to answer some stuff quick:
-KK is a hell lot faster than ANY ics rom with & without apps on it. maybe currently its a bit sluggish but thats because ION is in ACTIVE development. but its getting better & better every update. for latest version of LX im really amazed. if you know that ''It's Can't Be Lighting Fast & Cool ROM'' you know nothing about KK experience & bro KK is even optimized for low end HW. your sentence is wrong. KK runs a lot faster & stabler than stock ICS!!!! the thing is that some drivers are not meant for KK & make some things not work superb like wifi. i have much app installed & phone still super fast. i dont use fackbook & i guess its fb fault that phone become laggy. (fb works good on ICS?? did you making jokes?? )
you should try KK instead just only talking about it. i think u have no idea (what u talking about ) also use some good rom like LX, to many half baked roms out there
- dev porting apps mostly to their systems using. mostly they use the newest.
- sony apps porting to same os KK apps port to KK is MUCH easier than to JB (very hard many code changed / missing in JB)
try KK bro & report me bak

Thanks For The Right Answer..
hi there bro... thanks for useful reply... i don't have much experience in KK roms... i will definitely try it later... so what rom do you use?
Legacy Xperia 443? >>> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2545354
is that optimized rom? i just can't imagine how KK can be better then ICS... maybe it's really optimized for 2011 xperias...

KK (aswell as JB) is better because it uses the new 3.4 kernel. this is a power pack. ICS still rocks stoneage 2.6.2xx kernel.also its CM based which is hold close to stock android = more power for you. one of kitkats pros was project sveltje which wanted to make sure that the latest OS of android even run smooth on low end device (512 mb ram) it also benefits our devices.
personally i use latest LX 4.4.3 rom (with sony home, media apps & sliglthy sony style framework by me) because its keeped clean & its updated frequently (not abdonned after 2 builds ) but the newest versions (after 19/3 build) are all ION based & with hints . some bugs here & there, new bugs comming (because of active development) if you want just check out kitkat, use the 19/3 build as it is the last PMEM one & gives most stability in kitkat on our device.
if you just want to upgrade your rom to use it as daily driver & dont care to allways have the neewest, then use CM10.1 (also LX) will give you best mix of speed from new kernel & its the most stable of all JB roms for our devices.
just to mention in coparsion to ICS: battery will get down faster & wifi isnt perfect (i have no problems). also camera is much better on ICS. (mostly due to lack of proper drivers.)
take 2 hrs time, do a backup of current rom (recovery), the flash LX kernel ROM & gapps of choice. N# experiece yourself. im really amazed how far our phones got . in case you dont like you can just flash old kernel & restore backup (or go to stockkernel via falshing stock ICS ftf via flashtool, then install xparts, install CWM --> restore backup)
dont forget to follow LX install instruction EXACTLY good luck

..

@gius321
I know you're no newbie.
It pains me to see that you've not tried out any kitkat ROMs all this while.
May I suggest a particular ROM.
C-Rom version 5.6 KitKat 4.4.2
Try it.You will like it.

Super Slow Xperia Arc

Hi All,
My Xperia Arc ( LT15i) is super slow.
Its much slower than my old HTC Desire.
I have done a Factory reset and a fresh update but still slow.
I am on Android 4.0.4 and using stock Rom build 4.1.B.0.587
Please advise any workaround.
If nothing, I'll try to root it and install AOSP Jelly bean rom.
I do not care if I have Jellybean or ICS, I just want the phone to be fast.
Does the custom roms really make a big difference ?
Thanks .
There are many custom roms for xperia arc/s which are faster than ICS and GB.
They are stable/alpha/beta roms. That is your wish to decide to install which ROM.
Look at the following thread - complete guide about kernel/roms/root/guides........
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1653188
Hit "Thanks" if anyone helped you.:good:
Xperia Arc LT15i
Rooted/Bootloader Unlocked
Running Jelly Bean - FXP139/CM10
I've tried Milans ICS, it's quite fast.
timescape ui is really laggy. do vanilla android like cm9/10 or aokp will do
cm9 --- interactive governer, overclock to 1.6ghz through settings -do not use task killers, they are pointless and eats some resource away even if they do get the job done
yes 1.6ghz is safe, i have this setting for a while
although cm9/10, aokp kernel drain a more battery than stock firmware

