I just got my latest replacement Moto 360 (previous one was replaced due to its battery life, but that never made a difference, and this one for the cracked case), and I'm attempting to get it synced and updated (it shipped with 4.4W.1), but I'm running into nothing but trouble with it.
About halfway through the process of downloading the updates, Google Play Services begins crashing on it nonstop. Over and over and over again. And Android Wear on my phone (Nexus 6, 5.1.1 stock) can no longer connect to it. Perpetually just "Trying to connect...". No amount of restarting either device resolves this, and I've factory reset the watch twice now, and without fail by the halfway point in the download, this starts again.
The whole process has managed to screw up my G Watch, too, which is in the process of resyncing ALL of its apps and watchfaces for no known reason, and sometimes losing connectivity in the process.
Any ideas? I'm at a complete loss here. The watch is useless to me in this state, and I can't find a way around it.
EDIT: Eventually resolved. Finally uninstalled and reinstalled Android Wear on my phone, then reset the 360 for the fourth time and then ignored it for a while, before leaving with it and actually using it normally. It completed the download eventually and updated that night successfully.
For an update to work you need a minimum of 75% of battery on the watch.

I am having the same issues here on multiple attempts. I have tried with Huawei P6 (Multiple software versions of EMUI), OnePlus One, Nexus 7 (2012 - Stock Android 5.1.1) and iPad Mini 2 (iOS 8.4)
They all pair the first time and connectivity is fine but once they loss connectivity they do not reconnect and if I software update it get around 25% and they I get "Google Play Services has stopped working or com.google.gapps has stopped working...
I can only solve this by resetting the watch back to factory defaults but that isn't a good solution.

From what I can find it's not the watch or the mobile device that is the issue. The issues is the Google Wear App on our phones. The latest build 1.3.0.2250989 released on the 18th of September create this issue for many people. There is almost nothing we can do but complain to google on the play store and hope they fix it soon.

If that's the case, uninstall the Wear app and install an older version of the Wear app from apkmirror.

Yes this is what some people suggested, although I haven't tried this yet some people said it won't work with the latest build of Google Play Services. Not sure if this is true or not but I might try it later tonight if I feel up to it

You could downgrade the google play services as well, although your other google apps probably won't like that. I've never heard of an app complaining about a version of GPS that was too new though. Only too old.

Yup, I will being testing it in a little bit :highfive:
Update:
I have managed to install the older version of AW and it appears to be stable version (1.3.0.2139573). The newer version have crashes on launch. I am going to try update my moto 360 from 4.4w2 to 5.1. Wish me luck!
Update 2: I successfully managed to pair and update my moto 360 on version (1.3.0.2139573) to 5.1.1.
After the update I had to update the Android Wear App on my phone to the latest build to get it to pair with my watch. I have been connected for around 8 hours now and all is working like it should.

Today Google Wallet became officially available for my Yakju Galaxy Nexus on Play Store and I installed and activated it on the device. It worked fine. I then decided to flash the Takju ROM, also available from today. GW is included in this ROM. Upon starting Google Wallet the application got stuck on "Initializing your device". While researching the problem I learned about the NFC Secure Element problem. I was almost ready to return my phone when an idea came to mind. I recalled reading some place how a chip/part of NFC is indeed in the phone battery. I currently use an OEM extended battery. I replaced it with the original battery, which was not affected by the application. To my surprise and amazement Google Wallet started with no problems. At this moment from the within the GW application I did a reset. Changed batteries again and this time GW started again with no issues and with the extended battery that was initially in the phone.
In brief, to fix the problem follow these steps:
1.You need to find a second battery, your own or borrowed from a fried. This new battery, if already used with GW, needs to first be reset from within GW.
2. Place the battery in your phone, activate GW, confirm everything works.
3. Reset GW from within the application. Take out the second battery.
4. Place your first battery back in the phone and start GW. Enjoy GW!
5. The second battery is good for new activation of GW too, since you reset it already in step 2. Thank your friend for the battery.
If I saved your phone, I'll appreciate a small donation to buy a beer. Cheers!
Any1 try this?
I believe you are correct. I had a secure element error when I upgraded from liquid 1.25 to 1.3, but it was fixed when I flashed a fix for deep sleep and Google Wallet that I found on the liquid thread. However, when I was doing some research, I came across a similar statement.

I'm having the same issue. Tried a friends battery and no go still get stuck on the initializing the device. And when I go to settings and click more it freezes settings and force closes. Flashed back to stock and went into settings and clicked on more and went in fine. Started Google wallet and stuck again. Went into settings/more and bam. Froze again.

Do you have a nandroid of when it did work? I had this problem, but when I flashed my backup everything worked fine.
The Battery Does Not Matter...
The battery only has the antenna. It does not contain the actual NFC chip or secure element which are in the phone.

