Hey guys,
I bought a rooted Galaxy S3. On the back of the phone I can read the following: SGH-I747 16GB
Afterwards I checked the information of the current firmware: Model: SGH-T999, Base Band Version: I747UCLH9 (Android Version 4.1.1)
Now I would like to update the firmware to Android 4.3 (ideally a german firmware).
But now I'm not sure, what firmware I have to use. I'm afraid, I'll crack the phone, if I install the wrong firmware.
Thanks a lot for your help :cyclops:
Please edit your post and delete the S/N number. Never disclose this or your IMEI.

If I were you, I would not update to a stock 4.3 ROM because the 4.3 ROM will include Knox. I also recommend backing up your imei and nv folder before flashing ROMs.
Is your phone unlocked? If not, you can try using the free unlock method to permanently unlock it.
Thanks for your good tip. Unfortunatelly it's the phone of my girlfriend.
That's why I would like not too much changes in design and functionality of the phone.
I'll surely backup the device before changing anything. The phone is already unlocked.
Is it possible, to install the rom I9300XXUGML2 on this phone?
No any I9300 roms could hard brick.
Thanks a lot. So I think, I would have to use the I747UCUEMJB for the phone.
If I install the stock rom, can I change the default language (incl. keyboard) to german (I'm afraid that it's not working because of Knox)?
And if it's not possible to change the default language, which firmware would you recommend, which looks exactly or nearly the same as the Original one?
The back of the phone indicates that it is an AT&T s3 (i747) but the firmware says it's a T-Mobile s3 (T-999).
Looks like there is a mismatch on the firmware.
That's the problem I have. I'm unsure which firmware I should take.
The guy I bought the phone from told me that he bought it in China. And I think he already bought it as a rooted phone.
We bought the phone and everything works fine 'til today. I know, never change a running system. But an update with all the new functions and bug fixes would be really great. And because it's my girlfriend's phone I don't like to change the firmware to one which looks differently than the actual one...
If it were me, I would just flash the stock AT&T.
midst trmicri
Ok, so I'll install the firmware I747UCUEMJB
If so, will the phone still be rooted? I have to change the language to german after installation. And like I know it shouldn't be possible, if the phone isn't rooted anymore...

You can't just flash a stock AT&T 4.3 ROM in Odin because there is no such file. You would have to flash a completely stock AT&T ROM and then update to 4.3. I'm not sure that AT&T ROMs have German as one of the languages.
Well, technically it would still be rooted (at least that happened to me), but also dunno if it has German language

Thanks a lot. So the easiest possibility would be not to flash the stock at&t rom and update the rom, which is already on the phone.
Your phone is an sgh-i747 which is an AT&T s3 but the operating system is a T-999. If this is right, there is definitely a mismatch between the phone and operating system.
If you want the 4.3 ROM on your phone, install a custom recovery and flash firmware that's made for the d2att.
I googled I747UCLH9 and I found this: http://androidromupdate.com/tag/i747uclh9/
Where do you see T-999 in your phone?

Boot your phone into recovery mode. Do you have a custom recovery installed?
Quick question?....now that the 4.4.2 ota official update has came thru. Does anyone know of anyone working on a stock rom mirroring the 4.4.2 ota.. In a flashable rom zip form... Not g.e or miui just the same ota 4.4.2 in a rom form ... for those that dont want to update to 4.4.2?
Alot of people use the Metro PCS s4 m919n which is the same as m919 literally besides the metro bloat and we use tmobile m919 roms..all day on Metro s4 thats why i asked ...
becasue it may be a easy way to get 4.4.2 on metros m919N which as far as i know has yet to se a 4.4.2 update.
If this is possible im thinking about flashing Odin uvuemk2 on my METRO S4 making it a official stock m919 4.3 then trying the 388mb update.zip that someone has managed to mirror from the ota. That should put my m919n on tmobiles 4.2.2
Dont believe any bootlaoder or baseband issue will arrise these phones are super identical And run eachothers roms from 4.1.2 all the way too what we currently have.
Any insight will be great

