By the time they roll it out, you will be on to an upgrade anyway, relax.
No. This phone will never receive an LTE signal. Ever.

There is no LTE radio in the T999, HSPA-42 is plenty fast though.

This!
It took year a really long time for Verizon to roll out their LTE service where I live. This may or may not be the case for you but T Mobile isn't even set to start rolling out until next year. In the meantime enjoy the current GS3 with hspa and get the benefit of better battery life

nope.
Not sure why you even think it would work. There is no GSM radio in the phone.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Unfortunately the technology that Verizon and AT&T use for their networks are different and not compatible with each other. GSM phones (AT&T, T-Mobile) can be used on different networks but CDMA (Verizon, Sprint) are usually only able to operate on the network they are sold on. CDMA technology is a bit strange because you can't even switch devices between Sprint's and Verizon's networks.

Because misinformed users often think a sim slot indicates the phone is GSM based. Even now, a lot of people are shocked and appalled when I tell them my Verizon phone needs a sim card.

so let me make this clear

IDK why your bashing him, he didn't say," nooooo it does work on AT&T!"
He said after you said no,"It has a sim card slot why wouldn't it work?"
All you got to do is answer that question. This is XDA, not BAA(Be an ass).
If he has a question just answer. End of story. Ik this is an obvious answer and he could've dug harder on Google, but who cares whatever, just answer it.

Hey guys a buddy of mine sold me his note 2 from tmobile. It is unlocked and working on my att service. My question is what can i do as far as the slow download speeds? I have LTE service and yes i know its not enabled on the tmo version yet but is there any way to get better download speeds? Flash a certain rom or flash a certain modem maybe? I wish the tmo version can be turned into a att version.....
What sorts of speeds are you getting exactly?
I'm getting around 1-2 mbps... is that normal on att hspa?
Wondering if I need to set the apns? I currently only see one option....

I'm not sure what the rules are on self bumping questions, but you waited 24 hours, which in my opinion is fine. Again, I don't know the rule, if there is one, but by my logic your actions were fine.
I wish I could help, I have the opposite problem. I have an ATT S3 unlocked, but I'm on T-mo. I only get EDGE. I'm selling the S3 on ebay though, I'll probably grab the Note 2. Although the March 15th "launch" of the SIV may make me hold off. Or get the Note 2 and use the return period to see if the SIV launches.
afaik the stock ROM doesn't have LTE built in, even on T-mo. Doesn't T-mo use the AWS split 1700/2100 for 4G too? That'd render the frequencies available non-compatible.
Hey muqail... Thanks for confirming I wasn't spamming. I guess the guy thought I was new like yesterday. .. Anyway have you tried to do the steps to get gs3 working on tmobile? Its In the
gnote 2 section for att. I can put a link as soon as I get home. ... People have their att note 2 working on tmobile band.

For sure hook me up. It works for voice, SMS and MMS, but EDGE only data speeds, which is SLOW. Hopefully someone will buy my S3 soon. Probably buy a Note 2 full off contract price and get the SIV when it's out with an upgrade price.

Here's the deal, Today i went to Wal-mart to get a new phone for my wife. I decided on the T mobile Samsung galaxy S 4 (on the Wal-mart family plan $40 a month unlimited) . unfortunately, it apparently does not get signal at my house. What i desire to do is move it to straight talk. because Verizon does have signal at my house. So from this point, is there any way to get this Galaxy S4 to see the Verizon towers and work on the Straight talk network using those Verizon towers? And If So, Can someone please post the step by step instructions (without assuming that i know what a jailbreak or unlocking is) so that i can make my wife happy.

Can't be done
Can't be done. T-Mobile is GSM, Verizon is CDMA, incompatible networks.
Straight Talk resells service for the major carriers but for Sprint and Verizon, who are CDMA carriers/networks, you have to get phones compatible with CDMA to use on Straight Talk and vice versa for T-Mobile and AT&T.
ok how about this

no ur only solution it not to sell it all you need to do is get a straight talk or a net10 sim card and pop it in the phone and than ur in business you need to update the apn settings for the phone to work..... straight talk and net10 run off of att towers so if att gets service where you live ur gonna be good..... these other people don't know what they're talking about... it has been done and it can be done

Neither the T-Mobile nor AT&T variant will work on Verizon. Period. There isn't an unlock you can do, no ROM you can flash, no special code you can put in to change that fact.
For ST or Net10 to use the Verizon towers you need a CDMA phone, which the M1919 S4 is not. As was mentioned in the post above mine, you DO have the option to run off of T-Mobile or AT&T networks either through the respective carriers or use those towers via Net10 or Straight Talk; but using the Verizon towers in any way is impossible with the particular device you purchased.

Where'd you buy it? I bought mine from TMO and was told I can return it within 30 days for a full refund. As others have posted, you can't do what you want with that phone, period.
Edit: Reread your original post. If you have to have Verizon then the phone you bought won't work. Just like a AM radio won't pick up FM stations. It's that simple. Take it back to Walmart and get a refund. BUT, if you can live with using T-mobile away from home and have wifi at home you can get a T-Mobile plan and use wifi calling and internet access at home, and the TMO network elsewhere. You want to use wifi at home anyway because it doesn't count towards data or calling usage. It's all seamless, so there's no problem using it that way.
Dude seriously I find it hard to believe you don't have Wi-Fi in your home. Because if you do, your problems are solved. Your phone supports Wi-Fi calling and messaging (SMS/MMS). This is why I switched to T mobile.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I do believe the AT&T and T-Mobile variations are able to pick up 100% of each other's bands so this argument is invalid.
Hello, all.
I recently decided that I must move from T Mobile to ATT because of unresolvable signal issues with the Note 3 at work. The phone was paid for in full at T-Mobile, and I was told that all I needed to do to move to ATT was to follow an unlocking procedure, which I did at the ATT store. At the ATT store I also moved my Nexus 5 over to ATT without a hitch, but the Note 3 has no LTE or data for that matter. Voice and text work fine. This had the ATT employee stumped.
Is there a technical reason for this and if so, how do I fix it? Many thanks.
You need to add the APN for AT&T data. I'm running a T-Mobile version on AT&T as well.

I really didn't want to give up T-Mobile because I was getting amazing 40/10Mbps LTE. It doesn't matter to me what I get at home, since my home connection is 100/5. Now I'm on AT&T I am getting about 6/1 but at least I can use my phone at work without worrying about reliability.

Yes you can! The newer galaxy models like the note 3 and synchronized what bands they utilize for communication.
