[Kernel] Perseus7420 Kernel W8/T Variant port - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge

First things first.
***I AM NOT BY ANY MEANS an ANDROID or C DEV*** in fact I am a QA however I do have development experience in other languages.
That being said I do own and daily use a SM-G925W8 and this is currently very stable, now onto the details.
This is a port/merge of AndreiLux's Perseus7420 Kernel for the north american s6 Edge.
I did not write this Kernel, all I did was adapt the kernel from the G920F to the G925W8 version.
more specifically I merged the changes present from G920F -> G925F and applied them to the source code from G925W8
then merged that into AndreiLux's ref-3.10 branch https://github.com/AndreiLux/ref-3.10.
Built the kernel, applied the same ramdisk changes that AndreiLux's kernel has and repacked the boot.img
So here you go.
The Perseus7420 kernel that was previously only available for the non edge F variant is now available to use on the canadian variant.
I have tested it all day and this thing is very very stable.
What works:
Call Audio (w8/t have a secondary sound chip ES705 which needs to be explicitly enabled in the defconfig)
Everything else AndreiLux implemented, including full voltage control for all cpu cores, gpu, memory, internal busses please see his change log here: https://github.com/AndreiLux/ref-3.10/releases
What doesnt work:
-nothing?
-you tell me
-still testing
-****I have no idea if this actually works on SM-G925T but it verymuch should... I only have the W8 variant***
I will attempt to keep this up to date and merge in any new changes Andrei releases's as this phone is my dd and I like awesome battery life and stability.
Please note. DO NOT FLASH THIS zip!!!! YOU MUST EXTRACT IT
This image file must be flashed with either:
1) dd if=/path_to_image/boot.img of=/dev/block/sda# <- your boot sector
2) or in twrp you can flash an image instead of a zip by clicking images in the bottom right corner of twrp, then selecting boot.img then the boot radio box before hitting flash.
3) flashify
Updated kernel, can boot s6E+ rom, fixed call audio, now this is a flashable zip.
in all cases backup your current boot image first.
and of course im not liable for anything you break.
thanks for checking out my merge of AndreiLux's kick ass kernel
gundal
of course special thanks to AndreiLux for authoring a lot of these awesome changes and give us this wonderful kernel.

Finally got around to installing that e+ rom, it broke my call audio too, merged in some commits from arter and andrei and call audio is back and this is working on Sixperiencev2.0 rom
updated the main thread with a zip file that can now be flashed directly from recovery.
test it out of you can @ktetreault14

Are you saying that this rom is compatible with the Galaxy S6+ with the G928T phone?
Have a great day!

@Misterjunky
No I am saying this KERNEL is compatible with the s6E+ rom that was ported to the S6 Edge.
its a rom called SIXPERIENCE v2.0
it will run on Sm-G925T/W8 and this kernel will boot it or normal 5.1.1 for G925

Awesome! Downloading now. Any other changes?

Wow, I'm in love with this. For those who don't know, the kernel has an awesome 8-band EQ that can be independently configured for right/left channels as well as the capability to modify the voltage of the CPU, GPU, and various busses. It also allows for fine-grain color calibration. All of the settings are available via Synapse. Installed and working great on my g925t.

Forgot that system and cache are formatted to f2fs. i can't test until new rom comes out when I do clean wipe.

I have a 925T T-Mobile variation edge with S6 edge+ V2.0 Port ROM running with no call issues or any other issues. However I was wondering if your kernel will give me back WiFi Calling or is that not kernel related?

That will only come back if/when that rom is based on t-mobile firmware.
Sent from my SM-G928F using Tapatalk

Can't get it to boot at all with either philz nor twrp. Won't make it past kernel not enforcing screen. I switched back to ext4 and the Note 5 rom

I'll flash now im on crash v2.1 I'll let you know if it works for me

Worked just fine on my 925t on crash rom 2.1 but why are my colors like dull now...... Does this have some type of color fix ? or fade of some type ? lol
call audio works fine

Like Books, Flipboard, Magazines, SVoice, etc. All ATT crap will be stripped out.
I'm still learning what the changes were on NJ1. The camera feels like it takes pictures faster, a little quicker to respond for the next pic.

