Fastest ROM for Ingress? - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello there,
I'd like to play Ingress a bit more fluently, which ROM will you suggest me?
I use at the moment the Paranoid version with JellyBean and it's really laggy sometimes. The rest of the time it's not very responsive and sometimes also crash...
Thank you so much!

i'd use Froyo or Gingerbread roms and overclock processor if necessary.

[Q] Smoothest and Stabelst Rom

Hey I have a question because I will give my WF to my girlfriend and now Iam asking which one is the smoothest and stabelst rom for daily use? She likes the AOSP Based Roms so I think I will not use Roms like Wildpuzzle.
I hope you can help me out with that I have tried much but I dont know which one is the best and which one you recommend
PS. Sorry for my bad english I hope you understand what I mean

Awesome. This is a first, at least as far as my observations here go!
Try CM7, the latest nightlies can be found in the last few pages of the CM Nightlies thread.
Gee, I sure wish there was some sort of review thread on the first page of the General section... oh right. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1485583
There is no 100% AOSP Smoothest and Stablest Rom,but try cyanogenmod 7 stable http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1143125,or High-Voltage rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1241339 it's stable for every day use.
P.S. Respect to other AOSP Roms developers every Rom is special, and requires much time and work!
according to my experience Cm7 is a bit slow and heavy..
splashmod v.1.8 is as smooth as hell when overlocked to only 633mhz .
i would recommend you trying that one out...
cm7 stable
CM7 Best candidature, or SplashMod! IMHO SplashMod is faster
just flashed splashmod 1.8 from CM7.
much smoother.
CM7 felt sluggish
launcher (golauncher EX) transitions smoother
opening apps quicker
i'm generally happier now with spashmod. still got my nandroid of CM7 which i'll probably switch to every now and again
I'm going to nandroid splashmod once i have it set up then flash rempuzzle and see which of the 3 i prefer and then i'll choose the ROM for me
I have 3 backups on my sdcard cos I am greedy and can't decide which I like best, each has there benefits.ordered in most used only.
1.cm7 nightlys - cm7 is just superior for customization and extras.
2.rempuzzle (self modded) - very nice and responsive, social intergration very good.
3.stock,bareboned,asop slightly tweaked sense based but removed.- used only for skygo purposes.
Very happy with whichever I use.

Sticked with rempuzzle..nice performance and battery ...

ADW launcher in CM7 is extremely slow. I've tried all sorts of launchers and so far the fastest is Go Launcher. It seems limit the fancy animations enough so that the phone actually feels quick sometimes.

Custom Rom Recommodation?

Hey guys, first i want to say i´m sorry for my bad english as its not my native language.
I think i´m ready to install my first Custom Rom, because i want to have ics after using gb such a long time. Also many games such as GTA 3 lag often.
I read that many ics roms have full touchpad support.
So I would like to ask you some questions, i would be very happy to get helpfull answers
1. Is it true that i can play every game that works on gingerbread with that ics roms?
2. What about the gaming performance in comparison to stock gingerbread?
3. Are there any ics roms that runs smooth and with no major bugs?
Thank you very much! I hope that this kind of threads are allowed
1. Some games don't work with the touch pads on ICS
2. Gaming performance sucks in ICS
3. Define smooth. As smooth as gingerbread, none.
Okay, so i think i´ll better stay on gingerbread then, right?
What ist custom rom with the best performance? both, games and overall menu?

i think glazed ICS with lupus kernel is worth trying
Well I'm using markphytonsics ROM and it's running just as smooth as gb for me. It also has the full touchpad fix. The only thing is a very few games don't work on it. You can try that one. Just make sure to do a nandroid incase you don't like the ics experience. Also be sure to titanium backup your apps if you don't want to lose them.
to complete this thread, i´ve finally installed this and it runs really smooth!

We can't help you find a ROM these thread always get closed because there isn't one ROM that suits everyone, like I'm running pacman right now but I might decide to with slimbean v5 and my own tweaks to it or I might ftf back 2.3.4 GB for gaming its basically trial and error on what you want and what you like

Just one question why do you want to upgrade to Jelly ?
Thank for answering, i would like to upgrade to jb because i would like to have the latest features and to use apps that arent compatible with gb, since i dont use phone for heavy gaming but just emulators i would like to know about experience of users who are on jb, im not asking for the best rom available like other people do, but i just asked about wich rom is more suitable for my use since i only need system smoothness, no force closes and no problems with buttons in emulators
Also i dont really like the memory management of gb on stock and customs, i have occasional force closes and with ram tweaks the situation is worse
Thanks again

For me I searched for a uptodate ROM that have good performance and a good look so there might be better performing ROMs but whitout a nice look (if you want goo performance you need to give up from the look, for me I searched for a balanced roms good look good performance).
If you really want all the new stuff I suggest you to go with Jelly ROMs.
I currently have Miui v5 3.8.16 with dolby which is a very nice ROM Google now works perfectly many features great look and feel, but it's not the best with games (it's acceptable, it's worth for 1 try).
There are some great performing ROMs with different look like there is the: Xperia Z Jelly Bean withe a nice Xperia Z look.
If you prefer the stock android look then CM10.0 FreeXperia Project it's updated every weak or so, very good performance lot of customization ( there is this Project Jellyzeu which is stopped, same stock jelly bean as cm 10.0 but whit out the cm features, this is pure stock very good performance.),
If you would try ICS ROMs I suggest you ICS Original nice Sony ICS look and good performance too.
You should try Cm10 free xperia project. Actually this is the best one for me. I have tested alot of JB roms and this is my guard for now. Stable and smooth UI (you can try use Pure audio and PurePerformances pack's,and the ROM is flying away! - search at Android Software and hacking general development) at newset build FXP237 touchpads are not working, but at 235 works.
Thanks for sharing your experiences with various jb and ics roms,i will try them, also i would like to know, does jelly bean and project butter makes the difference on overall speed and smoothness than ics on our device? If you want, everyone who upgraded or who revert to gingerbread can post his experience and impressions and tell me if its happy or no after upgrading to ics or jb/reverting to gb

