Root with Lollipop? - T-Mobile LG G3

I've tried all every method out there and I still can't get it to root. I asked for an RMA for my device because the charger port was finicky and now I want to root my new one because the stock DPI is terrible (540 FTW). No matter what I do it won't root. Purple Drake gives me a message saying my phone isn't vulnerable. Is there any way to downgrade to kit kat and then root? Any help is much appreciated.

You'll probably need to use the second method since you're on LP.

easy root method and ROM recommendation?? got a new FOB

I busted my last one and I got a FOB replacement and its driving me crazy. I know I can find ways to root but I'm looking for an easy way to root and a nice ROM recommendation would be nice. Preferably an Ice Cream Sandwich version with speed and performance in mind if at all possible.
thanks
I won't give you a recommendation, but to root, you need the hard route. Look for Captain_throwbacks root method for 2.18 and you can root with a little patience, and learning experience.

My last one was rooted but the last time I did it was about 2 years ago. My old method isn't available. I've been flashing ROMs for a while.

In order to root, you need to unlock the bootloader and flash a few images to downgrade and be able to finish root via revolutionary or unrevoked.
Any ROM recommendations?

Check the stickies for a list of roms. You'll never know what you like until you try them.

[Q] i cannot ROOT my g3

im going to make this short and sweet. Ive tried every method on the internet that i can find to root this phone. Methods include; stumproot, towelroot, framaroot, and root methods using the pc and running other programs. My software version is D58110r idk if that is what is stopping it from working or not. Ive also tried to use the lg mobile support upgrade tool just to upgrade to lollipop. im coming from a nexus 5 so this is my first time rooting a non nexus device in years(other one was the lg optimus v on virgin mobile). PLEASE SOMEBODY HELP ME...
Google is your friend. That software version fixed the exploit. You need to downgrade, root and then upgrade using one of a couple different methods out there.
You do not need to downgrade just use this One Click root and honestly its impossible to screw up your phone with this method. This will root your phone regardless of what firmware you are on. Link Provided below:

Thanks guys I'm going to try that right now. Didn't mean for post post to come off as too forward just really frustrated. Thanks again

Reading through that forum it seems familiar, I think I tried it about a month ago but I'll give it another try tonight

I can confirm that this method works flawlessly on 10r. I also strongly advise staying on stock root, using SkyDragon !.61 kernel with recommended settings in OP if you want things like your camera and LTE to work without big hassles. I also used Titanium to freeze what little bloat/unused apps, and I can report 0 FC's, and at least 24 hour battery. Ihave gotten as much as 64 hours. Good luck! :good:

is there an acctual root method?

Im on D85120e how the hell can i root my phone???

Root for lg metropcs k10 (ms428)

Is there any working and safe root for ms428 (k10 metrocps variant)?
I have been looking everywhere. Tried kingoroot but still no go.
I am starting to get frustrated
I'm giving one more week then exchanging it. I too am surprised there's no root method out yet. I bricked and exchanged a device already. No success trying to recover the device either using the Spanish screenshot disaster explanation which doesn't work.

I would say LG Stylo is closest but the camera isn't as good. Lens and size is nice but hardware processing is crap, but seems like every store has been on back order for them and with Stylo 2 out it's probably going to be shelved soon. I have faith in King root for solid success with k10 soon though.

We cant even use link2sd. This phone has 16gb rom but can let us use only 10gb. Smh.
No 3d games for us. And were not even allowed to mount the sd card as internal storage. Only portable.
Maybe the Galaxy J. I loved the Stylo but the GPS didn't work if the phone got hot.
I just got this pjone today because my old one broke and i had no way to research phones
Guy at metro over hyped it
Someone said there is an sd slot well where is it
And no root i even asked yhe ghy if i could root ot he said ya

Well, I can answer one of your questions. The sd card slot over laps the sim card slot.
We're all patiently waiting for root, my friend.

my patience is running out tho hahaha. 8gb worth of system files is crazy. they shouldve just put it as 8gb phone internal. instead of 16gb haha.
I'm running out of patience also. I've posted requests on android forums twice asking why there is no support for this phone and still haven't gotten a reply. It makes no sense whatsoever, when I got my old L70 there was a big support forum for it and the LgK10 is a much better phone so why no support? Pissing me off.
At least I would like a reason from Android Forums for why they have ignored the K10.

I'd buy the L70 again. It was an awesome little phone. Totally agree re: lack of communication. It looks like we had someone post up a failed root attempt about two weeks ago, along with another dev mentioning he'd start on it with no response since.
Devs, we just want to know if there's someone out there actively working on the K10. I can absolutely respect the time it takes to get it done right, but we can't tell if we're waiting on someone or no one.
I'm about ready to jump ship for the J7 or an original G Stylo (if I can get my hands on one). The bloat and stock setup on the K10 are maddening.
Can temp obtain root
I can get root temp using kingroot
Usjng the latest version of kingroot and will either root, or fail all the way to the request research for root button
I lose the root as soon as my phone restarts
The first time I tried it I got root, and phone made no restarts.
The second time I tried to get root back it eventually failed all the way to the research screen but the device did reboot several times during the kingroot root.
The latest time I rooted it the same as the first, no reboot.
I believe part of the problem is keeping kingroot as the superuser app, I think if I replace it with super su it may keep root.
I've seen several people say supersu ends up brick phone

Ive read the thread. Im not sure i follow tho.
Were suppose to install twrp first before we gain root access?
So that method is a flashable method then?

I am but it looks like we may be screwed without any sort of help from the forums folks. It just doesn't make sense that they would bypass giving this phone any consideration for support.
Count me as someone else looking to root this phone

What are my (best) options for root?

Hello,
I recently started using Moto G6 Play, and am wondering now what is the best and easiest option for root. I searched a bit on the forum and found one thread for root that includes unlocking bootloader and is more complicated than some info i have found on google - rooting with KingoRoot without pc (if that's even possible).
Device info: XT1922-3, 3/32gb
Build number: OPPS27.91-177-2
Android 8, latest security patches, available 9 Pie update.
Soo, my question is - Will methdos like KingoRoot work because that will suit just fine for me since i do not want to flash anything extra, but only debloat and optimize stock rom? And i suppose my bootloader is locked because when i power up with volume down + power it says oem_locked so thats another reason for pcless root.
Anyone can help?

DONT USE KINGO ROOT. For one you have to unlock the bootloader anyway so you can root please just use my guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/g6-play/how-to/guide-t3929928 to avoid screwing up your phone with any root like KINGO root. You have come on here asking what the preferred method is and over 5,000 people are using my guide lol so my guide is the preferred. You need all that in order to pass play store safety net if you even want be able to download alot of games or if you download the apks the game won't load and KINGO root 100% fails safety net checks to make sure your passing it

Hi, thanks for quick response,
Well yea, i gave up on KingoRoot after some researching that it might not be safest thing to use. But it seemed pretty handy for my situation. And yes i saw your guide and considered it as option but didnt really find any more reliable threads (maybe i didnt search long enough tho). Btw, as i noticed you method requires unlocked bootloader so if you have some thread available about it throw it here if you can, if not thanks anyways.

It's not an option, it's THE WAY. It's how to root.
Unlock bootloader, flash TWRP, use TWRP to flash encryption disabler and magisk.
Systemless root is the way now. Root is in the boot.img now. One click roots are dead.
The end
