Phone will not power on after RUU - One (M9) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I flashed the RUU from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-one-m9/development/ruu-sprint-htc-one-m9-1-32-651-17-t3073355 in order to take ota. Locked bootloader first. I have used this thread before and worked fine. This time however it seemed to complete and screen will not turn on. Battery was near full when I went forward with this. Now phone won't come on and no charging light when plugged in.

Did you see the warning about only flashing your current version? Are you sure you used the correct one?
Regardless, you'll probably have better luck asking in the Sprint forums.

Damn. I'm sorry for your loss, Buddy. This would pretty much be my worst nightmare.

I read somewhere that it is a safety feature. Connect the phone to the charger overnight and it should power up again

[Q] Un-Brick tools?

Hi Guys -
unfortunately the incredible got bricked today after unroot. I unrooted, then allowed the official update to run, then tried a radio update and it went south - no charging light, wont turn on, wont fo in to HBOOT - notta. I am guessing that this is now my newest and most expensive paper weight but before I shot the patient I thought I would ask if there is a way to un-brick that did not come up while searching google or the forums. I know that I am 99% SOL.
Nope...not that I know of.

How could you run a tool if your phone is bricked? This doesn't sound possible.

Assuming you were already on the 2.05 or 2.15 radio and ran the 2.05 radio update, you are indeed truly bricked. I don't believe anyone has found a way to recover from this.
VZW was nuts to try to save a little data by packaging a radio patch rather than a full radio update, but you get what you get when you deal with a leak.
^ was afraid of that, I was actually on the 1.xxxxx radio, oh well that is what I get for testing things out.

Hmm... well then it's not the well know problem of applying the 2.05 radio patch to the wrong version radio. Not sure what went wrong.
yeah me either, I really dont gave no warning before it just shut off. When the screen went blank I was thinking....please let be a reboot.....not that lucky, she never came back :-/

Call vzn and told them your phone wont turn on and you will get a replacement phone the next day.
slight problem - I had my blackberry hooked up and was going to swap after the update so I dont think they will be able to do anything....
similar problem
i had a similar problem. I'll tell you this. if its under manufacture warranty send it in. i did. they have to put a whole new board but its going to be free. If they have to replace the whole board i think it should be clear how we are never going to see a fix we can do anytime, or ever for that matter.
I was messing around with roms the other day and had the same issue. Did a battery pull and life was good again. Hope that works for you.

Say your phone was Dead on Arrival. Never started up.
I tried the battery pull as well and that did not work. Going to call VZW and see if I can get another one.

I know that today Verizon updated the support page for the new 2.2 update. That's a first. When I first saw the rumor I checked no updated page. Nyah! Went and did some other mom things.
Then engadget posted a picture. So I went and checked the support page again. There it was updated for the new 2.2 information. I can't wait to see what new rom's come out of this.

[Q] Need help, I have a brick

Hi there...
So I have a slight issue. I've been away from the XDA community for a while now, and anyways, I came back and wanted to upgrade into the latest Fresh 3.5.0.1 Rom. So I downloaded it, new radios, and new pri pack, and put it on and went to work. Now that I'm here at work, I flashed 3.5, the new radios, and the new pri. Rebooted (I think I probably should have rebooted after flashing the rom, before loading up the others :-\). I got the wonderful green error arrow thing. I've had this happen before when flashing roms, so I pulled the battery, waited a few minutes, then put it back in. Pushed the power button, and now I have a brick. It won't power up at all.
So I need help, as I've never had a brick before and I'm stuck here at work, working on my mac laptop. Any advice on how to get the phone to start into recovery so I can nandroid backup would be wonderful.
Edit: I was upgrading from Fresh Evo 3.3.0.1. According to Fresh, I should have been able to flash this rom over my old version. :-\
Does anything happen when you try and power on? Ie does the phone vibrate and do anything at all? Also when you plug the phone on does the charging lite come on? I hate to say this but if you answer no to everything it looks like you may have a brick. But there is always hope.
I could be wrong but I think toy were suppose to boot the rom then flash the radios.

