2 questions, getting desprate. Please Help... - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

Ok First, I am looking for a voicemail app that will let me listen to my voicemail's, "WITHOUT CALLING ANOTHER NUMBER".
I liked the old one like sprint had awhile back. I just don't want to call another number to get my voicemail.
And Second, We have three phones, one is able to switch Carriers and the other two say not compatible. They are all the same phones.
How do I get our other Note 2 sph-L900 open to go to another carrier? We are trying to go from sprint to Straight talk.
I was wondering if the sd card needs to be upgraded to a 10 to help this problem.
Please I could really use some help here, going nuts..
Yes the Phones are rooted and running Cyanogenmod Nightly 12.1.

For your first question - I use Google Voice. I prefer the visual voicemail from Sprint, but I haven't found any other than Google Voice that works with CM12.1
No idea about your second question....

Ok, Thank you altimuh, installed and in use......
Any help on the Second question, anyone, Please...

I got it ... and yeah, this was the place to ask....

Because your second question makes little sense and this is a forum filled with users-- it's not a Sprint helpline.
First, there is no sim card (...which I assume you mean because an SD card is totally unrelated to carrier service). You need to call Sprint or walk into a store. Ask them to unlock the ESN for use on an mvno. If you don't have an outstanding bill, they'll likely be okay with it.

[BUG]&[FIX] Can not Add Call or Create Conference call, or put call on Hold on T989
Hello,
I am unable to make 2 calls at the same time or a conference call. Everytime I try this I get android.acore.phone force closed. I have tried with Roman's kernel and stock rooted rom and with beastmnod 2.1. I want to find out if this is a software issue or issue with my device.
Can anyone try this and post results? Thanks,
install the Telus based kernel
Tmo based kernels seems to require that annoying ID App from Tmo before it lets you do it.
basically they are trying to sell you another "feature"

That is strange, because I'm using the stock kernel with Phantom ROM and I'm able to do conference calls.
my information is based of 3 guys that has been complaining about dropped calls when trying to do 3 way or putting another caller on hold
all 3 of those topics suggest it's that Tmo ID application, so take it with a grain of salt, it might or might not be correct
personally i have no problem with 2 callers, but i've not yet tried conferencing calling
i'm on Juggernaut 2
in that case the work around is to install a widget
i'll suggest Widgetsoid 2 from Market https://market.android.com/details?id=com.jim2

So should I assume my phone is defective then?
Try to restore/re-install T-Mobile Name ID and check.

woah! so now we got 4 people that confirmed the same thing...
it's it only affecting people using Tmo SIM cards?
because it works for me, without that Tmo broadware name ID app
It would be strange if it has to do something with the SIM. But yes, i'm using TMO SIM and that too the new one which came in the box.

Good point. Hmm I could test it without Tmo sim but the other ATT sim I have is only for data and does not have any minutes. Also, I got my phone for full retail but that does not seem to make any difference. AllGamer do you have yours SIM unlocked? (Must be since you are using a different SIM I assume).
thanks.

Dropped calls in conferance calling? After installing roms/root? Solution here!!!
download the attached below is the name id.apk for t-mobile.....
INSTALL IT ON YOUR GS2 AND PROBLEM SOLVED!
This will solve the problem for people having issues with drop calls in a conference call/ 2 CALLS/SWAPING CALLS etc.....
Confirmed!!! This is the solution!!!
What if I'm not a T-Mobile customer? Will it make any difference? Because T-Mobile Name ID is just going to check back with T-Mobile and find out I'm not their customer and do nothing afterwards, right?

it seems to only affect people on Tmobile
i'm on Wind and i'm not having issues
where is that file supposed to be stored? under normal apps? or is it a system app? i have had the problem once..i just want to check if i already have it installed as to avoid it happening again
---------- Post added at 06:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:31 PM ----------
i just installed it, i guess i didnt have it as it didnt prompt me about overwriting or replacing it...i just opened it and it said "tmobile name id is unable to contact the server" does that mean its not working?
nevermind..i got it to connect...its a paid service? lol...do i really need to have this on my phone to ensure that call waiting and 3 way calling works? this is stupid
so i installed it, rebooted..i just got a call from my friend...it listed his location and #...so im guessing its the app kicking in? its actually pretty cool..i dont recall it giving me that information before i installed the app...i never agreed to paying the $3/mo fee...how is it still working?
Actually don't have that issue t-mobile puts it under change services as t-mobile name id free trial I told them to remove that because I don't want to be charged for something I don't use.

What is the actual name of the NameId apk? I know it is on here for download, but the named download is not the original naming. I am trying to pull from stock backup so I can drop into system folder to test a couple of other issues. As for the 3way/merge issue. Without the name id app, I get some failures, and some successes.
Anyway, if someone know the actual name of the app I would appreciate it.

OMG! (Anyone???) samsung gn2 networks prob

I have a sprint samsung galaxy note 2 that is rooted and flashed to verizon running macksrom 5.0 and i started having this problem. the problem is i can call from my phone when it is not on wifi but the 3g/4g isnt showing up top in the status bar i cant access the internet unless im on wifi. when i go into settings and click on mobile networks it acts like it is going to do it then it hangs at a black screen and a box pops up and says unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped ive tried cleaning caches and fixing permissions, nothing helps, there is also another thing that pops up and says error #89 unknown error. it also says when i click on stuff, use touchwiz or xperia to perform this action. Always or just once.) I bought this samsung gn 2 online everything was already done to it. I think whoever installed the macks rom must have left the the touchwiz on it. Because it keeps asking me when i do things, perform action using touchwiz or xperia I also noticed that i have goomanager on it. Can i use the goomanager to reflash this phone? If so can someone give me information on how to properly do it. i also read something about mobile odin. Which one would be the easiest to use?
You have too much going on there. I would relash the rom. Make sure you wipe system, casche and devick; may want to do old school and wipe three times.
Goo Manager is probably suppose to be there, by design from the ROM developer. That should have been in the OP on the ROM three, along with known issues.

Doesn't verizon run a slightly different hardware version from sprint? Are you trying to connect to the verizon or the sprint network? If verizon, there are two possibilities. 1 - hardware, the sprint phone just doesn't like the verizon signal. (unlikely) 2. - ROM, is the ROM the sprint version or the verizon version? if it's the sprint version I would say that framework differences are causin the issue and would reflash the correct version for your carrier (or the correct port - the hardware differences I mentioned earlier)
Have you called customer service about getting your phone set up on their network? About getting the IMEI number registered in their database?
In other words what have you already tried with this used phone in order to get it set up on your provider's network?

it was originaly a sprint phone that was rooted and flashed to verizon. ive been using it for months on the verizon network and have had zero problems until about five days ago. i dont know if the rom is sprint or verizon. how do i tell? i would reflash it if i knew what i am doing. i am a complete uber noob. im just hoping someone will give me directions how to reflash it. i dont care what rom i just want it to work again on the verizon network. i want to be able to use it to go geocaching with my sons. just got it all set up ready to go caching with em and the very next day it decided to go mental on me.

Guide to Flash to Straight talk using cdma

I have hacked several phones thanks to the help of this group so I wanted to return the favor. I spent about 6 hours doing this and have success (phone, text, and 3g web even using OTA programming with no MEID cloning.).
The first thing you need is to make sure your phone is stock. If your phone is modded get the stock rom from here
http://vivow.pcharpoon.com/roms.html#stock
I have tested this on a rooted phone using the GB rom above. With the latest radio from here
http://vivow.pcharpoon.com/radios.html
Next follow what shef692003 says about using CDMA workshop.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1067036&highlight=spc&page=4
Make sure to get your drivers downloaded first. You will have to hunt for cdma workshop yourself.
We need to change the spc code to 000000 you can also change the NAM number to your phone number but this doesn't seem to effect anything. after rebooting your phone dial the straight talk OTA program number *22890.
I will update after testing with AOPK 4.2 rom later. Thank all you guys for the help you have given.
Update after replacing stock rom with jelly bean AOKP
After running all day on AOKP using straight talk and all is well. Cell coverage is the same if not a little better than my wife's stock straight talk phone. Data was 3g and all the phone's features have worked "out of box" so to speak. I hope this helps someone else if they want to flash their Dinc 2 over to straight talk.

Thanks for the info.
I was wondering, what are the APN settings you are using to achieve 3g?
EDIT: Also, when I try to call *22809 it tells me "we are unable to program your phone"
Best,
Andrew

Sorry it took so long to get a reply back. My kid fell through some sheet rock and broke his arm so I've been busier than usual.
Are you using the stock rom from Verizon?
I didn't touch the APN settings the only other thing I did was to change the NAM value to my phone number. After doing those two things I was able to complete OTA programming. I had also updated the radio but I think that was after I had finished the OTA programming. I'll check my APN settings when I get a chance, but those where "stock" so to speak.
I want to do this for my brother, he is currently on Verizon. I am assuming that he has to disconnect service from Verizon first then activate Straight Talk?

