Can't Be Lighting Fast & Cool ROM'' you know nothing about KK experience & bro KK is even optimized for low end HW. your sentence is wrong. KK runs a lot faster & stabler than stock ICS!!!! the thing is that some drivers are not meant for KK & make some things not work superb like wifi. i have much app installed & phone still super fast. i dont use fackbook & i guess its fb fault that phone become laggy. (fb works good on ICS?? did you making jokes?? )
you should try KK instead just only talking about it. i think u have no idea (what u talking about ) also use some good rom like LX, to many half baked roms out there
- dev porting apps mostly to their systems using. mostly they use the newest.
- sony apps porting to same os KK apps port to KK is MUCH easier than to JB (very hard many code changed / missing in JB)
try KK bro & report me bak
Thanks For The Right Answer..
hi there bro... thanks for useful reply... i don't have much experience in KK roms... i will definitely try it later... so what rom do you use?
Legacy Xperia 443? >>> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2545354
is that optimized rom? i just can't imagine how KK can be better then ICS... maybe it's really optimized for 2011 xperias...

KK (aswell as JB) is better because it uses the new 3.4 kernel. this is a power pack. ICS still rocks stoneage 2.6.2xx kernel.also its CM based which is hold close to stock android = more power for you. one of kitkats pros was project sveltje which wanted to make sure that the latest OS of android even run smooth on low end device (512 mb ram) it also benefits our devices.
personally i use latest LX 4.4.3 rom (with sony home, media apps & sliglthy sony style framework by me) because its keeped clean & its updated frequently (not abdonned after 2 builds ) but the newest versions (after 19/3 build) are all ION based & with hints . some bugs here & there, new bugs comming (because of active development) if you want just check out kitkat, use the 19/3 build as it is the last PMEM one & gives most stability in kitkat on our device.
if you just want to upgrade your rom to use it as daily driver & dont care to allways have the neewest, then use CM10.1 (also LX) will give you best mix of speed from new kernel & its the most stable of all JB roms for our devices.
just to mention in coparsion to ICS: battery will get down faster & wifi isnt perfect (i have no problems). also camera is much better on ICS. (mostly due to lack of proper drivers.)
take 2 hrs time, do a backup of current rom (recovery), the flash LX kernel ROM & gapps of choice. N# experiece yourself. im really amazed how far our phones got . in case you dont like you can just flash old kernel & restore backup (or go to stockkernel via falshing stock ICS ftf via flashtool, then install xparts, install CWM --> restore backup)
dont forget to follow LX install instruction EXACTLY good luck
..
@gius321
I know you're no newbie.
It pains me to see that you've not tried out any kitkat ROMs all this while.
May I suggest a particular ROM.
C-Rom version 5.6 KitKat 4.4.2
Try it.You will like it.
Sent from my Xperia Arc using XDA Free mobile app
I get my z1 compact tomorrow and I am looking for suggestions for a new ROM as I am coming from an s4 any good ones about?
Try CyanogenMod Original, it has everything you need
I would prefer CM11 over CM12.
Last nightly of CM11: http://forum.xda-developers.com/son.../cm11-nightly-available-anymore-help-t3014226
CM12 ist in Beta still... not every CM function is implemented yet. And it's not as stable as CM11... i would wait at least for M3 before using CM12.
You have to decide if you want a stock based ROM (Xperia feeling) or a full custom ROM (AOSP, CM, etc).
Apart from that, there is no "beginner" ROM whatsoever. It always depends on which features you want, how important battery life is and so on.
Just check the threads of the ROMs look at the features and screenshots and read what users say about it and then make your choice.
You can always backup your stock Android and try them out.
As far as I know, using custom ROM (that means any ROM not based on stock ROM) means worse camera performance and loss of other hardware related features as bravia engine and xloud. The last two do not seem that important, but the deterioration of camera performance is the main reason I do not use a custom ROM.
By the way, the ROM of my signature is perfect.
Hey,
I intend to find the best rom + kernel combo when it comes to performance and stability. I do not really care about SOT, as I charge my phone daily. I also don't really need any customization features. Which ROMs do you recommend for me?
I tried a lot of ROMs and Kernels, for stability the best ROM is the stock MIUI ? and to improve his performance you have to use a custom kernel (for me I use "KangarooX 5.1 nonOC") the result is amazing for me...
But if you don't like MIUI you can use Pixel experience, it's the most stable custom ROM for Whyred.
(This is my personal opinion and maybe I'm wrong)
