Hi,
I want to buy a cheap tablet with 3g/LTE.
Finally I found Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 3g and LG G Tab 8.0 LTE as the best options.
G Tab has s400, 1GB of ram and the same resolution of the screen as note. What is more it has Stock 5.0 with no prospects for next updates. On the other hand Note has almost the same performance with his exynos, but 2 GB of ram and Stock kitkat with 5.0 and 5.1 customs.
And now some questions...
How do customs work on Note 8.0 3g? Are they fully working roms, for everyday usage?
I'm afraid that it looks as always nice in screenshots but not that nice in everyday usage.
Do you recommend to buy note 8.0 3g today or maybe fresher G pad?

I think, that solely depends on whether you think that you will have use for the s-pen. If you believe you will use it, I think the Note 8 still is a very usable device. If you won't use the pen heavily, more recent devices might be a better choice.

Are there any developers working on custom ROMs for Tab 3 (8" version)?
I'm trying to decide between a Nexus 7 (2013 model), Note 8.0, and Tab 3 8".
Custom ROMs, preferably AOSP based, are very important to me. The Tab 3 has been out for 2 months and there are still no custom ROMs available for the 8" version. Are we likely to see some fully functioning CM or AOSP ROMs anytime soon?
Crickets.....
Well I made a post
Like this yesterday and a developer said they will be porting a stock 4.3 ROM to it soon but I would wait a month because the lg g pad will be coming out and it has some crazy specs
I bought a 8 inch version yesterday, awesome tablet even straight out of the box, but was shocked that theres no custom ROMS for it, is it dead or something?

I would not expect any development for the Tab 3 8.0.. This is just not a Tinker's Tablet..
If ROM's are what you are looking for, you need to return this Tablet.. Pony Up another $100.00 bucks and go for the Note 8.0.. I stood in the store for like 30 minutes holding the Note 8.0 & Tab 3 8.0 side by side comparing everything.. Even though they are both 800 x 1200 Res Screens, Our Tab 3 8.0 Screens are Brighter & Sharper than the Note 8.0 's Screen.. I TRIPLE CHECKED that..
Having just sold my Galaxy Note phone, I knew all about the S-Pen and knew it was something that I would not miss.. so why spend another $100.00 for a Screen that is not as Bright or Sharp as this one? That's why I chose the Tab 3 8.0 I also have the iPad Mini which is an 8 inch screen.. I now feel this is the Perfect Size Screen for a Tablet..
But, You need to choose between the Nexus-7 2013 ( I had one and returned it for the Tab 3 8.0 ) and the Note 8.0.. You will have all the ROM's Pacman, Carbon, Slim, AOSP, AOKP, CM 10.1 to choose from..
But.. You will either give up screen size or dollars for the luxury of running those ROM's..
I just Rooted so I could install a Custom Recovery do Backups and Remove any App I deemed not needed.. I'll play with some Xposed Framework if Launcher Theming gets too boring..

Hahaha. You returned your nexus 7 for a tab 3 8 too? Now we don't need to install auto hide! Bezel buttons FTW.
I actually have both the note 8 and the tab 3 8 right now. I still don't know which I'm going to keep! Pros for the tab are that its lighter and narrower, thus easier to hold when reading. Pros for the note are that the wider bezels make of easier to type on in portrait. The s-pen is a cool toy but ill probably use it 3 times a year. Speed is mostly irrelevant. I don't see a difference for day to day stuff.
I don't know what you're talking about the screens being different. I thought they are literally the same screen.... like the same part from the same factory. Is that not correct?

Hey Rum!
They are suppose to be the same.. but my in store eye test told me quite different.. maybe there are variables that we are not aware of.. But I set them both to full brightness and compared several similar screens.. and it was no contest in my eyes.. The Note 8.0 was good.. but the Tab 3 8.0 was better..
Good Luck in your decision Rumatt.
sad, until now still no Dev for Tab 3 8" and 10", it's more likely they all go for N7 2013.

Waiting for cm team to release a mod. Based on their sources majority of roms will flow out.

Hello,
I see a lot of work being done in Original Android Development and that is really exacting to see!
I'm planing to buy a new smartphone and I was waiting to see what the Note 3 has to bring to the table, and I don't think we need 3gb of ram in any near future, and Super Amoled on Note 3 is pentile.
So for me there are only 2 options Note II or G Pro. I really like the G Pro because of Full HD screen, 13mpx camera, and Snapdragon 600 processor.
No matter what phone will I buy I will install custom rom on it (Pure Android AOSP, cm10.1 / 2...)
Now I have one question for you and one request;
Do you believe that G Pro will get fully stable 4.3 rom, and as far as the roms are at the moment are they fluid, and fast? I would totally buy Nexus device but it has to small screen for me, so speed and fluidity is a factor for me. Note II has Exynos processor but we all know how is Samsung with the source release, they just don't release it so the Note II will newer get used to the full potential...
How is LG in that department?
And I have one request. Can someone make a video of any pure Android based rom running on G Pro, so i can see that phone in action?
Thank you from hope to be soon user of G Pro!
even when I'm typing this, we're already having SlimBean 4.3 Beta. that's we can stay pretty stable. But what version u gonna buy? that's the big question. Development is in quicker pace fro E980 version, but the pace is still very slow (or can I say no go) for other variants such as E988. So, check out which version is compatible with the carrier you're using, and how many custom roms available for that version of handset. just my 2 cents
I'm shopping for a 8" tablet. I'm considering either Samsung pro 8.4 or LG Pad 8.3 google play edition.
It seems that the 8.4 Pro stock ROM is sluggish compared with a google play edition LG G Pad 8.3. Will installing debloated ROM make Pro 8.4 as fast as LG G 8.3? Or its about high screen resolution on Samsung where customized ROMs can only help a little bit?
if you looking for pro8 , why not Samsung Tab S ?
Im using Tab Pro8, it works great, didn't flash any custom rom, just get root and install greenify, system tuner etc , i can del what i want even app in rom after root (Deboat), so it works very great. Of course it still can't compare with Note3 ( I swapped Note3 to TabPro this year) , i feel like just a bit slower while swapping apps. But, I like the menu button change, and installed GMD for faster app switching

I have the Tab S 8.4 unrooted with stock ROM and I bought my girlfriend the 8.4 Pro and immediately installed Cyanogenmod 11 M9 on it. The Tab Pro is much, much smoother. I don't know about gaming but for general surfing, reading and videos the CM11 is definitely fast enough. I just wish it was also available for my Tab S so I could get rid of the Touchwiz lagfest because the Amoled screen in the Tab S blows away the Tab Pro.
I bought it 250 euros. for that price there is no competition. on the other hand there must be a reason that in 6 months it went down to 250 from 450...!
so far it is great but - yes there is a but... - it feels like it begs you to flash the "samsung" out of it...
so you will get a great tablet either way, which you can root or flash and make it awesome

The gpad 8.3 has two disadvantages over the Samsung tablets (pro or s)
- display. The display is arguably the most important tablet component -good tablet or bad, you'll be looking at that display! The gpad had a very disappointing display. Much dimmer than Samsung and the colors were a lot worse to my eye. Definitely compare them side by side before making a choice.
- the infrared remote: Samsung lets other developers make apps that work with the IR. The gpad, at least when I had it shortly after release, could not be accessed by most IR apps. That was down to its use of a proprietary, encrypted signal channel as I understand it.
I don't like Touchwiz, so I don't run it. You can run another launcher and do much better on feel of the UI, or you can go whole hog and install CM11 - the build for the device is quite good and is beginning to do very nice things for battery life.
The upside for the gpad is that it's going to get official releases of updates much faster than the pro or s series Samsung tabs will.
For me, the benefits of the Samsung are well worth it.

Where did you get it for 250 eur?
Defenitly go for Samsung's 8.4, i've heard really bad recensions about LG's 8 inch tablets .
There is cyanogenmod and slimkat available for Pro 8.4 and they are working lovely.
Sound system is incredible on Pro 8.4, screen resolution is beautiful.

Haven't tried the LG tablet, so I couldn't compare the two. But to me, all the sluggishness was within the TouchWiz launcher (going between home screens, app drawer, etc.). Going to a CM-based ROM, the tablet feels very smooth to me.

Its just the way it is with Android tablets. The masses are drawn to the cheaper devices, and the higher end tablets really don't sell much, and drop price quickly. Although I am glad the higher end Android tablets are being offered. It was pretty bad, for a while there wasn't anything but feature gimped cheap tablets in the smaller 7-8 inch form factor.

Look at the release date for each tablet - I'd personally go with the newer
Do you care about the physical home button? That was a contributing factor to my Tab Pro purchase.
There was galaxy note 8 and note 10 previously but i cant find it now
they either removed it or holding it back
anyway today poland confirmed note 2 lollypop . there is lot of similar hardwares we can find in note 2 and note 8
hope they release all codes of this also
http://www.youmobile.org/blogs/entr...will-get-Official-Android-5-0-Lollipop-Update
Note 8.0 LollyPop
I am sure the Note 8.0 will receive LollyPop.
KitKat is a farce, compared to Jellybean. Have 2 Note 8.0s now, one is listed in my sig and the other I have been dealing with for some time since grabbing it on Ebay for less then $100. Who knows what little Lollypop will do for the Note 8.0, as so far JB has proven to me how stable and battery friendly it is over KitKat. Besides LPs interface is to gimmicky and waists screen space. Since more an more apps are pushing the new design, I am getting more and more fed up with Android in general. Samsung Tizan and Linux OS will save me from Google's self worshiping toy interface style.
I don't think soon
cause of release of tab a8
Same hardwear or lower
more expensive than note 8 cause of lollipop
If updated
no body will buy tab a8
Ok. So I'm on my 3rd warranty replacement of my nexus 9 and 5.1.1 killed my lcd. Only works when you hands on the screen. It's through tmobile so I've been offered the option to swap the nexus 9 for another tablet. The options aren't that wide. I'm limited to a Ipad (have a mini and I don't want another ipad) galaxy tab s 10.5, the tab 4, and the LG gpad f. I honestly am Leaning towards the tab s 10.5. I know there's a new one on the horizon but I have to decide today so I'm asking you guys. Tab s 10.5 or no?

If thoses are your only options.. which one of the Tab S? Because if your getting a carrier branded Tmobile model then you arent going to see any good roms of the Tmobile Tab S. If you are just getting a wifi only Tab S then go for it! Tab 4 kinda sucks.. its a budget tablet. As for the Lg gpad im not sure. If your not worried about custom roms and such if its a Tmobile Tab S , give the Tab S a try. Screen is great!

Like 1 rom... you can install international roms but youll lose LTE/3g or what ever. So that means youll only be able to use wifi if you install international roms.