The custom JB roms are really fast compared to ICS.
I've also got a LT15i; here's a quick overview of the steps needed to get JB on your phone.
unlock the bootloader (there's an official sony website to talk you through this)
flash a decent baseband (use this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1688049).
Flash a rom of your choice - I suggest the latest AOKP from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1859518
Things you have to know: -
How to get flashtool installed on your computer, and your computer connected to your phone.
unlocking your bootloader loses your DRM.
So my advice is read up on the stuff you need to know (if you haven't found out all this stuff already).
Then backup your SD card to your computer.
Then do the steps (1-3) to get the latest AOKP rom. This rom is officially in testing, but it is stable and fast.
Good luck.
P.S. I'm using Baseband 77, but most people recommend baseband 72.
I'm using Lupus kernel, but you should start with the kernel included in the AOKP rom.
After you are comfortable with CWM backups, you can experiment a bit more without worrying too much about data loss.
(more good luck )

I don't think so my friend...
I have switched from cm10 to Milan ICS for 2 day and i am dissapointed
I change because i want to use a stable rom and every functions r working great
But my decision is wrong, stock ics is the most stable but i can't play any games without lag :banghead: Ram is low and it very annoying
P/s: i miss my cm10
Hit thank button if i helped u
CM 10 with Lupus Kernel and besttt fix is rock solid.
Fast, stable (no random reboots) and everything works.
And u dont need 1,6 Ghz. 1 Ghz is enough on CM 10.
Go to arconium gb rom
Possible to root without unlocking bootloader
Thanks all for such nice advise.
I am not new to rooting, had a rooted HTC Desire for 3 years
Though, I do not want to miss on the DRM ( if it has any use ).
Is it possible to root without unlocking bootloader ?
I think it is but would be great if you nice people can advise me of the advantages and disadvantages of rooting without unlocking.
I would go with CM or AOKP.
Edit: As mentioned by ironlady, does AOKP/CM drain more battery than stock ?
Why ? I would assume that with all the extras of the stock, more batter should be consumed.
AOKP/CM are almost nearing AOSP and are no frills, why they drain more battery ?
This was my observation with HTC Desire. The HTC Sense based roms always consumed more battery than AOSP.
Thanks again.

Well, I don't know what DRM is for - something about "digital media rights"
(It hasn't affected playback of movies or sounds on my phone.).
It is possible to root without unlocking bootloader, but then you can't have an AOKP/CM rom.
You need the unlocked bootloader to flash the custom kernel required by these roms.
(
Flashing a kernel requires running "flashtool" from a computer. before flashing the kernel you must copy the rom to your phone's SD card.
After you flash the kernel, boot the phone and press the "volume down" button when the buttons light up.
This gets you into CWM recovery where you can flash the rom
)
I'm pretty sure that the battery drain depends on how you set up the kernel. If you over-clock, then more battery drain. If you under-clock then better battery life.
After all of this two more points of advice: -
If you try CM10, then use the Lupus kernel, and instructions posted by "besttt" to set up your phone nicely. This is a more tricky install.
If you try AOKP, then install it normally as described in the 1st post of the thread
(the custom kernel is a file called "boot.img" in the rom. You need to extract the file, and flash it with flashtool when you're ready to install the rom).
This is an easier install.
Enjoy

[Q] best bug-free ROM..?

hi..
still on rooted stock GB R800i with locked BL... having plans on flashing CFWs...
i just wanna ask if what is the best ROM / Kernel combination..? preferably bug-free.., light and with the least compatibility issues known...
thanks..
additional question...
what ROM should i go for..? GB or ICS based...? what are the pros and cons..?
I'm currently using NXT by Krisdee. It's smooth and fast, and I haven't encountered any bugs yet. The pros of GB are that they are generally more stable, and support more games (EA stopped supporting ICS or something). I personally like using ICS. It has some nice features, like the data traffic monitor, and I prefer the overall look of ICS. But if you want gaming (though touchpads do work on ICS I think), battery life, and generally a more stable rom, go for GB.
you mean to say that all things are working on the NXT ROM..? i mean wi-fi, camera and others..? i've read some ROM reviews and users reported bug stating that their cam is not working or is unable to tether..