You need to have Samsung 4.3 Bootloader or newer.
Make sure you have the latest TWRP/CWM recovery installed.
Next, remember to backup your apps and your efs folder. That's something that you always should do before flashing anything.
Go to TWRP/CWM recovery via pressing home + power + volume up button at the same time.
Make a Nandroid backup of your working system, if you haven't done so.
Its best to do a clean install for any new Rom (clean installation recommended includes internal storage)
In TWRP Recovery hit wipe, and slide to factory data reset system. (Internal won't be touched fyi)
In PHILZ Recovery Format Internal SDCard (in mounts and storage) and do Factory reset (I will install a new ROM option in PhilZ)
(Reminder) Remember that everything you flash you do it at your own risk so do your research before flashing anything!!
Now find the location of the Rom on your external and install it.
Flashing the Rom zip.
It should take less than 10 minutes till it boots...

Xposed Installer Credit : Author(s): rovo89, Tungstwenty
This is the installer for the Xposed framework, which is a requirement for all modules.
Xposed is a framework for modules that can change the behavior of the system and apps without touching any APKs. That's great because it means that modules can work for different versions and even ROMs without any changes (as long as the original code was not changed too much). It's also easy to undo. As all changes are done in the memory, you just need to deactivate the module and reboot to get your original system back. There are many other advantages, but here is just one more: Multiple modules can do changes to the same part of the system or app. With modified APKs, you to decide for one. No way to combine them, unless the author builds multiple APKs with different combinations.

So does this mean that you have to flash the ne1 ROM (buttnaked or full) before flashing this one? Also, how has agni kernel been behaving on 4.4 lately? I shied away from using it because of all the freezes and reboots awhile back. I'm using a 4.4 ROM whose kernel is stock based right now, but the network type within the APN keeps switching LTE off on me, and it's driving me nuts. I love it, but I also love your ROMS, I used your mk6 ROM for a very long time and always keep it in my back pocket. I might give this NJ1 build a shot, since it's an ATT base. Thanks in advance. ?

I used the NE5 as base and patched the NJ1 OTA. So you can just flash it all by itself. It does not have the kernel, but it does have the NJ1 modem.
DoctorQMM has been chatting with Bajanman and he suggested do not go over 4.2.8 kernel.Doc has been running it for a few days and it's doing fine on his phone. But you know, every phone acts different.
I've been running 4.2.5 since it came out. I just loaded 4.2.8 last night. It's running good. I may add it to an update, only thing I see right now is removing a couple of Knox files I missed.
I'm messing with the AOSP 5.0, should be done with the Almost Naked today or tomorrow. Thought I was done last night until I flashed it.
I lost track of my builds ober the last week and the build I'm messing with had the newer Play services and store.
It was a train wreck when I tried to get into Play sotre.. Updates worked fine and it's running now, but it's half assed if I release it like it is.
I dirty flashed this over the ne5 buttnaked v1 I had installed, and it works flawlessly. I had some crashes on the ne5, but none so far on this rom. Thanks Dev...because of you guys, I don't have a need update my Note 2. Much appreciated.

Just out of curiosity, I did a clean install of this rom, but got the black screen as well. I had to dirty flash over the n5 butnaked rom. Not sure why this is, but thought I should mention it as well.

Did you install anything between the flashes? The only difference really is the NJ1 Buttnaked does not have a kernel and the NE5 does.