i tried many ics and jb roms here and after a while everytime i reverted back to stock based roms and now finally again to real stock with my own mods.
in games performance in jb and ics was the same for me. daily usage is smoother in jb but ics has the touchpads so for me in focus on gaming CM9 was the right one.
i reverted back go GB in the end because generally it was slower everywhere. GB is snappy, you tip the finger, the action happens. i have so much stuff installed and the heaviest games still run as on the first day.
even emulators. i use retroarch mostly and pcsx runs just perfectly under GB - one of the most problematic games colin mcrae rally 2.0 runs beautifully. under ics / jb the gpu drivers are not that good and refresh rates aren't reported right - results in some kind of stuttering. can be fixed but not perfectly.
or compare crazy taxi or most wanted (with opponents and heavy stages -> hint to reviewers here who just show a single lap without anything on the street) - they lag like hell under ics or jb - perfectly fluid on GB - this is the deal breaker for me. definitely.
Interesting, i didnt know about stuttering, i tought that the updated adreno drivers will let gpu gain more 3d performance, anyway with jb there are problems with touchpad or even with gamepad? Jb kernel supports unlocked data partition? Personally i ve tried some ics roms but i finded a bit heavy and laggy in general use then gb so i returned on gb, have to try if project butter makes really the difference, jb should be an improvement over ics

I bought an Xperia T that runs on jelly bean.... its horrific I removed over 100 preinstalled apks and it still idles at 350mb RAM usage
My desktop pc dosnt even use that much. the battery only lasted 5 hours max. and there's no solution for the locked bootloader
I chucked that thing in one of my draws and bought a second hand Play
With my Xperia mini pro I was a big fan of cm7
But with the play I couldn't get the touch pads to work (need for modern combat 4 if anyone knows how to fix that id love to know)
So I tried gin2jellybean ROM with lupus kernel (think its gingerbread that looks like jellybean)
battery's awesome (24 hours still on 95%) touch pads work,
There are some things id like to change and I miss allot from cm7 but overall very happy with it :good:
Rom decision
The best rom really depends to your taste.
I suggest that you try to read the roms on our android development and choose what do you need and like.
Also it is better on gb but for ICS and JB you will need too focus on gaming or looks.
At the moment I am using Nexplay by Cyberscopes and currently observing it.
Overall the best rom will really depends on you.
Use xplay Honami rom by smokerman... Fastest ics rom I've ever used...

Try Gin2jellybean then. I know its on GB but its very fast, it has so much free RAM and it has JB look and feel. Thanks to being on GB it has no compatibility issues, all buttons work and playing on this Rom is awesome experience
Sorry if my reply offended you (I know you wanted Rom on JB) but this is very interesting option.

(Q) which jb or ics?

Hello everyone
I think it would be time to try a newer version of android, But can not decide which, maybe you could help me and explain to what is better ics or jb. Which is faster. I need your opinions
Thanks for your help
jb.. better features.. almost same or better speed than ICS. Touchpads probs in JB more than ICS. but you can try different ROMS and check.
I've tried several roms in all my days with my PLAY and I can assure you ICS is the best IN THE ACTUAL MOMENT. Why? Some days ago I was with a JB on my phone and the touchpads still kind a lag a bit in some games, and this don't happen on ICS roms as far as I know.
true dat.. after writing my comment on top.. I also shifted to MIUI v4 ICS.. and yes.. touchpads run.. phone runs.. everything funs proper.. ICS is the best mix of GB and JB.
well i almost used all the roms over xperia play forum and too many ported roms but myself from arc
i can say that nothing can give me the experience of gb but if you can deal with video lags because of outdated graphic drivers
but if you want to switch to a higher android version i will suggest ics to you
all of the jb roms have some video related problem (i dont know why ) and games are not running well in jb
but jb is a little faster in ui if you choose a well tweaked rom like super jb
but if we get a 3.4 kernel we can have a great working kit kat with great speed in games (achotjan is getting the xperia play soon :victory: )
(even x10 has kit kat now :crying: )
KITKAT WOULD BE GREAT :d

Gaming issue

hi guys,
i just wondering why when i using TW such as dn4, nemesis or eclipse, the fps turn very low and games become lagging. i am not sure whether got world of tanks online battle fans here. BUT, when i use CM or aosp rom such as paranoid rom, cm12.1 rom or cmx rom, the fps turn high and with good graphic no lagging at all. All this rom i will use agni kernel. already did to change some setting at agni but still lagging and fps low. but not for aosp or cm base. why? can someone explain how to make the TW rom compatible with gaming. please excuse for my english.

What's probably happening is the amount of RAM each ROM is using. TW is known to come pre-loaded with a crap tonne of bloat that you don't need (but might want) and more than likely is running in the background. AOSP on the other hand is the complete opposite, it come pre-loaded the basic necessities although they run in the background as well there aren't as many of them impeding your gameplay
