I'm using a Kindle Fire - 2nd generation, I believe. Under device settings, it shows system version 6.3.4_user_4120720.
While trying to view web sites like the NY Times, pages jitter all over the place as various page features load/blink/annoy. If I click on reader comments, an overlay covers the main page, and if I try to scroll through the comments, the main page BEHIND them scrolls instead. I can't post a link, but a google search for "Migrant Chaos Mounts While Divided Europe Stumbles for Response" will take you to an article whose web page displays this problem (assuming you're also using a crippled browser).
I wondered if the ancient Silk browser simple can't handle the features being added to many web pages. So, I downloaded the Firefox APK directly from a Mozilla.org page. I enabled the installation of 3rd party apps, and when I tried to install the apk, I got a message saying "error trying to parse the package". My method was simply to tap the apk file while viewing it in ES File Explorer. Is there some other step needed to install Firefox? I successfully installed K9 Mail this way, but FF - no luck.

I have an ad blocker that seems to redirect ad pages to 127.0.0.1 which is good.
But stock browser, dolphin and games that have ads embedded give the upside down android and the page that says web page not available.
I'd prefer just a blank page there. Is this page saved on the system somewhere and can it be changed if my phone is rooted? What if it wasn't?
I'm rooted and use adfree android app. Only found one app that has that annooyance
I don't believe that is a local image being shown. Seems someone would have to track the site and add it to the block list...
When you point a browser to 127.0.0.1 what do you see? It pretty much has to be a local image. I get the exact same page when I go through dolphin or my cm browser.
Where is that page stored? I want to blank it out so that I don't get an informative error page, but just a blank page.
How could I find that page? I imagine that it is translated to other languages on other systems.
Idk if this'll help but if you long click on the upside down android, this is its location:
file:///android_asset/webkit/android-weberror.png

Click to collapse
It seems you are correct, sorry for the mis-information.

I believe that path is what I had remembered seeing, must have overlooked the "file:///" part and assumed it was "http://".
I would start by looking in the framework-res.apk file.

I never got this question solved, but the permissions denied app, which works on my rooted epic 4g looks like it prevents apps from attempting to download ads and therefore prevents the "web page not available" page, along with the image, from coming up in place of the ads.
Hi all when selecting links in my stock Internet browser it fails to offer to open these links using relevant installed apps. I noticed this first with youtube links in facebook not opening in the youtube app, but after further testing this happens with imdb and play store. In fact I cannot find a webpage that offers to open any apps, it just launches in the browser window.
Opening these same links in Chrome solves the problem (ie it offers to open installed apps), so I don't think there is an issue with the apps themselves, but I would prefer to default the stock browser if possible purely so I can use the qslide function for normal web pages.
I've cleared defaults and cache and data for Internet, I'm not sure what else I can try?
I'm using e975 on 10c open, rooted and bootloader unlocked.
So this seems to be an issue on my nexus 7 but not my gs4, gs3, touchpad, or atrix. If I click a web link from another app (feedly, email, reddit bacon reader, Tapatalk, etc), the page will open in whatever the last chrome tab I had open was. So if I have three Wikipedia page open and click a hyperlink from email, the last of the wiki page will open the new link I clicked instead of that link opening we In a new, fourth tab. Pottery frustrating as I often have lots of tabs open and don't want one to be over written. Is there some setting somewhere to adjust this behavior? Ideally I want all links fro. Other apps to open in a new browser tab in chrome all the time no exceptions, which is what my gs4 does. Oddly, links from Facebook already always open in new tabs on the nexus though (just want that behavior from all other apps too). Any thoughts
It's necroposting but I have the same problem with an s7 edge and the latest chrome from play store, can't find a way to fix it
Posted in Verizon help forum too:
I've rooted my G3 and have had issues with pages not displaying in full site views @ all (e.g. Accuweather) or incorrectly (e.g. Google Play) for some time now. I get "Server Error...Connection refused...Error 500" when trying to display pages in full site views in Chrome and Dolphin browsers. Other sites, like Google Play display incorrectly/wonky in full site and mobile views, meaning almost in a pure text view, no page search bar, etc. Also, I've noticed when going to the Weather Channel site, the page language displays English and Chinese/Japanese = odd. I've done a factory reset and still have this issue. I know this wasn't a problem before but I don't know if the rooting or use of of post root apps have done the damage. Right now, all I have are some basic rooted apps - ES File Manager, Cerberus, AdBlock Plus, SuperSU Pro, Titanium Pro, Webkey, Widgetroid, and Tasker. I've searched for answers and even went to LG for help, but nothing is resolving this issue. I'm @ a loss of what to do...anyone help, please?
Hi,
There is a feature wherein, one can print to pdf from any app which has this feature emabled. Like say from any mail app, one can print an email and system print dialogue opens up and provides an option as "Save to PDF". Earlier this used to save the print in a pdf format. But now clicking on Save icon results in an error "couldn't create file". Is this only happening to me or is it not available anymore on any android device. Can someone provide an alternative wherein I can save certain information via Save to PDF feature.
Many apps I tried from playstore doesn't work as it was available earlier. As soon as I share a web page from chrome to print, the web page doesn't get loaded into the app for pages which are session based which are mostly transactional confirmation pages. Like say making payment for any service or product and trying to take a print of that to save as pdf.
Would be thankful if anyone can help.
Sounds like a bug on Xiaomi's part. Not sure there's a solution. Sorry
I think turning on MIUI Optimisation should do the thing.
