Looking for volunteers!! - Verizon HTC One (M9)

Guys/Gals-
I'm looking for volunteers to test out the swappa IMEI/SN checker @ https://swappa.com/esn
*************I am NOT looking for anyone to post any IMEI/SN information in this thread********
What I would like is for anyone willing to perform the check to run it using your M9's IMEI.
Report back the following
1) Activation status / clear status as reported
2) Was phone purchased via retail or replaced by VZW/HTC?
3) What make/model is your device identified as on the right hand side of the screen?
:highfive:

A blacklisted device is one in which the IMEI has been blocked by the carrier and thus, cannot be activated through anyone or sold on Swappa. The purpose of this exercise is to help fix a few bugs for swappa involving how the m9s are identified with their IMEI check engine.

4g test device ????

Hello all. I been on the forums a long time but never needed to post until now.
I just bought a HTC One from Gazelle and when I was on the phone with Verizon activating it, the rep asked me to verify that I had the right imei numbers. He stated to me (and it shows on my Verizon page) that it is a "4G TEST DEVICE " Sure enough when I went to the apps page I see apps for:
Dev Tools
Google Settings
HTC SSD Test Tool
Power Usage Reporter
PVS Info
RxD Test QMI
User Trial Feedback
Before buying this I knew I wanted to flash to the HTC One developer Edition. But at this point I am not sure if I should take any special things into mind as this is a Verizon test/development phone. I am content to use it as it is except it won't let me update to the latest builds for the phone. It is running software 1.09.90605.6 which if I understand correctly is a old version. Does anyone have advice? Do you think and of the rom cooks would like a dump from this rare find?
Thanks all

Well I want to flash this to the developer version, but before I do it I wanted to see if any of the rom devs wanted to capture the current image from the system before I do as I don't know how valuable this phone stuff is in its current state. (remembers back when the first android equip dev hp touchpad landed in the hands of the public on accident)
Definitely. There's a bunch of debug tools and hidden APKs cut out from the final release builds that can give us more insight into the radio hardware, for example.
I would ask around, maybe sonic would know.
off topic, im Curious how was the condition of the phone? I almost bought a phone from them but was a little leary
Sent from my One using Tapatalk
Being that no one showed much interest and was running a pre release version and couldn't update to the Verizon kitkat rom, I have to wipe the whole phone clean. To the point that I bricked the phone and I had to use fastboot command in recovery to flash the stock Verizon rom before I could update. Needless to say I was up in the wee hours of the morning doing this.
The phone had nicks, on the aluminum casing and there was a small deep scratch in the middle but considering this phone was probably used a lot in a test lab its in pretty good shape.

[Q] LG Gpad serial number location

Can someone please tell me where to find the SERIAL NUMBER for the LG GPad 8.3? I'm not looking for the IMEI number but the SN. I need to register my sons tablet with warranty company and they are asking for the SN. I've looked in the Settings under About Tablet and Status and it only gives the IMEI. I don't know where to find the actual SN. I have the box it was sent in and the paperwork but nowhere is the SN listed, only IMEI. Ugh!!!
I'm unaware of any serial number besides the IMEI. Sorry.

OK thanks. I don't know what to do then because in order to use the warranty I purchased I have to put in the SN. I can't find one on my Nexus 7 (2013) either.
Settings->about tablet->hardware info->CSN
If you're on stock that is.
You have to flash back to stock, if you want your CSN back. The IMEI is totally different.

Ah, interesting. Thank you! Next question, do non-LTE variants have an IMEI? It would seem to me that would be the reason the VK810.4G doesn't have a serial number, and why other variants without a data radio have a serial number instead.

Here's the evidence that on a device with 3G or LTE, the IMEI IS the serial number (see attached picture from LG's website):

Unable to register on network

Hey guys,
So I recently bought what I thought was a new unlocked HTC One M9 off eBay and while it most certainly is new, it's definitely not unlocked. At least I cannot get it to register on my service provider's network.
What I received is a US AT&T model and while it sees all the different GSM service providers when I search for network operators it won't actually connect to the one that I have a SIM card for.
I've managed to flash ARHD and I've even S-Offed using the premium sunshine method but it still won't connect. What else can I try, would flashing a different radio make a difference?
So what "exactly" does it say when you put your sim in and try to register on the carrier network?.
I wish I stole my HTC M9.
Does it have the proper APN loaded for the service provider you are trying to connect to?
Who is your carrier, and how are you trying to activate the phone *22890? You may need to find and then manualy change your prl.

