Hi,
my Artemis turns off every now and then and I'm getting a bit pissed off by the phone. Because it happens exspecially when I'm talking to someone. The error occurred first about two weeks ago and i tried to fix wit an hard reset, but that didn't worked out. I also don't think it has anything to do with the battery, since it also turns off while being connected to the charger.
If anyone knows help, I would be grateful.
i had the same problem and the solution is ......
a new battery
My XDA Orbit is doing the same thing - randomly switching off when in use (either phone call or browsing the web). Its being doing this for over the last two to three weeks and I, too, am getting pissed off with it. My Orbit is over two years old so I'm suspecting the battery although the battery meter states everything is OK. I've just purchase a new battery on-line and, when I receive, I'll let you know if it cures the resetting issue.
Alistair
thanx, that is at least a problem with an easy solution.
@ ajmcfarlane: thx, I'll wait for your post.
Received battery on Saturday and early indications look as though it has cured the problem of the phone resetting. If anything changes, I'll keep you posted.
Cheers, Alistair
great, I'll order a battery right away
i also got same problem in my p3300 so did changing battry really solvd problms?
It will cure it.
awesome.. i think most of us have purchase this amazing handset more or less the same time..
all of our devices loosing out on batt.... no bad..
can any one please update the price of a new battery ?
i am in india now.. will be going to singapore this month end to watch the formula 1.. are there any options to buy it in singapore to save some money on it ??
how much is the new batt ??
I have over 200 of these devices in their various guises, and I can tell you that this is a very common problem. If you are lucky you only need change the battery and the device will be fine. If that does not improve matters then good luck as I am yet to find a solution when the problem is not simply the battery. At the moment my best effort is to flash the device with an upto date original ROM and change the battery. It seems to help but I can't say it fixes them as I have not monitored how the reflashed devices perform yet. I will post when I have used the reflashed devices for a few months and see how they go on

Hi radcarash,
do you have any findings? I got the same issue with one Artemis, and it seams the battery change doesn't help at all. I'm just wondering if you found already another solution to cure this world wide problem.
cheers,

Hi,
I just get a e-980.
With no special reason, the screen stop working, I realized under the sunlight, that my LCD still working, but I have no more backlight.
I can barely see white color shapes.
Is it a ''normal'' issue with those phones?
- I've opened it, clean contacts from ribbon cables. - didn't work
- I've done a complete stock reflash with LgFlashTool - didn't work
If you guys have no clue, I'm scared that I'm dealing with a brick, and get back my old reliable desireZ
thank you
Guess first thing to do in such a situation is to check if there is some obvious glitch- maybe brightness turned down to zero, phone not waking up die to some mod etc.. If does not work, then next is factory reset.. Next is a tot flash and then visit to the service center

yep. All done.
Like I said, I can receive calls/txt. I ear the unlock sound, etc. I can see LCD ON under bright sunlight.
Right now, I'm just thinking to throw it in the garbage, a 250$us phone that worked 2 days !!! Wow, people told me to never touch LG, I start to believe them.
Maybe some body here can sell me a functional LCD with broken digitizer??, mine is brand new.
I just dont want to dump more money in it, since the HTC is working strong, even for a 4 yo device
I'll try with LG warranty service, but it was a final sale
Exactly same issue with me too
I bought my LG OPTIMUS G PRO a few days back refurbished, it worked flawlessly for around a week. A few days ago its screen went blank even though it was possible to use screen blank like answering calls etc, i thought humidity has affected it and buried it in rice for one day and it worked again but after 2 days it again went blank and this time burying it didn't help. I am without luck now and looking for some workaround. Please someone help us if anyone knows how to fix it?
Awaiting eagerly for some suggestions.:crying:
Mmm seem to be a LG problem...
Event on optimus G forums people seems to have this trouble.
You just remind me something, went the screen go off, it was 90% rel humidity here, good point.
I tried to put it under high heat and the freezer. no luck.
All I want to know it's if it's the main board problem or screen.
Last time with LG pos, my brother had the LG 3D, wow, pos as well, nexus aren't the best phone as well.
HTC ftw, but the latest models are so no-user friendly on the hardware, seems like they try to copy apple.
My moto milestone 500mhz (2009) still working better than this, lol.
If you don't have a warranty, I'd open it up then clean and reseat the screen dongle connector.
This happened to my optimus g. Suddenly the screen went dark. I opened it up reseated everything and it didn't help. Thinking of buying a mee lcd when I find one cheap enough

