So this issue has been happening randomly over the last two weeks and suddenly it started to happen on specific times.
Basically what happens is that my phone reboots when I open Snapchat or get a message on Messenger and I press on it right as I get it. It seems to also happen when the CPU jumps up a notch.
I think it is the battery because when the phone is plugged in and charging, it never reboots even if I open Snapchat. As soon as I remove the charger it will reboot while still in Snapchat...
As I said, I think the battery is faulty but I do not know how to be sure. Is there any apps or ADB commands to check my battery wear etc? I need to fix this because I need my phone everyday for school (doing a project which makes me need my phone all the time for verification), and I am waiting for the Moto X Style.
I've tried different ROMS and different kernals but nothing helped.
So it's surely caused by battery health.
Try to replace them in warranty, or try the better Mugen battery.
If the problem persists, you sadly have to return to stock and look for LG assistance.
I'm currently on stock because I thought something was wrong with my ROM. But as I will get a new phone next month I really can't be bothered to send for warranty. Weird part is that my friend who has a LG G3 also has the same problem but he hasn't rooted nor installed any new ROM...

Hi guys
My Optimus G is dying on a slowly and painful way...This time I have the following problem:
Phone was working perfect except for its battery life (lasting 5 hours at max), but it started to turn off by itself randomly.
Then, I started to bootloop, when I decided to flash another ROM, but now, everytime that try to flash ANYTHING the phone turns off while flashing. I can perform full wipe, but when I try to flash, power goes off.
Is there anything that can do? Is it completely dead?
Thank you guys!
i think i have the same problem, but mine shuts down while booting, i can flash roms normally.
still have to wait for my battery to arrive, going to change it to find out if it fix the problem

This is my second battery. Never had this problem with the old one, but my battery life problem doesn't seem to be battery issue, but something on the phone...

:good: thanks for the heads up. Guess it's time to upgrade
my phone is also off for last couple of weeks. when i put phone on charger it powers on and then shut downs automatically after lg logo. Phone remains on if i put phone into recovery mode but it didn't allow to flash any rom because whenever i try to flash rom after wipe it power off itself.
I also tried remove and put battery back trick but it also didn't work don't know its battery issue or something else

It seems very similar to what is happening with me. Tomorrow I'll try to put the phone back to the stock rom and see if it works.
As soon as I do it, I post the if it works.
i have tried flashing stock 4.1.2 and it work a little bit better. but i need to boot it while plug in. when its booted it stays on. the phone shuts it self down when receiving calls. Did not try any other apps while it's on still have it stock.
I don't know why this is happening, is it so that now a days you can't keep your phone longer than you expected, problem came up after a few years,so they force you to replace your phone once a while.

Yeah...When I bought this phone I was living in Korea and couldn't use due carrier's problems. Then I moved back to my homecountry and that phone, after 8 months of usage almost exploded while charging (an absurd overheat)...Since that, the phone started with battery issues and ghost touches problems. The ghost touches stopped and I replaced the battery but now it doesn't work at all. How the hell LG makes a premium device (highend in 2013) that couldn't last a year after unboxing???? That's why I've decided to move back to Motorola, Samsung and HTC...My Galaxy Nexus could resist the meteor that killed the dinosaurs, and this crappy Optimus G can't even CHARGE without destroying itself.
Another LG device? Never!
i just replace my battery, and my phone is work like new again. For now my problem is fixed
new T-5 battery saved my phone. Replaced it yesterday. Phone is back on Sling rom
Hi all
Apologies if this has been covered before, but I've done many searches and can't find something that matches my unique symptoms, that has pin pointed the root cause.
I've basically got an Australian model LG G3 (D855), and for about the last 3-4 months it has been randomly rebooting itself. It is generally (but not always) triggered when I'm undertaking an action (playing a game, taking a photo, opening an app).
It seems to have progressively gotten worse, to the point where lately it's at time going into an infinite loop, which can only be broken by plugging the phone in to charge it (often pulling the battery out and putting it back in does nothing, as it just continues to reboot once I power it on again).
The whole thing is very random. Some days it can go hours on end without happening. Others, it's every few minutes.
I'm beginning to think that it's battery related, but have read other reports of people with similar issues who have replaced the battery, but with no success, so am not sure. The phone is rooted and currently on a custom rom, but the issue predated the ROM (ie occured on the stock ROM also).
Any suggestions, advice, ideas would be greatly appreciated.
cheers!
So I ended up replacing the battery and problem solved (got someone to test the battery and it was completely stuffed).

