Hello,
I'm having issues with my M8 after a ROM install went south. I have an HTC M8 on Rogers, SuperCID, Rooted and S-OFF. The ROM I was using (CandyROM) locked up requiring a hard boot. After the hard boot it wouldn't go past the boot screen. I decided to reflash (dirty) and so my dire issues began.
First reboot > no change hung on bootscreen
-reboot into recovery > Factory Reset > reinstall ROM > booted directly to desktop > no-wifi no data connection
-at this time started getting write errors to DATA and unable to mount storage red errors in TWRP
-WIPE DATA > install ROM > boots to activation but after choosing country no cellular activation screen just goes to WIFI > cannot connect
-try this for hours FINALLY get a cellular screen at activation but cannot to the service "at this time" (no outages) > finish activation, go to bed very sleepy man.
-Wake up all apps reinstalled but now the data connection just turns on for a sec then off for a few then on and off and soo on.
-Flash RUU > no change.
-try a wipe and activate again but now I am back to the red data errors in TWRP and the device boots right to the homescreen not even an option to activate. (using the latest Banks GAPPS as well)
-I have tried flashing with and without GAPPS and now will try another rom.
Please help, how the heck do I get this thing back up and running, been flashing for years and have never had this much frustrations. Please let me know if there is info you need I have missed.
TIA.

I am having a big problem with my GIO. I flashed Enhanced236 and whenever i want to connect to my wireless or switch to phone data, i always have to restart to make them work.
For wireless : If i had data on and when i got home, i have wireless router, so i can disable data. But, when i do that, i get the same message over and over again : Obtaining ip from ...
For data : If i had wireless on, i can`t switch to data. The phone option says it`s on, but it actually isn`t...
And another thing : when i enable Airplane mode, it does nothing --> actually it does, it turns off my wireless, and after i turn Airplane mode off, i can`t call anyone...and it doesn`t end the call
It`s driving me crazy !!!
Please help me, especially coccolino_dbro (maybe u can pm your Y!M id - i am from Romania too)
I can't reproduce any of these behaviours; all works fine here, including calling after I had Airplane mode activated. Have you formatted & wiped data during installation? Also, if you have formatted, did you by any chance restored some apps & settings with Titanium?
You can try to do a wipe data/factory reset in CWM and see if that fixes it.
It's common when you flash new custom ROM, to do a wipe data/factory default in CWM. Some ROM does not need that (for example SGS2 port), but more preferred that you do
do you activate airplane mode from notification bar or from setting menu?
I always do a factory reset, wipe cache partition, wipe dalvik before i install a new rom. I usually use Titanium Backup, but that was the first time i`ve flashed your rom, but the second time (after i`ve did factory reset, etc) i didn`t install TB and tried to activate wireless the first time it started (usually when u first start your phone, data is on), but the wireless didn`t start...stuck at obtaining ip. After a quick restart, all worked fine with the wifi, but when i left home and tried to deactivate wifi and switch to data, data wouldn`t connect....it said that it is on, but when i tried to browse or use Google Play, connection error.
Let me show you what i did :
1. i downloaded your rom.
2. i formated my ext to be ext4
3. i did a factory reset, wipe cache partition, wipe dalvik from recovery (CWM)
4. i flashed your rom (tried the full installation)
5. i did a factory reset, wipe cache partition, wipe dalvik from recovery (CWM)
6. the phone started, tried what i said before...
PS : i activated the airplane mode in notification bar with wireless on, and all it did was disable wireless, the signal bar was still at 4 lines and i couldn`t call
That's the order of how things happened:
1. Everything was perfect until MM
2. Battery drained fast as hell
3. I rooted my device
4. I installed TWRP
5. I flashed SuperSu
6. Got into bootloop
7. I wiped and flashed stock ROM
Now I can't connect to WiFi or Bluetooth. The WiFi symbol keeps flashing and says "can't find Wifi connections, please check mobile data". When I go into settings it sometimes freezes and sometimes crushes. I tried flashing the ROM again but even in the first screen [where you choose the language, name of the phone etc] when I get to the connection section it's just plain white like it got stuck and then I need to press "skip anyway" just to continue.
Phone's a mess, an actual garbage. What should I do?
You just need to update your profile. That's it.
Settings>Updates>Update profile
Hi everyone,
First of all, i've read some posts about similar issues but i couldn't find one that exactly matched mine.
My phone was working perfectly last night, but today when i got up it was turned off.
I imagined that the battery had drained during the night, so i plugged it to the charger and after a while i turned the phone on.
It started alright but then it got stuck on the Samsung logo. It should then go to the "PIN code" screen but instead just stays there.