yeah, but how you'll be sure that problem wont came back in a year?
The last time I heard about backlight stop working/burn, it was on compaq laptop with pentiumII processor.
1 1/2 year old phone, that's not normal.
any way, I put the phone in a bag of rice for the night, powered up, and the back light came on for 3 seconds.
-- 5 days and still have NO supports from LG.
This is just a thought. I had something similar happen in one of two ways, either the screen turning all red or dark. It was an issue with a night reading program, Twilight. After I managed to turn that off the problem went away.
If you have programs like Lux or Twilight running or anything that can control the screen try and turn them off.
Update.
I didn't touch the phone for days, leaving the battery out. Then I put it back just to be ready to retry a clean flash.
Screen all black.
I had something to do, I leave it on my desk for few hours, and when I came back to play with it, the screen light up. It's been a day , no issue, but some times the screen flicker.
It will probably let me down soon.
Strange issue : the home button led light doesn't work anymore.
Is it because I flashed the telcel stock rom on the e980 at&t?
DOES SOMEONE know HOW to get service FROM THIS company????

They just don't care, the moment I said that I bought this phone to the US and use it on a Canada carrier (Rogers / At&T , dont need to unlock the phone! ) , they flush me .
WTF???????????
Seriously people, don't deal with them.
So far, what I learn is that more this device is getting old ( wtf? a year or so isn't old) they have observed this issue.
Be careful pals, don't over use it
IF you buy a LG product, do not expect customer support. My e980 had a failed battery at 10months, LG basically told me to go screw my self. (Wanted me to pay to ship the phone, which would cost more then a new battery, and why do they need the phone when the battery is faulty, i gave up, bought myself a new battery, and have been good since. ) other then that, i like their hardware, ive had a G2X and now the G pro.

I see a lot of people try to blame manufacturer for the issues of their phone. LG, HTC, Samsung, Apple.
Remember, they all offer one year warranty. So if your phone is still under warranty, go RMA. I already got two HTC and one Samsung exchanged.
If your phone is not under warranty, did you buy it used ? Then you should blame the previous owner or yourself. Why did this happen to your phone ONLY while ten's of thousands of users here are fine?Did you do something that may cause the issue?
This is not personal. I just try to say something fair when I see people said "Never touch LG/Samsung/HTC.."
It won't help your phone come back. And it did mislead other users

It doesn't sound like they told you to "go screw yourself" exactly. It actually makes quite a bit of sense that a manufacturer would want all of a faulty device to arrive rather than that their customer just send them the parts they assessed as faulty. If they had to send you a new device, they would probably want the old one intact.

I called LG to exchange my Nexus 4 earlier this year. I call only once and they give me a shipping address( HTC also give address when I called ), asking to ship within 10 days or so .
They did NOT ask the carrier of my Nexus 4.( T-Mobile if you want to know ). They just check Imei and verified that the phone was under warranty.
I did not send the phone back to LG in the end. Someone bought it from me. The Nexus 4 has light yellow tint on display but hardly noticeable. The buyer don't care..
My point is, OP, I guess you did not told us that your phone might not be under warranty

