You need to know how to compile a kernel and add them to the sourcecode.

Agreed.
In unrelated news, sjpritch25, what are your voltages set at with the 1.7 oc speed? I'd like to learn more about acceptable voltage settings and I'm a little scared to venture into it too much. Thanks in advance

[Q] LG-D850 Kernel Source

I noticed that LG has the following kernel source sitting out on the web:
http://goo.gl/KHNwYf
It's listed as the LG-D850, which I imagine is very close or the same as the 851. I own the T-Mobile variant, as most of us here do; does anyone know if the other variants run the same kernel?

It's because you searched for the wrong thing. It'd be better to search for "D85", keeping in mind that the T-Mobile variant is the D851.
https://www.lg.com/global/support/opensource/opensourceList?types=ALL&search=D85
As you can see, all variants that I'm aware of are listed.
Now, my findings have been that the D851 kernel source has had all of its comments stripped, making it a pain to merge stuff in to. The D850 has the comments in, as does the D855 source. So, I don't know what's up with that. I do know however that between the kernels, LG removed support for a panel or two between the D850, 851, and 855. Couldn't even get the damn thing (any kernel source) to compile until I did this:
https://github.com/ConnorBaker/lge_kernel_d851/commit/121e0c10062184bc21dd8b772ea057a200b94cd2
I'd use the D850 source as base for the T-Mobile variant, since the T-Mobile variant (via my research on the webz) tends to be the closest to the international version. Also, keep in mind that the defconfigs, although they share the same names through the different kernel sources, are different: i.e., the D850 T-Mobile defconfig won't match up with the D851 or D855 one's. Furthermore, there are defconfigs for Broadcom compatibility, which leads me to believe that LG is using both Qualcomm and Broadcom chips for Wi-Fi.
To my knowledge, no one has tried to build and boot the D850 kernel on the D851. So, only time will tell if the kernel sources, are in fact, interchangeable.
Warm regards,
Connor Baker

Now that I'm at a desktop. Thanks so much for all this information. I really appreciate it. I'm poking around at the source, because I'm a glutton for punishment apparently. You've really provided me with some great feedback, and again I'm highly appreciative.
I realize this thread isn't new, but has anyone figured out if you could put the T-Mobile kernal on an AT&T device?

OK welcome mate ,
First you have to find your device forum on xda , I am saying this because unlike other social medias - in xda each devices are different communities.
If you wanna improve your phone's UI , speed and something like that , you have to install a custom rom that is designed for your device (custom roms are created by other people, so there is a chance to get brick or losing some features from your device )
Just have a look at this:- http://www.google.com/url?q=http://...kQFjAA&usg=AFQjCNGysPYLhtTr9LFpYLPtXE5JV679Xg
In xda , there is a button called thanks button , just press it if I help you
hey I'm interested to know how you accomplished this

Hey I'm Salena, I'm surprised you say you rooted the lg volt 4.4.2 kit Kat I've only had mine for a couple weeks now and have been researching how to root it since day one. I've always rooted any device I have usually it's not rocket science, but I've had a damn hard time figuring this one out, I'm on boost but I believe it's the same kernal version as Verizon . Plz share this helpful info with a fellow hacker, also nice to introduce yourself, welcome

Custom ROMs Moto G 5G Plus?

Hi everyone,
Is there any chance the custom ROM scene will take up this device? As far as I know it is a pretty solid and budget friendly device that I figured would get custom ROM support quite fast but so far I haven't been able to find any.
If there are teams working on it, can someone link me some more info?

Eventually. Most devices that have loads of Roms and Kernels are most popular and have Android devs who work on them. I'm kinda in the same boat. I have A71 Samsung and there are very few Roms
Still hoping...
Great device at a most reasonable price. I don't know how to develop my own custom rom, but certainly hope somebody else will...

I really hope so too. The affordable price and quite decent specs seem to make it well suited for it. But of course it all comes down to popularity too. So far I have really been loving it (aside from the always on display being WAY too sensitive to movement of my phone) and am planning to use it for a very long time. Just like the good old Motorola Razr and Krzr phones haha.

How do you know this is for the Moto G 5G plus? All I can see is 'Nairo' . Is that a codename or?

Nairo is indeed the codename for the g 5G+
If you go to https://omnirom.org/#devices you'll see the list of available devices (of which the g 5G+ is one). The link there is the one I posted earlier

Thank you for the explanation and link! Happy to see someone working on a custom rom for it. As of now it seems to be an early android 11 build so I will keep an eye on it!

Early builds by this developer are like final builds by some others .
The rom works brilliantly.

I am hearing a lot of positovity about it indeed but somehow I am really struggling with getting the bootloader unlocked etc using a chromebook.. will just wait for a decent guide I guess.
The rom is marked "unofficial". Is this safe to use? Also do I use weekly or microg? Thanks for any guidance.
