Need Asus Power Saver APK - ZenFone 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

For whatever reason the Power Saver app on my ZE551ME doesn't work and I am pretty sure it never has as far as me launching it. It has popped up twice after updates but when I have tried to launch it I get "Unfortunately, Power Saver has stopped."
If someone, anyone, can pull the APK or whatever files needed for it so I can try to get mine working I would GREATLY appreciate it.

It took me few days, lots of googling, few factory resets to accidently come to this conclusion do a DPI reset and it should start working. Keep in mind that if you are rooted you can directly do it from your device without connecting to PC. Hope that helps.

It can be fixed and keep the dpi.

It did help. I had changed the DPI so I could use the Asus Launcher with five icons across. After seeing your question and reading the thread on the Asus Launcher possibly draining the battery I reset my DPI and moved to Nova Launcher. Switching the DPI back worked for letting Power Saver launch. Much appreciated.

[Q] Netflix says its not compatible with my S2, any thoughts?

Hi everyone,
Before my S2 was rooted and loaded with EaglesBlood Netflix was working properly, but after that whenever I try to pull up the app with my phone it takes me to the android market and says that Netflix isn't compatible with my device.
Any thoughts on how I can solve this?
Thanks.

Are you running any apps that change the screen/lcd density? This will cause that to happen.

Know any workaround for this? Or do I have to set it back to normal whenever I want to get an app?

revert back to 240 when finished installing, just go back to the density that you want. It will work after that. It seems the installer is checking up on screen resolution prior to installing/downloading.

Yep, this is the "solution." It's very odd that Google has decided to enforce a pixel density standard....

I know why be worried about the desity?
Maybe its because when you program for Android you set images and layout objects based on density and screen size if you want to make your app dynamic. Android pulls this information from the app and lays out the GUI based on what folders they layout objects are in.

Disable Touch Key Backlight on Google Edition

I hope someone can help me out with this (I guess most of my posts arent worth bothering with as they usually go untouched by anyone). I'm trying to figure out a way to disable the touch button backlight on a Google Edition ROM. I have been searching for an answer since the Google Edition hit. All I can ever find is how to disable on GSIII ROMs (non ge). If anyone can please help me out I would very much appreciate it. Thanks!

Screen Filter is an app that can disable the backlight of the softkeys. Set it to auto-start at boot and you should be good. I know its not a direct fix but its a low impact app that shouldnt effect battery life or operation.

Seems to work for me. Did it dim the screen at all (thats its main function)? Did you see the check box "enable softkey back light" (uncheck it) at the bottom of the app ui?

Yes, it did dim the screen, but if i uncheck the enable softkey back light, anytime I touch the screen the backlights still come on. Are you on a G.E. rom? I am currently on Infamouse G.E.

No im not. I am on AOSP (Slim Bean) though.
There are options to do this in AOKP and CM roms. Anybody know how those builds pull it off?
Give me a minute to shower and I'll write you an app. All you have to do is install my app, reboot, grant it root access, and profit.

[Q] NEED HELP: D855 Widgets blink after screen unlock

I have issue with my widgets after unlock. Most of the time after screen unlock, widgets disappear for one or two seconds. It looks like widgets reloading from some reason. I have tried factory reset, hard reset, even flash kdz file, but still no change.
Anyone have an idea what can be root of this problem?

Same here,
I don't think it's an issue...
Maybe it's normal ? Maybe a sort of deep sleep or something like that... ?

Same sentiments on LG G2...got ducking tired of it and switched to Nova!
It's not normal and it's the launcher. Launcher redraws do that.
If you have lots of apps running, well the launcher is "reloaded" when you go back home. Due to the nature of heavy things happening on the G3 lock screen I think this happens a lot.
Third party launchers alleviate the issue to some extent.
I also tried to edit build.prop file in system where i added ro.HOME_APP_ADJ=1, but it didn't help.
There must be some way, how to keep launcher in memory.
By using third party launchers i will miss some widgets.
To solve this blink issue, I use AppSetting (Xposed Module) and i select "Resident" in settings of com.lge.launcher2.
Reboot, and you're done.
This option let your phone to keep this application in RAM.
Thanks...solve my problem

What worked for me was force stop Chrome and dont use it. use a different browser. So far no redraw.
fixed
I think this blink issue already fixed by new software update release couple days ago. I face the same problem then. Now no more blink in the home screen.

Color balance issues and a few others

I finally got my new OP3 but I've noticed some color shifting when tilting the phone. Is this normal? Also I need help with something else. I want to completely remove lockscreen wallpaper on oxygen OS, so that it shows my home screen wallpaper. I'm rooted and I've tried deleting the keyguard wallpaper files, but all it does is show me a black screen unlike on the OP2. Can someone help?
1) there is no colour shifting on my op3, do you have a tempered screen guard on your phone?
2) when on oxygen os launcher long press on empty area of your home screen and select the lock screen wallpaper from there. its annoying that everytime you have to switch to oneplus launcher to change lockscreen wallpaper.
Isn't it possible to straight up get rid of it? I remember doing it on the OP2. By uninstalling the keyguard wallpaper file in system/users. But it keeps coming back after a black screen... And about the color balance, it only appears if I tilt my phone, which I read is a common problem with AMOLED screens all over. Can you confirm?

The only way is to set the same wallpapers for homescreen and lockscreen, there is no way to get rid of the wallpaper so you'll have to do it manually.

Yes there is
Such a madness or sis substratum theme
Madness is paid byt sis not
And I'm not sure that works on stock rom you know
However it's mire wise to use custom rom tgat have more clocks by default and you can use themes without any major problem
Hey thank you i wasnt able to find them on playstore. can you link them here

I couldn't get S.I.S. to work. I didn't feel like registering for Telegram just for this, so I didn't look very far into it. Building the lockscreen themes stated that it couldn't find certain resources to replace, so it aborted.
I did get Madness to work, however. Since it focused so much on the lockscreen and not AOD, I was a bit skeptical... but every lockscreen clock I tried out worked just fine with AOD, though finding one I wanted to use was a bit time consuming. All I wanted was a large clock despite using tiny DPI text in the OS. There were a couple larger clocks that were not affected/ruined by my DPI settings.
It seems like there's an issue when the device is unplugged, the AOD clock doesn't reliably update. I've heard that homescreen widgets can have this issue if a non-system font is used for the clock. I may have to do some more research about this as it's a sizable problem to have a visible clock with the wrong time. (sometimes off by more than an hour)

The AOD clock is controlled by System UI. Adaptive Battery has never interfered with Android's own clock before. Help me understand what your thought process is...?
I admit that I haven't done a lot of research on the internals of substratum, but my impression was that it did not use an active process to make the changes.
Turning off adaptive battery didn't help.
This is what I'm experiencing that only started after using the substratum modification.

Thanks for tracking this thread down before I had the chance to look at Telegram, heh.
I tried rebooting without making any substratum changes, then disabling and re-enabling Motion Sense. Unfortunately, it didn't help.
It seems that it takes a couple hours idle for it to start happening. Then once it happens, it will keep happening until the phone is fully unlocked. Tapping the screen will update the time once, but it still requires an unlock or similar(?) to fix for longer than a minute.
Approaching the phone with only motion sense waking the phone will not even update the time, even though it shows the lockscreen wallpaper instead of being dark.
