This is a common problem from kitkat to latest lollipop. And you can blame google for that, even when nobody knows why they enforce that policy so ridicuosly.
What comes to swapping, its not possible. If youre rooted you probably have tried link2sd or similar apps which make links to other places or if theyre not working, maybe other rom ?
Hi,
I am already using JB and moreover I have used link2sd and many similar apps they do work but the apps take a long time to load since they are on card and I also encounter some problems(apps that starup on boot doesn't work)
I have tried swapping internal and external through apps but they don't allow it in JB
If you can find int/ext memory swapper for JB that would be helpful

Hi,I've got the following apps installed on my unrooted Froyo phone with official OTA update and would like to know if anyone with the same device+OTA update, has been able to move them onto the sdcard without doing the adb shell thing I.e. setting install location. The apps are: mippin,Advanced Task Killer, facebook, mediafly,Quadrant Standard,Skype on 3,3uk browser launcher and voice search. With only the following installed,I've got about 95.67MB of internal storage left.Is that still a good amount /size to have for the internal storage? Thanks

You can download the App2SD by Sam Lu from the Market
The app will show which apps can be moved to SD card.
The App2SD itself will be installed on your SD card, so no worries about it robbing the phone's RAM.
Hi
My phone recently received the O2 Froyo update and i have been enjoying it thoroughly. i have installed countless apps on it and as expected i started facing storage issues. I was surprised because i thought now all apps would be installed on SD card. Went in to Manage Apps section and all apps were installed on device RAM taking up any where between 10Kb to 8 Mb per each App.
Also found the transfer to SD card option. Decided to shift all apps to SDCard through this option. This did not solve my problem and its still showing the "phone storage is low alert".
What i noticed was an app that was taking up 8+mb on phone memory before transfer to SD card, only showed 200-300Kb size on SD card... Does this mean that the app is still on phone memory? should i wipe phone/SD card and install everything manually via PC?
Please help, i would like to hold on to the apps that i have on the phone.
Thanks.

when using the move to sd function on froyo, its only the apps .apk that is stored on the sd card... all the app data is still stored in the /data/data/ directory in the devices internal storage

So what is the solution?
There is no solution, you could root and flash a rom with apps2sd+

And you won't gain much more with that than with, for example, ModInstalllocation. I read that one guy reported that with app2sd+ only about 140 MB (of installed apps) went to sd card, while internal memory had been decreased by 120 MB. That's comparable with my results using stock Froyo a2sd + ModInstallLocation.
try deleting app's cache, click each app and delete the cache and then reboot phone.
You will only gain the space reclaimed by moving the dalvik cache to the ext partition.

So it will not help if i wipe/format and fresh install Apps from the PC? When i googled this some of the results showed i should be installing from PC for proper installation over SD card.
i havent found a solution yet
So any solution to storage issues? Such a shame to have a half empty 16Gb mSD Card installed and be running out of app space...
only solution Ive found is to buy a newer device with more storage space lol. Shame as I really like the Desire.
What will happen if memory gets low, will the phone slow down?

Not all apps installs do internal memory. Some end up at the SD by default and many of those that installs to the internal can be moved to the SD.
A tiny part will be left on the internal memory but this really should not be an issue for you. You can have tons of apps.
Use the phone as u want and see where u end up at
Also "the tiny part which will be left on the ROM" will have around 1MB
i'm looking on this matter now, so i'm waiting to root my phone and clear some unused application, to clear my ROM
so how can we move apps on sd card

Head to Settings->Applications->Installed applications and find the app u want to move to SD. Click it and click "Move to memorycard"
Not all apps can be moved this way tho but it helps a bit!
yes there is the option to move them to sd card but it not apply to all apps
is there any software app who can move every thing to sd card then please tell
thank for your time sharing with this post..........
It's prossible to do a 'full' apps2sd if you have a rooted phone and a specially partitioned SD card, but i havent tried it on the arc so dunno if it will actually work.
I dont know why you really need to do this though. The root method i mention above was popular before 2.2 added built in apps2sd, particularly on older phones with small amounts of internal storage, but since android 2.2 there really isnt much point. I've got *tons* of apps installed on my arc, and still have more than half the space left.
There doesnt appear to be a massive thread describing how to get full apps2sd working for a rooted arc, the reason for this is because nobody really needs it. What are you trying to do that needs this?
be careful some apps wont work when their on your sd that why you can't move them.
for example don't move your launcher app ( when using one ) and don't move apps if you use a widget from the app ( or the app is a used widget )

I had the same issue as the OP..
I had install many apps, and then there is warning that my memory is low
I already installed app2sd and moved some apps to sd, but not all apps can be moved.
Is it possible to use an EXT partition on sd as an internal memory?
This trick is common in HD2 world (when using NANDROID).
I havent tried it with my Arc because it is unrooted.
If anyone has tried it, please share it with us
Thanks and cheers ...
I place all my apps too the internal storage. It's easy and there is enough space on the phone
Hi,
I would like to swap the default storage to the SD card. I have T800 and find the 16gb not enough for all my staff.
Is there any way to swap the default storage? I have found link2sd but I never used it and maybe there is a better solution. I am rooted and running Ironrom .

Thanks for your reply. The app just allows to move the movable apps to the SD but this is already built in and I can do this from the app manager.
I wanted to swap the actual default storage from the internal storage to SD. Some of the smartphones do have this option. (I have a Honor 6 phone and I am able to change the default storage from internal to external. Even without root.)
Unfortunately you can't do that with any Samsung device, they just didn't fix it because of the SD card liability and how they construct their folders. I've been wanting that to make it easy.

That's why i am nostalgic to Jelly Bean . I even get lost of my Windows 8 laptop for the changes i don't like, happy now with Windows 7 and Microsoft knows it , the start menu is back in Windows 10.
And for Android,i stay far away from Lollipop. KitKat is bad enouf for me
when there's a will there's a way
No default to sd card but you can move the installed apps via settings in the apps manager. Also you could try foldermount to link these large files to the sd card
hi guys,
please help me out.. i have no games installed on my device. only required few apps out of which most of them are moved to sd card. all my music/photos is on sd card. yet the internal storage space fills up very quicly and even i cant update my existing apps. an error crops up - not sufficient storage left.
I have to reformat my phone again and again to get storage space reclaimed.
I've been using Clean Master to free up space whenever I update anything.
Side note: looks like Titanium Backup can remove system apps now. Failed in the past, but I just uninstalled Bubbles.
Now if only I knew what was safe to remove and what wasn't.
If an app can be disabled normally, can one assume it's safe to uninstall?

Integrating system app updates doesn't work. Tried to integrate YouTube, and now it's completely gone. Crap

Root the device and uninstall all bloatware from system. also, with some effort, you can install Link2SD and move most apps and data to SD-card after Root.
