Does anyone think it is possible or likely that LG will allow unlocking the bootloader on Verizon/ATT/Sprint variants of the G4. They have already released a method for doing it on the European model. Any insight is appreciated
It's up to the carrier, and they all are pretty picky so it's doubtful.
I want an unlocked bootloader for my H815T, but with zero information from LG I have no idea if that will ever happen.
Do we know if anyone is working on an unofficial unlocked bootloader or workaround?
Has a US/Canadian carrier EVER unlocked a bootloader on any phone?

Tmobile is the only US carrier that does not lock bootloaders on all devices. Sprint seems like they can or can't make up their mind. Verizon has locked bootloaders forever it seems and AT&T just started it the year the Galaxy S4 came out. The GS3/Note 2 were the last AT&T Samsung devices with no locked bootloader.

HTC always leaves bootloader unlockable on AT&T (unless something changed) it was like this up until my m7 at least but I'm pretty sure all of them can be. Other than that... nope

I read somewhere on google that the T-Mobile version was going to come factory unlocked. Can anyone comment?
When where ? Can you add the link

You mean the bootloader is factory unlocked? If so, then yes, it is.

The bootloader is unlocked on T-Mobile
I find it odd that the key was already turned. Normally they have the door locked but give you the key to use if you so choose. Honestly the way this phone came out without any kind of safety for the boot partitions is asking for a malicious app/virus to brick phones. Unless purple Drake did the factory unlock but I don't think they stated that.

No they stated that when they were exploring root and unlock methods they were surprised to find out that the Tmo version was already unlocked... I would think that raises the chances that LG releases a key to unlock other variants as well? ... other than at&t and Verizon that is...

Yeah and you know this might sound silly but I wonder if anyone has tried the normal unlock commands in fastboot for the other phones. Development isn't booming like on samsung or htc phones so you never know. Pretty sure somebody out there has tried I mean somebody had to right? Maybe Ill try to lock my bootloader in fastboot and see what happens. I would like to have it locked when I'm not modding that's just good practice.
*Edit
locked bootloaders and encrypted bootloaders are different just wanted to make sure everyone reading this that didn't know that now knows.
As always people keep getting confused between sim unlock and bootloader unlock.

Can confirm. Got T-mo G3 with out knowing. Feels like I won the lotto.
The D851 variant ships with an unlocked bootloader, but SIM-locked to T-Mobile. Just to make it 100% clear.

I was able to sim unlock my G3 for like $3...there are several posts in the forums with similar success stories.
I used unlockcode247 and it worked like a charm. I got the code in under 15 minutes. $2. Can't go wrong.
I bought mine straight from Samsung.com Verizon variant, will I be able to have them unlock the bootloader? And if not that unlocked Version they're about to release, will it have an unlocked bootloader?
? ? ?
Ummmm.... That's a negative, chief.

The Verizon variant bootloader might not be unlocked any time soon if at all but there is always hope as it's been done before on other Verizon Galaxy variants. The unlocked one, the world variant, will does have an unlocked bootloader and even root but there may be some issues getting it to work with USA carriers fi you're trying to buy one and use it here.

Was there actually a BOGO?
I've got my eyes on a unlocked Verizon pixel 3 XL that's unlocked. How deep is Verizon's software in the pixel and would it even be possible to fully convert it to a regular Google pixel?

If the bootloader is unlocked I don't see any reason you can't use the non verizon firmware on it. The devices themselves are identical, just the firmware is different. Note that I have not done this so you're at your own risk.

As far as I know it's sim unlocked. If that's unlocked, bootloader should be unlockable as well right? Or how does the process go on the pixel?
On 6T it's you get a sim unlock, then you send a request application, once approved they send you a .bin to unlock the bootloader thru fastboot

No, sim and bootloader are two different things. You'd need the bootloader unlocked to flash the regular Google pixel firmware. Sim unlock just allows you to use the phone on different carriers.

I understand the difference so In another words the bootloader is not unlockable on the Verizon one and there is no process for once it's sim unlocked like it is on the Oneplus 6T (where sim unlock is required in order to unlock bootloader)

No you will not be able to unlock the bootloader on the Verizon variant weather it is sim unlocked or not. However you can uninstall all the pre loaded Verizon apps. I had the Verizon model and was able to uninstall all the bloat. The only difference is the bootloader and being able to root.

Correct, you might want to check this thread out. It is being looked in to but doesn't look all that promising.

I've read thru it, I mean someone will crack it sooner or later. Some fine folks brainstorming it. Wish it was as simple as on the one plus, you just wait 7 days and you're unlocked.
Is there a difference in model number or something on the box itself?

I know, was trying to make sure the one I was getting on eBay was infact a Google one. Apparently there's a major difference in the label. Same model number etc. However there's a lot more writing on it. Mention of imported by Google Canada which isn't present on the Verizon one.
Do the Canadian variants of the S20 (ending with W) have an unlockable bootloader?
Can anyone with a Canadian device check if OEM Unlock is available in the Development Options?
The A505W does have an unlockable bootloader, so I was wondering..
Thanks!
Dream on, its locked. Every north american snapdragon samsung phone is locked, that a505w is an exynos so its unlocked.

I just upgraded from the s7edge which I went back to after not being able to root the s8, so I haven't really followed any of the phones after that, but will there be away to unlock the bootloader found eventually, or is this just the way it is ?

If it follows the same pattern of S8, S9, S9 and the Notes - then never.
You can always try and see if its unlockable by going into the Developer Options, check to see if OEM unlock is available. If it's there it may be unlockable.

Not to sound like a ****, but if the option was there I wouldn't be here. I just started reading into the last couple models that didn't have the oem unlock option under the developer options and I'm starting to think that the outlook isn't so good. I should have done a bit of research and maybe tried to get my carrier to grab me a phone from elsewhere and bring it in for me. Just happy I kept the s7 edge, give me something to play around with while I wait for whatever comes next I guess.
Is it possible to flash stock firmware from one of the variants that does have the oem unlock option to the phone ?

That wont do anything.
Purchased a Samsung SM-T807A (AT&T) Galaxy Tab S 10.5" off of Facebook Marketplace and just assumed that I would be able to install a custom recovery and rom, but apparently it has not had its bootloader unlocked.
Is there a team that I could donate money or resources to in order to hack up a bootloader unlock for this device? Or is it basically just another paperweight since it will no longer be able to receive updates.
Isn't it ATT that locks the bootloader?
Bootloader lock was introduced with the Galaxy S5 and this tablet is probably older than the S5 since mine didn't have a bootloader lock