Use my 3.8.1 kernel. Super solid and stweaks is packed. Just fixed a boot issue with TW as it's dual boot but I've been running it on my Saber rom and it's been flawless. No SOD or RR. Kernel has updated LTE modem firmware too. Gave me an extra bar at home where I consistently had been getting only one. Make sure to get build 3.8.1 from AFH and not 3.8 on xda. I haven't been able to upload to xda for 3 days

This one isn't. Lol don't think this is the only one around. His leaner meaner brother just hasn't made it yet. Lol I wanted to get one out here so people would have a recovery Flashable ROM and other does might kickstart into their amazing Stock Modded roms. ??
Feels good to see something in here lol...... Hope this gets some devs going
I downloaded the rom and installed it on my GS6, but wifi never connected. I'll have to reflash it to provide a logcat to see what the issue is.

Welp going to take a look see what magic i can do with this without the device ..
thanks for jumping in on this! :good:
For wifi we need to use static Ip. Working on a fix.
Just letting you all know, I'm the only member from Team Acid who has this device, but we will be working on getting some things out for this awesome device. As you can see, we have @RaverX3X working some magic on the ROM side of things, and we have @dsexton702 working on something to do with the Edge Technology. We would have a few people (@bhundven, @FBis251, @jeffsf, and @m4xm4n) working on the kernel end of things, but it would be hard since I'm the only S6 Edge owner on the team and I know nothing on compiling kernels and its very dificult to do without the device. Anyway, patience is a virtue. We'll have something for this device soon.
Someone should make a thread about ideas for what tricks/shortcuts they would like to see on the edge hardware e.g flashlight, gestures etc.

63% Stockish RomCustom Rom for Marshmallow 6.0.1 G925TTMB3EPD1T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge★Now Includes Custom Kernel★
Introduction
This is a stock rom created from the newly released MM firmware for the SM-G925T. I've made the rom using SuperR.'s kitchen. After I upgraded my phone to marshmallow I was excited to get a custom rom up and running.
Unfortunately there weren't many available that would retain wifi calling, so I decided to make one myself. This is the product of many headaches and long nights... hope you like it!
Announcement
Version 3 has just been released! I have fixed the screenshot crashing error as well as added a reboot to recovery option and disabled the unsafe volume warning. I figured these mods would be OK to add without going beyond the stock look and feel. I found these to be two features that I couldn't live without on any rom. At this point I am going to mark the rom as Stable since I believe I have fixed almost all the issues that were present. If anyone finds anything that needs to be fixed or changed, please let me know so I can start compiling a list for version 4.
Changelog
Version 3
* Fixed screenshot crashing issue
* Added Reboot Recovery option in the power menu
* Removed unsafe volume warning
Version 2

* Removal of SecurityLogAgent under system/app

Installation
Download the stock rom from Here. After downloading, flash this using ODIN.
Install the custom recovery TWRP (or whichever you prefer) found Here.
Boot into TWRP, perform a factory reset, then install the rom.
All done!
Known Issues
It seems the kernel I made is not creating an adbkey on the device. This will cause issues when using problems that require this such as DroidExplorer, PDANet, etc... I am currently looking into this and will release a version 2 of the kernel and include it in the rom. For now I would suggest using The Sickness's kernel for the S6 Edge found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-galaxy-s6/orig-development/kernels-twisted-kernel-6-0-1-mm-5-11-16-t3377283.

Enforcing, I guess it would be better to put it in permissive mode instead. I'll change this when I get home tonight.

That would be awesome....some root apps don't work correctly unless it's permissive.

It looks like I removed Video Calling but I have added it back. I am also working on setting the kernel to permissive. I will upload the new rom after I've made these changes.
Well I'm having some issues with setting the stock kernel to permissive mode. I may just wait until @arter97 updates his kernel to support W8/T roms and include that instead of the stock kernel until I can learn more about how to edit/build a kernel. I am going to re-upload the the rom with Video Calling fixed and a few other apps left in with the selinux still set to enforcing. I don't think this will be such a bad thing though since the only app I really see that requires permissive is Viper4Audio. From what I've read, I think xposed should still work with enforcing.

