Okay, this weekend, on a Friday, I drove to DC. As soon as navigation started on my Nexus 6, my watch started to display the navigation notifications. I quickly blocked the app, as I didn't want the 3+ hours of navigation to drain my watch.
2.5 hours into the trip, I look at my watch's battery, and it's down to 30%!!! I started the trip at about 90%. Not happy, very scared about running out of power. Figure out it's a bug, or whatever, and I factory reset that night.
During the weekend, while I'm in DC, I notice that it is not the normal battery life, despite a factory reset Friday night.
On the way home, Sunday, I noticed a huge drain as well. Not wanting to lose any more power, I turn it on AIRPLANE MODE when at 47%.
HERE'S WHERE IT GETS INTERESTING.
I get a notification that says something like "Maps Navigation App stopped." I don't remember the exact phrasing.
However, this leads me to believe that I was experiencing the battery drain because while I was blocking the Maps app, it was still running on my watch! What's up with that? I thought it totally stopped the app.
Am I correct? Does a blocked app still run while the watch despite being blocked?
IF so... how do I "fix" this? Is that possible?
Or, was something else draining my battery?

Okay, from another thread I was discussing on Android Central, another user found that Maps and probably other apps weren't totally OFF when the Notification was set to be BLOCKED. Meaning, even though you are Blocking a certain app, it appears that it is still running in the background of the watch, and that is leading to huge drains.
Anybody take any road trips or commuting with their moto360 and using Google Maps notice this?

I have this exact same issue. I use navigation a few days a week. I'm a new Moto 360 owner, so I thought it was just other battery issues. But it isn't. Its Navigation. Once I start navigation, by battery plummets. I can't stop it. Then the battery usage says that Bluetooth uses the most battery. So I am gonna keep trying different things. Don't factory reset your phone. It doesn't help. Resetting the watch doesn't help either. I think its an issue with Android 5.0.2. But that's a guess. What else can it be?

THanks for your input, sorry I never replied. I didn't see the notifications.
ANYWAYS, I started a thread here as well...

It seems it is NOT just a Moto 360 problem, but an ANDROID WEAR problem!?
WHOA. Can anyone else confirm this? If so, if this is an Android Wear problem... does Google know? And how do we let them know?
I have this issue. I drove 3 hours with Google maps navigation today and my watch was dead upon arrival. It was at 95% when I left.

Mine also died again after three hours of driving yesterday, and this is with the latest Android Wear update (on the phone). When I tried to charge it, I got constant Google app and Android Wear crashes. I was finally able to reset the watch to get it back to working.

Mine charged back up without an issue but Maps definitely kills the watch even with notifications blocked.

Thanks everybody. Send in a bug report through the Android wear app.
Does anybody have they latest update on their watch? 5.1.1?

Mine has charged up normally before too, in fact it did last night. The one time it didn't was pretty scary though.

I'd like to know if this is fixed in 5.1.1 too. I'll ask in the Urbane section.

Yeah, they took out Restart for some reason, and Factory Reset is now "Unpair from phone."
Guys, my watch when i do unpair its not reseting no idea why, it turs off, do you have to have any percentage minimum to do a reset?

Yes, there is a minimum battery required before it will do a reset. Cant remember what it is, maybe 50% or higher.
Sorry, a bit slow in reply
So, to try and fix my 1 hour battery life from 100% to 0%, I am trying to reset this...yet again. When I go to do this as per the instructions in this thread, the watch just reboots and doesn't factory reset. Suggestions? Or is this thing trash now?

Needs to be nearly fully charged to reset. Try fully charging it and do the reset while on the charger. You can press and hold the button to bring up settings screen while on the charger.
Lol it drains at a rate of several percent per minute. Finally got it to reset after a third try, still does the same battery drain stuff. Throwing it in the trash as it simply does not work anymore. I will revisit Android Wear when it has matured.