There is a solution to fix "cannot connect to camera" error. Go to settings > quick panel settings > widget buttons, untick LED flashlight, and done. As for tether, it works for me, maybe they did something wrong during the installation. As long as you follow the instructions, you'll have a bug free and stable rom without problems.
If you're a hardocore gamer , i'd recommend sticking to any GB rom , as you'll have a better lag-free gaming experience
for a good GB Rom i'd recommend either NXT 1.3 by Krisdee , or DiXperia 2 by Dikej
I myself prefer ICS for the extra features and better UI , and bear in mind that i don't use my phone for gaming as much as i did before so i don't know how much you'll compromise your gaming experience by using ICS
examples for good ICS Roms : Stock ICS by MarkPhyton "doesn't have any bugs AFAIK" , and the one i'm using now is ICS Pureness ported by Sechko , i prefer it for the better theming and less bloat to deal with
a good non-stock ICS rom is AOKP rom and MIUI By ComicDan , i had no issues dealing with both of them , but i just preferred Stock based Roms
NXT Rom 1.3 is the best rom available now, lucky u don't have to unlock bootloader and change kernel to have it.
Only one bug: when recharge the phone while it"s off, the phone turns itself on. Just this one

I don't think that's a bug. Every rom does that, and it gives you the advantage that you would still be able to turn on your phone if your power button broke.

hi i tried miui rom devoloped by cosmicdan. now its removed due to the bugs. i want to go for the ICS pureness by sechko. but the fact is i cant flash a kernel with CWM. only the kernel image is loading and nothing more. i tried "lupus ics beta and doomkernell" what should i do? do i need to go to the stock kernel again? can you tell me how to get into the pureness....
Lol, you need to flash it on your pc.

after that , sechko's ICS and miui

If you really want a bug free rom why dont you stick with stock. Who can make a better rom other than the manufacturer?

[Poll] Is it worth to change the stock rom to kitkat?

Hi.I have successfully converted my phone to e975 from f180l and I want your opinion on flashing a kitkat rom(doesn't matter which one,I mean in general) People who are using a kitkat rom,is it better than the stock one?
or shall I wait until the official kitkat update from lg(official kdz I mean if that's gonna happen)?
its your choice if to upgrade or not.... stock rom or stock modded are best for battery life......if you bother about about battery life..you can flash any 4.4 roms.. ..
I vote yes. simply because i love trying something new. and having many choices are good.
then test all roms u can find
u can tly miui, my fav. but its 4.1 try!!
by kk u have many roms here! its ur play and our playground, so test what u can dont forget nandroid backup!

I had another phone where I flashed a new rom every week and I don't want to keep doing so on this device I want to install a rom and keep it for a log period of time) forn now I like the stock one,but I know too that kk is lighter in terms of ram(if I'm not wrong) and it has more options and bigger customisation possibilities, but I don't want to meet new problems, like worse battery life, problems with the kernel, random fcs and so on)

