Google Keyboard not showing suggested emoji - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I use Google Keyboard and as far as I can tell it should show emoji amongst the predicted words. It seems from various guides I have seen I need to add the 'Emoji for English words' via an add-on dictionary from the language menu. I can't see the emoji dictionary in the list.
Is anyone else using the Google Keyboard seeing emoji word predictions?

chinese input on android

how to get chinese input in android? I am new to android.
I just downloaded google input IME from market place and installed, it is enabled in settings(languages), but keyboard did not change in messages and browser input. why?
any other apps will work?
The default way to change input method has been changed in ICS. Instead of long pressing at any text entry field, In ICS you will see a small keyboard icon in the left corner from the status bar when the keyboard shows up, then you can pull the status bar down and change the input method from there.
Google Pinyin IME is average. Some better options are sogou input and touchpal input. Sogou does not support ICS at this moment. But touchpal V5 works flawlessly.
I actually set default keybord to google pinyin, but then I cannot enable default english keyboard. what if I want to try other chinese keyboard? is there a way to enable multiple keyboard?
What if I want stock ICS keyboard to have Chinese? Any way I can do that?
I really like the stock keyboard and I don't want to use third party keyboard if at all possible
Also looking for this option....Surely there must be a way to switch to hand written chinese input via the stock ICS keyboard right ??? I realise that 3rd party apps are available but they are all terrible IMHO. Looking for something similar to how iPhone handles Chinese input....any ideas / suggestions ?
i'm using penpower, it not made for ics, as the writing pad does not fit the whole bottom half of the screen, but it works.
updated, just installed the ics version.
google voice input is the best. i use HK traditional.

touchpal is good too. they got chinese pack and handwriting pack.
go to System Setting > Language & keyboard > System Language. Then, scroll down and check PinYin option. You can choose handwriting too.
Later, when you're at a text box you will can toggle between English and Chinese using a "EN" key at left side of your spacebar.

[Q] Japanese Keyboard Input

Anyone know how to set Japanese input for the keyboard? I want to be able to write Japanese. I've searched around the web and I heard that only Japanese version of the Note 2 has this option. Is this true?
The additional keyboard language packs don't have Japanese as a language option for some reason.
Swype has a Japanese language pack.
I just use the google japanese (google japanese input beta) keyboard for japanese.
Thanks for the tips. I'm actually looking for something where I can write Japanese Kanji and having the keyboard recognize the words. This is mainly for Japanese-English dictionaries with handwriting recognition. I can use the Chinese input pack, but there are still some differences between the Chinese characters and the Japanese Kanji.
If you just need to look up specific characters you could use either kanji recognizer or wwwjdic, both have handwriting input.

Ah excellent! This sounds exactly like what I am looking for. I'm gonna go try it out. Thanks!

Japanese handwriting support?

I see Japanese as an option in the handwriting language list, but not in the keyboard list. If it's not listed in the keyboard list I can't actually select it while using the handwriting keyboard (which seems rather broken to me). Anyone know how to get this going?

I'm not sure if this is what you want - try Google Japanese Input.
After install, you can enable them in your Settings > Language and input.
Google Translate does japanese handwriting rocognition too.
you need the keyboard and libs from a Japanese ROM. Japanese isn't intergrated into the Samsung keyboard. It has its own Samsung Japanese keyboard. There is another thread around that lists the stuff you need to extract from a Japanese ROM.
Else try third party like others suggested, Swype supports handwriting doesn't it as well?

No more personal dictionary?

So, is it just my phone, or is everyone else completely lacking a personal dictionary? There is no dictionary in the settings or LG keyboard settings, and even if you install the stock Google keyboard from the play store, there is no where to add words/shortcuts. Is this right? Cause that's pretty horrific that LG disables the Google keyboard dictionary/shortcuts and provides none of its own for you to add words.
PS, I know I can type in the word and click add, but there's still no place to add shortcuts, and no way to manage the words individually. I even have dictionary sync enabled in the latest Google Keyboard, but with no dictionary on the phone, it does absolutely nothing.
Click on word suggestions if it's checked.
LG Dictionary
You also need to click on the text of Suggestions to see the dictionary. However, when you open the dictionary, you still won't be able to create shortcuts. That function is blocked.
I'm not sure about the LG Keyboard (as I've uninstalled it on my phone) but, if you install the Google Keyboard, you can go to Settings>Language & Input. Next, click on the settings button for Google Keyboard and go to Text Correction. There you will find the Personal Dictionary and options to add shortcuts.
Hope this helps.
You can create a shortcut to the user dictionary for the LG keyboard using quickshortcutmaker. You can also use Google keyboard to make entries in the user dictionary with shortcuts that will then work with the LG keyboard.
It's now under Settings > Language & Imput > (your keyboard name ie: LG Keyboard) > Word Suggestions > Personal Dictionary

Samsung Notes foreign langauge (Hebrew) handwriting recognition with a 3rd part KB

Hey there.
When the Samsung Keyboard is set as the default, Samsung notes can recognize both English & Hebrew. However, when a different keyboard is set as the default, be it Swiftkey or Goggle keyboard (and others, I guess), Samsung notes will only recognize English writing. Again, I'm not talking about recognition within the keyboard itself, but the recognition in the Notes app, being affected by whether the Samsung keyboard is set as the active keyboard or not. When the Samsung Keyboard is set as default, Hebrew can be selected in the Notes app settings. When another keyboard is set as the default, Hebrew simply disappear and English is the only option (When Hebrew is selected, both English & Hebrew are recognized). Now I'm guessing that the Notes app somehow relies on the Samsung keyboard handwriting recognition engine to function, but I can't understand why shouldn't be able to it when it is simply not set as the default. In addition, I have talked with some other Hebrew speaking friends who do not suffer from this issue, even when they are using a different keyboard. We couldn't understand why.
I appreciate any idea and suggestion
Thanks!