Mine does that too, not just my phone but my Wireless hotspot too, (a AT&T Unite) I can keep the connection up by doing a "ping www.google.com -t" in the command line.
Yes, this will kill your battery, consider using bluetooth or USB tether.
Furthermore AT&Ts DNS servers suck use these
8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
Just put them in to your DNS settings in Windows.
This isn't an issue with your devices, its a AT&T issue from the looks of it. (I called AT&T and they tell me that the local tower is having issues so unless I continuously ping google I can't tether or use my hotspot for more than 20 minutes without getting DNS errors, Does it with any ROM I try, even my PlayStation Vita does it)
Sorry but my note 2 is bell variant and i'm on bell network in Canada. The only reason I'm using this forum is because AT&T has the same model unlike the other verizon and such.
So any other idea???
i also tried to set the hotspot auto turn off to always on and it seems to help a little. however every now and then i still get disconnection.

Did anything change when you continuously pinged Google?
I keep refreshing the page, enter new common websites such as MSN or yahoo and they all show nothing except DNS failed look up. I changed the bell apn to some tether apn bell offered but that didn't work. So now I reset the apn to have it look up the settings itself. Still having the issue..
I never had this issue until recengly like last two weeks. Iunno what could be the Cuz and I can't figure out is it my phone, rom, or laptop...
I seriously will pay someone if they can't help me fix this!
Thanks in advance to this wonderful community.

Disable your app and use ES File Explorer to hotspot. This can help to see if it is wifi app specific issue, or a common (phone setting, DNS...) problem.

Hello everyone,
Since 2 days now, my 4G/LTE/EDGE symbols have been constantly appearing and dissapearing. I am in the NF1 firmware and rooted. It was working great but now it is like goin on/off like every 5 seconds. I think my data got blocked by T-Mobile but I'm really not sure.
You can see the video I recorded about the issue here

You think you went over your allotted data limit? If that was so then the symbol would switch to 4G instead of 4Glte, Maybe you are right that you've passed your limit and maybe you should check settings/more networks/mobile networks and ensure that network mode is set to LTE/WCDMA/GSM and check that mobile data is enabled.........and my last guess could be that maybe your sim is loose or failing?

I think it is a bug in the system. I used 2056.47GB according to the My T-Mobile website (tethering non stop), but on the use tab it tells me I used 2048GB of Unlimited. Maybe that stopped my data. I guess on the 17th it will reset and I'll have internet again since calls and messages works correctly. Also, there's no alert on my account and neither a message sent, so my guess is their system just limit the data to 2048GB somehow.
2 terabyte wow. I use net10 on att towers and have massive data connection issues as of the past 2 days and i just put a new monthly on it.

I called them and they said the data was not blocked and that it was not possible to block because it is unlimited, which I think is clearly a system bug or a hard or soft limit of 2048GB
I find it really hard to believe that you managed to use 2TB of data, even if you're tethering. I'm not saying you're lieing, but I think there's something wrong on the backend here that's not reporting appropriately.
There's obviously some kind of issue occuring when you authenticate on the T-Mobile network. My suggestion is either ODIN the phone back to stock and try again, or go into a Store and see if they can tell you anything about your account that's throwing flags at them.
I hope they did block you.

Yeah I think they did that throttling thing because of me
Well, I'm hoping the 17th I get the internet again, of course more carefully. I was just looking at the "how much unlimited data means" limit and I seem to have found it.
If not, the reps said it could be the SIM Card and I have to go to the store then.

How can you even call TMO with a straight face? 2 TB is abusing it, dude.
Can you try a few things?
1) Turn the phone off then back on see how long you have data for.
2) Force the data band of the phone and see how long data works for.
3) Put your SIM into a different device and see how long you have data for.
And of course if you can try all these things on a few different towers just to be sure.
Also can you try cooking an egg on your phone? That thing must be running pretty HOT.

All of that was what the reps said me to do, but data doesn't work.
Here is the bug I suspect, which makes me believe data is turned off at 2048GB:
In this image, the data reported 2048GB, but it let me use a little more. It just stayed at 2048GB

Here you can see that it is reporting what I really used before data was turned off:
I know I may have abused but still they didn't really said nothing about it, and they said blocking can't be done on the phone call. They said to visit the store for a phone/SIM checkup.
You can try to reset your NV values and modem. Below is a link to the thread with instructions.

So, in conclusion, T-Mobile unlimited plan indeed have the 2048GB limit.
I hope people aren't complaining about a 2 terabytes limit. I felt like I was abusing when going through 10 gigs a month.

I'm hoping someone might know why the wifi on my S8+ turns itself on and connects itself when I have all the wifi settings that I know of turned off?

