Gaming issue - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi guys,
i just wondering why when i using TW such as dn4, nemesis or eclipse, the fps turn very low and games become lagging. i am not sure whether got world of tanks online battle fans here. BUT, when i use CM or aosp rom such as paranoid rom, cm12.1 rom or cmx rom, the fps turn high and with good graphic no lagging at all. All this rom i will use agni kernel. already did to change some setting at agni but still lagging and fps low. but not for aosp or cm base. why? can someone explain how to make the TW rom compatible with gaming. please excuse for my english.

What's probably happening is the amount of RAM each ROM is using. TW is known to come pre-loaded with a crap tonne of bloat that you don't need (but might want) and more than likely is running in the background. AOSP on the other hand is the complete opposite, it come pre-loaded the basic necessities although they run in the background as well there aren't as many of them impeding your gameplay

[Q] AOSP ROMS as at Sept 2011

Hi all,
The Dev Forum seems to be pretty abundant with Sense-based ROMs at the moment, and I guess that's to be expected with 3.0 being everyone's new(ish) favourite thing, but not all of us are Sense fans and I just wanted to get people's opinions on the current state of play concerning AOSP ROMs and their latest versions, especially around battery life.
What have you used / are you using, and how do the current suite of AOSP ROMs compare with each other in terms of battery life (but other stuff as well)?
I'd love to hear about people's recent experiences.
Thanks.
This rom is the best aosp rom I've used yet. Blazing fast and amazing battery life.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1070501
I tried Gingerbeast, HydrogenMod, Hikari, CyanogenMod and Ginger S and I can't seem to get any of them to be 100% fully functional. I've had a problem with bluetooth not working, not being able to import contacts, the home button stops working, com.android.phone force closing, etc. I've full wiped, reinstalled, fixed permissions, etc, but I can't get any AOSP rom to work. Surely there must be a leak of the AOSP rom that HTC use before adding Sense and other HTC addons?
While AOSP roms are light wight and seem fast they will never compare to roms built off of sense roms. Why you ask. Look at the roms like CM7 and other AOSP roms, they have to use open source drivers that dont make full use of the hardware. Like wifi and blue tooth. Both lose 25% strength because of the Open Source drivers instead of using the drivers built for the Phone like the closed source HTC drivers.
Umm, apologies if I've confused myself out of sheer ignorance, but can't you just flash a custom kernel like Lordmod's excellent one, which DOES contain official DHD phone drivers?

Sense based kernels will not work on an AOSP roms
LM is a aosp kernel.
i don't see any problems with pretty much all of the AOSP kernels i have used (Most CM based ones, quite a few Miui Ones, and the default CM7). The Wifi and BT work, gaming is pretty good, and its also much less laggy (Sense based roms occasionally freeze for no reason. Its annoying with music playing)
The only thing i dislike about AOSP roms is the camera which doesnt have touch to focus video recording, but pretty much every other sense feature can be replaced by a free, custom app (LauncherPro is much better than rosie 3.0/.5, custom video players play more movies, etc.)
you could always flash a sense/rosie/app remover on top of a sense based rom

Unless you needed to connect to a spicific type of network or need BT to work a certain way you wouldn't notice it.

Yeah, not sure about that 25% statement, mate.
I've been running CM7 Nightlies or CM-based ROMS for a while now and, if anything, I've noticed a significant improvement in connectivity (in general) from what I previously experienced on Sense ROMs. I'm sure that Lord Clockan's excellent kernels have a lot to do with it, but anyway...
I suppose everyone's experience is different.
Hy,
I am also a HUGE fan of AOSP. Since I bought my DHD it had Sense for one day because I had no time to flash. I also spent some time comparing Sense vs. AOSP Roms, and can say that AOSP has better performance on my DHD then Sense and always used them with the kernel they come with.
Aosp all the way. My recommended roms:
Oxygen Rom:

TalonRom:

[Q] How to make Desire HD faster ?

Hi ,
I have a question . How Can i make my dhd faster ? The game order and Chaos is laggy :-(
How Can i pimp it to 1,5ghz ?
Flash a good rom. The rom make a huge difference. Try Miui or cyanogemod. But the best thing are the new ics roms, that are the fastest at the moment.
Try revolution HD 7.4, its gb and very fast, can clock to 2 gig (I wouldn't though) I usually sit somewhere between 1.1 and 1.5, runs soooo fast, ics roms can be a little laggy with some games at this stage.
Sent from my Desire HD using xda premium
And a lot of the ics rooms have camera issues...