Dont throw it away, give it to someone on here to modify. If its stuck down to a small qi charger, it could be used as a notifications device in a car or motorbike for example.
Well, if anyone wants to buy it, PM me.
Hi Everyone
my phone on stock , no root , lock bootloader and latest OST update.
I faced problem couple days ago. First, I put my phone on the charger then after 5 min my phone is not charging at all. So I unplug and plug again and start to charge. After 10 mins there was an error on battery with red X and show me this" you don't use supported charger". After that, I put my phone on the charger but there is not "Charging Rapidly" only "Charging". Then I noticed Android OS draining battery. I did 3 factory reset with airplane mode and still Android OS draining.
So there is any solution for this problem.
shutdown phone and start again. if it's not fixed, either factory reset or delete cache, eventually even data for every google service/app and restart again

the thing is, it is no a problem with the phone, can happen to any phone with android. you can try to ask HTC support..or google for android OS battery drain.

Just lighten the load, are you still experiencing the same drain with no additional apps installed..
Factory wipes will only offer you a clean slate, it's not a fix..
Be careful what you install, if you've got tonnes of social media apps running all the time and loads of widgets then your phones battery is going to suffer.. Lighten the load, avoid using connectivity options if they're not in use.
BT, wifi, GPS, even 4G. Auto brightness, double tap to wake. Any or all of these things can affect battery life.
if you have another QC 3.0 charger then test if if can use rapid charge, if not you better return the phone + charger, I see so many user with charger fail, and other had the usb port start to fail.
for reference, my HTC 10, wifi always on it will consume about 0.6% per hr in idle, I use a app call battery log to monitor the usage.

To be completely honest, with vanilla android, there so little difference, it'll never slow down and will stand the test of time, even the Nexus 5 still looks amazing and runs just as good as any phone today.
Sure with gaming you'll see a hit but if that's not a problem then you really don't need to worry.
Both phones will work as you'd expect, both a bit too big for me though, i've had my share of phablets and i think 5" is about the sweet spot.
I've got big hands but i prefer something i can get to the top of with my thumb within one hand.
Enjoy your OP3 If they put that into a 5 or a 5.2 inch phone then i'd be all over it, unfortunately it's just over what i'd say is too big for a phone, pop a decent case on it and it's just grew another half inch
i'm sorry about bring back to life this old topic, but i'm facing exacly the same problem of a2fast. And i don't want to do like him and sell the phone
Just After i updated to Nougat by RUU.exe method, my phone show an error of charging, just like a2fast, after that my battery is draining very very fast, about 15-20% at hour, i did all the steps described here, including install new firmwares, a lot of hard resets, disable everything, and nothing solves.
I thinking about downgrade to marshmallow again, but i'm S-ON and i don't know how to do it
Any tips please?

In my experience so far Android Pie is giving a little bit worse battery life. I might try a factory reset when I have time.
Also upsetting to see yet another update to provide less battery stats than previous versions. Now there is no place that says how long since the last full charge. Very annoying. Total uptime is also gone now.
P Battery life seems a bit better for me so far...on Stock.

I'm getting significantly worse battery life. I wiped after updating to Pie as well.
I changed nothing in my usage.
mine so far has been worse, especially compared to the DP builds.
now worse is relative, it seems in no way bad for my usage, but is a noticeable difference in my usage.
standby time seems to be the same, its actual screen on usage for me that is noticeably different.

Me too, battery is much worse than 8.1 July update, one hour screen time was 8% now about 14% every 3 hours off drain was around 1% now is every hour.
My usage is the same, I use to charge the phone once every 2 days and rarely I go below 20%.
Since I got the phone last October, never rooted and never reset it the phone, and I have every monthly update installed
Google play services seems to drain my battery a lot when I'm using data...it works fine on wifi. Can someone have a look at the screenshots and help me understand what is causing so much battery drain?
Google play service is eating your battery.
Factory reset I think it will solve your problem.
Or try clearing cache/data for google play services first as well as play store. Might save your from a FDR and data wipe.
Or, if your rooted you could try a couple of magisk modules to keep GPS in check :good:

Factory reset did not help..I had this same issue on Oreo. I performed a clean install of Android pie and still face the issue...tried clearing cache and data as well but no use. It only happens when I'm connected to mobile data.
Is there anything else I could try based on the screenshots of better battery stats?

About the only thing I can think of is to root again and use the magisk modules. You may also look to see if mobile data always active, and tethering hardware acceleration are both turned off under developer options.
Do you have any syncing options set to mobile data? Just a thought. I put everything to WiFi only.
