So, what's the best option... can we still buy T-Mobile S6E+ outright, unlock it, and use it on AT&T...or is the international version a better way to go?
I use Tasker to run several scripts and a boat load of other stuff that requires root...
I've looks at some other devices but if I can get a rootable Samsung working on att, that's what I'd prefer to upgrade to...
AT&T S4 i337 > SafeRoot > SafeStrap 3.71 > HyperDrive RLS12
Tasker-ized
This will be bypassed by devs. Knox originally caused similar problems.... But I'm sure there will be a work around, just like everything else. I'm just ready for it to happen! Lol.

Most of the time it is because the os is not supported on that app ... Like when ICS first came out you have some apps that won't work on it .... There is usually nothing that can't be fixed you didn't have to sell it just find out what wasnt right and fix it ..

I haven't experienced a single unwarranted app crash. The few times I did have a crash it was do to user error or restoring app data. Did you make sure that you wiped everything between roms? Any left over data can cause all sorts of issues down the line.

Rooting the Note 2 doesn't take away any functionality, if anything it adds extra functionality that wasn't there by default.
For example: Do you happen to use the multi-window capability that the device has? If you do, wouldn't it be even better if you could use any app you wanted and not just the predetermined choices? Most custom roms offer that to root users.
What apps are useless with root? How is the Spen useless?
The only time that my Spen has ever been useless is when I'm not using it. Even aosp roms that don't natively support it have apps that will bring most of, if not all of, it's practical applications back. And aosp is only an option and not a requirement to being rooted.
I apologize if this seems overly harsh or blunt but for someone who blatantly states "I have never rooted any of my device [e]ven my gn 2" I would refrain from giving out false information, and if you truly wish to help out someone with a question pertaining to things that you don't understand (as of yet) that you would research it to give your response a more meaningful bit of advice. They run on different network types, they have different software and some different hardware and entirely different model numbers. You want the gt-n7100/n7105 forums this is the sph-l900. If you use anything from this forum you run a real good risk of bricking your phone. Your total lack of knowledge between the device differences is one reason you definitely shouldn't be rooting your phone and most likely the reason you broke the last device you tried to root.

I never root by reading on xda I just Google for the roms or pda files for my model........ By the way what different hardware u got in ur model. My GN2 costed me rs. 40000=approx 930 USD(after conversion)..........Plz mention the hardware difference.... It's damn so disappointing If u got tegra enabled GN2 much cheaper than me......N 1 more thing I rooted my device

We have CDMA radios, LTE radios, no wireless charging, partitions are formatted differently for the different partitions required by the network differences and other country specific differences. The differences aren't huge but their enough to make them 2 entirely different devices that can't share software/firmware without modification if it can share them at all, some things arent interchangeable no matter how much you modify them, like modems.

You could unlock your device if its not already (not sure if international devices are tied to a specific carrier) and use any of our GSM networks like at&t or t-mobile or the numerous prepaid variants of the 2. That's the one nice thing about unlocked GSM devices all you have to do to change networks is switch out the SIM card.
I like to break stuff!
We have lotzzz of carriers here and I have 5 sim cards. Sometimes, I use 2 cards simultaneously with a dual slot chip set does this means my model is unlocked?

Most likely, im not even sure foreign carriers lock their devices like they do here in the US. If you bought your phone full price then its more than likely unlocked, the more I think about it I'm almost positive most foreign carriers don't provide locked phones outside of a few UK and French carriers that sell carrier branded hardware.
I like to break stuff!
I suggest you unroot your device. You seem you didnt get any advantage from rooting other than wasting your own time.
OP,
You have an international version so you're already unlocked. Is there any app that you need super user access for? Do you care to modify your phone, or are you happy with it the way it is? If you like the phone the way it is, leave it unrooted. You'll get software updates faster, won't void your warranty, and won't mess with something you may have no need for.
I have been asked by people as to WHY would you want to root your phone? Or the big question...what is rooting?
So this is what I tell them when one of these questions is asked.
Lets say you bought a brand new Mustang Gt. You paid for it and it belongs to you. But you notice that Ford has only certain options available to you and all the others are locked down. But this is YOUR car. But the PCM is locked down and your stuck with the options Ford wants you to have.
But...help is here. You find out that your PCM can be unlocked (rooted) so you can have access to your cars full potential.
Your brand new phone is just like the Mustang until you unlock its full potential.
So I ask you...root or not to root?