Not having wifi calling is sort of a deal breaker for me unfortunately though.
I'm looking forward to seeing how this rom develops. .

It seems like it may be something with SuperR's kitchen that's breaking wifi calling. I'm going to see if anyone else is having issues with this and if there's a fix. In the mean time, I am going to try and recreate the rom using a different kitchen.

I was reading a thread where certain files and apks need to be present for WiFi calling to work. If I find it again, I'll send a link.
Edit: here is the post I saw...it's about adding wifi calling into a rom, but I am sure the info about the files needed can help.

I have been racking my brain for the past few days trying to figure out whats causing this. I believe like that article is saying that its a permissions issue. I've tried redoing the rom numerous times with different settings but nothing seems to fix the issue. The closest I got was changing the permissions from metadata to sparse_dat. The problem with this was I could not get wifi to enable after using sparse_dat. I have tried odexed and deodexed with a completely stock system and a trimmed system but nothing seems to resolve the issue. I'm thinking this may be something that needs to be corrected with the kernel since that's the only thing that's not changed through my testing. I have tried replacing @The Sickness's kernel in his base rom for the S6 with the stock kernel from the S6 Edge and it does the same thing. The only doubts I'm having about that theory is that I tried using Arter97's kernel and it seems that Wifi calling is not working with that either which would support the theory that it is a permissions issue. The only problem with this is that I don't know what permission would need to be changed or even how to find this as I am still an android OS noob. I'm going to continue doing research to see what I can come up with :fingers-crossed:

I've tried that, no luck I also tried using your exact updater-script minus the sickness folder but still had the same results.
Something else I've noticed is that VoLTE is only working using sparse as well.
I am in the process of trying to use raw_img permissions and old school permissions.
I loaded up twisted v1 and couldn't get wifi calling to connect...maybe I didn't wait long enough...I'll try again later

I believe so. I used SuperR's kitchen for the entire process so that's what generated the updater-script. I used the system.img to build the project files.

[KERNEL] Nougat kernels

To God be the glory, It is finally here: Android N kernels!
@malacore had a good suggestion for me to get started on my AKLU kernels while I wait for more ram for my computer to make my own N builds. I started with JDCTeams's CM14, and hope to branch out to AOSP and others soon.
Feel free to comment if you have tried them on another rom, successful or not, or to leave feedback on these kernels as well. These can be flashed on any JF variant of phone, but I have only personally tested them on JFLTETMO.

Kernel seems to run fine I noticed no fauxsound or fast charge. Also didn't have all the same governors as other kernels u have. Web apps ran laggy but I think that's something with that rom. Also noticed on boot unlike ur marshmallow dev kernel it show not selinux enforcing. currently back on marshmallow it says only about kernel. Why is that on marshmallow it says permissive when full booted under about phone. I wonder if it's some flag or something supersu patches on marshmallow dev that it can't or isn't patching on the nought kernel. Because both ur rom and cm14.1 are both showing permissive fully booted under about phone with me changing nothing. Even ran getenforce to make sure.

Yes, I am still adding features, so fast charge, fauxsound, etc., are not added yet. Also it is not set to permissive when I made it for their ROM, because their default was enforcing. I can make it default permissive if needed when I make more adjustments. It is somewhat difficult working within their ROM to make my own kernel, so it will take some time to get all of the features put in.
that's funny cause the nought one boots with two errors on sammy logo not seandroid enforcing I think and kernel warranty bit as if is permissive but when boot mm dev kernel only shows kernel warranty bit on sammy screen as if enforcing during boot but permissive when finished boot. Also N shows permissive but did flash supersu before booting maybe it changed it. Steps was
Full wide-after backup of course
flash cm14.1
flash 7.1 micro gapps
flash ur N kernel
flash supersu 2.78 sr3- there rom flash 2.78 sr1

Yes, my kernel is based on stock CM kernel. Alucard kernels are great, I have a lot of respect for Alucard kernels.

