What and how do I uninstall unwanted apps? - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I just bought a Galaxy Tab S and I was wondering if there is any way to remove some of the non-essential apps. My RAM is at 1.87 out of 2.7, and I want to free up as much as I can. I don't really know what apps I need for the tablet to run, but all I will be doing on it is watching and streaming movies and streaming my PC games via Gamestream. Which actually brings me to another question: Can I use my Dualshock 4 controller with Moonlight Game Streaming or do I have to purchase an OTG adapter?
Thank you in advance for your help.

You have to be rooted to fully uninstall an factory installed app, and you have to be careful you don't remove an app the system needs, I usually freeze them or disable them rather than removing them.

You didn't mention which version tab you have. If it's the Samsung Galaxy Tab S <> SM-T700 <> klimtwifi you can delete all the telephony apps too. This will free up resources. ONLY DO THIS IF YOU HAVE THE *WIFI ONLY* VERSION OF THE TAB
====FOLDERS/APPS I DELETE (not disable) and have ZERO problems, and increased RAM & CPU resources--who wouldn't want that?=====
Under /system/privapp/
CellBroadcastReciever/CellBroadcastReciever.apk
Telecom/Telecom.apk
TelephonyProvider/TelephonyProvider.apk
TeleService/TeleService.apk
Under /data/data/
com.android.cellbroadcastreceiver/several folders and files
com.android.phone/several folders and files
com.android.providers.telephony/several folders and files
com.android.server.telecom/several folders and files
com.android.smspush/several folders and files
com.android.stk/several folders and files
Under /system/app/
Stk/Stk.apk
WAPPushManager/WAPPushManager.apk
TiTiB (tweak it 'til it breaks)
Samsung Galaxy Tab S <> SM-T700 <> klimtwifi

I always use system app remover (root) as any removed apps can be restored easily if you encounter problems.

It is just the 32GB/bronze Wifi version of the tablet. Do I have to root to do the things you mentioned? I am not to savvy when it comes to doing that, at all.

Same tab I have. Pretty great, huh? The aforementioned suggestions require root. Do some searching on that--lot's of good stuff on xda and other places. However, I know from personal experience that KingRoot works on our tabs, also Flashify [emoji6].
I must also point out an excellent app if don't want to root quite yet: Package Disabler on Play Store. Pro version is $1.50 as I recall, is required if you want to disable more than 10 apps...and, it's well worth it. Before I took the plunge and rooted (painless, BTW) I used Package Disabler Pro to disable 104! apps, no kidding. There's a thread dedicated to it...happy searching/disabling/?rooting.

Package Disabler Free is not available any more i don't know why it`s an great app, now only the Pro version is available.

[Q] Adding app to a custom fw

hi i am making a new custom fw for my Arabian friends so i want to add an app to it
so is there any way to do it??
i thought at first that i just need to add the app file inside the Shpapp file but that wasn't right and didn't work
Any ideas would be useful
Thanks in advance
You just have to copy the apps folder to the SHPApp>Osp>Applications with the other applications. I was able to add Picsel Smart Offce and MyExplorer this way. And it worked like a charm. You can get the apps from sites where they upload apps for spoofing. I recommend: http://badawaveapps.blogspot.com/
Note: Sometimes the files that you download from such sites might already be spoofed. That is they have copied the contents of the apps into a container app and renamed the files accordingly. So the folder name will be different from what the actual folder name would be for that app. So if you want to still install these apps, you will have to edit the <ID></ID> part in the manifest.xml file in the Info folder of the app according to the folder name.
Hope it works for you.

You can add sygic/ndrive but not delete the native navigation app since Route66 is encrypted in the apps_compressed.bin file. Native apps which you can delete are: Daily Briefing, Twitter, Facebook, Samsung Apps, Samsung Apps Update and Social Hub Premium Instant Messenger,
Whatever changes you want to make in ShpApp file, do that and then recompile it and flash it with a firmware. Done
are you sure astrotom?
i tried it before and ended up with non working samsung apps and nothing added
i'll try and report
and yes my intentions is to add sygic and ndrive and i have the original files already

You will end up with a non working Samsung Apps only if you replace a particular firmwares's ShpApp with other firmwares's modified ShpApp.
very bad idea to get an app like sygic with all its maps inside the file
trix and Wave remaker couldn't do it
trix couldn't add a sound file from sygic
Wave remaker couldn't add a folder inside the file
maybe i'll use small apps like you said astrotom like My explorer and picsel smart office
manged to do it
i didn't believe myself when i saw sygic as original app in my customized firmware
thanks astrotom you advice was so helpful
sorry but ...if I can add a new app (free or not like sygic, myexplorer, picsel...) and having it regulary installed and functional in main menu without spoofing like preinstalled asphalt 5 then..if those new apps will receive an updated version and I do the update through samsung apps when I'm logged then those apps will appear in the purchase history as if I had bought them (like ashalt), is it possible?
Does samsungapps recognize the installation of the added app as it does for asphalt?
don't have paid apps in my country to comfirm this
the version of sugic that i put in the fw is the free promotion version so i don't think it will get updates
and no it didn't appear at the purchase history
you should try it your self or ask astrotom as he tried different apps
for me sygic is just enough as i added alot of maps and the Shpapp file reached 590 mb
well based on my experience with asphalt 5 you can update it but it does not appear in purchase history. hence if you accidently delete it you cant download it again
Unfortunately, you can't update apps. Samsung apps will still recognize those apps and if you have not updated to the latest samsung apps, you can even launch them from within samsung apps. But like asphalt 5, pre-installed apps are not allowed to update. Apps can be updated only if you have installed them from kies and if they belong to your country's app store.