Asking you to shipping back to factory is Exactly what is called customer service.
All manufacturers do so!
They need to run full software and hardware check on your device, making sure that all parts are working when they return the phone to you.
You might care a few bucks shipping cost . But truth is that maybe battery was not just the faulty part. Something else MIGHT go wrong as well. They need to find out once you call in for RMA.
It is YOU don't know what customer service is, Not them.
hey guys first post here so sorry if this is in the wrong place or something, ive been lurking this site ever since the S2X was new but decided to make an account now, anyway im a huge phone guy like im sure pretty much all of you are and ive had lots Z3,G3,Z2,S5,Note 3,OnePlus One, nexus 5 and a bunch of others anyway besides the point. i bought a G4 a couple months ago brand new from a local cell shop who i trust with all my stuff (its called wirelesswave) because they seen to know what there doing, and it has been extremely slow im not sure if i can post videos in here but it will completly freeze for minutes while doing something as simple as running facebook with a chat head open and dont even try to send a snapchat because that will completely lock it up and take like 1 minute to recover about 5 days ago i tried to do a reinstall and same problem ive tried everything im using nova launcher and animations are off and anything that would help performance is on/off and i uninstalled all the bloatware i could everybody tells me they love there G4 and its awesome but im just not seeing it i would just trade it for an S6 or something but ive spent way to my money on accessories and i dont want to loose all of them (many dbrand skins a 8500mAh zerolemon battery and like 5-6cases) the phone has been babied since purchase and was never even dropped once
my G3 was much faster so i have no idea what could be wrong, i tried to send it back but a bunch of new people started working at the place i bought it from and they refuse to send it back for me there complete dumb-asses they say that place dosent ship but the other worker told me they did the other day they told me to just send it myself and im thinking LG probably wont do anything with it anyway
other then being as slow as my S2X sometimes the other things that would happen are sometimes the camera would slow weird colors and another time it was really dim and both times i had to restart the camera app to fix.
what do you guys think?
Sounds like a hardware issue. You can send it to LG yourself (go to the LG support site and submit the issue), I did that with mine when it bricked itself (known issue with early units). It only took about a week round trip but expect to be without a device for up to two weeks.
Be sure to mention all the hardware issues.
Hello guys i've been seeing a lot of boot loop news and lg starting to refund people because they don't have spare parts : http://www.mobilechoiceuk.com/News/...offering-refunds-instead-of-replacements.aspx .
So should I be worried that my 5x will boot loop ? I've been using it for 2 months now on 7.0 september update .
just yesterday happened to mine!
Did you try to fix it or got it refunded under warranty ? Also rooted or stock with update ?
Hi, i guess that nobody could know that, but the problem seems to be the same as LG G4, LG V10, LG Flex 2 (all 2015 devices with almost the same motherboard that the Nexus 5x). You can search on the web "bootloop G4 reddit" "nexus 5x bootloop reddit" and you will find tons of reports, the majority of them (N5x) from last 3 months, and this holds the theory that is a welding issue on the CPU or sometimes on the EMMC chip (apparently LG did not weld very well that year...). The mentioned devices (included ours) seem to last from 9 to 14 months and finally the welding breaks. But now, we know it's strictly a HARDWARE issue NOT caused by 7.0 upgrade, irt's only a question of coincidence between the useful life of the weld and the launch of the 7.0 OTA.
So we all got very high possibilities that this occurs to our devices, eventually. I'm not sure that this is gonna happen to you, it really dependes of many many many factors (heavy usage, kernel profiles, temperature of your country/city/house/workplace, etc etc).
Maybe it never happens to you, but i know what you feel, is not very nice to feel that your phone could die in any moment. It was a low punch for me (i owned a G4 and it bootlooped twice) anyway i am going to sell my N5x due to this problem. Hope i help you with my point of view.
It is solder not weld.
Only Google/LG know how widespread the problem is on 5x.
My guess is it is far more than normally expected for phones but nowhere near as prevalent as posts on forums might make it seem.
So normally you might expect .01% of these types of solder problems. If the problem went up 100x to 1% and you sold 3m phones, that means 30,000 phones with the problem, whereas before you might only see 300.
30,000 people searching google and seeing other people posting about bootloop can start a panic.
If you actually had 10, 20, 30% of people with this problem you would have huge threads.
That's just my opinion.

