Tried to use odin to downgrade att note 4 5.0.1 to 4.4 kitkat, and now I'm stuck with a message saying firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again. I tried to follow those instructions and Kies doesn't recognize my device. Is the only thing left to do is take it back to AT&T, or can I possibly find the 5.0.1 firmware it was running and make it work again.
Same situation here i wanted to help my brother and now this i think it cant reconigze it because mine was on ADB Mode so now i cant change that because cant go into the recovery settings i need the phone ill pay someone if needed!
U can't downgrade from oc5 LP. I did the same and had to take phone to att warranty exchange. I blamed it on there firmware update.

Guess I gotta take it back to AT&T. The next update for our Note 4 probably won't come until next month because AT&T is always really slow with updates.
I do not have ATT Warranty because i bought it from craigslist, now it has boot loop :/ i tried factory reset with no luck

You can check warranty on your phone here :http://www.samsungwarrantycheck.com/ . BTW note 4 was released on October 14 2014. Go to at&t and tell them that was gift and they can not find receipt but phone is not even one year old. You can check warranty status and show them print out from page i post it.
It says it still has LImited warranty (not manufacturer warranty) so can i go to ATT Store?

i have the same problem with my n910a note 4 download mode and recovery work fine whene i flash rom with odin it pass but the phone loop after app optimzing

I tried to put i9300 android 4.1.1. on my Att i747 sg3 and now I can't start the phone.
I was trying to upgrade the android version whole day, because I can't upgrade it through my phone when I check for upgrades.
The thing is I'm in europe and my phone of course we don't have a att carrier here, so it's not finding an update.
So in the end I tried to use mobile odin Lite, and put on i9300 version on it, so now it's not working.
When I try to start it shows me SAMSUNG and after that it turns off.
I hope someone has an idea how to fix it through my laptop ;/

Well try this... open in download mode.... which is volume down key-power button and home button..... download odin ffor pc.... and latest firmware deom sammobile.com
Steps.
1.do not connect fone yet. Download odin and read instructions. Which as far as i remember was attacthing the frimware file to pda... then coonect fone in download mode as mentioned above... and flash that furmware.. should be fine..:thumbup:

This isn't necessarily true.
He specifically stated he could see the Samsung logo which means it is not a hard brick.
OP please report back if you are able to enter Download mode.

Check the definition of hard brick, cause you have obviously missed something in that particular explanation.
Can you get into recovery with power,home, and vol up?
If it opens in download.... it is never bricked or if stuck on samsung logo not bricked... just open download mode and flash stock rom via pc odin

Okay guys, youre my last hope, its now 8am and ive been at ths since 6pm yesterday evening and im on the verge of tears!
Got a preowned Galaxy Note 2 yesterday afternoon, the owner showed me it working on a 3 sim so I know its working and I know the IMEI isnt blacklisted.
Got it home, put my 3 sim in, all working fine. Then I realised it was running a slightly older version of android than my old phone. Couldnt update over wifi, kies wouldnt let me update, checked the phone status and it said 'modified'.
So me being me, impatient and all that, I used Odin to update it to androinf 4.1.2. Ever since then, its been showing emergency calls only.
Here's a quick rundown of what I've tried;
- rooting the phone
- put 4 different roms on it
- put the stock firmware on
- put a rom on for the modem (which had switced to an invalid IMEI number somewhere along the line but is now fixed)
- factory reset
- toggle plane mode
- sim in, sim out, sim in, sim out...
- checked my sim in my old phone - working perfectly
I cant think of whay else ive done. Ive been at this for 14 hours straight now.
Basicslly, I know the phone was fine when I got it. Ive done something to it, and I cant for the life of me figure out what ive done.
The only thing I can think is its the files ive read so much about, EFS files or something like that... I didnt take a back up of them before my impatient attempt at upgrading to android 4.1.2...
Can someone please help me? I think ive read every post on this site about this issue and nothing mentioned seems to work for me! Im literally on the brink of tears cuz I just want to play with my gorgeous Note 2!

XDA has a thread containing links to download modems for your phone... do a Google search. Download, then use odin and flash.

Don't panic, kies just sucks. Use odin to repair Your phone, best if You change Your ROM too as rooting isn't enough anymore (knox is there).

Just use Odin to flash a rom........... Usually beginners should not mess with the bootloader

Correct , that's what happened to me before when 5.0.2 stock flashed after unlocking. but I managed to flash stock recovery and stock rom successfully after
Now it's completely unsuccessful
what possibly could be the solution for this case?
I too had my phone get IMEI repaired! my problem is way more complicated now, because I nand erased my phone via odin. what was thinking... I came from HTC One m8 and I gotta tell you it is MUCH MUCH easier to unlock, root, change MID, change CID, install different ROMs... it's a nightmare messing with Samsung phones. I guess I learned my lesson.

nand erase option in new samsung devices only deletes data partititon and system too..I've tested but like I said if your efs has been tampered with..5.1.1 will send your phone to the grave.
Would going to T-Mobile store help, was talking last week with my local tmo store manager about rooting and custom roms and asked if they had any program in store to troubleshoot issues and his answer was yes.
Maybe there in store diagnostic can bring these phones back to life.
If enough tinkerers like XDA flashaholics show up at T-Mobile stores with the mystery 5.1.1 syndrome they may just start replacing phones in store.
Its worth a shot.

If you're under tmobile you can try to get a replacement.. If your warranty is void and you send it to samsung they will just laugh at you. If phone is looping and warranty is still good then you're gold

Hey guys, I was trying to gain root on my New Note 7 With this method( http: //androiding.how/root-verizon-note-7-ph3-userdebug-firmware ) I get to the point where i flash the sprint firmware and it fails with Odin and now i cant boot my phone. Trying to figure out if there is a way to fix this or if i'm just screwed.
Comes up with a dead android with an exclamation point above him when i try to boot and I it won't let me do a factory restore.
Check out tje Verizon phone repair desktop app. You put the device in download mode and it resets it. Bricked mine 3 times and that always works

Thanks bud, However i was able to repair it by finding the original firmware i had and flashed it with odin and it worked! PHEW! I'll keep this in mind for next time as well! Thanks!

I believe this will leave your phone updated to the latest firmware which means no root. You can always reflash your current version firmware with Odin to repair boot issues. You only have issues when trying to flash down to a previous version. See this post:
