Help with Root and Recovery installetion - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all, sorry for the NB question.
Coming from nexus its different to me here.....
I am going to receive the H815 international model tomorrow and first thing i would like to do is with the phone is
1. making a fresh installation of the latest model.
2. Unlock the boot loader.
3. Root the device
Can you please direct me to a full guide of the process ?
What is the latest version to the international model

Take a look over here for Root:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/orig-development/root-tmo-vzw-intl-variants-soon-root-lg-t3164765
But pay careful attention to this excerpt from page 1:
'International H815 10c Version (NOT H815T, H815TR, H815P, etc - you will lose internationalization and possibly features)'

Thank you

Anytime.
Which International version do you have?

[Q] Korean Optimus G/Rooting & such

Greetings people
I've got a couple of issues with my Optimus G E975, bought from S Korea but used in Norway. I'll try to be quick and short.
The phone works well and all that, but my issues are more technically challenged.
When I bought it there wasn't any info that the phone would have a carrier logo at startup and on the back (Olleh) and that it would be a couple of Korean apps that are totally useless to me since I'm not korean. I want to delete them but they are "built-in" so that didn't work.
I tried to root my phone, to the best of my knowledge, but I was not successful. I've tried to understand how I could do it, but the more I read the more I didn't understand
So please, if there is anyone, someone, who would kindly guide me throug the rooting/cracking/breaking etc the phone I would be hugely thankful.
Mostly because I want to remove the carrier logo on start-up and the annoying Korean apps, maybe turn it into a European version if possible?
Here are some stat/info on the phone:
Android-version: 4.1.2
Kernel-version: 3.4.0
Version number: JZO54K
Program-version: F180K20n
Any and all help is mighty appreciated :good:
Sincerly your

This need a 2nd opinion from more knowledgeable users ...
...what if you followed the steps outlined in the 'unbricking' thread and 'forced' an update to your country's firmware ?
It's just a thought...wait for another opinion...

I think this procedure would work to flash your phone with your local firmware. It seems more simple.:

And what will the "flashing" do with my phone?
I think I'll wait a couple of weeks/months until I try to root my phone, since there is too many people not getting it right, thank for all the help :good:

Don't know what you and other guys doing, rooting is simple and works on Korean and English version.
You can than delete apks.
Or simple flash Europe 10D kdz' root, freegee, flash Korean modem.
Root method working for both Korean and European version.

Thanks, that root worked
But what kind of app should I use to remove the korean apps? Or can I turn my phone into a European version, if that is more simple?
Should I just download a european 10d kdz file? Or how does it work? It's all new to me...

If its unlocked can towelroot root the device and don't mess with a bunch of bat files and downloads etc etc??
If anyone came from nexus community they sertiny know franco and faux did anyone uses their commits to build a kernel if now who do you think is a great developer for G3
and also this lollipop versions that exist are they official, leaks, soak tests???thanks sorry if those questions are asked before and also excuse me for my english!!!

G3 is easy to root and bump (install TWRP)
Bootloader is locked and Bump gets around the lock.
Root using the correct tool for your model check original dev section
Flash Bump'd twrp using flashify and your golden
The lollipop is official for most devices except carrier specific which i'm unsure about

A lot of your questions can be answered via the FAQ thread. Have a read there. It's what I read through to determine if this was the right phone for me (rootable, custom ROMs, etc):

Bump is the workaround of locked bootloader ? So flashing let's say twrp from official site will brake the unlock?

H815L root?

Hello XDA.. I own an LG G4 (H815L Variant), and I am very interested in rooting my G4 H815L (Israeli variant).
however, I am extremely unsure whether any of the available rooting methods will work with this variant (by rooting I mean that I also need to unlock the bootloader and TWRP)
anyone know if any of the currently available methods will work with this model? as far as I know, from trying, the official method does not work just yet with the H815L.
thanks in advance to anyone who can answer.
yes i have it and rooted with no problem, follow the guide on the original android development forum.

and when it comes to the "command to run", do I download the file listed under the:
[ International H815 10c Version (NOT H815T, H815TR, H815P, etc - you will lose internationalization and possibly features) ]?
nevermind, figured it myself. thanks for the help! this post can be closed.
I made a rooted rom for H815L based on the Israeli 10c version & running it on my phone since yesterday.
Everything is like stock including all regional features (like RTL alignment & Hebrew on dialer)
if someone is interested i will upload it.

Hey, do you mind telling how did you figured it out?
I have 815P and I'd like to know how did you make it.
Did you use the International version? Downloaded from some official LG site?
Thanks!!

Well I did not use the official method. I used the method presented at this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/...-tmo-vzw-intl-variants-soon-root-lg-t3164765/
followed instructions to the letter, while downloading the drivers which are labeled: "All G4 (except Verizon) - http://downloads.codefi.re/autoprime...Ver_3.14.1.exe"
and the Command to run I used was:
"International H815 10c Version (NOT H815T, H815TR, H815P, etc - you will lose internationalization and possibly features):
Code:
dd if=/data/media/0/system.rooted.H81510c-EU.img bs=8192 seek=55296 count=529920 of=/dev/block/mmcblk0
using these with the instructions the OP wrote in that post just got my phone rooted.
I do recommend that you do a little more research before attempting... would feel bad if you got your phone bricked.... cause as you can see, in the command to run he mentions not to try it one the H815P...
you better ask him which command to run you need to use before committing to this method.
I wish you luck friend!

From what I understood... the "etc" meant that all the H815 variants (H815L , H815T, H815P, and so...) can be considered as "NOT"
Did you notice anything wrong after doing it? Everything fine?

Your current software version would be helpful. If you never updated maybe. But if your running the latest version you most likely cannot root.

Check this XDA posting out ... Root ANY LG G4 Variant 100% Success Directives | Root Injection | Less Bricks at:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/lg-g4-100-root-success-directives-root-t3180586
Read the OP carefully - first, you have to be able to rollback to Lollipop. If you can, see if you can find a pre-rooted version of your software, it will save you a lot of time. You can google root LG G4 H810 AT&T for more information, paying particular attention to XDA posts.
Good luck

Agreed ... but ... he can Google the dial pad code for his hidden menu for his phone and open SVC - I gather if it is higher than 1 then he will not be able to roll back. FYI: I did qualify with IF he can roll back ...
In any event, if he uses LGUP-NEW to flash a stock Lollipop image, it should throw throw up an error regarding the anti-rollback version roll back.

If you need root stay on LL.
You can't unlock bootloader so you will never be able to root MM.
TWRP is available for your device when rooted - even when NOT unlocked. Search for TWRP-in-FIsH but read carefully.