For me it's not a huge deal since I don't play games on my phone so I don't really need the extra speed. I just like my phone feeling snappier when using the basic apps like texting. I'm also very minimalistic so it's nice to be able to get rid of the bloat

I only got the phone to use with Tzones. I'd like the wifi calling and Samsung camera features. Has anyone put a Tmobile oem rom onto a Google Play S4 yet? Couldn't find anything searching, seems everyone is putting the GE rom on tmobile phones.
I'm sure it'd be much easier to trade phones with someone who got theirs from T-Mobile. I'm sure you'd find people willing to do so as well

Rule number 1 when flashing is to never flash a ROM not meant for your specific device. So I'd say not really because even if the differences are minor flashing a ROM like that could end up bricking your device. However, you could ask the dev to port the ROM.

Can't use a tmobile branded phone with the $5.99 Tzones internet plan. That's why I got the GE S4. It's be cool to have the tmobile software on the google play hardware.
I am definitely not a noob here but, it has been a loooong time. From the HD2 and g2x days including a stint with Team Hellfire. I just tried to get back in to the scene with the purchase of a tmous galaxy s4 (4.3) and am realizing that I may not be able to root. That being said, I have read that you can and that you can't. What is the definitive answer? can I root this paperweight or not?
I'm not too familiar with the s4 but I know with 4.3 on an HTC one you can't root yet.
Check your software build number and boot version and then search on those numbers. Most 4.3 phones right now can't root unless you were previously s off and just took the ota. Then all you had to do was reinstall superuser.

You can root, use custom recovery, flash other ROMs, etc but you will trip the (as of right now) KNOX warranty flag. If you care about your warranty, leave it stock and don't muck around. If the warranty doesn't really matter to you, having a tripped KNOX flag doesn't incapacitate your device or anything; just don't expect warranty agreements to be honored.
Cf auto root

I was deciding between s4 and HTC one. How do you like yours? I don't think I'm a big fan of touch wiz. I hope Verizon does not take away my unlimited data because all I've had were Verizon HTC phones.
If I had to switch carriers I would probably keep my DNA as it has bands that work on pretty much all carriers except sprint.

So far it is nicely put together and it has a ton of features. Not really happy with the lock down from Samsung though. First is was a lack of source release from LG and now Samsung has to play games
Sent from my SGH-M919 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Yeah they did pack a lot of features in the s4. What they should have done was made the build quality better, it's not as plasticy feeling as the s3 but they should have of course got rid of the home button.
I heard Knox is a pain but at least you can root it now. I can't even use my one right now because I hate the Verizon software.

Yep--T-Mobile parts out devices and couldn't care less whether the device is modified. All they do is (briefly) inspect hardware, including water sensors, and ensures that it boots. That's it.

Lost is 100% right there, i can totally attest to that.
As far as root method...i used CF-Auto-Root...but if you want to install a custom rom, youre going to HAVE to trip knox and void the warranty, the warranty is usually the samsung warranty you have to fear, but if youre going to t-mobile you will most likely be all set, even then there are way to restore everything.
But i own a Note 3 N900T but i use Straight talk with AT&T Towers.
If youre looking for ONLY root, then that wont help you debloat anything, that will just allow you to run unsigned Apps, but Chainfires autoroot is the only way to go IMHO in that aspect. If you dont understand the differences im almost finished Writing up my Root Q&A