Mine does the same thing when it's close to the router. I've gone into wifi advanced and turned everything off that could trigger it also turned smart switch off. When I have the phone away from the router it doesn't happen, just wondering if there's a proximity setting somewhere I haven't found yet.

That is something to consider, since we can't find anything in the standard settings. I'm staying in a motel and the router is relatively close in proximity, 50-60 feet, in a building next door. I've never known or heard of wifi being tied into a proximity sensor. I don't know what the advantage or necessity could possibly be. But, I'm not a phone engineer.

No, this is simply do you want your device to scan for wifi networks. This is a standard option.
Thanks for trying. I can't find anything in settings, not in the Developer settings either.
It's bizarre because, as I mentioned, it auto connects when I'm at the motel.
I just checked in and I didn't use my phone for anything for about half an hour or more. I pick it up to use it and as I'm typing a text message I notice the wifi icon in the notification bar. So, it turned itself on when I got here. I went through all the settings and found nothing turned on or that is running in the background.
So, strange.

Do you have any apps that auto-connect such as tasker or something else that runs tasks based on time or location? Another thing is to check location-based apps that don't have turn on WiFi automatically when they need it to turn on.
Check out this article, which talks about how to check app permissions. I have my WiFi set to turn on when it comes close to my apartment and turn off the sound when I leave a geographic radius of my apartment. Even if my WiFi is off if my GPS locates that I'm within my apartment's radius, it turns on based on rules I set using MacroDroid.
It may just be an app that has the permission to turn on WiFi when it needs to connect or do SOMETHING with your phone.
PS, I'm making no promises, I'm just thinking Occam's Razor.
Having my Mate 20x for 3 months now and being generally happy with it, I recently encountered an annoying bug.
It seems that whenever I connect to a WiFi, that doesn't have Internet capability currently, the phone uses my mobile data to connect, download or sync. Like as if Wifi+ was enable (which isn't the case).
As I'm a permanent traveler, currently in Africa, connecting to WiFi that temporarily don't work, happens quite often, especially after a blackout or something.
Anyway, my Wifi+ is switched off, I restarted and switched it also a few times, but my mobile data is still being used when WiFi doesn't work properly.
I have the EVR-L29 still on the 9.0.0.208 version. The 9.0.0.300 update has popped, but I'm afraid to download it, due to newly introduced crashed and since I basically don't have any other problem with the phone and awesome battery life. Having had Mate 8 and Mate 10 before, I had a few times, that updating too early made it less than worthwhile and since I'm not rooted and despite using Android since Froyo, I'm meanwhile beyond the flashing and downgrading days of old.
What would you guys recommend to remedy the problem?
Thanks!

I think this is an unfortunate feature if emui on this device. I recently asked the question of why is 4G still showing on my status bar when I'm connected to WiFi. On other devices that I've owned connecting to WiFi would visibly remove the mobile data connection. It would be appear that in your case connecting to WiFi truly doesn't disable mobile data.
How about if you turn WiFi+ off, and try connecting to the dead access point, what happens then? Does it still use mobile data ? I just looked at WiFi + and it states that it connects automatically to mobile data and or WiFi to stay online. So perhaps it's doing as intended?

Yes, my Wifi+ is always off. I never used that feature. But I noticed also as you mentioned, that the mobile data counter is still on, even when connected to WiFi. And when the WiFi status has that 'exlamation mark' meaning it's not connected to the Internet, that counter is still running, thus taking data from mobile data.

On the attached screenshot it shows mobile data field as present with WiFi on with my device. On other devices that field Mobile Data would show "disconnected". I wish I could help further , I'm new to emui.

I knowwwww... But I'm reluctant to set up everything manually again... Might probably go through all those updates once I have a stable and fast WiFi again somewhere.

I don't understand? Is it possible to switch on or off something in those settings? I can't seem to find it on my phone?

I don't think there is. It seems an emui feature.
Like I mentioned earlier, other Android devices I've used in the past automatically shut down/ disable mobile data when WiFi is connected. Seems like with this device you don't truly know if you're on mobile data or wifi.?

Interesting tid bit I just came across and thought I'd share with you. So for the first time on this device I ran optimize battery under the battery settings menu.
It suggested I turn off mobile data :silly: very confusing if you ask me.
Seems like Emui has a major status bar flaw in it in this respect. When I turn mobile data off via the pull down quick toggle and also turn WiFi off. It still shows 4G LTE on status bar. I guess this is the issue!
Aida64 app shows that mobile data is disconnected when on WiFi. Still doesn't answer why 4G icon persists when mobile data and wifi is off though.
In Developer Options>~Networking~Mobile data always on~toggle
Tried that?
