I am disappointed.
Between the logo and the name, I expected the phone to be able to fly at the very least (if not, have taser functionality).
Throws money at monitor. This phone looks amazing.
They left out the most important spec for a gaming device... GPU?

When I get home, I will take a screenshot using the ACER launcher, so you can see what it looks like when it gets out of the box. Unfortunately, my search to find the exact wallpaper within the system only gave an APK and a .odex file.

The Now app that you can get on Samsung phones is excellent. It's so much better than the HTC Hub. The Now app has a better weather function and is faster and cleaner than the Hub. It has an excellent news function as well. It also has a stocks list.
The best part of the Now app for me was that I could easily remove it If you are not in the US and are not interested in stocks it is worthless. Can't customize it.

No live tile was a deal breaker for me.
the HTC hub just released an update that improved speed and stability but at least I don't have to worry about my phone bricking during updates or my updates being withheld/delayed.
My Omnia updated without issue and very early. Also Samsung updated the firmware to fix the updating issues so people need to stop trolling about Samsung devices. They make the best all-around WP7 phones.

Personally I don't much care for Samsung phones. They tend to be plastic'y and cheaply built. But the "Now" app, which is what this thread is about...aka: not Samsung...does more than my HTC's Hub. I always liked the hub in the past. Now that I've fully realized the "Now" app, I was astounded that some people, I remember way in the past, smack-talked it in favor of the Hub.
I love it. I pretty much just use it for the Stocks, but its a pretty nice app overall. Nice layout, design ect.

Clearly you've never seen an Omnia 7.
But unfortunately, as has been said, the Now app is pretty worthless if you're not in the US.
Thanks for the tip about this app, i am not a big fan of the HTC Hub on my HD7. I will definitely have to give this a try.

It's not a revolutionary app by any means. But it is better than the Hub and the Weather displays much faster. It includes a news screen and stocks screen. The Hub only has Weather and featured apps. What I am impressed by with it is that it provides me with several functions that I can eliminate elsewhere on the main screen of my Focus and it displays faster than the Hub.
I uninstalled my 'Now' app within the first one hour of unboxing.. makes the whole front screen look cheap.. we need more wide tile apps.. plz

Yeah, I read about that bit of misfortune Samsung decided to perpetrate on unsuspecting buyers. When I bought my Focus, I had no clue there was different revisions of the phone out. When I read about that, I was thankful mine is a 1.3. That type of stuff is another reason I don't warm up to Samsung and why I would choose a different brand if given an alternative.

I've got one and have had ZERO problems with it. it's an awesome phone. My largest gripe is you can accidentally push the back or bing button and jumps you out of a game or app, but you get used to it. The other thing is why did they put the charge jack on the top???!!! When your in the car with the charge cable, it's a s s backwards and very annoying!!!
But like I said, other than that it's a solid phone and the Mango OS I have on it is really really nice...

It's sad that Galaxy S3 and maybe the iPhone 5 (or whatever is called) are probably coming out the next month, and we still have no clue if Windows 8 is going to be able to run on our current devices.

iPhone?! So because there is some uncertainty about an OS that hasn't come out yet... you are going to get a phone that hasn't come out yet?
Why don't you just wait until either the iphone 5 or WP8 compatibility are confirmed?
The rumor mill is saying October for an iphone 5 release. If that is the case there is a pretty good chance we will have some WP8 compatibility clarity by then.
Anyway I'm on contract so I had to get a phone now. There was no way I was going to wait around 6-8 months on contract for a phone. I have to upgrade ASAP to justify the monthly bill I'm paying.

It sounds like Android Wear should be updated "soon" and we "should" have the speaker support all of us Huawei Watch owners have been longing for.
The next version of Android Wear is being tested on the Huawei Watch from the sounds of it. I would bet (hope) the Huawei Watch sees the update first! Here is a link to the article by Android Police:

This is why I bought this watch, for speakerphone support on Wear 1.4 update.
The ZenWatch 2 also has a speaker and should also receive an update. No other Wear watches have a speaker.

Yea this is not fake.
The LG Urbane 2 LTE came with this version and had the speaker enabled. The Urbane was supposed to release with it but was recalled due to some "hardware" issues.
I specifically bought the Huawei watch for this specific reason. Watch calls from inside my pool this summer, yes!
I WISH they would include an option for a keyboard. Yes it is not ideal or reasonable for normal use, but there are some times when it would be awesome. Options are always good, even if they are disabled by default. Even a T9 style old school input would be awesome.

I use these two apps:
Mail for Android Wear
And
Messages for Android Wear
They are both replacement apps and are by the same Dev and have tiny keyboards that can be gotten used to!
They also have a web browser that works... well... It works...
I hope this is real. I'd love to have audio notifications on my H Watch.
Just waiting for someone to leak the firmware and confirm its true.
The guy who recieved the update didn't make a system dump before installing the update. This can only be done BEFORE installing. So there is no hope, we will get the update from him. Unless there is another user that copies the update.zip before installing.
On the other hand he won't be the only one to recieve this test build.

This device has an unlocked bootloader and a redily available copy of twrp.
ANY ONE who got that update could distribute it with in just a few minutes...
1. Receive update.
2. Let it apply
3. Unlock bootloader
4. Flash TWRP
5. Back up entire system
6. Post to internet.
But to what you are saying... Yes, it is correct that you can only get the update.zip before install. However see my point about getting the entire deal.
Then anyone could restore his TWRP back up and have whatever it is he has...
Perhaps newer builds of the firmware will be more widely tested soon, and more likely to leak out.....
The thing that's bothering me is that perhaps we might not get this firmware at all, and that it might be for testing features in a new 2016 watch from Huawei.
figures crossed we WILL get a download of this soon
Since we aren't getting this, is it possible to install a custom ROM (possibly based off the software for the ZW2)? There's never been a real need for a custom ROM before since we, and all 1st gen wear devices got all updates. Anyway, does anyone out there know of anything in development?
I was wondering this and was going to look into it once the ZenWatch 2 AW 2.0 system images are available. I honestly like the original ZenWatch style better than the 2 or 3. I still get complements weekly on it.
Agree, would be great to get AW 2.0.
It would really be awesome to get Wear 2.0, yeah.
Someone ported AW 2 to the zw2 from another watches rom since they have the same specs. Maybe the same could be done for the zw1 since it has the same specs as the zw2

Yeah, sorry, it won't be happening, at least not for a while. I was planning on upgrading to a LG watch urbane anyway; so I doubt it.
The real limiting factor is time, because although compiling an AOSP rom from source is relatively easy, or so I've heard, the closed sourced nature of AW makes the whole process a bit muddy.
I know we can download an APK for camera P3 and get the feature but why is it taking so long for Google to release the official features advertised? It's been a month the device has been out now, do we have any official release dates?
Short answer: no one knows
Certainly is ridiculous, you advertise features that don't release with a phone. Between that and the memory issues they can't fix quick enough they wonder why they can't get people from Apple to convert over. Just terrible business...
If they're taking longer to iron out bugs and improve the feature, in my opinion they can take as long as they like.

It's not that big of a deal. It's only been out for 4 weeks. Plus, companies including Apple regularly advertise features that don't get added until after the device launches. The original portrait mode for Apple devices came out months after the phone launched.

Apple users never convert, you should know that. Night mode will not make them either.
If you're simply dying for the feature there is an apk that will install a second app drawer camera with the feature until it's merged into the regular one.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't they say at the Pixel reveal that it would come in November?