The Power+Home+Volume Up combination shows me the recovery mode menu with the android lying on his back and with a triangular red exclamation sign. Below there is a message saying "no command". The following options are allowed:
- reeboot system now;
- apply update from ADB;
- apply update from external storage;
- wipe data/factory reset;
- wipe cache partition;
- apply update from cache;
The Power+Home+Volume Down combination shows me the Update/download menu and it allows me to cancel or go to download mode.
My phone is not rooted, everything is original or updated as sugested/requested by the phone.
I haven't installed any new apps yesterday.
So my questions are:
1 - Can I fix this without deleting all of my data from the internal memory, or can still backup my data?
2 - How can I fix this?
Please take into consideration that i am a complete stranger to the "developer's technical language".
Thanks in advance
Hi all,
I got a strange problem after I upgraded - it started to show that I don't have any SIM and, therefore, no reception or mobile internet. The weirdest thing - the first few seconds after reset/restart it shows full 4g, but then reception triangle gets blank and missing SIM icon appears. And funny thing - the connection is active in this short period - I received a text with Viber access code. An impression was that network is fine before something loads and blocks it.
So, I tried to flash back the Stock Room with December patch, which I flashed to my Stock Retail Rom September patch (BL unlocked, rooted) before sideloading soaks. RDS failed on the third step as, I guess, it checks what you flash on to what. I shrugged and decided to flash custom Rom to be able then to flash 7,1 stock. I downloaded both ROM and gapps, flashed TWRP and booted to recovery. TWRP on it's first launch asked something and started to mount something, preparing for normal work. However, after it finished, it rebooted again and booted into stock recovery. Well, here I clicked everything I could, I mounted System (don't ask)), few other venues and, finally, erase userdata. It asked data only or personalized content as well - I chose the later. In the logs it said userdata, cache and something to do with carrier was deleted.
I clicked restart and it loaded into bootlaoder again. Hm, checked the logs and it said bootmethod in UKG was set as BL (fastboot reason). Restarted again. The phone said it was being encrypted and when finished - started normally. The setup menu asked for the language and the network triangle was full and showed 4G. I selected the language, setup WiFi and triangle disappeared. I put in my email address to setup Google account and froze - I have 2-step verification. So I inputted my password and restarted the phone in a hope to get the text while the connection is active. This time phone booted normally and ****ing miracle!!!! the network is back!
No idea what helped it, but if you have this trouble - maybe it will help you.
So... I stared into the abyss, but I came back from the brink - unlocked bootloader, and the modem/calibration stuff got wiped during what should have been a routine TWRP flash from fastboot, and left me with no radios whatsoever. After flashing S048, and applying all the known OTAs up till S251, I got my wifi & bluetooth radios back, but it didn't seem to recognise my SIM (tried both slots).
After trying for almost a week, I also finally got the diagnostics mode going and was able to put a working QCN backup in place (thank you XDA and uploader).
So I flashed the LineageOS 15.1 20180413, and lo and behold, it sees the SIM and asks for a PIN to unlock it. So far, so good. Then (first time) Android says 'switching to mobile data, might take a while' but nothing really happens (I am on wireless; if I turn off wifi that doesn't make any difference though).
Under 'Network', 'Automatically select network' is enabled but 'Network' (right below) is greyed out. When I untick 'Automatically select network', it says 'Error while searching for networks'. When I re-tick it again, it says 'Registered on network', although nothing really happens.
Under SIM cards, it says slot 1 is populated, but says 'Mobile Vikings is disabled' (Mobile Vikings being my provider). The button to enable it is greyed out. Switching to airplane mode doesn't force anything either.
I've had a logcat instance open when toggling 'Automatically select network', but nothing related seems to show up. Any hints on what I could try/check? Or is this a coaster?
I believe that once you erase the modem stuff you'll always have serious problems restoring it. It seems like most people have to send the device in for service.
I've still no solution for an old P2 of mine and in that case I even had a TWRP backup.
Lenovo should really allow for us to flash stock images . An unlocked bootloader with LESS privileges makes no sense.
Wipe everything in twrp & flash twrp full backup which included efs & modem shared on our p2 forum. then flash Fastboot s48 only systemchuncks 0-14, boot & recovery then do 4-5 OTAs updates till latest one s251, you'll get you mobile network & calls back.
@eried1 Yeah looks like it
@amansehdav I have turned the P2 subforum upside down and I already tried this - restore a working S233 TWRP backup, flash S048 through fastboot, and upgrade with the OTAs till S251. No dice. Wifi and Bluetooth came back with that process, but the stock firmware would not see the SIM.
