Hello all, I tried searching through some threads but couldn't find anything. I have racings ics build on my phone and I was able to install superuser but for some reason when I try to open root explorer or TB the prompt to allow the apps doesn't show up. I've tried updating superuser and wiping cache and fixing permissions. Has anyone had this problem?

i know this has been answered, but for future - did you check the settings in SuperUser?
there is a way change how/when they appear.
Yeah I checked that and messed atound with the prompt settibg and ut didn't do anything. Flashing the new superuser file provided fixed it though

I have flashed that SuperUser app more than 20 times but it still doesn't install. CWM says installation is successful, but it doesn't pop up.

Have you tried just reflashing the SuperSU update zipfile from Chainfire? Go to the SuperSU thread and download from there. Then flash in recovery.
4.4 needs you to go into settings, developer options and root access.... Change setting in there. Not sure if 4.3 is the same.

I believe I explained this before. Repeating again.
On Slim Rom, go to
1. Settings > About > Tap Build Number 7 times.
2. Go back to Settings then Developer Options. If you don't see Developer Options then repeat Step 1.
3. In Developer Options look for Root Access. Click on it and then choose ADB and Apps.
Go back and then exit. You got Root.

I dont have the root access option. Help?
Use this Google Kingo Root app
1. Let it install driver
2. Let SuperSu keep trying to get access and phone will keep rebooting because of knox
3. Eventually the program is going to try to root thru Odin
4. Download Root Explorer or another file browser who need root access
5. Now go in root and delete
system/app = knox apps
system/container = knox apps
etc/secure-storage = knox folder
libs/ = libKnox
6. When done install SuperSu from the market.
7. Let it update SU.
8. Done!!!!!!!!!!!!! enjoy root, bye bye KNOX
is there going to be the update already rooted??
thanks in advance

well I have no reason to lie about it.
here's exactly what I did.
Downloaded kingo
had to download Dev settings to enable uab debugging cause I couldn't find it on 4.3
enabled USB debugging
installed drivers
restarted once. saw the konx error thing telling me it stopped an unauthorized whatever.
the root permission window came up and I clicked allow and phone retstarted again and I was rooted.
Well your phone ask you if you want to enable usb debugging when trynna use the program. And yea everyone's rooted with knox on there. But knox isn't gonna let you do anything unless you remove it or freeze. It but I'm sure when you find that out nobody's gonna know cause your gonna maintain the fact that your knox is different from ours!!!! But I'm gonna still keep it the same. People need to remove knox period!!!! To avoid the some apps work and some don't conversation

I'll remove all the knox files just in case and thank you for the information. I noticed that Knox isn't enabled in my device manager. just download root master, u can seach"root大师“ by any search engine, can be link to .
u can get rooted your phone 4.3 with in min. after u taking control ,
just following step 4-5
4. Download Root Explorer or another file browser who need root access

Hi,
I just joined the forums this evening. This is my first post.
Basically I want to figure out how to re-root my (2013) Nexus 7 which I just updated to 4.4.2.
I installed 4.4 and had to re-root, of course losing all my settings and apps, having to reinstall and reset everything to my liking.
I have never made a backup.
I just now upgraded to 4.4.2 update, and all my settings and apps are in tact, however, I lost root.
I do not want to re-root and reinstall everything again, so I need help on recovery and steps involved.
I am still unlocked, and I have the TWRP installed as well as SuperSU and RecoveryTools.
Please advise how to make a backup and re-root in the least painful way.
(PS I did use the Wug'sFresh kit to do my rooting the first time around, and am not very comfortable using the SDK etc)
Thanks!

Hi,
It is very frustrating I want to be able to keep all my apps/settings and configurations after root, but I don't know how.
I think there is an app that allows you to keep your root after upgrades, but I haven't really figured out which way to do things.
Any pros out there who can help?
Everything is fine on my tablet right now, just the way I like it BESIDES being unrooted.

have you tried flashing the SuperSU zip in recovery? should be all you need to do to get root back. dont need to lose any data. just re-enable root apps aka grant root permissions when they pop up.

Hi efan3719:
I don't have the zip in my SDcard but SuperSU is installed, but when I tap on it it says I need root access, and when I tap on Recover Tools > flash TWRP it says "need root" as well..
Should I download SuperSU zip latest file version and copy it over to my device and then run it using my file explorer?
Sorry, I may be confusing I'm still learning this stuff.

download SuperSU from here http://download.chainfire.eu/370/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.80.zip, put it on your device. reboot to recovery, flash the supersu zip. reboot. you should now be rooted.
:/
I have the zip file now on my device.
However, when I reboot into recovery TeamWin no longer comes up it goes to dead android character with exclamation point. :/
Try the nexus root toolkit. It makes rooting very easy with great step by step instructions.

I have that program. I used it to do my original unlock and root.
Can I re-root using that without losing my latest update/and settings?
I cannot boot into Recovery Mode to reinstall SuperSU (which I currently have installed on my system but it won't work when I tap on it because it says I require root).
So I cannot install the SuperSu zip I just placed onto my device.
This is confusing.
Okay I used Wugs again and looks like I am re-rooted.

Hi,
basically I had my Nexus 7 (2013) upgraded to KitKat 4.4.2 using the automatic (wi-fi) over the air update.
it installed fine but caused me to lose root. no other information was lost, all my apps and settings were the same, i simply lost root.
when you lose root, you are no longer able to access TWRP during the bootloader startup by going into recover mode. it will show a dead Android character.
so I simply connected my Nexus to my pc and (having Wug's Root Tookit and Nexus 7 drivers already installed from my first time rooting) I selected (from Wug's drop down menu - when Wug's program starts up) my build and version.. then it did it's magic and downloaded the pertinent files. (of course you need to have USB DeBugging checked in settings > developer options or whatever..
then i selected Root option and 'install custom recover' check box as well.. and let it do its thing.
TWRP started up automatically during reboot, and did the root.. then my Nexus was all good again, all apps and data in tact, with root. all good.
Hope that helps.
Excellent sharing. I have the same issue after upgrading to 4.4.2 via OTA

Saved the trouble (with my stock recovery) to temperary 'boot' TWRP via Adb fastboot and Usb-cable to reflash SuperSu.
Yes you should just be able to use WuGFresh's nexus root toolkit to update n7 4.4.2 update
The app won't have a 4.4.2 option but you can just select root any version and it will still be able to root your n7 running 4.4.2

Hi,
First reboot phone once and see if subscription nag pops up again, if so see below:
Do me a favor (I would appreciate it) Click restore via HFA, let the phone reboot and finish HFA(you won't lose any data promise)
With a file explorer navigate to data/data/com.android.porviders.telephony/databases/telephony.db
pm me this file or post it here (no unique data in it so no worries)
I will get you all sorted out.
Thanks

It absolutely did with TDunham's DeOdexed version.
Obtained root using tdunham [STOCK ROM][4.4.4] NK4 Kitkat ROM DeOdexed. Followed all the instructions on that thread. Im using TWRP recovery.
Downloaded Galaxy Tools from the play store. Says Galaxy Tools v2.2.0. su: Using: 2.13:SUPERSU
I click on "Enable Native Hotspot" and the phone restarts. I go back into the GT app and click on Wifi Hotspot settings and turn the hotspot on. Everytime I do this I get a pop up that says I am not subscribed.
I have uninstalled the GT app and reinstalled. Cleared all data for SU app. No matter what I do I always get the pop up saying I am not subscribed.
Any suggestion?