No light with charging, not even the most faint bit of vibrating other than my own pulse I do have insurance on the phone however through Asurion or however you spell it.
Also, I was going to delete this thread before you posted here, as I realized too late that this isn't the question forum
Wrong forum maybe, but its already here so its all good. With what you said I would have to say you in fact have a brick unfortunately. I would work on trying to get a replacement from asuron. Sucks man, radios can be dangerous if something goes wrong in the process of flashing them.

Gonna check with Sprint during my lunch to see if they'll replace it for free as a defect ^.^
Sure would be nice not to have to pay that 100 dollar deductible.
Ya, unfortunately you probably pulled the battery while the radios were updating. Good thing you have insurance, because that Evo is done.
Why not take it to Sprint? Just say it stopped working. Make sure to delete any suspicious files from the SD card.

My battery was around 95%.
Alright, and what is this about a green error arrow? Try removing the battery for a few minutes, again and see if it powers up. Keep it on a charger.
After it wouldn't turn on, I pulled the battery for about 5 minutes, then put it back in--nothing. It's sitting on the charger atm; I might stop in at the Sprint Store during my lunch break and see if they can replace it without me getting hit with the 100$ deductible from Asurion :-\
Well, keep it on the charger. By any chance, anyone else in the office that has an Evo where you can test the battery to make sure it didn't magically die on you?
If not, try putting the battery back in and holding the power for an extended time...like a minute. I have heard that to work on occasion.
The green arrow was downloading the radio img. I think your pretty much bricked when u pulled the battery u caused it to stop downloading the img. Dors it by any chance enter bootloader if not itsbricked

Right. Yea hopefully my boss will let me out for my lunch in about 45 minutes and then I'm going to head to the sprint store and see if I can get a phone headed this way asap. Thanks for all your help!
Random Question: Do you think they'll let me keep the mSD card if I tell them that I have a bunch of private information on it that I wouldn't want getting into the wrong hands? And secondly, if anyone has gotten refurbed units--do they send them with SD's equipped, or will I get to keep my old one?

Yup, you're definitely bricked. That green arrow meant it was writing the radio image, and a battery pull during htat process almost gaurantees a brick. That sucks man. Before you go to Sprint, I would highly suggest you clear your sd card, either completely, or just ensure that there are no ROMS, flashable zips, or anything that will give the Sprint tech a clue that you've been rooted and flashing stuff. I've read where a phone was bricked and wouldnt turn on, so the Sprint guy wouldn't have known he was rooted, but he looked at the SD card, and saw ROMS, kernels, and other things that indicated the guy was rooted before. The tech was a jerk and wouldn't work on the phone and red flagged the account. Guy with broken phone = screwed. So yea, either remove your card before you, clear your card before you go, or remove all root/flash related zips and files from your card. Good luck man.

Well if they are able to swap it right there, they should let you keep your sdcard, and they can keep the other one. And they would have to give you the phone as a "complete" unit, so it should come with an sdcard, and if so, you can keep it as an extra.
Also, just in case, take the sdcard out now and copy it to the mac, and remove all you "rooting" files, roms, kernels, ect and place back on the sdcard; in case they don't let you keep it...but they should.

Yea I pretty much deleted everything. Never know which files might look not good to have on there. My store isn't a full blown Sprint Store--I don't think they have any real smart tech people, but it never hurts to be safe. I'm still going to ask for the card regardless.

Update
Update:
So I received an express ordered replacement on Friday. I'm was super excited until I saw the screen. There is a thumbnail sized bright spot. I'm assuming that the phone I got was a refurb, but this makes slightly angry. Now I have to go to a repair center and probably get a screen swapped out or get a new phone ordered in. Worst part about it: it's a 45 minute drive to nearest repair shop. NO wait, I lied, the actual worst part about it is the fact that I can't root until I can get it fixed
Random question: I had been away from XDA scene for awhile. It looks like CM7 is looking pretty snazzy now with 4G functionality. Is there any downside at all anymore? Before it was because there was no 4g and no HDMI. Any thoughts are appreciated.
Take your sdcard out and then tell them you just downloaded the latest ota and I have had one refurb with card and one without either way KEEP Your sdcard

BIG Problem

For like the past day or two my phone has been running extremely hot and the battery isnt charging like it normally does. Now it charges extremely slowly, if at all sometimes, and no the contacts are not dirty. I Tried charging it using USB and also wall outlet, ive tried changing the wall "brick" used to plug in my usb cord to higher and lower amperage and voltage but same problem. Now back to the heat problem, Ive tried switching up ROMs, kernels, ROM/kernel combinations just in case it was a kernel and/or ROM problem and same thing. Both problems happen with my 3800mAh extended battery and stock battery. Please if anyone knows anything about this or has any help its well appreciated.

Weird, dude. Well you close to being able to safely assume its not a software issue. But before ruling that out completely I would Odin back to stock; it really does make a difference. Also, can you tell me where the phone is getting the hottest at? Is it just the battery or is it somewhere else?

They may not care, but I personally would try to get back to stock not to chance it.
Also, I most definitely recommend fastboot over Odin. The only time I would use Odin, is if my USB port died and I wanted to get back to stock.

"Tampered" screen. S-On. HBOOT-1.57 with loop. Is there any way to save this phone?
So I was trying to follow the guide to completely return a phone to stock to return it to a seller due to hardware issues (they sent me a not so great repair job. I tried to live with it for a while but just couldn't.) But with missing files and etc I was having troubles getting it all to work. I probably should have just downgraded completely down to 1.10 or something. Anyway, I had the odexed full 4.10 installed but forgot that it wasn't quite 100% stock because I had to grab the TWRP flashable version. The intent was to let it do the OTA upgrade to 5.28 and be 100% stock (plus I wanted to be sure that the OTA function worked so the next person to get the hardware could get the 5.0 update whenever it hits. If. I didn't want them to be stuck with a partially working phone any worse than the already existing hardware problems.) Before the OTA update finished I thought I should S-On since all was working. Ok, I screwed up and I don't deny it. But now what do I do? From what I understand, the only way around the "tampered" bootloop is to flash a stock RUU. But thanks to Verizon's bloody bootloader lockdowns, options are extremely limited there and I can't just flash an older RUU. Since it's HBOOT 1.57, that means that the old 2.10 and lower RUUs aren't going to cut it and I'm not finding anything newer for the Verizon models anywhere. It's ridiculous that this situation even exists IMO since the whole goal here is to go back to 100% stock and their system to force people to stay stock is the very thing stopping me from doing so. But worse, it's now basically a brick...
Is there any way at all to save this phone, or am I utterly hopelessly screwed?

Oh, gotcha. I for some reason thought from all those guides and such that you had to specifically flash a RUU zip file manually. I'll grab that and give it a shot. It sounds like just what I need.
EDIT: Thank goodness. This did it. 100% stock. I was afraid I wouldn't even be able to return it. I just hope the next user feels better about the incomplete repair job the seller (or whoever they got it from) did on it than I did. (Though the lack of a LED is a pretty significant problem. They really should have fixed that.)

No LED under any circumstances at all. I can't even imagine how they managed to damage a phone in such a way that the LED would utterly stop working, yet it wouldn't require a new mainboard or something. I guess the only way to repair that would have been to replace said mainboard though. Well, no matter. This time around I decided it just wasn't worth trying to save the money buying a used phone and got one sold as new, sealed in box. If anything is wrong with this one I'll be amazed. (Well, barring the camera issue. *Fingers crossed*) One thing I can say though, the top speaker barely worked at all, so whatever they did probably did a decent amount of damage to the entire top section. I wouldn't be surprised if there were other troubles such as the front camera (I never use it) or maybe the sensors (though the light sensor seemed ok.)
BTW, the program did, in fact, work. I had it restored 100% to factory, tested it out, and found absolutely nothing wrong (at least nothing besides the problems the seller sent it with. I can't fix those...) I really hope the next person who gets stuck with it is happier than I was with those issues. I guess that's what one gets into buying used, but my previous experiences with such things were a lot better. (For instance, I fried my SGS3 via circumstances I don't want to get into right now. I bought one with a broken screen, swapped out the main board from it into mine, and presto, I had a once again working SGS3. Actually, it happens I ended up perhaps better off as it never seems to have had modem issues some others have had and the SoC seems to be stable at ridiculously low voltages if I were so inclined -- well, there's no real reason not to lower the voltage if it's 100% stable IMO, so I went ahead, but I didn't do an in-depth test to get the minimums.)