If you said "It is solder not weld." for me, thanks i didn't know the correct word, english is not my native language (I only learn reading on forums), so i see that you know (or it seems) about solder problems. Look i had two LG G4 both of them die, but not just mine even a cousin had the same issue whit his G4, so i really want to know if you think that the 5x soldering problem is a similar case of high-end 2015 LG Phones G4/V10/FLEX2 (of that magnitude)? or if it's just a "paranoia", i mean we know that the bootlooping issue on this device exists but you would recommend me (i really like this phone) to keep it?
This issue got me really worried due to my bad experiencie with the G4. I just bought the N5x 1 month ago. thank you.
same question how to know if my phone will bootloop...i have my nexus 5x 5 week ago but i bay it not new i bay it used...i upgrade to android nougat no issus right now..ho to know if i will have a probleme in the future iam afraid now

I've been dealing with substandard solder since xbox RROD (red ring of death) where everyone was trying to get their xbox cpu reballed until microsoft admitted the problem.
As I mentioned, I'm sure the incident on 5x is much higher than normal phones, but that might still be a low % (even though it is a relatively high absolute # because of the # of phones that are sold)
I have no idea whether 5x is worse, better, or same as G4 problem. G4 seemed even higher, but could be because more phones were sold. Only LG knows for sure.
A lot of folks in US are finding that their credit card actually extends their warranty beyond manufacturers warranty and people will probably get their money back that way if all else fails.
Of course that doesn't help you if you are traveling and the phone dies. I end up using Google Fi as the service provider for this phone, so if that happened I could just shift all the calls and texts to another phone or tablet and keep going until I get a replacement phone, so I'm not super worried.
I regularly back up the stuff on my phone so the most I would lose is like 1 or 2 days of stuff, which I can deal with.
Personally I wouldn't be super worried this is going to happen to you, but be prepared with backups in case it does, but that is good practice for any phone, because it could always get stolen or drop and break.

Well from what I know if you don't have warranty paper then you can't get warranty by just showing the phone . Its not a 100% chance that it will boot loop I think , but if your not safe with it I suggest selling it working rather than looking for help when broken . Thats just my point of view .

Well I think i have the same point of view to sell the phone working rather that having a paper holder . At least for me its the most logical thing to do maybe the chance isn't high for it to happen but I am not secure with a tought that my phone could die + im a heavy user so i migh make it to the boot loop faster .

Well I don't know if there is or not but from what I know about the problem its random af , so I don't think there is unless only some motherboards are prone to the defect but I think it involves all , just happens randomly . Not 100% sure tho !

No worries , best of luck
Hello guys,
I'm new here, nice to meet you!
For about 3 months i'm trying to fix my LG G3 D855 but with no success.
It started with a loud buzzing, screen freeze and the only way to power it off was to take off the battery. Since then it keeps freezing and i can't use the phone.
I tried the trick with a card placed under the chip, it worked, no restarts or freezes for about 3 weeks but after that i can't make it work. I also successfully flashed the D85530B_00_1217.kdz with the LgFlashTool but the problem it's still there. My phone has the stock rom and it's unrooted.
During this time i got a lot of blue/green/black/red/orange screens with QPST Configuration but i can't attached them because i'm new.
Do you have any idea what can i do to fix it or what caused the problem?
Thank you!
I have the same problem and I thought it's because phone gets hot but even when I was inside Cpu-Z it happened and it restart by itself then it stuck on LG Logo with some strange noise, I have to pull the battery out. Sometimes It turns on and works for a few hours .
I haven't been able to find the problem.
If you fixed your problem I appreciate write it here, how you fixed it.
There are no solutions other than the ones listed in the countless threads around the forum (there really is no need to create a new one every time).
You should use a thermal pad instead to help with the heat dissipation.
If that doesn't help only a proper repair technician with the correct equipment (very hard to find) can fix it.
You can as a last resort, try heating the entire motherboard. This is further damaging the phone though, so use it only as a last resort to get the data off the phone.