It does have the APN settings loaded but it's not an APN issue; the phone won't actually register with my service provider's network. Initially before I loaded ARHD I received the following error message phone not allowed mm#6.
"Not allowed on network" means "stolen device". It will be blacklisted on ceir.
The person on ebay robbed you.
i wish i stole my HTC M9" is my signature. The fact you picked up on that says to me that you know your device has been reported stolen and blocked by its carrier.
This practice is becoming more and more common. The seller sells the device at a cheaper rate and the buyer seemingly gets a bargain however, once the phone is received by the buyer as working the seller reports the device as stolen and claims on his insurance policy for another device. Rinse and repeat. Large scale, undetectable insurance fraud!.
The requirement for reporting the device as stolen is just a police report/statement and a crime reference number. It is too easy to lie to the police!.
The buyer then assumes it has developed a fault because it used to work but funny enough, 2 weeks in, the device wont connect to any network and no-one has a clue what is wrong with it because it costs to access ceir, which no-one is willing to pay for.
When you get this = "not allowed on network" it means "your device has been reported stolen".

I thought you had typed that intentionally and were being sarcastic, implying that I had stolen this phone. I didn't realise signatures are shown as part of the post and not after an underline.

Sigh. So much for thinking I had scored a bargain. I just Google'd how I can check the CEIR and that led me to CheckMEND and the results pretty much confirmed what you have said above:

So what can I do now? Should I try contact eBay and say the seller sold me a stolen phone which doesn't work?
If it was me I'd report it to ebay and the police.
I wish I stole my HTC M9.
Report it, not just to the cops and ebay, but also to paypal if that was used and to the phone company. The phone is still possibly salvagable with a little work, but i dont think we can discuss that on here.

M9 Phones have more than one type/brand of screen?

Hello everyone,
I've just jumped to M9 from my old, but still as hard as stone Sennie not even two weeks ago. And today I got another M9 for my gf. My phone is a Taiwan M9U model, and hers, which I got today is M9 shipped to Germany. And here the story began, I turned on the new phone -note that mine was new too- and realized that colors on the displays look different. There cannot such big difference of course as they have the same screen technology with same resolution and size. However, still, on the German one, whites are whiter, on the Taiwan model whites are a bit yellowish -not as much as amoleds- but still yellowish compared to the new one.. Overally, German M9 screen looks better than the Taiwan M9U.
Note: Both phones are stock, not touched, updated to the latest version, display temperature vs. everything default.
Here are some possible reasons for that problem:
1. I remember Sensation screens were produced by two different manufacturers, and they had slight color balance differences of course. So this is one of the possible reasons for this difference (could not check the Panel id, getting permission denied when I put dmesg command. Dont know if this way I can get the screen brand on these phones, this was how we did to get Sensation display model/brand).
2. Taiwan phone was manufactured within one of the first sets of M9 models, so it is one of the earliest M9 phones, while the German one is 5 months old HTC live support agent says. So the changes in the display colors may be due to changing materials or whatever in time.
3. Probably the worst one here: Screen gets yellowish in time as the phone gets a bit hot, though it has been only 12 days since I started using my M9.
I will try to provide photos later, as I need another camera to show that clearly.
I am sorry if this is mentioned in the forum before.
I don't have a direct link but this topic has already been discussed several times. Boot to download mode and enter the system info menu. The line with TP at the beginning tells you which touch panel is built into your phones. There are M9 with a synaptics touch panel and others with a maxim (or something like that) touch panel.

Thanks for the information. M9 has Synaptics touch controller, dont have any idea about the other brand you have. And synaptics manufactures LCD displays in this case?
Ah, my bad. I was in a hurry when I wrote my last post and mixed two things together. There are two touch panel versions and if I remember correctly the maxim one (or however it is called) had/has problems with some custom roms. The gunmetal had black lines.
There were early testing units with black lines that never reached production.

Well suppose someone gets an s20 on payment plan using someone else's information. They sell the phone online and pocket the cash. The phone will work during this period.
Meanwhile, the carrier sends notices of nonpayment to the person who's idenitity was stolen. It could either be sent to collections or reported as fraud/stolen.
The phone will get blacklisted several months later, after you had been using it all that time. There are ways to determine if a phone has obligations. Just becuase you put your sim in and it works does not mean down the road it will continue to work. Unless you are 100% certain the phone is paid off, you never really know. Here's a link to the determine if the phone has a balance owed for the major carriers.