Hmmm... It did test good here. However, I let AOKP N boot fully, then went back to recovery and flashed this kernel.
However, I have updated it, so try the new one in the OP, if you would. It also tests good here. When flashing, it gave me an error, but still flashes just fine. The error is about the syntax of the META-INF file, not a kernel problem.
Let me know how if you have any more problems. I did not have GAPPS installed when I tested this, just for reference.
Praise God, new kernel is up!
Hey guys, just wanted to let you know that the OP is updated with the new kernel, including intelliplug, an alternative to mpdecision for hotplugging. This controls how many cores are used at once. You have to use Kernel Adiutor or some similar app to control it. Intelliplug has several options that show up in the Kernel Adiutor as well. Let me know what you think!
hi there is a procedure to install this kernel on RR ( like wipe cache), because i tried an get a bootloop

Added a Changelog If You prefer to have something special should You just wait for V2. V1 is very basically to proof that i'm able to produce working Bases for My Work. Looks like i stop doing My Snappatch and switch back to Stock ROM Creations again. To bad that AROMA isn't working on the XZ Premium, otherwise would i include Tons of Options...
Maybe can we get that also fixed in the Future. First Things first

I like how you work! Very orginized and promising
So camera is not working at all? Not even on alternative apps?

Glad to hear that You appreciate that! Hope i can provide a clean and good Working ROM over the next Years, with Useful additions and Optimizations. Something You will never see from Me are old, obsolete or non working "Tweaks", copied Audio Mods or included Xposed. That's stuff Users can add if they Think they miss it...
Quality over Quantity!
And to answer Your Question: No, it's not working at all. You can open it and all that but taking Pictures outputs Green Results (Think the Noise Reductions has a mailfunction without DRM)
XperiFix would be the Way to get around this, but it doesn't allow or support newer Firmwares (As long as the Master isn't giving it Free). I will try to find a Fix for this without the need for a PC, but for now do we have to wait or to use the following Way)
You can:
-Flash XperiFix supported Firmware to Your Device
-Boot into the System (Skip the Setup)
-Shutdown
-Flash the XperiStock ROM (Don't boot the System)
-Use XperiFix
And that should be it. Can't say if this really works but i heard it does...
I go to home sooner and test your rom it's stock yeah just flash able I'm fix camera by flashing that old kernel and drm fix so easy but I think the stock kernel is super fast and this is just fast(old kernel).

Wow, thank You for letting Us know! We know it's a old Kernel, but better as a non working Camera for now! BTW. Is the Kernel for the Dual SIM Version only or also for the G8414 Version!?
EDIT1: Next ROM comes soon! Changelog grows
EDIT2: Testing some last Changes. Think i'll upload the next ROM Version very soon...
Maybe you could have a look at getting this working on oreo for v2. Used to work fine on nougat. The font tab is added to settings, but hangs then reboots when you press it.

I'm not sure if i go with AndroPlus Kernel on the Release since someone told Me he is working on a new Kernel including the DRM Fix. At least is My Camera working with this Kernel (G8414) besided no other Bugs (Except for Lags after flashing but that is gone now). Hope i can deliver a ROM that works also for Your Device well...

Thanks for Your efforts! I'm not going to include Xposed by default since not everyone is using it (Including Me), but i could include Your Edited Services.jar for Xposed Users if it helps!?
EDIT: Is the Services Jar comming with disabled Signature Verification? If so, should it be easy to include the Font Selector from the Link up here...
I'm currently almost done with the new Version. Just waiting for the Kernel and i'm about to Optimize the Camera Config (Trying to enable 4K Recording on the Front Cam besides 1080p @60fps and such). Maybe do i find some more Things to play with...
I'm also thinking the Audio Quality could be better at all. I will also work on this without using any Pseudo Audio Mods or such...
Can't wait to upload the next ROM. I was also thinking about another Name (XperiStock was a just quick Idea for the Release). How Sounds PiXeria? Think it would fit well to the Pixel Look the next ROM comes with... Let Me know!