Lord clockan's ICS is the best out there if you just want to do gaming due to the latest libs and structure but if you're concerned about camera and all that then you should get a non sense GB rom because sense GB roms take up a lot of memory, causing force closes
Try to use a rom for DHD And Not Ported from other phone and usually try a light one like cm7 or miui even ics rom are very good but lack the camcorder i would suggest AOSP

The fastest Rom is cm7 for me, and more beauty and useful are ARHD and xxxPacha s3.5 like s4.0.
Or you can use -
Check out "AnTuTu CPU Master (Free)" - https : //play.google. com/store/apps/details?id=com.antutu.CpuMasterFree

flash CyanogenMod rom
For GB AOSP , try BlackICE ROM.
For ICS, only tried Lord's AOKP ROM.
Issues with games on ICS ROM if any might be down mainly into 2 possibilities. Either it's the ROM or the game/app not compatible with ICS itself.

you could install miui 2.4.20 (its gingerbread 2.3.7) very stable, you could add a lordmod kernel 8.6 CFS,
depending on your battery needs , you could set up the governer to performance, would give great performance but more battery drain.
Firstly, make sure the ROM you have installed onto your phone is not bloated with loads of crap and has a good kernel and libraries. Cyanogenmod 7.x is a good Gingerbread ROM to have installed, which has the bonus of being widely supported. If you are feeling more adventurous you can try MIUI or an Android 4.x ROM.
After you have a good ROM installed, you can then play around with overclocking tools. Note the ramifications of overclocking and how it works should be understood before doing this, otherwise you can shorten the life of your CPU etc.
Doing some research on Google and these forums is the biggest hint I can give you. Knowledge in anything technology related is a useful tool indeed when it comes to getting the best out of your computers and devices.
use a program caled 'System App Remover' to remove programs you do not need as they severely bloat the phone full of junk, which will slow it down, but obviuously, be careful what you are deleting etc.
For me, just a very small list of what I remove, as I do not use the apps are:
Facebook + any facebook widgets
Twitter + and Twitter widgets
Live wallpaper + Live wallpaper picker
Shelf Widget
Bookmarks Widget
Weather Widget
.....and LOADS more, that I personally have zero use for.
This, plus overclocking the CPU by a small amount...1.2-1.3Ghz makes the phone FLY, no matter what Rom I use.

[Q] CM10 Gaming performance and Camera quality

To those who have tried CM10-based ROM either FXP, AOKP, or MIUI, I know CM10 has good performance and smoothness all-around,
but I'm curious about these 2 things
How is the gaming performance, mainly Temple Run which I play a lot when waiting or sitting around?
How is the photo quality from camera compared to stock ROM?
(I never tried CM-based ROM so I'm a little bit nervous about trying it, and also I heard that Titanium-backup doesn't work, so I can't restore applications data, which means there'll be lots of work to re-customize the apps .)

Yeah try Cm10 fxp142 or fxp143 (I think fxp143 will come out tomorrow).
Firstly, gaming is amazing! Best gaming ROM I've ever tried thanks to project butter and jelly bean. Modern Combat 3 runs smoothly, and temple run flawlessly.
Secondly, the camera is camera ics from play store. Download it and give it a go and make a judgement if that's good enough for you. Also adfree removes ads on camera ICS, so that's pretty much everybody's set up.
Conclusion: get cm10. Its awesome.
Hit the thanks button if I helped

CM10 sux at gaming bro. Idk about the camera quality but CM10 is too heavy and buggy. Use ICS Pureness. It's been the best ICS rom i came through so far.
for normal use even if in beta stage cm10 is much smoother and snapier than ICS. rest gaming is bit buggy but as more stable versions come it will also get better. for camera the libs are not available for jb so it has problems well most of the jb roms here use ics camera app.
i use paranoid android with fusion kernel 3.5 with no problems .

I've already tried most of Stock-based ROM on the forum, maybe I'll try that too, but I don't have performance issue or anything, even in my current setup in signature, everything (games and what not) runs smoothly,
I just wanted have a taste of Jelly Bean, and since Sony is not updating, I thought about CM10.

Fastest ROM for Ingress?

Hello there,
I'd like to play Ingress a bit more fluently, which ROM will you suggest me?
I use at the moment the Paranoid version with JellyBean and it's really laggy sometimes. The rest of the time it's not very responsive and sometimes also crash...
Thank you so much!
i'd use Froyo or Gingerbread roms and overclock processor if necessary.

CyanogenMod 10.1.3 - Best Kernel/ Rom??

I've tried out some great Roms such as , Resurrection Remix, Liquid Smooth, SlimKat and Cyanogenmod
But so far i only like CyanogenMod, v10.1.3 and whenever i upgrade to the next version 10.2.1 i feel as if it lost its smoothness and it has some lag every now and then and it sorta disappoints me.
I've been wondering , if you guys can help recommend me a Kernel to flash for this rom?
i'm looking for a kernel for this Rom specifically like or specific type
(Type1 )
Very Smooth or Fast
Great or Good Battery life,
(Type 2)
Mixed Somewhat Smooth and Somewhat Good Battery life
(Type 3)
Very Fast and Smooth , okay or below average Battery life.
i use my phone almost daily for just apps and some camera footage but i just want to know if theirs a good one that meets my asking.
also how do i flash a kernel? or well do i have flash the kernel before the rom in CWM or after i flash the rom then flash the kernel????
sorta n00b here
I've been also thinking....
I've been also thinking if theirs a CM ROM? or a different ROM , refering to like a muisic based phone or rom.
such as a Rom that include speaker tweaks or mods and make the sound better or the quality perfomance greater.
and during calls to make it louder or sound better aswell. but also including smooth and fast responsiveness. ive been noticing the FC or force closes in the other roms and sometimes my phone wouldnt wake up when i push the power button and that sorta grinded my gears.
