So...the latest update (the one with interactive watch faces) broke theater mode for me. I turn it on but it doesn't actually work. It appears to turn itself off. Anyone else notice this? How do I fix it?
Check if you can wake the watch by touching the screen.
It's not that it is broken but, when you press the power button it automatically turns it off. But not pressing the button you shouldn't be able to wake up the screen...

So...
-I turn theater mode on.
-At some point later I start getting notifications on my watch.
-Moving my arm wakes it up.
-Theater mode appears to be turned off mysteriously when I go to turn it on.
I can report the same issue. Theather mode is completely broken for me as well. Turns itself off all the the time. I'm also noticing random artifacts on the screen, this update seems pretty buggy.
I had a problem with it before the update. after a restart it would turn the mode off. after the update its worse.

I am seeing artifacts too. When I swipe down from the top with the watch showing, when the battery % fades out there is an artifact right of the %.

I also have had the same problem with cinema/theater mode since updating to Android Wear 1.3. When I activate it and then later press the home button, it then deactivates and automatically turns off cinema mode. Today I raised this issue and wrote to Motorola hoping for a response soon.
Yes, its broken. I turn the Theater mode on. At some point when I press the power button to wake the device for a quick glance, theater mode is off.
The most common use case to conserve battery in Moto 360 was to keep it in Theater mode during regular day. While in Theater mode single press turned screen on momentarily for a quick glance. Then it went back to theater mode automatically. This no longer works. Single press now turns Theater mode off instead of just turning screen on momentarily.
Just checked the issue!
I don't want to manually set Cinema Mode ON after checking notifications.
Update = Fail
Broken on my watch too...
The marshmallow update for the moto 360 comes, again, with broken theater mode. Anyone else having this issue?
People who have updated their watch to 6.0.1, probably noticed that it is impossible now to turn off the display function "Theater Mode" during charging. I found a way:
- Turn on "Developer options" (by repeatedly pressing the build number in the information)
- select "Options Wear for a programmer"
- leater Turn on "Force protection against firing"
From the moment you turn on "theater mode", eg by double depressing side button, the screen during charging blank, as was the case for 5.1.1.
There sugerujcie a message about the "Introduction of amendments to restart." It's probably a mistake translate (should rather be "to restart"). Restart, not only that it does not change, but also removes the "Developer options" and you have to call them again.
Sorry bad my engish
Theater mode while charging still works the same for me on 6.0.1 as it did on 5.1.1. I double press the side button and theater mode is enabled until I press the side button to enable regular display mode.
Me after a while, you turn on ambient mode

Hi
I am not able to get the device to go into sleep mode (blank display) by touching the power button unless its at the lock screen. Depressing the power button does nothing, other than to activate the quick menu unless pressed for a few seconds. The only time I am able to get the device to sleep via the power button is when the screen has timed out (based on settings) and before the screen in unlocked, otherwise I just have to wait for the screen to timeout.
I cant seem to find anything that would prevent the device going to sleep via the power off button, any suggestions?
Does this happen all the time or only while the phone is charging, as there is a setting that keeps the screen awake while the phone is charging:
Settings>Applications>Development
happens all the time, and I am aware of the stay awake feature during charging
If you're using a custom rom it may have something to do with that. Maybe the key isn't mapped or set correctly. Other then that, that's a pretty odd issues.

Sounds like some buggy program is keeping a wake_lock longer than it should. (The way games and ebook readers keep the screen lit/phone awake).
Had you installed anything new before this started?
I'm stuck in Airplane mode but I never even turned it on. If I uncheck it, it sits greyed out at Enabling wireless connections... HELP!
This might sound stupid, but have you tried restarting the phone? Sometimes when I lose signal and can't get it back I try switching to Airplane, but it just sits there... then when I restart, Airplane Mode is on.
I'm thinking something locked up, but I'm not knowledgeable enough to know.
I know that's not your exact problem, but I figured it might be related. :x
Press the on/off button and hold it down. after a few seconds you will see several options, one is airplane mode..it will indicate on or off. To change it just tap on the screen over the message. release the button and press the arrow key at the bottom of the phone to return to the regular screen
Try the steps above, if not pull the battery and see if it's still enabled after it boots.
Hi all,
does anyone sometimes have to press the power button (when phone is completely turned off) twice (2 presses to turn on) sometimes?...
so just to confirm
- handset is off
- push power button once (sometimes doesnt come on
- push for second time (and powers up)
im defiantly pushing for long enough
iv have no issues with the button at all when in the UI or when locking/unlocking display
iv done a few tests where i have turned off. then went to switch on, with the same pressure and sometimes it starts with one, sometimes it starts with two presses,
do u think this is a fault? anyone experience this? normal?
just checking...
thanks heaps!
I had the opposite on my first one. When I pressed the power button to turn screen off, the screen went black for 1 sec and jumped back on lock screen.

I don't think many people would turn their phone completely off so haven't found the issue.
When you power off what will be happening is the phone is off as much as it can be, but these buttons are soft off, the battery is still connected and some power must be drawn to run the power circuitry to detect the button being pressed again to signal to power back up the phone, in the same way when you turn your TV off by the remote, power is still drawn to run the remote sensor on the TV.
To keep the drain on the battery as low as possible so the battery isn't completely discharged over months of storage I suspect the power chip waiting for the on signal again is only sampling every so often to save power so it can be in super deep sleep state. This means depending on where in this cycle you are when you press the power button it might seem like it isn't responding, so typically you have to leave it depressed long enough for it to be "seen".
The better option is to just to put your phone into flight mode if you don't want to be disturbed or want the phone off. I do this overnight and lose no battery power by the morning, so it is as good as off. You can add a button to your home screen to do this quickly, widgets are included already for that.
Regards
Phil
Mine does the same thing.. Sometimes it does it with waking up from sleep also.

The current android wear version for the moto 360 has caused this theatre mode bug where it turns off immediately after using the power button to turn on the screen. You'll have to go back to the settings to turn it on again for it to work so that's quite annoying, unless you use the double press power button that isn't that reliable. Anyone found a fix for this or does not face this issue care to share valuable information on this?
Same issue i think it is stupid that when you press the power button it turns off theater mode.
I am also getting the same problem. Which version are you both on? I am on 1.3.0.2166028
I guess the tablet isn't actually powering down, it's just going into sleep mode, or whatever it's called when the screen shuts off. Anyway, is there a way to keep this from happening when the tablet is plugged into the wall charger? It isn't a major deal but it is sort of annoying when I have something large downloading or have the tablet otherwise doing something on its own, but I'm not actively using it. I like to walk by occasionally and check in on things, but will often find that the tablet has shut off. Then I have to turn it back on, swipe the screen, or login if I have security on. Anyway, it would be much nicer if it would just stay on when plugged in. I've looked through the settings and can't seem to find anything related. If it's there, I'm missing it.
Thanks.
There are different between shut off and standby (sleep mode):
1- Shut off: Your tablet is shutdown, the only way to turn it on is power button.
2- Standby: the screen is off, you just need to press power or home button to turn the screen on in 2 seconds. In order to prevent the screen turn off so quickly, you only need to change the screen timeout to 10 or 30 minutes. If it turns off by itself, your tablet has a problem.
Mine can standby a whole week and it only loses a little charge when waking up.

There is no 30 minute screen timeout on my Galaxy Tab S 10.5. The most I can set it to is 10 minutes, and that's where it's at.
Thanks anyway.

we call that a screen time out... you can activate the stay awake while charging feature in developer option... how to activate developer option.... go to setting -> about device -> and press the Build Number 7 times. you will see something like developer option activate. then find the stay awake while charging option. that's all. :victory:
