Help with 802.11ac network and wifi offloading - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Dears
I forced my router to work with 802.11ac to use with my LG G4 (H815) but i couldnt connect, SSID is visible and clicking connect does nothing and shows no error, so i checked logcat and found the following error
D/WiFiOffLoadBroadcast(22975): MCCMNC not supported: 60203
My operator doesnt use WIFI offloading and as a result i cant use AC for some reason, the workaround is to turn on airplane mode and turn on wifi then turn off airplane mode thats the only way i can connect to the AC network
I would like to know if there is a way to disable wifi offloading all together ? or anyother solution that will allow me to connect without the workaround mention?

Not possible to connect to Wifi AP not broadcasting SSID ?

Hard to believe !
I just got back home and tried to connect my new Blue Angel to my Wifi network and... and... and... it seems that there is no way to connect to an AP not broadcasting the SSID !!!
Can someone confirm this? Why such a restriction? Any workaround (besides broadcasting the SSID) ?
My previous PDA did not have this problem !
Thanks.
You are correct. This does not work with the current driver version (at least the one that shipped with my MDAIII in Germany).
Even if you connect to the AP with the SSID broadcasting and set-up WEP, the link will not be re-established when the SSID broadcast is subsequently turned off on the AP.
I also found that even when SSID BC was on, the MDAIII required frequent resets when turning on Wifi and switching APS. Hopefully they'll supply an updated driver.
BTW: Connecting to non-broadcast SSID does work on an MDAII with a sandisk wifi card using the latest Socket driver (doesn't work with the Sandisk driver).
Cheers,
Martin
Well, it works on my new SPV M2000. My AP has an SSID set, but does not broadcast it. I had to type the correct SSID/WEP key, and it all just worked.
I can connect to my access point, even though it's not broadcasting it's SSID. I think the trick is to name your network the same as the SSID. After turning on WLAN, in the WLAN manager - click tools, then click new connection and name the connection your SSID, and then enter relevant WEP keys, etc.
Be warned that it seems the PDA2K has awful WiFi range, my connection rarely shows over 50%, even in the same room as my access point, and on the next floor of my house, the connection often drops - never had this problem with any laptops or other PPC devices.
@whydidnt and dbarfoot :
Okay, sorry about that. I could not find how to get to the place where you can see the active WLANs APs etc... Seems to work as it used to.
I'll disable again the broadcasting of SSID today to check if it works okay, but I don't expect a big surprise.
I was kind of worried if it really had not been supported properly
Thanks

Problem with WIFI

I have a problem with my wifi, at work I connect to a Addon wireless router and most of the time it works ok.
But at the moment I'm having a problem where the phone finds the network, says remembered, secured with wpa/wpa2 psk, then it suddenly drops to not in range and my wifi status is 'disconnected'
It continously is doing this at the moment and just wont connect, the WPA key is correct for it as I have connected fine to the router before.

Click to collapse
is the signal weak? i.e are you far from the wireless router?
Im sitting next to router and the signal is Excellent
Is there anything on the router that could be blocking my phone from connecting?
yes if someone has setup mac address filtering
Mac restrict mode = disabled
i have a router that every 3months or so i have to reboot!
i see it in the wifi available list but it won't connect
turn off and back on and hey presto.
not ideal i know but hey ho
could try a reboot on phone too

[Q] Connecting to Wifi - Not Broadcasting

Must the router be broadcasting in order for the SGN to connect? I've always been able to setup without broadcasting the router for all to see, however I turned off wifi boradcasting and ICS cannot connect to the router, but will automatically connect if I'm broadcasting. I prefer to not broadcast my router despite having security encryption on, so am I missing a setting or something on the SGN, or is this the only way for wifi to work properly.

Sony Xperia S Wifi doesn't work correct

I have some issues with my Wifi
I installed Honami Sytle Rom and selected Wifi Fix in Aroma.
So when i am connected to a wifi 'A' and i want to switch to wifi 'B', my phone says that it could not connect, then it searches for wifis and connects to wifi 'B'.
When I install apps wich switch to the wifi with the best signal, the wifi doesn't connect to any wifi. It says that it will connect to wifi 'B' (for example the wifi with the best signal), then i get a message that it couldn't connect and then it doesn*t connect to any wifi.
Maybe it's because of the wifi fix? Is there a chance to undo/uninstall this "addon"?

Moto Z Play will not connect to any unsecured wifi network.

My phone works fine on my home network, but it will not connect to any unsecured wifi network. Trying to get on boingo, it will say connecting, then saved, then disabled. I enabled wifi debugging and it shows a bunch of what look like are MAC addresses and then states NETWORK_SELECTION_TEMPORARY_DISABLED 20 m 16s, NETWORK_SELECTION_DISABLE.
I have tried booting in to safe mode and cleared the cache partition. I am never able to get to the boingo login screen since the network never connects. I have tried to manually enter the ip in chrome, and firefox. Have tried on boingo and cox wifi hotspots. I'm wondering if there is a setting somewhere that turns off access to unsecured wifi networks?