Well atm I'm switching between cm11 and miui, it's nice to have two backups I can just switch between and I have my most needed stuff. For me this works just as Good as only having 1. But yeah, I don't like stock tom, and you can get good battery life with other 4.4 Roms, so dont worry about that. Go ahead and try it out, there's nothing to lose .
Sent from my LG-E975 using xda app-developers app
Stock is still the best IMHO whenever I use CM something is always missing or broken.
But what do we actually get from 4.1 to 4.4(if stock)?? Whats the big difference for ordinary user?
Like Win XP vs Win 7 vs Win 8. Of course we have to update to Win 7 to take advantage of DX11 but I don't think we have to update to Win 8 for a reason that its NEW, Just like what happen to Kitkat its new but for what? Maybe thats the reason why LG doesnt bother much to update because most of the apps/games only require you to install 2.3 and up
I have recently installed kitkat 4.4 cm11 and and I am having force close problems (not many) but still it restarts the device and lockscreen becomes unresponsive
So yes it is problematic but it is way way better than stock in terms of RAM usage and response
I am searching for a stabler ROM if you have know such stable kk ROM do tell

[Q] Some performance Issues

Hi,
As you can see I have a small performance issue.
Both my mother and my sister own a Huawei Acend P6. I have upgraded both to B132 via the update.app method.
Now I come to the point:
- My sisters device keeps getting stuck on random moments.. Most of those happen on games like Farm Heroes Saga and Candy Crush
- My mother device has a score of 16000+ but my siter only got 10426?
I am not familiar with the root and update and custom rom process of this device. However I have read some things about rooting, going to kitkat and using TWRP V2.7.0.0.0.
My questions:
- Any tips to stay stock and have a better performance? (I know this device is not like a Sony Xperia Z1)
- Is there any good How to about rooting, and using custom recoveries? I havent found one
- Any stable ROMS I should look into? (I know this question is not really allowed here but I ask it anyway)....
Regards,
Mrjraider
The device should be in "normal" performance mode and not smart or battery saving mode.

Because you are running JB the best AOSP roms imo are Cyanogenmod 10.1 or PAC-Man rom by surdu but you need to be on 118 CN or 120 CN or unlock the bootloader via this method ( if you dont want to install the chenease verison of the stock roms becouse there is a chance of bricking your phone ) - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2666116 .
Link to Cyanogenmod 10.1 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2585783
LInk to Pac-Man rom - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2613709
There is also the MIUI v5 rom from Ry09iu for JB which is good - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2480396
And if you like the stock fell there is HYD52ROM V5 from husen4u but development is dropped cause the op lost his phone :/ (you have to be on the chinease stock rom ) - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2570602 ( This rom has a lot of tweaks implemented in it)
If you want to update to KK there are good stable roms like Omni, LightningKat and Cyanogenmod 11 ( not stable but its a work in progress )
Hope i helped
Thanks guys.. I will take a look

All ROMs - both official builds from Google and Custom ROMS from our talented developers here on XDA - have bugs. Just a fact of digital life!
If you want the most stable build available, you're probably best served by Google's official releases. Scroll down for the different GNex versions/links.
If you want Lollipop, check out the Android Development board. Plenty of great developers and ROMs to chose from there. I have a 5.1 ROM linked in my signature below, as well.

thanks for the answer. i will try this 5.1 rom. Some roms have little bugs, and others like lollipop roms make the device not good for daily driver, like the camera not saving pictures, green lines on video etc. i will try some roms and leave the most stable on his device, but i think i will flash 4.1.2 in the end.

Man this device was a pain for me today. after wiping to install 4.1.2 the device disconnected. and the usb connector i think is faulty. i had to flash every bit of rom in fastboot and a lot of errors. so i installed 4.0 rom because system.img was smaller and took a lot of time to copy the 300mb file and finally the device booted. i ota to 4.1.1 and i think i will ota manually to 4.1.2 because on device already appeared 4.2.2 ota. do you think is worth update all the way to 4.3? the device is smooth and i like the camera app better than 4.2 rom with that awful lag to rotate. do you think is better have an updated device or keep it in 4.1.2?
AOSP Lollipop 5.1- a wee better than stock is the best lollipop I could find yet. It is near-stock Android, and the overall performance is very good comparing it to the age of this device. The only bad thing I can say about this device isbthat the battery is draining faster(it might be an issue with my phone). If you are brave enough(such brave, much wow), you can try to overclock to 1.5 and the performance will improve by a lot