hey can you also see if you can enable native 4k screen? or 120hz? or recording [email protected]?
PiXeria sounds nice , you can try XpiXel, or any unrelated name that sounds strong, like venum or cobra or viper like some other rom names
but PiXeria sounds nice too.
@Miustone
I notice you are directing users to use one of my old kernel repacks with this rom, and that's fine but it's time for an an update!
Here is my repack of the latest .145 stock kernel for G8141 single sim https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=890129502657596596
I assume you have baked the drm fix libs into the rom, but if not , here is sToRm//'s drm fix zip https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=673956719939833470 (zips tested by me and verified as working on pure stock 47.1.A.12.145 rom)
- Camera with no green pictures working straight out of the box.
- Safetynet passes without flashing Magisk.
- DMverity disabled.
- Patched to eliminate lag on deodexed roms. (Works fine on odexed as well)
- Flash kernel.zip and drmfix.zip in TWRP recovery and you are done.

Great Ideas! XperiStock sounds so copied for Me
I will think about it till the Third Release. Well, native 4K shouldn't be the Problem, but 120Hz for sure. Maybe can we do more on Stock when the 120Hz Option on AOSP finally works (To see how it works). 4K on 60FPS with Back Cam on Stock is in the testing Phase right now...
Let's see what i can manage to do in the next Time, but i'm already really satisfied with the Quality of Stock. It's for sure beyond the most Flagship when it comes to Quality and Features...
Only the Audio could be really better like said before. Think i can make this baby a lot better in this view. There is a lot to merge from My Snappatch, and i'm finally not longer handicapped by the DAC in My Axon 7 (Snapdragon ftw!)
Hi Miu stone I'm glad to see you working on camera and audio (specially camera because no one does) just don't delete xreality, I think native 4k can be good, but native 2k can be great because dialer doesn't work on 4k, phone goes hot on 4k,battery drain faster, and phone getting slow on games.
Hope you adding cool features to it and thanks for great work.
How's xperibeast for name. ?

well at least there should be the option of switching you know? when you gaming you can simply switch to 1080 or 2k and when you just browsing, instagram, youtube , chrome, etc its nice to have 4k as an option to enable, plus there is an alternative phone app that works with 4k (the reason it doesnt work in the first place is because some apps arent adjusting to the VIRTUAL density but if it was physical it wouldnt cause such problems) I tried it and it works perfectly, and dont worry, i dont think native 4k is as much power requiring as virtual so overheating isnt gonna be a big issue like on virtual 4k using adb commands.

hope the [email protected] work, and if 120hz is a problem how about 4k option? is it possible you might consider it in the next version?
and yah actually the sound quality on the device is superb and on a high level compared to other devices when it comes to everything about sound engineering, I actually work in the music field and I work a lot with sound stuff and i can tell you it delivers pretty good accuracy and has a high dynamic range of frequencies and its very rich, the only issue here is that its very low, could be to maintain really good quality sound, but I would rather a higher volume even if it means a little less quality (unless if it starts to distort in that case id rather keep it low)
and again, on be half of the XZP community I cant thank you enough for you efforts and energy to get this baby up and running on the level it should be
keep it bro much love

True Hero! Thank You very much for Your Contribution! I just got the DRM working with My ROM and the right Kernel, but it's really Time for a Update. Next Version of My ROM will come with Your Kernel! Also great to hear that there will be no Lags and to have also other Additions like DMverity disabled besided passing SafetyNet!
I could with AROMA create a lil Pack containing the DRM Fix, Magisk (Or no Magisk) and Your Kernel, but sadly is our TWRP buggy and doesn't works with AROMA right now. But when People want to flash My ROM with a working Camera and without Magisk do they just have to remove the Magisk ZIP out of the ROM and all will be fine. Really great!
Buy this Man a Beer! Next ROM Update will come in the next Hours with new Kernel <3