I had the same issue and my phone getting random shutdown and only way to turn it on was to pull the battery.
I went to LG service center and they replaced motherboard without any tests.
And now the issue is gone. It seems LG is also aware about this issue.
Hi,
I was on HTC stock Marshmallow and faced the same problem that my phone would turn off without warning at around 15-25%. I thought this was a bug in the stock ROM so i flash cm 14.1 but still i am facing the same problem. The phone just turns off like today it turned off at 29%. When i plug it up to the charger it showed battery 28%. I am thinking about selling my device because this is extremely annoying. Though before doing that i have decided to flash a very popular rom known as "ICE" to see if it fixes the problem. So i want to ask if anyone is having this problem with his m8 or is it just me?
How old is your device?
Because mine is around 2 years old and I face the same problem. For me I think, the battery has deteriorated..
Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
Hold vol up, vol down, and power to do a battery calibration, and see if that helps.
Your data should be safe. But I'd still recommend backing up anything important before doing the calibration, just in case.
I don't know how much old is my device. I bought it 2nd hand. That guy said it was used for only 6 months. Anyways i am going sell this phone soon to get a One plus 3. I have installed S.Team ROM tho, It has minimized the problem as now my phone shuts down in between 10-17%.
Hi all,
I have been running my Z1 Compact on 4.4.4 for the longest time, mainly due to sound issues after updating to Lollipop.
Recently, the battery has been dropping randomly from 60 odd percent to 3 or 4 and then shutting down all within a few seconds. The last time it did this, I tried charging it when I got home but the charging light would not stay on, thus it was not charging. All typical signs of battery failure due to age.
Having already replaced the battery successfully on my Z1, I bought a replacement original Sony battery and replaced it. The problem persisted. On first boot, the phone got to the blue waves then black screen, and power off. Charging screen just showed the battery at about 40%.
I risked it and flashed the latest software with Flashtool, having done a complete wipe. The result of this proved no better, but I did get a different message on the charging screen, a message saying the phone had shut down due to overheating. Picture is attached.
The phone is in no way overheating and I've even booted it while sat on a shelf in the fridge to help dissipate any heat generated but with no luck.
So, the old battery maybe did overheat and caused the phone to shut down, I'll accept that as a probability. It may have even damaged something, but I don't think that's likely.
After changing the battery, I would have expected the problem to resolve itself, but it seems like some kind of hardware 'flag' has been raised that is now not allowing the phone to boot in case it overheats again.
Does anyone know of any way to resolve this, reset the 'flag' per se, other than going to Sony? The phone is definitely out of warranty due to its age, never mind me taking the back off lol
It is a shame because it has been a great phone over the years, and I would like to fix it if possible, even if to give it to one of the grandkids. I have my Z3 still (which I won't part with for anything) and I have an XZ too and both are great phones. I would just like to save the XZ1c if I can.
The phone is not, and has never been modified in any way, no rooting, no bootloader unlocking. Only stock roms have ever been flashed, and then only once or twice, to put it back on 4.4.4.
I have tried reflashing just the kernel, or just the system too, to no avail.
In desperation I even left it in the fridge for a few hours in case the temperature sensor was on the fritz, but that did nothing at all.
I just feel like there's nothing actually wrong with the phone, apart from this trigger that won't reset.
Any help greatly appreciated of course.
Thanks,
Mick
Maybe theres lot of consideration:
1. Rom Bugs
2. The Kernel not supported well
3. Battery Issues (But you already change it right)
There are two temperature sensors afaikin our phone. One in the SOC and another one in the battery (hence three pins).
The battery is probably the one giving the high temp report. Try yet another battery.
A bad battery normally heats up very fast inside and the battery temp sensor stops the battery from charging and/or working to protect the phone and the battery.
I changed my battery before when it had symptoms like yours 100-90-0 drop and after replacing with a battery from eBay it was OK. I gave it a full charge then complete discharge and then complete charge to full cycle the battery once and let the phone Guage its full capacity. one year later now my battery is acting funny again (not charging past 30%) and getting so hot when charging it triggers overheat control service in Android.
Any luck?
Apologies for the necro. But did you ever fix this issue, having the same problem

No, I never did figure it out. I've been loathe to spend more money on another battery when I've got other much newer phones. I really have no idea why it would not reset once the battery was replaced, maybe it's the replacement battery.
Have you tried changing the battery?
I've tried flashing different stock roms, Kit Kat, Lollipop, and it doesn't help.
Short of going to Sony, I'm not sure what else to do.
I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but I couldn't find a definite answer anywhere. So my Lenovo Z2 plus is rooted and was flashed with Flyme OS. I was playing pubg and halfway through the game, my phone rebooted. I thought maybe my battery drained but I tried to reboot anyway thinking that atleast it will boot up to show 0% battery, but it didn't. After plugging it in, it would work again for some time then randomly reboot. And when I would reboot it myself, it stops right after the logo.it only moves further if I plug in the charger. So if it's a battery problem, why does it always reboot at that precise moment. And when it reboots randomly, it's not even hot - the screen, the back, anything. Sometimes it works for hours and would suddenly stop, sometimes it works only for a few minute after unplugging. There's no specific app that triggers this. I even changed the ROM to AEX 5.8, and the problem persists. Is it genuinely a battery problem or is it related to bootloader or anything. Because it does not reboot while in twrp. Any help would be appreciated
Battery dead.
Change battery
HI, im also have that exact same issue but now its back to normal.
What i have done is go to the nearest any phone service, tell them what ur problem and they will check the battery.
As long as ur battery not bloated, theres a chance the battery can be fixed.
In my case, the service guy said it was the cable connector issues and then they fixing the battery.
Now my phone back to normal, and it only cost 100.000 rupiah (7 dollars), but make sure if it works on you too, just charge it untill fully recharged before use, just like the first time
Sorry for my english hope it helps..

Take it to a local repair shop tell them to take a look and check if there is any defect or loose connection
Change the battery.
Sir I was on AEX 6.4 and updated to 6.6.
Everything worked fine for a week then I started getting random reboots, first while playing PUBG. I thought it must be due to high heat during playing.
Then I got while clicking 2-3 images on camera.
Now my phone doesn't boot up.
I wiped everything and format data.
And installed 6.6 .
But still I got that problem.
The next day my phone wasn't booting. Whenever k tried booting it stuck on bootloop.
I wiped everything and flashed again. It booted for the first boot and then when I restart it goes to boot loop. I switch of and leave the phone for 2 hours and again boot it works normally, if I restart then again boot loop. I tried AEX 5.8 but still same problem.
I wrote on xda, they said battery problem.
But my phone easily boot in TWRP even when bootlooping.
I go to repair shop he say battery working good,no problem. But I still say to change the battery.
He installed new battery and the problem still exists.
Please help me.
Guide me through the right process.
Anyone find any solution for this problem... I am getting the same issue.