Not True. You can bring SOME CDMA phone to ST but the incredible 2 is NOT one of them! If you try to activate it using their BYOP program they will take you MEID and after 10 or so minutes tell you that the phone is not compatible with their system. I know I tried. The reason I bought my incredible 2 was for the BYOP program.
Sorry for not replying
I never got an email showing their was a request for info on this thread. This method won't work for sprint phones ,I think, because it uses verizon CDMA settings. It does work as this is how I got my phone on the ST network.

T-Mobile Note 3 on ATT APN problem

I have been using a SM-N900T on the ATT network by changing the APN settings, and it has been working perfectly until today. I have no internet connection, but it shows full bars, and I can still call and text. I've tried restoring to a earlier NANDROID, and even went to an ATT store and had the guy (who happened to know exactly what I did and has done it himself for his phone) try to fix it, but nothing has worked.
I posted this in the AT&T section too, but no luck so far. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Same here both with AT&T and T-Mobile. All you need to do is call nearest store and ask if they're experiencing network problems.

phone on LTE Nexus 7??? yes I did search...

Interested in GSM calling info, NOT VoIP calling!!!
I have searched the form, but have not found a definitive answer. I am looking to purchase Nexus 7 LTE and I'm curious if GSM calling is available with a custom ROM like CyanogenMod 11 or Slimkat. I'm not new to flashing as I run Slimkat on my Nexus 4, but I don't want to get rid of my 2013 Nexus 7 and purchase the LTE variant if I cannot make calls on it. I KNOW its a tablet, and no level of rooting\unlocking on the stock ROM will allow this, just unsure if its a hardware or software issue. I saw one post where member 'thejmannnc' said he was able to make calls with cm11, but every other post(which are all months old) said it was not possible. I would really like to hear from someone that has actually succeded in installing and using the dialer for GSM calls and SMS/MMS texting. Thanks in advance for proven answers.

The LTE Nexus 7 can not be used as a phone..
Youtube is your friend here..
You can only use it as a VOIP
Even if you put a fully functional SIM card from a working phone..
You still be unable to use it as a phone..
Obviously your not doing your research.. and looking for someone to do it for you..
if you can't find it, then its just not there..
Look at this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFkIR1elWug
You can only use it as a VOIP.. its not meant for cell calling. Thats why its a Tablet..
Okay...like I said before, I have done the research. I've already read all the posts associated with this subject(by searching on the internet, just like you) and I've seen the video on YouTube. For you to just call me lazy because you dont understand the question is, I feel, a little insulting. I want to know if it is a software issue, or a hardware issue. If you don't know, just say you don't know...none will think any less of you. If you DO know, then offer me some proof that you know, not just some unfounded "nope".
Do you know?
Sorry, but the answer is still no. If the answer were yes, you would see it posted everywhere in this forum.
Actually I am using my n7 as a partial cell. I have actual texting on it and possibly calling {no calling on that sim card, just texting) you may be able to with a proper Sim. Go to the n7 2013 lte specific subforum and read the xposed framework mod for ussd call and text (on my phone so I can't find an exact link)

In CyanogenMod, I have added the phone capability.
VOIP works, but GSM calling did not.
Someone got limited success by flashing a different radio meant for the Nexus 4 - a hybrid radio modem img file.
However, one way voice communications was not considered useful.
Adding in the phone functionality into the Android operating system is not enough.
It appears the Nexus 7 LTE is neutered in the proprietary ASUS radio modem.
Regards,
Howard
P.S. The Nexus 4 guy who makes hybrid radio IMG files was not very receptive to trying to help.
There could be future hope with the expansion of VoLTE, which is being developed by Verzion and T-Mobile (via its purchase of MetroPCS). T-Mobile was testing this in Texas but I dont know where.
If it comes to deployment at end of year, then I think there might be a chance through modification for us.
As of right now it seems just through VoIP.

Why are you so stuck on GSM anyways? VOIP may be kind of crappy on 3G, but on 4g it's fine. Even if you could, I doubt there'd be any carrier out there that would let you do it for free. VOIP on the other hand technically isn't that much different than sending a large email, which is why VOIP -> VOIP is generally free, similar to email services.
I've had a Nexus tablet as my phone for almost 2 years now, and haven't paid a dime because of Google Voice's free VOIP-> PSTN ability. My setup:
Incoming: Call to Google Voice # forwards to Callcentric free DID. Callcentric forwards to pbxes.com, which is linked to my VOIP app (CsipSimple)
Outgoing: CsipSimple -> pbxes.com Gvoice trunk -> PSTN.
Texting using Google Voice app (uses the same number)
Hangouts on my girlfriend's iPad has the calling feature built right in, so I'm sure it's only a matter of time before it comes to Android.