No bootloader or baseband issues will a rise, I've successfully ODINed quite a bit of tmo specific stuff onto my M919N and it works perfectly fine. It's now a M919 of course.
I'm a bit confused about your question though, so you do want 4.4 stock tmo on your S4 or not? Or are you asking of the possibility of getting a 4.4 stock M919N ROM that's still metro? Because if you just simply want 4.4 stock tmo, all you have to do is odin the stock firmware like you said and make sure to triangle away if your device is custom then you'll be able to OTA and get 4.4

Hey all,
I'm a bit out of the loop and want to get my Tmobile Galaxy S3 ready to sell. I'm currently running Cyanogenmod 10.0, CWM recovery, etc. I'd like to get it as close to stock KitKat as possible. It looks like Cyanogenmod 12(Lollipop) is a possibility also. Do I need to take any special precautions before flashing something new?
Thanks
If your device has received kitkat update from your carrier just go ahead and flash to it. If it hasn't, just flash the latest available firmware for your model. Lollipop, no.. The average person likes their phone to be stock believe it or not
I am aware of the threads pertaining to similar questions like mine but I am uncertain of their similarities and most don't provide relevant information that will help me. Here are the current software details for my rooted phone.
Carrier - AT&T
Android Version - 4.4.4
Baseband Version - I747UCUEMJB
Model Number - Samsung-SGH-I747
ROM - Carbon
Carbon Version - Carbon-Quantum-7/25
Recovery - ClockworkMod Recovery v6.0.4.3
I am planning on getting a new phone within the coming days, most likely a Note 4, I plan on selling this phone and would like it to be stock Touchwiz. I don't remember the Android version I was on when I bought it in Dec 2012 but I'd like it to be exactly like it was then, I'd update it to the latest one on my own, or if that isn't practical then I'd go with the latest "stock" option available to my specifications.
I am currently looking at these two threads but I am unsure if which is the one for me?

Please help me. I'd like to go as "stock" as I can. Thanks!
The first method would be your best bet. Your phone has the mjb bootloader; therefore, none of the stock AT&T firmware from sammobile.com can be flashed to your phone.
You should flash back to stock and run OTA to get the latest KK ROM on your phone.
I need help in installing the factory Touchwiz ROM for my Galaxy SIII. I don't know where to get it and I don't know which one I need.
The reason is because CyanogenMod is not working correctly with my FreedomPop (Sprint) network. I can't update PRL or profile. The camera app doesn't work either, because it constantly crashes and I have to reboot the phone. Various other issues, but those stand out as priority. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
Here's my phones specs:
Current CM version: 11-20150222-NIGHTLY-d2lte
SPH-L710
Android version: 4.4.4
Baseband version: L710VPUDND8

If you don't have a touchwiz backup, go to the Android development section and download a rom to flash. You can get either the stock or Wicked X roms there. They will let you update PRL and profile.
@ivpre Thanks for the response! Any suggestion which version to get? Would the latest one work? Reason I'm asking is I used to have a Verizon Galaxy SIII and once you took the update, it locked the bootloader. Is this something I should be concerned about?

One you upgrade to a firmware with Knox you can't revert back to one without it. Not a problem for most folks. I currently use ND8 bootloader with NDC modem. I hear NJ2 has a fair performance boost tho.

You are probably good since you were running CM. But to run the latest TouchWiz, you need to be on ND8 or NJ2. If not on either of those, read the stuff below.
MAKE UP A NANDROID BAKCUP OF YOUR CURRENT SET UP
To update to NJ2: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/d...10SPRDNJ2_SPR/
Flash a recovery via ODIN, it is the program you used in the above step: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2201860
There is also TWRP somewhere, but even though Philz isn't being developed, I haven' t had any issues with it. But if you want to recover your previous setup, it is probably best to use the same recovery as before.
The latest WickedX or Wicked S5 should work just fine. If you are unsure of your current firmware, I would just follow the directions above. Then you can flash a rom or root.