mmm...I've pre-installed asphalt 5, never bought it, but I've updated it two times through Samsungapps application on wave (not using kies) and if you login before doing the update, asphalt will appear in your download history
(update is notified on the top of the downloaded/installed application list)
yes even i have updated asphalt through my phone

Have you tried changing app version to a lower number in Appinfo.sys and manifest.xml before flashing (in Info application folder)? If this works perhaps it's possible to load a firmware with only some configuration files for many apps (no need of full apps folder with lots of mb...), then:
-set microsd as installations target;
-run samsungapps application on wave, login and download all the 'update' (actually you'll download the entire apps );
-if this works, you'll have all your favorite apps in your purchase history, working normally on your wave and with any firmware...

hi every one again
wanted to report bad news back
you can add just two apps
if you added more than two apps you will get unexpected behavior like disappearance of the native apps like samsung apps, facebook, twitter, mini diary......etc
or ending up with broken samsung apps and nothing added
hope we find a way through this

[APPS] Note II APK files (Sprint and AT&T)

As several System dumps of the Note II software and several people requesting apps, I thought sharing all the APK's as seperate files would be usefull. With big thanks to oka1, sextape and sxtp-forum you can download both the Sprint ans AT&T (both US) Note II (L900) apk's from this link:
Sprint based Note II: http://www.mediafire.com/?nmcbac6m94r9p (lib files)
AT&T based Note II: http://www.mediafire.com/?8ey3nb7u8p54a (lib files)
To install the files, you have three options:
1) Push the files with ADB to /system/app and set the permissions to 644
2) Copy the files with a tool like ES File Explorer to /system/app and set the permissions to rw- r-- r--
3) Create a CWM flashable ZIP file
Please note that some apps are already available as installable zip, e.g. the Camera and Gallery app packed by kristofpetho and the Paperartist & Mediahub app by qureshali. Happy installing/modding/hacking!
i am iinterested in this, anyone have cwm .zip?

[FIX][KitKat 4.4.x] GTA: San Andreas

Hey guys I just wanted to post a fix to the San Andreas kitkat 4.4.x related crashes. This probably applies to other devices but is directed at the galaxy Nexus.
So from a (string | grep \\.so) of the gta libs, you can estimate the directly related system libs(.so extension): libc, libm, libz, libdl, liblog, libGLESv2, libGLESv1_CM, libEGL, libstdc++. These work in 4.3 but not for gtasa in 4.4. With some luck you should be able to copy them from a 4.3 /system/lib directory to your 4.4 installation. Just extract them from a 4.3 flash zip and copy them to /system/lib in aroma. I downloaded slimbean 4.3.1 final release (website should be slimroms.net) and copied the above mentioned libs to get this to work.
I'd put together a flash zip but this may involve some tinkering. Also make sure to copy the /system/bin/mksh file (system shell bound to libc.so) from slimbean 4.3 to your current kitkat 4.4 /system/bin directory.
Another thing to mention is that you probably need a cracked apk to run gtasa on the galaxy nexus whether you bought this game or not since the galaxy nexus isn't officially supported even though it runs perfectly fine. I'm using version 1.2. You may also mod your /system/build.prop file to emulate a Nexus 4 or 5. Duckduckgo "nexus 4 build.prop" and change the first bulk of the build.prop entries to match the Nexus 4 IF you don't have a cracked apk and IFF you still have issues.
When you start the game, It should load up to the social club page if you already got the games 2.5GB data in /sdcard/Android/obb, otherwise let it download. Then you click "offline mode" and it starts up. Yay!!! No crash!!
I recommend these settings once you're in: special effects on medium, draw distance 100%, analog controls, classic traffic, brightness at 80%.
And use the Dirty V kernel at 1350MHz. If you use performance control app, set readahead to 512MB bfq and then go to the last tab, click "edit shell command", and add "VMALLOC=1024mb" to increase video memory from 768 stock. To change gpu freq to 384MHz, open term and do "(print '1' >| /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/gpu_oc)".
I'm really happy to have finally figured this out and hope this helps y'all mega GTA fans such as myself.
(***Remember to chmod +r any files you change/add and modify the system in aromafm, not android runtime. [\golden advice])
Viel Spaß!
EDIT: I posted a zip containing the libs Im using. Just extract it with Total Commander and copy the files *.so from the ...lib... folder to /system/lib. I also included the apk I'm using which should allow those letdown galaxy nexus customers to play the game on the Galaxy Nexus.
i bricked my tablet

[Q] Debloating the D855 rom as much as possible......

Hello there, on other phones (like for instance, the s3,4 and 5 and sony phones) i have debloated the phone using titanium backup/ or es file explorer
I deleted all the google apps i dont need, all the samsung files like anything to do with samsung apps, and any 'test' app, themes etc
my question is.........
on the lg g3, can i delete these files (USING titanium backup) :
the apps that end with TEST?
LG PC suite files?
the smart files i.e smartshare beam etc?
the weather apps? quickmemo app? which lg app?
I'm curious to. I always debloat the stock rom but I wan't to know witch apps can be deleted. I deleted some of them but I wan't know if there are other apps which can be deleted
Yes you can. Rooted, of course. :good:
We know that we can debloat the ROM but we wan't to know ALL the apps that can be removed
So can someone write here all apps that are safe to delete from stock rom?
Read this thread guys: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/debloat-remove-unwanted-apps-make-g3-t2959350
Debloating makes the phone so much faster!
