Back in the day a lot of Android phones can send video line out via the headphone jack, is this still a thing? Specifically with the G4?
If yes, how do I do it?
I know you can do it w/a micro usb to hdmi cable.
Not over the headphone port, no. But you can via the microUSB port using a SlimPort: http://www.slimportconnect.com/mobile-gaming-micro-usb-to-hdmi-vga/
What I really need is video out to RCA

Use the SlimPort then go VGA > RCA.
there might be a better way to get video where you want it.. in the car on the dash?
this is wireless and works like a chromecast http://www.amazon.com/Axxess-Mobility-AX-MLINK-Mirror-Interface/dp/B00POY9LRK
or this to go hdmi to rca after the slimport
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00LU...rds=ishd01&dpPl=1&dpID=41R4w-9NCQL&ref=plSrch
you cant just get composite video output, not without some kind of digital to analog conversion. the phone only outputs in digital video format. the composite rca's (red white yellow) are analog

Or you have an idea if this or any other projector will work ?
Thanks
so no one has used a projector with SGS II?
PS: anyway the 24 euro offer for the pico projector form expansys si gone....
My guess is that it wouldn't work without some extra hardware or software. Looks like the projector takes its video input through mini-USB or composite. That's a bit of a problem because the SGS2's video out is MHL or HDMI. So you'd need a way to translate the SGS2's output to something the projector could understand.
Something like the Optoma PK-201, which has a HDMI input, should do the trick.
Worth checking out some reviews for these LED projectors first. I saw an offer for one the other day - around £15 or €17 but reviews suggest that it can't be seen properly even if you're in a room with all the blinds closed.
looking at several different ones at amazon.com pretty much same design just curious if any1 has tried these or have one that u can recommend; because i need to buy the hdmi cable then a hdmi to component cable..
then i can watch netflix upstairs in my room 8^) or anywhere else in the house for that matter..i went ahead and also ordered a hdmi to rca adapter..just incase my kids wanna watch it in their room.. total came to little over $25

HDMI to Component Cable
HDMI to RCA Cable
I bought one of these, works really well. (They accidentally sent me two lol) http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-ORINIGA...ccessories&hash=item1e6e0da90a#ht_4523wt_1163
I know it's from China, but I haven't had any issues with it at all and I had it for a while.
says hdmi to rca, but that cable looks kinda like usb to me
I have ARC S and I satisfied with it in every way almost. Almost because the passage of headphones.
Because of the combination of his old headphones (OMTP) any quality with a microphone headset not working on it. For example BEATS SKULL etc. ..
Because they all work the latest technologies that CTIA.
So I wanted to know. If I replace the headphone jack of the phone itself. Sony's connection to connect another method CTIA Does it work? Or should be more any material change?
Trick can be so simple and it will work?
??
Here.
The CTIA Technology differs of the other one just what the mic and ground is inverted, like this image can display.
Actually SE make an adapter to do this convertion.
More info in google, XDA doesn't let me post outside links =/
You can give it a try and try to do it by yourself, with a female jack with quadpolar and a male jack same quadpolar.
Greetings and succes!
Here's an adapter

I have an MHL adapter with the microUSB 5 to 11 pin adapter. It worked perfectly fine on my Note 2 a few months ago.
However on the Note 3, it says "HDMI cable connected" but my monitor displays no signal. (The monitor is fine; I use other HDMI devices on it).
My phone is rooted but there are no major modifications that might affect HDMI out.
Here is my MHL adapter + 5 to 11pin adapter.

I have the same type of adapter and it seems that I can only use it on 2 of the 3 tvs. it seems the way the note 3 sends the video at a funky refresh rate for my living room tv...(a cheap APEX) you may want to try a few different tvs and see if it's the tv. I can vouch and say the 11 pin connector works for me on my note 3. Running latest wicked with saber 5.2

I have an Element Electronics lcd tv that it doesn't work on either.
Anyone get a good slimport adapter?
Going to be at a hotel this week would love since mhl love
Bump
Hey,
I had a play with my SlimPort adaptor today, works a treat with the G4. Nice refresh rate too. I have the Kanex one. You can get it from amazon, ebay and from Kanex themselves at KanexLive.com.
Nice slim form factor too. Works without external power but also has a micro USB port for charging as well. My only unknown is whether it will support USB OTG as well using that port - I don't think Slimport supports that so probably a no, but I'll have a play later and let you know.
Cheers,
NJ
UPDATE: USB OTG doesn't work, if you wanna use it as a workstation you'll need a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse
I have bought 2 on eBay, didn't have problems with either but the sellers no longer have them. Items 181322353837 and 311183296532.
